A crumpled piece of paper flew across the room, and hit the wall, just above Koschei's head, where he sat on his bed with a book in his pale hands.
"Oi, watch it!" he snapped, and looked up, just to see his roommate bury his head in his hands with an audible groan.
It was the night before the TARDIS exams, and needless to say, Theta was a right mess. Koschei was a quick learner, who never needed to hear anything twice, and on top of that he usually spent their lectures actually taking notes. The slightly younger boy, however, spent most of his time daydreaming, which had led to the situation he now found himself in.
"They'll fail me!" he whined, his desperate eyes searching the notes in front of him for some valuable information, failing to absorb anything into his memory.
"They might." came the cold reply.
Theta looked up, blond locks falling into his eyes, and gazed pleadingly at his friend. Koschei sighed deeply;
"No, you can't copy me tomorrow. Don't even bother asking."
Another groan was heard, as the younger rolled onto his back on the floor, surrounded by large quantities of notes, literature and old work sheets. He stared up at the ceiling, silently accepting his defeat.
"What will I do if they fail me?" he sighed after a while, and Koschei chuckled.
"You won't get you TARDIS license. That's all there is to it. You'll be stuck here."
"But I want to see the universe!" Theta whined.
"You can't expect them to give you a TARDIS if you can't operate It." the blue eyed boy on the bed smirked slightly; "What if the chameleon circuit breaks or something? What'll you do then, eh?"
"I'll cross that bridge when I get to it."
"If you write that on the test they'll definitely fail you."
"Shut up."
The room fell silent, and Koschei continued to read his book (a collection of poems from the Ánni constellation) trying his best not to chuckle at his friend's obvious desperation. He wasn't trying to be mean, and in all honesty he really wished for Theta to pass the exam, but in some way he enjoyed seeing him this way – pleading on the floor – as kinky as that may have sounded.
"I'm sure you'll be fine." he finally said, as he threw an affectionate glance at the blonde.
Theta managed to smile faintly through his despair.
"If I fail, I'll steal a TARDIS and run away." He said, quietly, barely louder than a whisper.
"Sure." Koschei rolled his eyes.
"I'm serious. I'll steal a TARDIS, and then I'll abduct you and we'll fly into the stars."
"Woah, don't involve me in your rebellious plans."
"Would you rather I left you behind?"
"I'll leave that unanswered."
"Oh, come on, Kos!"
At this point they were both grinning widely, and Koschei put down his book to join the other among the books on the floor.
"Do you want my help or not?"
They ended up sprawled across the floorboards for the rest of the night, laughing about old memories, and planning their wild escapade across the universe in a (as Theta put it) borrowed TARDIS. It wasn't until late that they finally assembled all of the scattered school work into a relatively neat pile, and considered themselves done. The fact that Theta still didn't know how to fix a chameleon circuit was long forgotten, as their lips met in an innocent kiss.
"Would you really rather have me leave you behind?"
"Shut up and kiss me again, you bloody idiot."
