Hungry for your Love
The loud gasp that rolled over Makoto's lips rung loudly in Haruka's ears. Haruka immediately locked eyes with Makoto and he was quite surprised by the view. Makoto's face was slightly flushed and his lips were parted, making his breath come out in short and rather loud pants.
Haruka shivered because he knew that Makoto was really looking at him. The past hours, Makoto kept his gaze on Haruka without really taking in the view. It was like he saw right through Haruka, but now Makoto was actively taking in Haruka's body inch by inch. Haruka had hoped his lack of clothing would somehow spur Makoto into action and well, Haruka was really pleasantly surprised. Haruka didn't even bother to ask Makoto if everything was alright, he just averted his gaze and walked right into the kitchen. Haruka was still determined to make Makoto come to him even if all Haruka really wanted to do is crawl into Makoto's lap and just be close.
With a water bottle clutched in his hand, Haruka took a moment to gaze through the kitchen window. His mind drifted towards the accident and everything that happened afterwards. Haruka longed for Makoto more with each passing minute and Haruka knew well enough the fire was the cause. The fact that he could have lost Makoto was almost unbearable. Haruka was grateful to still have Makoto and he would do everything to protect the boy with the pools of sparkling emerald, even if he wasn't exactly himself anymore. Haruka knew it was just a matter of time before everything clicked back into place and if all it took was patience, Haruka would make the effort.
"Haru?" Makoto's soft voice reached Haruka and the raven-haired male turned around. Makoto's shocked expression was gone by now and Haruka tilted his head a little and regarded Makoto with a soft smile.
"Do you… uhm…" Makoto cast his gaze down and Haruka just waited until Makoto would continue. A part of Haruka really wanted to help Makoto and maybe make a few guesses but if Makoto didn't learn how to ask things again… Makoto needed to take a few steps by himself but Haruka would be there to catch him if he were to fall.
"I was wondering if… you maybe wanted to do something today?" Makoto finally asked and Haruka tapped his finger to his chin and started thinking. It would be a huge leap for both of them to go out again. Haruka was well aware that it was silly to be afraid because what are the odds that the same accident happens to you twice?
"If you want to go out, we can," Haruka answered and Makoto nodded. An awkward silence crawled between them because it was one thing to establish that you want to go out, it's another to decide what you're going to do.
"So what do you want to do?" Haruka asked and Makoto kept shifting his weight from one foot to the other, gazing everywhere but at Haruka.
"It's so hard…" Makoto whispered and Haruka frowned because he didn't have a clue what Makoto was talking about.
"What?"
"I can't think when you… are wearing so little clothes." The last words of Makoto's sentence were whispered and Haruka had to bite his bottom lip to prevent him from laughing. Haruka looked at himself and he could see why Makoto was struggling. Haruka was only wearing silky dark blue boxer shorts and they hardly left anything to the imagination. He had done it on purpose and it was cute to see Makoto being so flustered. It was new and refreshing at the same time.
"You can look at me," Haruka added, hoping that Makoto would get over his shyness. Makoto did lift his eyes at that but he still felt like it was wrong. His body did heat up at the sight of Haruka being almost naked but it still wasn't like before. He felt that he had no right to stare at Haruka if vital feelings were missing.
"We could go… to that new amusement park?" Makoto suggested quickly, feeling glad that he could get around what Haruka had said. Makoto knew it was kind of rude to ignore Haruka's comment but he honestly didn't know what else to do. He wished that he could go back to feeling what he had always felt when he was near Haruka but it seemed to be a lot harder than he could have ever imagined. Makoto was brought up with the idea that if you love someone with your entire heart, those feelings never go away again. It was true that he was still in love with Haruka because Makoto has probably loved Haruka his entire life without really realising it.
"You sure? It's fun but also very exciting…" Haruka added, afraid that maybe too much excitement would make them relive certain memories. Haruka clearly remembered that the doctors said to take it easy and to do things that you are used to. However, visiting an amusement park with dazzling attractions that make your head spin isn't something you get to experience every day.
"We could invite the other's as well and there are also less exciting rides," Makoto supplied, hoping that Haruka would just say yes. Makoto longed for some fresh air and he needed some space. Being in Haruka's house was wonderful and familiar but Haruka was simply all around him. Everything was a reminder of Haruka and his scent was simply everywhere. Makoto hated himself for feeling this way but he hoped that after the visit to the amusement park, he could go back to handle being around Haruka all the time.
"Okay, if that's what you want, I'll call everybody," Haruka whispered and when he wanted to pass Makoto in the kitchen, Makoto stopped him. Haruka's breath stuttered and his eyes instantly met with Makoto's. Their bodies were pressed together and Haruka could feel his heart begin to pound so loud that it almost hurt. Haruka had to really stop himself from throwing his arms around Makoto's neck and drag him down to kiss him senseless. He yearned for those soft lips that could make him forget everything around him.
Makoto leaned closer and then pressed his lips against Haruka's cheek. The kiss was soft and Makoto even lingered for a few seconds before retracting his lips.
"I know it's not much but…" Makoto started explaining but Haruka cut him off with a kiss on the tip of his nose.
Now I know I found you, I'll never walk away. Through the good and bad times, it's you that makes me stay…
The sun showered the amusement park with warmth and Haruka enjoyed basking in the light and warmth. He would often close his eyes and then tilt his head just slightly, feeling the skin on his face warm up. It was a warm day and there were a lot of visitors but it was still manageable. The lines in front of the attractions weren't overly long and Haruka was glad he agreed to Makoto's suggestion. Haruka looked to his left and smiled when he saw how relaxed Makoto had become. If all, he was actually the one that was most apprehensive and afraid to face the many dangers the real world could hold. However, seeing how carefree Makoto looked made this trip bearable for Haruka, it had been a long time since Makoto genuinely smiled and laughed out loud. Haruka was so deep in thought that he didn't notice a large hand grabbing one of his own.
He was pulled forward roughly and he almost stumbled to the ground. Haruka looked up and saw that it was Makoto who was dragging him along so roughly and quickly.
"What's wrong?" Haruka asked immediately, the sight of being dragged along reminded him of something else. It felt like he had to run away from something again and the fear suddenly gripped at his heart.
"I want to go on that ride, hurry," Makoto smiled widely and Haruka simply nodded and let himself be dragged. Haruka didn't even get a chance to look at the attraction they were supposed to go on. All he knew is that his friends were shouting good luck and stayed behind. It bothered Haruka that he wasn't quite aware of why he would need good luck. He wasn't a scaredy cat at all so there was hardly anything that would make him shiver and shake. To top it all off, Makoto was actually a person that was really picky about his rides, if they had too many loops and went too fast, he would never go near them. Haruka breathed out a sigh of relief because this ride was probably something that gave a small rush but nothing more.
"Doesn't it look awesome?" Makoto smiled at Haruka again and Haruka was too busy staring at his fingers that were still entwined with Makoto. He was too busy to try and control the happy fluttering in his stomach. Makoto pointed towards the air and Haruka finally looked up and he was ready to pass out.
"You're kidding right?" Haruka asked, this was exactly the one ride Haruka never want to go on. It was a huge tower and people sat in seats that went all the way up and then come crashing down again at a very high speed. Haruka wouldn't have minded if it was some crazy rollercoaster with loops and spins and twists but this…. Oh fuck…
"No, it seems so cool!" Makoto shouted before dragging Haruka further again, getting closer and closer to the point of no return. Haruka didn't dare to say that he didn't want to go on this ride. If Makoto really wanted this then Haruka would indulge him. Haruka did wonder why Makoto was suddenly so strong and less scared than he used to be. Perhaps this was just his way of coping with everything?
"You could've just asked Rin as well you know?" Haruka asked, he counted the people in front of him and knew that the he would be strapped and high up in the sky in about five minutes.
"I asked him but he didn't want to go," Makoto beamed and Haruka wondered why Makoto didn't ask him about his opinion. Not that it would have mattered much, Haruka would still go because he would do it for Makoto. There weren't many things Haruka wouldn't do if it came to Makoto. It was like Makoto had this strange power to make Haruka do things and Haruka would simply do it because he was in love.
The next thing that Haruka knew, was that he was sitting snuggly in a seat, clutching Makoto's hand like it was the only thing that would keep him alive. The seats were gently riding upwards and Haruka closed his eyes because if he would have one glance at the ground.
"Look at how tiny they are!" Makoto shouted and of course, Haruka had to open his eyes and then he felt his blood begin to race. They were almost at the top now and Haruka braced himself for the fall. Haruka turned his head as best as he could and he gazed at Makoto. If it was the last time he would be able to do so, he decided to make the most of it. Makoto was wiggling with his feet and he looked so excited. Haruka wondered if Makoto was still in his right mind but before his thoughts had the chance to really sink in, Haruka heard a click and then it took just three seconds. Haruka screamed his lungs out when the ride dropped down and he tried to focus on the happy squeals of Makoto next to him but it was too hard. It was all over before Haruka really realised it but his mind was so foggy and when he got up, his legs almost gave out. Makoto quickly caught him and the dazzling smile on Makoto's face was enough to make Haruka swoon. The dazzling smile was directed at him and Makoto's eyes shone so bright that Haruka felt like this whole ordeal was worth it.
They exited the ride and Nagisa immediately bounced up to them with a wide smile.
"Haru-chan, you're so brave!" Nagisa yelled with a sing-song voice and Haruka could only nod because he still felt a bit dizzy and nauseous. Rin patted Haruka on the back and gave the raven-haired male an apologetic look. Haruka's gaze flitted towards Makoto again and he was already heading towards the next ride with an ecstatic Nagisa on his arm.
"Is something wrong with Makoto?" Rin asked, he had been dying to ask Haruka but it never seemed like the right time.
"He's lacking the appetite for love, if you know what I mean," Haruka added softly, blushing a little from the rush that was still flowing through his veins.
"Huh? But I thought you and Makoto had…"
"We did but… it's still not the same, it's like he's really distant. He does things without really actively feeling what he's doing I think," Haruka added to his explanation and Rin nodded. The redhead hadn't seen Makoto since yesterday and even a genius could work out that something was still off about Makoto's behaviour.
"And how do you plan on fixing things?" Rin asked, he would love to help but he figured that Haruka was probably the only one who could turn Makoto back into the loving person he used to be.
"Well I was trying to seduce him this morning and it seemed to work and then he got this idea to come here and well… you know the rest." Haruka's voice wavered and it bordered on sadness and frustration at the same time.
"I would've loved to be there," Rin added with a wink and Haruka smiled a little, glad that he had Rin to stick with him during these tough moments.
The next attraction that Makoto picked out was far from a thrilling one. To Haruka, it was still thrilling but for an entirely different reason. It was called the Tunnel of Love and Haruka was quite happy to go on a gentle ride. Makoto had been picking the craziest things and Haruka had gone with him each and every time. Most attractions made his head spin and his stomach churn but he stuck with Makoto like a loyal companion. Makoto had thanked Haruka each and every time and his thanks was always expressed in a different way. Haruka had received small kisses on his cheeks, forehead, nose, and just below his ear. He had also received some lingering hugs and it were those expressions of gratitude that made Haruka follow Makoto everywhere. He would even go the end of the world if it was possible. Haruka liked to believe that Makoto felt something change inside of him every time he gave Haruka as kiss. However, Haruka couldn't have known for sure but he did know that with each passing kiss, Makoto stayed closer to Haruka longer and longer.
They all shuffled closer and closer and everywhere Haruka looked, cute couples were holding hands, kissing each other and giggling like lovebirds. A small part of Haruka thought it was cute, but the biggest part was jealous. Makoto stood next to him but Makoto made no move to reach down and give Haruka a small kiss. Haruka was still strongly holding on to his belief that Makoto had to make the first move so Haruka shuffled along silently, trying to ignore the obvious love in the air.
Haruka figured he could just turn to Rin and he knew the redhead would give him the love he was yearning for but it wouldn't be the same. It wasn't Makoto and Haruka was particularly hungry for Makoto's love.
Haruka found himself sitting between Makoto and Rin. It was awkward in a way but Haruka tried his best to ignore that thought. The boat gently moved down the steady stream of water and soon their little boat was engulfed in darkness. Haruka could hear Makoto's gasp next to him and he gently squeezed Makoto's hand. When Haruka received back a small squeeze, he was happy that he could comfort Makoto and Makoto would let him.
A pair of soft lips were gently pressed against Haruka's and the boy felt his heart burst…
You took control of my emotion and all that's left for me is total devotion.
A/N: This might not really seem like a cliff-hanger but… it can either be Makoto that kissed Haruka or it can be Rin… Let me know what you think! I'd love to read your guesses!
