WARD WAS NEVER HYDRA AND HE AND SKYE LIVE IN THE COUNTRY SOMEWHERE WITH THEIR KIDS, JAMES AND KATIE, SET SIX YEARS AFTER SHIELD FELL AND ALL AGENTS WERE RELEASED WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED.
"It was a warm summer day in Hiverville-"
"Mom, that doesn't make sense!" Skye laughed, "What doesn't make sense James?" The little boy who sat on his train cover set crossed his arms and tried to mimic his fathers 'you should know better' look, "Hiver is the French for Winter and Ville is the French for town, and you said that it was a warm summer; but it's called winter town so why would it be-?"
"Because that's what the story book says Jamie! It doesn't have to be right!" His little sister hit his arm, "alright you two, do you want the story or not?" The pair shouted opposite answers at the same time and promptly burst into fits of laughter, "James; if you don't want to listen to the story, go downstairs and see what your father's doing and Katie and I can stay up here and read the story." He perked up a little and slipped off his bed, "okay!"
As Skye finished the story she wondered whether James would be as much of a lady-killer when he was older as his father was- or would've been if he hadn't have sent his life playing the big bad Mr Agent. Currently he was a carbon copy of his old man; and that, was what was worrying her.
"Dad!"
"Oh, hey buddy! What are you doing down here? I thought you were with your Mom," Grant picked his son up and sat him on the kitchen bench, "I was but the story was wrong so I left." The older man smiled knowingly, "what are we having for lunch?"
"Sandwiches, what do you want in them, and what do you think Katie and Mom would want?"
"Peanut Butter and Jelly!" Grant rolled his eyes at his son as the doorbell wrung, "stay here and keep the flies away, hey bud?" James nodded and began picking at the jelly in the sandwiches as soon as his father left to answer the door, "Hey how can I- Coulson?!"
