Percy's PoV
Monday arrived far too quickly for my liking.
My mother knew that I was going to Camp for an unknown period of time on Thursday, but she wasn't particularly happy about that.
Paul was more understanding (strange, I know). He actually tried to take me aside and have a 'man to man' conversation on women when they're pregnant. "Listen, Percy…this is going to be awkward but we need to talk. You know that, um, your mother is pregnant, so…"
I awkwardly ducked out of it, murmuring something half-baked about already knowing.
I'm glad I dodged that bullet, though.
When Monday morning came, and I was slamming my hand on the alarm clock next to me, Chiron IM'ed me.
While I was in bed.
In my boxers.
About to throw my alarm clock across the room.
Great timing, Chiron.
"Percy, put down the clock." Chiron said, sounding a little confused as to why I was about to throw the evil Hercules themed clock across the room.
I did as told. "Hey…Chiron…"
"Percy," Chiron put his hand to his face. "Put on some pants and then IM me." Chiron swiped his hand through the mist and the image disappeared.
I jumped up, grabbing a random pair of pants (no seriously I didn't even know if they were clean. [I suspected they weren't]) and a T-Shirt from my dresser and headed to the bathroom for a quick shower.
Two minutes later, I emerged out of the shower. I took advantage of the steam filled bathroom and, after scrounging around my room for a minute, produced a drachma and IM'ed Chiron.
Chiron showed up, in his office, confined to his wheelchair, for a reason I didn't know. "Percy," he looked up from his papers. "I understand that you and Annabeth plan to bring the person, ah," he looked down at his papers. "David, to camp on Thursday. Is that correct?"
"Erm…yes? I thought Annabeth already told you everything." I stepped out of the bathroom and the IM floated beside me, despite the fact that it dimmed slightly due to lack of steam (more steam and or light created better signal.)
"She did," Chiron confirmed. "But I just thought that I should confirm this with you so that she didn't leave you behind, as I imagine she might."
I scowled and waved my hand through the image.
LINE BREAK
I stumbled to my locker, having had to run to avoid Rachel. She was walking down the same hall as me, but she didn't see me.
Annabeth was reading a book while leaning on the locker next to mine. Her curly hair was tied up and a look of concentration on her face.
"Hi," I said as I opened my locker, glancing at her.
She didn't even look at me, and barely muttered a disinterested "Yeah."
I shrugged and turned to my locker, getting the books that I needed and stuffing them into my backpack. "What are you reading?"
"Um, it's some book Chiron sent me. It's about the Lotus Hotel." She glanced up for a second and then looked back down.
"Okay…" I trailed off, trying to place her distance as her nerves. Annabeth hated not knowing things, and her not being able to understand who David's parents were was probably making her go insane.
LINE BREAK
"Annabeth…" I whined, tugging on her sleeve like a child. "Annie please."
"Don't call me Annie." She replied sharply, turning back to her book.
We were in my car, at a stoplight. The New York City traffic whizzed past us and the air was filled with honks, yelling, and multiple curse words, but Annabeth was stuck in her book.
And that irritated me greatly.
"Annabeth, can you talk to me?" I said, irritated. My voice sounded sharper than I needed it to. "You've had your nose stuck in that book all day. Lighten up."
"Wow, Percy," she drawled sarcastically. "Lighten up? I haven't seen you trying to figure anything out!" her voice grew loud.
"What do you mean? I'm the one who got the idea about the Lotus Hotel thing!" I spat back.
"Oh, bravo," she snarled, though her tone didn't match her words. "The great Percy Jackson should get all the credit for getting the idea about something that doesn't exist! He gets to sit back because, too bad, he's a war hero, and the rest of us need to deal with all the crap that goes on in the world!" Annabeth sat up and snapped her book shut. "He's invincible and oh so cool so he acts like he's a God!"
Her accusations stung. "But you yourself said that my idea was good! And I do not act like that! You don't need to be so mean, just because you're a daughter of Athena, doesn't mean you need to act like such a damn know it all!"
"Oh, babe, I'm just being candid!" She growled. "You prance around like a godsdamn charlatan because you were offered to be a god, so you know what? Screw you Jackson!"
The car behind us honked and I stepped on the gas pedal. Annabeth sank back down in her seat and stared out the window. "Take me home, Percy."
"Annabeth I-"
"Take me home."
I complied and changed my route so that we were headed to where she lived.
We didn't talk for the rest of the car ride.
LINE BREAK
oh my gods guys I am sorry I know this chapter is utterly crappy and should be scrapped but I needed something!
Heh, so, my friend told me to look up the fanfic 'My Immortal', so I did, and I read it.
And now my brain is kind of panicking because I feel like I'm writing Percy and Annabeth just as OC as she wrote Draco.
So just tell me if you think my characters need to be a little more in tune to the books.
I dunno, it's just bothering me.
On the other hand, Percabeth had a fight. It occurred to me that Percy and Annabeth aren't all fluff and playful, they fight really hard too, so I thought that I needed to have them fight.
But it was a meh fight.
