As the group walked, they stopped for rice balls, courtesy of Brock and Cilan. Jessie told them all the story of how Ash caught his Primeape, with Brock helping. Jessie then called the girls to her, while moving out of earshot of the boys. "Okay, what's going on?" She asked. "Nothing" chorused the four girls glaring at each other. "Look, you can tell me, or you can be held in my Frillish's Psychic and stripped naked, and then tell me." The others looked at each other, and then Misty explained what happened. "Listen girls" began Jessie "Ash won't choose any of you if you hate each other. Become friendly rivals, and make peace." The others saw the wisdom in this, and made peace.

When they reached Celadon City, they went straight to the Pokemon Center. When they went to the Gym, the ex-Team Rocket was not allowed inside. Ash said "if they are not allowed in, then we will sit here until they are." They were then let in. The trio apologized to Erika and the other girls, before they went to see Ash's Gym battle.

Ash told Erika that he would fight her pokemon without any of his pokemon. She was skeptical, but agreed.

"Go Tangrowth" she ordered. [Flamethrower]. Tangrowth was roasted by flames, burning it. "Use Ancientpower" [Aura Sphere, Sludge Bomb]. The Aura Sphere broke through the Ancientpower and struck Tangrowth, and the Acid knocked it out.

"Go, Victreebel" ordered Erika in shock. '"Use Gunk Shot" [Psychic it back, then Sky Attack]. Victreebel shot a massive amount of poison, only for it to hit him instead. Then Ash glowed, and struck him from the air, knocking him unconscious.

"Go, Vileplume" said Erika giving up hope. "Use Leaf Storm" [Agility to dodge, then Fissure]. A tornado of leaves charged toward Ash, who dodged and made a fissure in the ground that knocked out Vileplume. Ash began to cough up blood. It was his first time using a one-hit knockout move.

While Ash healed up, Max, Jessie, and James fought in a triple battle against Erika, winning with none of their pokemon fainting.

They passed through HopHopHop Town A/N Yes, that is a real town in the anime. and through Scissor Street. When they reached the place that Ash left his Primeape to train, they learned that Primeape hated Ash for not coming back. ("You don't deserve to be a trainer you scum!") Yelled Primeape at Ash. Ash then left feeling depressed.

They went through Gringey City, and the place where they met all the Diglett. They then reached the Fuchsia City Gym. Koga talked with Ash and the others, and the ex-Team Rocket apologized. Koga then agreed to a battle with Ash and the others.

"Go, Venomoth" "go, Latias." Koga's and Aya's eyes widened. "Ven-Venomoth use Bug Buzz" {Latias, use Draco Meteor}. Venomoth fainted. "Now go, Crobat" {Latias, use Psychic to immobilize it, then use Draco Meteor again}. Crobat fainted.

That night, Ash was looking at the stars, when May came next to him. "What's wrong, Ash" she asked. "Nothing" he answered. "Yes, there is, tell me" she replied. Ash turned to her and said "Am I a bad person?" "No, you're not" said May in shock. "Am I?" "Yes you are" said May. "I left Primeape to rot, I did the same thing with Pidgeot, maybe I don't deserve to be a trainer." He then began to cry into May's shoulder as she held him. After a while, he looked up as May looked down, causing their lips to brush together. They jumped back, and then went back to camp, blushing heavily.
