David's PoV

David's Grandma was acting weird; she told him to just go and hang out with his buddies- she never told him to do that- in fact, she was never very fond of his friends.

Even now, while Aden was kicking his butt at Mario Kart, he couldn't stop thinking about his grandmother's face.

He knew something was up, and he was going to figure it out.

Annabeth's PoV

Believe me, I was having a great time with Percy (no, not like that!) but I honestly felt that something was wrong.

To Percy's honest dismay, I had dragged him along to David's house the next day, Saturday. How did I know where he lived? Well, demigods have this special power that allows us to find anyone in our school.

Or, more commonly called a school directory.

I nervously rang the doorbell. I could feel Percy's heartbeat behind me. I could hear the birds scratch the pavement as they walked across the road (Seriously? Walking? They have wings!)

It seemed my demigod-ish powers were kicked into hyper power. Something was up, and I was going to figure it out.

Brian's PoV

The doorbell rang loudly at Aden's house. John stood up from his perch on the couch arm and opened the door. We heard him sigh loudly. "Hey it's school jerk- I mean jock." John had nothing against Percy- he just had a knack for insulting people.

"Who, Percy?" Aden piped up.

"No- me." John's girlfriend, Claudia, said sarcastically.

She twiddled her finger on the Xbox controller that she was playing Call of Duty with. Claudia was tough and not a stereotypical girl- and John wouldn't have her any other way.

Annabeth and Percy stepped into our little cave- the gang (me, Aden, David, Jake, John, Claudia, Avani, and Mikaila) watched them cautiously. Outsiders were not welcome. They were often beheaded, actually.

Kidding.

Well…maybe I'm not kidding.

Annabeth smiled as best as she could but it was obvious she was nervous. Or worried.

She spoke in a very measured voice. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but...we need to talk to David."

David looked shocked for a moment, but nodded solemnly and led them to the back door.

Something was up, and I was going to figure it out.

Percy's PoV

John Karon was annoying as Clarisse when she's stuck up.

Of course, it's not like I had anything against him, it's just he was annoying as-

"Ookay…" Annabeth started once we stepped out on the patio at Aden's house. David looked at us both in a way that seemed like he was trying to tell of we were going to shank him or hug him.

"How did you know I was here?" David crossed his arms.

Annabeth started. "We went to your house-"

"We met your grandmother," I continued.

"And she sent us here." She finished.

David didn't look satisfied with our explanation. Dang, he could be a demigod.

"So what do you want?" he asked somewhat defensively.

I swallowed and started. "Are you familiar with the Greek gods and goddesses?"

David nodded somewhat innocently, so we continued.

"Have any…unexplainable…things or…events happened to you recently?" Annabeth questioned. I knew she was nervous about his answer but her face was a void, expressionless mask.

Oh, my gods, slenderman Annabeth is scary.

David seemed to do a complete three-sixty. He looked nervous and scared. "No- I don't know what you're talking about."

Annabeth glanced at me and nodded. "David," I said. "What happened? You can trust us."

David looked around. "I don't want anyone to know. They'll think I'm a freak."

Annabeth nodded solemnly. "I understand David. What's going on?"

"I- I don't know." He sighed. "Sometimes I see… things. Things I shouldn't see. Weird monster things… a lady with a creepy goat-lion-dragon dog-" Echidna and Chimera. "Giant black dogs-" Hellhounds. "Even a creepy man bull thing once-" the Minotaur…really? "It always seemed like they were looking at me. It was freaking eerie."

Annabeth actually looked…nervous. Nervous. What an interesting look on Annabeth.

David took in a shaky breath. "And sometimes, I jump really high. It's like…I'm playing basketball and I take a jump and time stops and I'm up super high- above the hoop, one time. I can feel the air underneath me like I'm walking on it and that scares me but it's an amazing feeling. It's like I'm flying."

Annabeth grabbed my wrist (talk about friendzoning!) and put her head down. In a low voice, she said, "If he's seeing the minotaur…well the minotaur doesn't just show up for anyone."

I smirked. "What?" she asked. "What are you smirking about?"

My smirk grew wider. "'The Minotaur doesn't show up for anyone'?"

She thought for a moment, and then smacked my arm. "Shut up! I wasn't talking about you!"

"Mhmm," I nodded. "Keep talking, Wise Girl."

Annabeth rolled her eyes and walked over to David. "David. Hey." She said.

"Hi?" David seemed suspicious.

Annabeth snapped her fingers to manipulate the Mist around us. "My name is John Karon. This is my girlfriend, Claudia Vegas."

I was about to protest that, but Annabeth shot me a look.

David shook his head. "What are you doing? You're Annabeth and he's Percy."

Annabeth looked even more nervous. David hadn't looked fazed at all by the Mist manipulation, and that was certainly strange.

Something was up, and I was going to figure it out.

Sorry for the sort chapter, I've been busy with Science Fair and whatnot. But summers here! Expect maybe more frequent updates, and maybe longer chapters.

I won't be updating for the next three weeks to one month because I'm going to India! I get to see my family, so yay!

Right, anyway, please enjoy this somewhat substantial chappy. It's like ten, I need to go to bed because I need to wake up tomorrow at 4:00 A.M. for my flight. MERRP. I didn't even run this by Cookie Queen :/

Okay so when I wrote this out I had full intentions of giving you the chapter before I went to India.

But FanFiction wasn't working. So I tries but it kept going crazy.

It wasn't working in India either.

I got back yesterday, July 2, at 2:00 in the afternoon and I fell asleep until like 3 AM today. Right now it's 4:20.
