Chapter 137
"I'm not actually tired." I say, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"You need to sleep."
"Why?"
"Because your body needs sleep to function properly."
"My body's fine."
"Are you this contrary all the time, or just when you're with me?" Howard say. I don't reply, besides a small laugh. "Sleep." He says. I lie back on the pillows, moving around until I'm comfortable.
"Do you want me to come and wake you up later, or do you just want to get up of your own accord?"
"Wake me up." I reply instantly. I'm not going to sleep, but if I get up too soon Howard would send me back to bed.
"Alright. I'll be back in a few hours, then." He goes to leave, but a thought occurs to me.
"Howard, wait!" I say, perhaps a little too noisily. He turns back, looking slightly worried. "Where's Noelle?" The look of worry disappears.
"Did that really require you to be so loud?"
"Sorry. But where is she?"
"She's in bed."
"Still? Is she alright?" I ask, half getting up, ready to go and check on her.
"Lie down." I sink slowly back into the pillows. "She's fine, she's just having a lie in."
"Are you sure she's alright?" I ask again, not entirely convinced.
"I'm sure. She's eighteen. Eighteen year olds sleep a lot."
"Okay then."
"I'll see you in a few hours." Howard says. I nod absently, lying back.
