Chapter 68 One less thing to worry about
"I think Punk hates me!" Jamie announced to her Shield buddies as she threw open their door. Punk had sent her away, so she decided to go and see her Shield friends, she felt like playing with Betty's hair while Leo and Silly Rollins argued with each other about who was stronger. Jamie always said that they were both wrong, Batman was stronger and in some cases, Robin the girl wonder, they didn't argue with her, they just told her that they were only talking about them. Batman and Robin didn't count in this arguement.
"That's gonna take some explaining Jamie" Roman pointed out as she shut the door, her body lent against it before sinking to the floor. Tears were pricking in her blue eyes, the thought of Punk hating her again was more than enough to make her cry.
"He hates me" Jamie said sadly, shaking her head. "Why would he hate me?"
"Jamie, I think you could be wrong" Dean said softly sitting down with her, "Punk is crazy about you, he wouldn't suddenly turn on you"
Jamie let out a sigh and lent against Dean's shoulder, "He's been acting really weird"
"Weird how?"
Jamie's face squeezed up with concentration, trying to find the right words to express how she felt. "It's like he doesn't like me anymore and doesn't want to be with me but hasn't got around to telling me. It's like I'm on his to-do list but he keeps putting it off."
Dean let out a breath, this was what he wanted, at least this is what he thought he wanted. "Jamie, this job takes alot out of you, it takes sometimes more than you can give, you wind up giving more than you think and sometimes you realise that all its done is make you tired. I don't think Punk hates you, I think maybe, he's just tired, let him bounce back and you'll see that he loves you"
Jamie shook her head, "I know all that Dean, my father does this too remember, so did my sister"
"Batman was a wrestler?" Seth interrupted wondering just how many jobs Batman had had.
Jamie finally let a Jamie-like smile come to her face "No silly-man, The Green Lantern used to wrestle, she doesn't anymore."
"Jamie I really think Punk is just over tired, trust me, I don't think he hates you" Dean put the subject back on track, trying to reassure his little buddy.
"I guess so" Jamie shrugged but not really believing it.
"Have you and Punk, you know" Dean waved his fingers around, Jamie just looked at him blankly making his realise his mistake, Jamie didn't get subtle signs like that, he had to be direct. "Have you and Punk had sex yet?"
Jamie shook her head, "I tried kissing him yesterday and he just lept away like I was on fire. You don't think I suddenly repulse him do you?"
Dean didn't say anything, he had no idea what to make of this, it seemed that Punk was crazy about her and now suddenly he had lost interest? Something didn't add up and he wanted to know why.
"Jamie, can you do me a huge favour?" Dean asked knowing how much Jamie loved to help, helping made her smile so he would try it.
Jamie however didn't smile, she just shrugged.
"Can you find me a flag with purple moons and if you can, get me a drinky-drink"
Jamie got to her feet, "Sure, I'll see what I can do"
She left so sadly it made Dean's heart ache.
"You're going to Hell Ambrose, just so you know" Seth piped up as soon as the door was shut and they were alone.
"Of course I'm going to Hell Seth, I've done some pretty bad things in my life," Dean gave a cold laugh "Ha! Of course I'm going to Hell, you'd have to be an idiot not to know that"
"No, I meant for what you're about to do to Jamie"
"I ain't gonna do nothing to Jamie"
"Really? Cause wasn't it your plan to wait for them to split then swoop in and pick up the peices?" Roman asked, "I'm pretty sure you said that Dean"
"I'm not denying what I said but I've decided to move on from that plan"
Roman and Seth didn't believe that for a second, "Really? You've just moved on from Jamie?"
"I realised something, I could be after Punk, before Punk, with Punk, it won't matter, her eyes and heart are only for him, it ain't gonna change for me. Faster I learn that, happier I'll be, besides Jamie is my little buddy, just like she's yours and yours. I don't wanna lose my little buddy over something that only half of her heart will be in, trust me, a guy don't want a girl whose heart belongs elsewhere. At least I don't"
Roman still didn't believe him, he wasn't sure if Seth did but Roman knew Dean a bit better and it certainly didn't sound like something Dean would say or believe in.
Jamie's high pitched voice drew their ears to the door, "Robin the girl wonder!"
Seth laughed, "I wondered if Batman had a Robin"
"You have to meet my friends Robin!" Jamie squealed, no doubt pulling her ivory wrist closer to the Shield.
The door burst open and for a moment, the usual Jamie was back, attached to her tiny hand was a tall, pale girl. Long white hair in plaits and black sunnies resting on her head. Every inch of her was white, like ivory marble except her clothing (and her glasses) which was black, she was a walking old-school photograph.
"Guys, this is Robin the girl wonder!" Jamie announced proudly,
"Or you can call me Storm" She said nicely taking her wrist back from Jamie,
"I'm Roman and this is Seth"
Dean hadn't said a word, he just stared at her, she was beautiful. He was so taken that he momentarily forgotten how to do anything else, he could only breathe, blink and stare. Storm gave his friends a look,
"Is he alright? He's staring at me all weird-like"
"Yeah, he got eyes for his birthday and he's just testing them out" Seth assured her while Roman nudged Dean in the ribs, he didn't even respond, he just kept staring at the pretty girl standing beside Jamie. It was a beauty he had never witnessed about anyone, even Jamie hadn't made him forget how to function. Storm truely was something else.
"Well I'll let him do that, unless he got the gift of touch for his birthday as well?" Storm asked hoping that she didn't have to kick him as well, Jamie would be so upset, it was actually the second thing Jamie had said to her, 'Don't kick my friends, its rude'
"Nah, we'll get him that for Christmas" Seth laughed as Dean inched closer to Storm, like she was an animal in a cage.
"Ok, we're leaving now Jamie, he's really creepy me out, I ain't been this creeped out since Raven dressed up like the Joker."
"Batman dressed up like the Joker? Cause thats not weird"
Storm laughed along with Seth and Roman, "Why do you think I was so creeped out"
Dean inched closer again as though if he went any faster, Storm would vanish.
"Yeah leaving now. Jamie can you show me to the exit"
In typical Jamie fashion, she grabbed Storm's wrist and pulled her out the door.
When the door was shut, Dean lent against it like he was hugging it. "Oh baby! Hot girl, hot girl, hot girl!"
"Would you like a moment alone with the door Dean?"
Dean wasn't listening, he was too busy going on about Storm, her lean legs, perky breasts and firm ass.
"I think I believe him now, I think maybe, he may have a thing for Storm"
"Mmmmmmmm Storm"
Storm shuddered as though someone had walked over her grave, or maybe it was the guy staring at her, having pure white eyes Storm was used to the staring but that guy, well it was just beyond usual staring, she was pretty sure he wasn't even breathing at one point, she was glad he was, she really didn't fancy giving him mouth to mouth.
"You ok Stormy-Jo?"
"Yeah, your friend was staring at me," She shuddered again. "But anyways, enough about me, how are you?"
Jamie shrugged, "I think Punk hates me again but he ain't got around to telling me"
"I'm sure thats not it Jamie"
She let out a defeated sigh "Is Batman back yet?"
Raven was away for a couple of weeks, her new promotion meant business trips every now and then, she was leaving all Jamie related matters to Storm and Harmoni, they were just as capable, but Jamie didn't think so. She loved Harmoni and Storm and they knew how to help, but Raven, well she was Batman for a reason.
"Not yet honey, maybe I can help?"
Jamie shrugged, "I don't think so."
Storm didn't take it personally, she had had her own troubles and she had found that Raven was always the best one to turn too. "Ok but you know I'm here if you need help"
Jamie just nodded, it was going to be a long time waiting for Batman to come home, it seemed that it would be even longer waiting for Punk to love her again.
