Robyn sat on the chair frozen in place, concentration filled her face as she sorted through the huge amount of information she had just received. Everyone in the room was now sitting down staring at Robyn, waiting for her reaction. "I'm her?"

"A 'her'." Fred said joking. Robyn giggled at the texan girl and Angel continued on.

Lorne had been watching the red-head in interest as Angel explained the ideas and history of the slayers, monsters and what had caused her to become a slayer. She was so captivating, the way her eyebrow quirked up in amusement, the soft smile that graced her plump red lips that she lightly nipped at when confused or embarrassed, the light blush that caressed her cheeks, the way her auburn hair swayed gently around her as she moved... She was an image of an angel. He was itching to see into her soul, he had only a tiny glimpse and god did he want more!

"Lorne... Lorne?" Angel said right next to his seat, bringing Lorne out of his trance. Lorne slightly shook his head and gave his full attention to Angel not noticing a pair of green eyes glancing over at him shyly. "I need you to take Robyn back home and keep an eye on her and make sure Giles and his Slayerettes don't try to take her away unwillingly."

Lorne remembered all the work waiting on his desk and mentally groaned. He opened his mouth to tell his boss that he couldn't play babysitter while 'Mount Never-ending' waited in his office screaming for his attention. His eyes flickered to Robyn who meet his gaze unblinkingly and sighed. "Angel-muffin, I can't..." He turned to Robyn who looked slightly frightened. "I-I can't protect the slayer..."

"Lorne... we have a very dangerous client to deal with that could blow Los Angeles off the map with a single word. And no offence but you can't really help out in that department but you can help me with this." Angel turned away and murmured "She seems to like you as well." Lorne's sensitive hearing picked up on it but decided to ignore the vampire's comment.

Lorne turned to the girl in question and offered his arm with a warm smile. Robyn smiled back and linked her arm around his.

Her head was spinning, his scent was intoxicating and wrapping itself around her body, his voice washed over her and she wished she could hear him sing, he looked like he had a beautiful voice and god did she want to hear it. He looked so different and she guessed that's why she was entranced by him... he was just a handsome demon who seemed so light and fun and was so bloody attractive! When she took his arm, her knees felt weak and that's when it hit her.

She was a slayer. It was her duty to save people from demons, monsters and vampires. And what was she doing on her first day? Checking out the first demon she saw and going back home with him. 'Oh god.'

After a long drive to Robyn's apartment, they walked into her small home and Robyn quickly ran into the kitchen to get her guest a glass of water. Lorne took this time to wonder around the neat and cozy lounge room. He was desperate to learn everything about her, he looked at the photos with pictures of Robyn with another man and woman. 'Her parents...' Next to it was another photo of Robyn and her mother singing their hearts out while her father played the guitar. 'Musically enriched...'

"Here..." Robyn said, walking in with a glass of water. Lorne murmured a thanks and downed the glass slowly, feeling nervous and becoming more nervous for being nervous. 'I'm in a kafuffle...' He sighed mentally. Robyn looked at the pictures and smiled. "That's my Mum and Dad... they passed away a few years ago..." She lightly touched the photo of them performing and her smile widened. "They meet on an Open Mic night and died on the way back from one..."

Lorne placed a warm hand on her shoulder and mentally rejoiced she didn't reject him. "My condolences sugar pie."

She turned to face him straight on and her green eyes looked up into his red making his breath hitch. "Thank you." She breathed as she slowly moved closer to the demon. Lorne's mind went blank and he too moved closer and closer to the slayer, his green hands brushing over her shoulders to pull her closer.

"Meow."

The two froze and quickly with drew themselves like naughty children with their sticky fingers caught in a cookie jar. Sitting at their feet was a black cat with all knowing blue eyes. "Y-you have a cat?" Lorne managed to say.

Robyn crouched down and scratched the black kitten between the ears. "Yeah, her name's Melody. You're not allergic are you?" She asked cautiously. Lorne chuckled and shook his head not trusting himself to speak. 'Oh god, I nearly kissed Lorne!' Robyn kept saying over and over in her mind. She didn't know whether she was thankful for the cat's timing or annoyed by it.

Suddenly, a golden flame appeared in the center of Robyn's bed. "What the…" Robyn moved closer but Lorne quickly grabbed her arm.

"Run." The little flame grew within seconds and began swallowing the room whole. Melody leapt up at Lorne and dug her claws into his jacket as if to say 'Carry me!' Lorne looked at Robyn who just stared into the fire in shock as the gold and red flames danced around with purpose. "We gotta go pumpkin, that's enchanted fire." Lorne explains hastily.

One flame in the shape of a hand reached over to the picture of Robyn's family and the young slayer's eyes flickered with anger. Just before it could wrap its greedy hand around the frame, Robyn snatched it off the mantel just in time.

Lorne then offered his hand to her and without hesitation, she grasped onto it. They tried to get to the front door but a wall of solid fire and smoke blocked the exit. The two back tracked and found another wall.

They were surrounded.

The windows of the apartment let out a tiny groan that only Lorne's hypersensitive ears could pick up. Just as the window shattered under the intense heat, Lorne pushed Robyn and Melody behind him and shielded them from the flying hot shards of glass. 'F-F-Fudge that hurt!' Lorne's mind hissed as he felt the shards enter his torso, legs and hand he used to shield his face. He looked at his shirt and saw the silky fabric slowly turn a deep rich purple from the blood pouring out. His vision went fuzzy. 'Oh blood…'

"Lorne!" Robyn cried. She looked at the broken window and saw their only chance of freedom. Shifting her grip on the photo frame and cat, she grabbed the green demon's arm and pulled him close. "We gotta go…"

"Agreed." Together they ran for the window and jumped out and fell straight into a thankfully open dumpster half filled with rotting left overs and other ghastly trash that cushioned their fall. Lorne's nose wrinkled from the smell as he gagged. "What on earth do you crazy cats put in this thing? It smells worse than my mother's beard." Robyn gave him a weird questioning look and climbed out. Lorne clambered out after her, trying not to wince in pain or show her the amount of blood that was gushing from his body. "Good aim by the way, how did you know we would get in?"

"I didn't." Robyn replied as she helped the pylean out. 'This isn't over' Robyn's slayer instincts whispered in her head. The slayer glanced back up at the apartment and paled. There was several gas bottles in that apartment alone. "Come on Lorne, it's gonna blow." Robyn half carried half lead Lorne down the street past all the other tenants from the apartment building who had gotten out and gathered around to gossip and cry to where he had parked his car and quickly shoved him and the cat inside.

The apartment then exploded and a wave of heat and flames shot out to the neighboring buildings and other structures.

Robyn fumbled with the wires as she quickly tried to hotwire the car before the police got there. Lorne looked over at her as she started the car. "H-hey Tweety-Bird, have you ever driven before?"

The engine roared into life.

"No but I use to ride a ride-on-lawn-mower… can't be that difficult." She answered as she adjusted herself on the seat. "But just in case, you might want to put your seatbelt on." If possible, Lorne became greener as he fumbled to put his belt on.

"This is just not my day…." Lorne murmured.

Robyn had to laugh. "I'll make it up to you, I promise."

Lorne looked up at Robyn and smiled at her in amazement. She had just found out she had supernatural powers, that vampires, demons and all the things that go bump in the night are all real and had her home blown up and burnt down all in one day and yet she still could manage a laugh.

"I'm going to need more than a sea breeze tonight…"

"That makes two of us."

xXx

Robyn pulled up into the private car park of Wolfram and Hart, reserved only for the occupants who lived within the walls. The top 3 levels were all apartments for all those apart of Angel investigations and other important members of the company. "Are you okay?" She asked the demon beside her as she stopped the car and pulled apart the wires to kill the engine.

Lorne let out a tiny groan of pain as the car came to a sudden stop. "I will be after a few shots of tequila Sugarplum." He folded his jacket up over his wound more tightly and slowly got out of the car, digging his red nails into the fresh paint job. 'Looks like I'm stickin' to limos.'

"Shouldn't we call for help?" Robyn asked worriedly as she got out herself. He wasn't looking too hot at the moment and he was moving around awkwardly as if even breathing was difficult.

Lorne just shook his head. "Don't want to worry them… and they're busy with a case and half a dozen other things." Robyn opened her moth to object but Lorne place his finger over her lips ton stop her. "It's okay Tweety Bird… It's not my first time." Robyn pulled back slightly and blushed madly. "G-Getting hurt I mean." He quickly said, his voice cracking slightly as he did so. "Anyway, I can fix myself up. Hazard of being a part of the Angel Squad, first aid is a big plus in the 'need to learn column'."

She didn't object the entire way up to Lorne's apartment on the sixteenth floor. Lorne unlocked the door and moved out the way for his guest to go in. The room looked like one from a sharp hotel with a few oddities that made it seem more like Lorne's. The walls were parchment white with matching carpet floors and the furniture was red mahogany, contrasting with the walls almost perfectly. It was mostly clean save the few jackets and shirts either on the floor or slung over a chair.

"Home sweet home." Lorne said in a slightly bitter tone. He took a few steps and suddenly collapsed onto the carpet.

"Lorne!" Robyn gasped, dropping her cat how skittered off under the bed. She rolled him onto his back and the jacket opened to show his blood soaked shirt with glass shards sticking out of his chest. "Why didn't you tell me it was this bad!?" She gasped.

Lorne gave her an apologetic look. "Sorry Tweety bird, didn't think it was…"

Letting out a sigh, Robyn glanced around the room. "Stay here, I'll be right back."

Lorne chuckled. "Oh believe me princess, running off was the last thing on my list of things to do." Robyn shook her head smiling, even when he was badly injured, he still cracked jokes as if it was nothing. She jumped up and ran into the bathroom, grabbing everything that she could possibly need. After hastily scrubbing her hands and forearms, she carried all her tools and antiseptics back to Lorne who had managed to remove his jacket completely and prop himself up against the wall. "Oh this is going to hurt."

Robyn carefully laid out all the utensils and Lorne grew fearful. "Don't worry, my dad was a doctor and taught me a few things." She then carefully unbuttoned his shirt, trying to avoid shifting the glass around. His chest was like the rest of his skin, green and hairless. He wasn't fat but he wasn't sporting a six pack either, he was just lean and green with a few spots like what was on his forehead speckled over his chest. 'I wonder if those spots are all over his body' Robyn thought to herself.

Overall there was twelve tiny pieces as small as her pinky nail scattered over his chest and arms, 7 twice as big as that and 3 large ones buried deep inside causing the most damage. Robyn picked up the tweezers and quickly removed the little ones and placed them into a green bucket with a dull clang. The medium ones caused more strife, Lorne flinched every time she touched them. In the end, she had to pin him down slightly with one hand and pluck out the glass with the other.

The first big piece was thrusted right into his chest where his heart should have been, but the fact he was still living caused Robyn to think twice about where his heart might be.

"Lorne you have to hold still."

"No."

"Lorne…"

"Sweetie, I'm not drunk enough for this."

"Ok then, where is your strongest liquor?"

"Wont help."

"Why?"

"I can't get drunk."

Robyn groaned. "You leave me no choice then…" Before Lorne could say anything, she straddled his upper legs just under his crotch and pinned his large hands above his head with one small but strong hand. "Perks of being a slayer." She said sarcastically, not noticing Lorne's shocked expression.

'I've died and gone to heaven.' He thought to himself. Robyn then pulled the shard out causing a world of pain. 'Maybe not.' "A little warning would be nice." He huffed as he tried to deal with the pain.

"I'm sorry but it has to come out." She replied grasping the second one just under his ribcage. "Okay this one's turn, just try to breathe through it okay?" She pulled it out and Lorne let out a strangled scream. "Sorry, last one…" Robyn let his hands go which caught Lorne's interest.

He looked down at the slayer and saw her hands go for his belt. "Whoa, whoa whoa Robyn…"

Robyn blushed furiously, her face almost blending into her hair perfectly. "I-I can't get to the last one with…" Her voice trailed off and Lorne just stared at her not knowing how to react. He was bleeding like hell on his floor with a piece of glass sticking out next to his right hip bone with a beautiful red head in a torn and worn office outfit sitting on his legs with her creamy white thighs on either side. He was torn between being turned on and screaming out due to being in a shocking amount of pain.

She pulled his pants and underwear down enough to see the wound but not enough for him to bare all to her. But when she moved her hand towards the shard, his hand shot up and grasped her wrist to stop her. Robyn looked up into his red eyes and quickly lunged forward and pressed her lips on his. Instantly his defenses melted and he returned her kisses with soft angelic kisses, his mind no longer functioning. Their kiss then picked up pace and became more hurried, Lorne's hand left her wrist and entangled his fingers in her wild mane of hair while his other hand wrapped itself around her waist, ready to pull her closer.

A shot of pain rippled through Lorne's body and Robyn's lips suddenly disappeared. He looked at the slayer and saw her panting heavily, holding up the shard of glass with the glow from the light on the roof behind her head like a halo.

"I'm sorry." She whispered as she threw that last shard into the bucket with the others. Quickly she began cleaning the wounds and the skin around them in silence. As she cleaned up the blood, the wounds slowly began stitching themselves up leaving tiny thin pale green scars. "But… how?" She asked surprised yet again.

Lorne sighed. "Darlin', I'm a demon remember? Thankfully, that includes 'hard to be killed'. The only way to kill me is some poisons, dismemberment and stabbing through the heart which is located in other places." He ended with a winning smile. "Just hurts like hell cupcake."

A minute of silence fell between them. "I can't thank you enough for saving me." Robyn said softly as she checked over his body for any more pieces of glass.

Lorne's dirty mind thought of many ways she could thank him but he was sure she wouldn't agree to any of them. 'She did just kiss you…' Sung that sly voice again. He figured that was the voice of the part of him that hadn't been laid in a while.

'To get a piece of glass out.' He countered in his mind. "It's all good sweet-tart." He replied to her as she finished her check. "Why don't you go have a shower? Odor de dumpster hasn't been in since they made monsters inc." Robyn laughed at that and nodded her head. "There should be a few spare towels in the cupboard on your right as you walk in." Robyn thanked him and walked over to the bathroom not noticing a certain demon watching her as she walked.

'Riiiigght. You keep singing that tune sunshine.'

'Shut up.'

Once Robyn had finished cleaning herself off in the shower, she wrapped a towel around her body and poked her head out the door to find Lorne ruffling through his draw. "Shower's free." She said sweetly, walking over to the demon, clutching her towel to her body incase god forbid it fell. Lorne smiled and turned around, holding out one of his colourful shirts.

"Here Tweety bird, I don't think you'll be comfortable sleepin' in your torn clothes." Robyn took the rich purple silk top and thanked him. Lorne waved off her thank you and headed for the shower himself.

He then suddenly remembered he had to tell her he had gotten someone to go out shopping for her and turned around just in time to see her towel fall to the ground leaving her in nothing but her black silk knickers. Robyn had her back turned to him and he was thankful for that, he really didn't want her to see him gawking at her with his jaw hanging low.

From the way he was acting it would seem he had never seen a half-naked woman before. It's true though, he did have a string of lovers who only stayed for one night and one night only. None of them had ever been human though, all had been demons looking for a fun night and sought out the host.

Finally gathering his thoughts, he quickly ducked back into the bathroom and leaned against the door breathing heavily. 'Tonight's gonna be a long night.'

xXx

"Home sweet home." Lorne said in a slightly bitter tone. I knew something was up, every move he made seemed to pain him in some way. 'Maybe he hurt himself really badly during the fall and I missed it.'He took a few steps and suddenly collapsed onto the carpet nearly scaring me half to death.

"Lorne!" I gasped, dropping Melody knowing fully well she could handle herself. I rolled him onto his back and the jacket opened to show his blood soaked shirt with glass shards sticking out of his chest. "Why didn't you tell me it was this bad!?" I gasped, angry and scared at the same time.

Lorne gave me an apologetic look which eased the anger a bit. "Sorry Tweety bird, didn't think it was…"

I let out a sigh, I couldn't stay mad at him and right now he was bleeding to death on the carpet. "Stay here, I'll be right back." I said warningly like my dad always did in emergencies.

Lorne chuckled. "Oh believe me princess, running off was the last thing on my list of things to do." I shook my head but couldn't help but smile, even when he was badly injured, he still cracked jokes as if it was nothing. I hopped up and ran into the bathroom, grabbing everything that I could possibly think of that would be useful and scrubbed my hands and arms hastily, almost scalding my flesh. I then carried all the tools and antiseptics back to Lorne who had somehow managed to remove his jacket completely and prop himself up against the wall. "Oh this is going to hurt." He said as he eyed the stuff in my hands.

I laid out all the things carefully, mentally preparing myself for what was underneath… and the wound as well. I could see the fear in his eyes as I moved closer. "Don't worry, my dad was a doctor and taught me a few things." Taking a deep breathe, I then carefully unbuttoned his shirt, trying to avoid shifting the glass around. His chest was like the rest of his skin, green and hairless. He wasn't fat but he wasn't sporting a six pack either, he was just lean and green with a few spots like what was on his forehead speckled over his chest. 'I wonder if those spots are all over his body' I thought to myself. As I touched his bare skin I noticed it didn't feel like scales or human skin, it felt like a whole new level of touch.

Overall there was twelve tiny pieces as small as my pinky nail scattered over his chest and arms, 7 twice as big as that and 3 large ones buried deep inside causing the most damage. Sighing, I picked up the tweezers and quickly removed the little ones and placed them into a green bucket with a dull clang. The medium ones caused more strife, Lorne flinched every time I touched them. After a fair bit of struggle, I was forced to pin him down slightly with one hand and pluck out the glass with the other.

After those pieces were taken out I looked at the three larger pieces and quickly decided to take the one out of his chest first as it would be easier. That particular shard was jabbed right where his heart should have been but yet here he was, still living and breathing. Maybe his heart was in a whole other place, being a demon and all. I was filled with curiosity to find out but I had more pressing issues at hand like a wriggling Lorne.

"Lorne you have to hold still." I pleaded.

"No." He said stubbornly.

"Lorne…"

"Sweetie, I'm not drunk enough for this." I let out a sigh.

"Ok then, where is your strongest liquor?"

"Wont help."

"Why?"

"I can't get drunk."

I groaned. "You leave me no choice then…" Before Lorne could say anything, I pinned his legs down with my own body with one leg on each side and held both his wrists above his body with one hand. "Perks of being a slayer." I murmured sarcastically, not wanting to look at Lorne's face in case I died of embarrassment.

I've known him for one day and yet here I am inches away from being 'On top of him' pulling out pieces of glass in places that should have killed him. I yanked the shard out a little more aggressively than necessary and Lorne let out a yelp of pain. "A little warning would be nice." He huffed as he tried to deal with the pain that I had caused.

"I'm sorry but it has to come out." I said as I grasped the second one just under his ribcage. "Okay this one's turn, just try to breathe through it okay?" I pulled it out and Lorne let out a strangled scream that tore into me like a knife. "Sorry, last one…" I murmered as I slowly went red. I let his hands go, the next piece was jutting out from just below this right hip bone, meaning his pants hand to be pulled down a bit.

I reached for his belt and I could feel him shift around uncomfortably "Whoa, whoa whoa Robyn…"

My face went tomato red. "I-I can't get to the last one with…" I stammered, cursing my luck. He stared at me with a weird expression I had never seen before. Something inside me stirred as his red eyes stared into my green. Mentally I shook my head and quickly made do of his pants and underwear, pulling them down enough to see the wound but not enough to embarrass him to next Tuesday.

'I am sitting on a demon's lap with his pants dangerously low… how did this all happen? I use to be normal…' I thought to myself as I moved to grasp the shard. Suddenly Lorne's hand shot out and stopped my hand in its tracks. I looked up into his red eyes devising a plan and quickly lunged forward and pressed my lips upon his. I felt his defenses melted and he returned my kisses with soft angelic kisses that added to the flutter in my stomach. 'Gods he kisses wonderfully.' I thought to myself as our kiss began to pick up pace. Lorne let go of my wrist but by then I was lost in the kiss, he entwined his fingers in my hair and grasped my waist to pull me closer.

'Waist, Lorne, glass.' I remembered why I had kissed him and without a second thought, pulled out the glass shard.

Lorne gasped out in pain and I instantly pulled away, feeling so guilty for doing what I had done. He looked up at me and he stared up at me intensely almost like he was seeing me for the first time. A part of me wanted to lean forward and kiss him again but sense and reason held me back. I barely knew him, and yet I wanted to kiss him again.

"I'm sorry." I whispered as I threw away the last shard of glass. Lorne said nothing, just kept staring at me weirdly. Quickly I began cleaning the wounds and the skin around them in not saying a single word. What was I supposed to say? 'My body wants you but my mind wants me to crawl into a ball in the corner and cry.'? No, that might sound a bit too strange for the strange demon. As I cleaned up the blood, the wounds slowly began stitching themselves up leaving tiny thin pale green scars. "But… how?" I asked, confused and bewildered.

'Where is his heart?' I questioned in my mind. A minute of silence fell. "I can't thank you enough for saving me." I said, softly breaking the silence as I checked over his body for any more pieces of glass.

As soon as I said that, dirty images filled my mind of several different ways I could thank him. 'Stop it, he's a demon and you're a slayer, you kill his kind and his kind kills innocents.'

'Oh but he's different, you can't deny that' Said a voice in her head. I looked up at Lorne who seemed to struggle with finding his words.

"It's all good sweet-tart." He finally replied as I finished my last scan. "Why don't you go have a shower? Odor de dumpster hasn't been in since they made monsters inc." I snorted at his joke and nodded my head, a shower sounded magnificent right about now. "There should be a few spare towels in the cupboard on your right as you walk in." I thanked him and walked into the bathroom, forcing myself not to look back to see if he was watching me.

As soon as I stepped into that hot water, I felt all my tension and worries slip down the drain. Today had been such a long and painful day, the only good thing that had come from it was having a new job in Wolfram and Hart.

Once I had finished cleaning myself off in the shower, I wrapped a towel around my body and poked my head out the door to find Lorne ruffling through his draw. 'My my my Santa how you've changed.' I thought to myself. Immediately I scolded myself and cleared my throat. "Shower's free." I said sweetly, walking over to the demon, clutching my towel even closer to my body in case, god forbid, it fell. Lorne smiled and turned around, holding out one of his colourful shirts.

"Here Tweety bird, I don't think you'll be comfortable sleepin' in your torn clothes." I took the rich purple silk top and tried to thank him but Lorne waved away my thank you and headed for the shower himself.

I turned my back to him and let my towel drop. Quickly, I pulled up my underwear and brushed my fingertips against the curves of my hips and waist. Strangely I felt extremely sexy standing here in only knickers, it was such a taboo it made it seem even more sinful. A young lady standing in a stranger's apartment (a demon none the less) in nothing but black silk underwear about to put on said stranger's shirt and sleep in his apartment for the night.

Maybe it was being alone for so long that drew me to him. I hadn't been with a man since I was in high school back in Australia and that seemed almost a life time ago.

I heard the bathroom door quickly shut and I felt my face redden. Had he been standing there staring at me half naked? A shiver ran down my spine. 'Tonight is going to be a long night.' I thought bitterly as I pulled his shirt over my head, not bothering to undo the buttons.

xXx

After a long shower and a heck of a lot of silent pep talks, I stepped out of the bathroom with only a towel around my hips and quickly glanced around the room. 'Oh that is just too darlin'…' I thought to myself as I spotted the slayer fast asleep on the couch, clutching the front of my shirt she wore.

Quickly pulling on my pjs, I scooped her up in my arms and carried her over to my bed, carefully laying her in the middle. I tried to move away but somehow, she had transferred her grip from her shirt to the one I was wearing.

"Stay here please?" She slurred sleepily. I opened my mouth to object but she pulled on my shirt with her slayer strength and I literally had no choice but to lay next to her.

Not that I minded of course.

A mental image of the mountain of work to do appeared in my head and I let out a tiny groan. "Just a few hours sweet cheeks, then I have to go to work." I said softly as I played with a red lock that rested on her cheek.

"Mkay…" She murmured burying her face into my chest.

"Goodnight little Robyn."
