A Different View – Chapter 2

Every day I seem to be falling deeper. Being cast down farther, into the spider's web called love. I don't know how I can deal with my feelings for her.

I felt her wrist begin to heat up. I looked up at her face. She appeared to be holding a fist with the other hand and her face was covered with fury. I was slightly surprised, but then I let her go. After that I asked if I could walk her to her dorm room.

She nodded unconsciously. I smiled. She gasped at herself, and I giggled a little bit. She frowned.

I assured her that I was laughing with her and not at her. Her frown lessened and then you could see the corners of her lips turn into a smile.

This time she grabbed my hand and we left the classroom.

On our way to the dorms it started to rain, the sky turned a dull grey and her face was the only sort of light I saw. It was a light shower but it was very cold. I put my blazer over her shoulders and she put her textbooks over our heads. It was a nice walk, even though we were almost sprinting to get to the dorms.

When we got there Imai-san and Ruka were waiting to greet us with towels, almost as if they knew. I went to Ruka's side and took the towel, where as Imai-san took the towel and put it over Mikan's head, and started to dry her hair.

Imai was smiling like she wasn't herself. I guess they really were the best of friends. I think I'm jealous. My heart starts to tighten as I saw them laughing so happily together.

Why wouldn't she look at me with that brightness in her eye's. If only she looked at me with that same kind of warmth, how happy I would be.

I took the towel and started to dry my hair furiously. Mikan looked up at me and smiled a sweet sugary smile. "Natsume, what are you up to? Why do you look so angry?" she asked me with a smile.

I freaked out on the inside but kept my face calm and collected, though I did try and hide my face under the towel. "Angry? Who me? No I'm just a bit miffed at the fact that both you and I are soaked cold to the bone." I said with a confident tone.

I think that Imai-san saw right through me and had started laughing quietly to herself. Oh no Mikan saw and she started laughing as well. How embarrassing! My face started to heat up and fire started appearing. "Natsume! Calm down!" screamed Ruka in dismay.

Why is Ruka freaking out so badly? "What Ruka?" I asked him calmly. Ruka's eyes were burning brightly. Surprising, he usually doesn't show his emotions so strongly. Then I saw it, the reflection of my alice is in his eyes. I looked around just to see that my alice was going off on its own. Probably only powered by my feelings. "You have better control than this Natsume-kun." Said a slightly hard to distinguish voice. I take another look around and see Narumi-sensei walking toward us. I douse my flames. He smiled in my direction and I started feeling slightly lightheaded. "NO! I'm not 10 years old anymore old man!" I yell in his direction. He looked proud and said "I know that Natsume-kun but you can't blame me for wanting to protect the others." In my head I knew this was the truth. He told us to head to our rooms and walked away in a sassy fashion. Jerk.

"Natsume…?" said a slightly shaken Mikan. I turned my attention to focus on Mikan. Her face flushed in fright. I felt so bad for scaring her. She was being held by Imai-san and face almost burrowed in her chest. "I'm sorry guys this hasn't happened for so long, that I didn't even think it could happen." I said with a disturbed mind and a shaken up voice.

Ruka walked up to me and put me in slight choke hold, jokingly of course. "I'm just glad you're okay Natsume." Ruka said sweetly. I have the best friend a guy could ask for.

Imai-san looked at us while holding the shivering Mikan and you could see the daggers form in her eyes. "Be more careful next time Baka-Tsume." She said jokingly I think.

I should try harder not to get on her bad side. "Okay Mikan lets head to our rooms now." Imai-san said happily. "Us too, Natsume hurry up." Ruka said almost on cue. "Okay." We said in unison.

As we started heading back I felt a tremor in my heart. It said to grab Mikan, I followed suit. I dashed up to Mikan and grabbed her hand. Startled she turned around and saw me. She said nothing. She turned to face Imai-san who was holding her by her other hand and said "Hotaru, I think I need to double check something by the door. I'm going to get Natsume to join me alright?" She nodded in agreement and let Mikan go. "I'll see you when I get back."

"You heard her Ruka; I'll see you in a bit as well." I said cheerfully.

We got back to the doors and she asked me what I needed. I couldn't really figure out what it was I wanted. Then I noticed she had dried tears on her cheeks.

I took my hands and carefully and gently rubbed them off her. Her eyes shut. I felt my heart race.

I found myself drawing in closer toward her. She could feel my body heat coming closer.

I removed my hands from her face, and slowly traced her body from her shoulders to her wrists and then finally to her hands; where I interlocked our fingers.

I could feel her heart beat quicken. I felt so happy, that before I knew what I was doing; I had placed my mouth atop of hers. My eyes closed slowly.

I felt Mikan release her tension and she got her fingers free and moved both of her arms around my neck. I moved my arms around her waist.

After a few minutes I finally came to my senses.

I was holding Mikan against the walls and kissing her.

My eyes began blinking and drinking in the situation.
I felt blood rush to my head. I released her. We were both slightly gasping for air.

"We're moving way too fast, I'm sorry." I said apologetically to Mikan.
"I thought so as well, it's just I feel as though I know you really well. So I didn't fight it." she said blushing cutely. I couldn't help myself and started to feel my cheeks blush as well.

I leaned in and kissed her on her cheek.
Her hand swung to her face like she was remembering it fondly.

She then said we can take things slow. I agreed.

We took each other's hands, and began interlocking fingers again. We turned around and together we walked to our rooms.

I walked her to her room. Pushed her to her door, and placed another kiss on her mouth.

"Na-tsume.." she said in between breaths.

That really did only get me hotter.

"Yes Mikan?" I asked sweetly with a smile on my face.

She blushed and said "Slowly remember? Let's talk tomorrow." "I do remember." I kissed her again chastely, gave her a strong hug and said goodnight.

She shut her door and I think I heard her fall against the door and slide down to the ground. I laughed happily to myself.

"Until tomorrow." I said to myself quietly.
