Dawn knocked the door continuously.
"Giles! Open up!"
"Alright, alright…" she heard a mumble behind the door.
Giles looked confused when he saw her.
"Dawn, what are you doing here? Where is Buffy? Is she okay?"
"I think something strange might be going on" Dawn entangled her fingers nervously.
"What?" Giles sounded concerned.
"Well, everybody is acting… off. Too lovey dovey. Too agreeing on stuff I do"
She entered his house and sat down on the couch.
Giles turned to her.
"I don't seem to understand"
"Well, Buffy was with Spike, and then I was with Spike and then Buffy was with Spike and then Spike and I got into a huge fight. And now everybody seems to want Spike and me to be together. It is weird"
"Well, I suppose so." Giles took of his glasses and cleaned them.
"When did this start?"
"This morning, it happened –'' Dawn paused. "Actually it happened after I found Spike's birthday present for me!" she started rummaging through her backpack and took out the little box. "Here!" She handed it to Giles who opened the box and studied the little gem. He took it between his thumb and finger and held it to the light.
"Extraordinary" He said.
Dawn was in anticipation of what would happen, but nothing did. Giles seemed to act strangely normal. Nothing to be alarmed about. She wondered if maybe it would have been a big prank they had pulled at home.
"What is it?"
"Well, I have seen it once before. It is called 'calen ondo mela'. Also called the green gem of love. It is from the dimension of the Elves and it knows its owner. It is you. It makes people love you and everything you do."
"Me? But why me?"
"I suppose it could have something to do with you being the past key. There is still something in your energy that is recognized as a portal of magic. And if there are two things elves are familiar with it would be portals and magic"
"Give it to me" Dawn held out her hand.
"I think that might not be the best idea Dawn. You don't want to mess with these forces."
"It's mine and now I want it back" She managed to grab it and she closed her hand around it.
"Why yes, I would think it is" Giles smiled at her.
That moment Spike stormed through the door covering himself with his cotton brown blanket.
"Bloody hell! The sun almost had me there" Dawn looked at Spike.
This gem was going to change everything…
