AN: I'm so sorry about the long update unfortunately life and writers block got in the way I hope you enjoy this chapter please R+R :)

It begins

Merlin was starting to feel nervous, he hadn't slept at all the night before, he'd been too busy trying to think of a way to protect the dragons and keep his secret but no matter what scenario he came up with they all ended with him either exposing himself to Arthur or putting the dragons in danger.

"Merlin mate, cheer up we off to see some dragons"

Merlin had been so distracted he'd failed to notice Gwaine ride up beside him, and as much as he appreciated his drunken friends attempt to cheer him up that comment just reminded him of what was at stake.

"Thanks Gwaine but my last encounter with a dragon wasn't exactly exciting"

"True but from what I've heard these aren't that big, probably just wyvern" Gwaine said giving Merlin a reassuring pat on the shoulder before riding off to talk to Elyan.

As Merlin looked up he realised they had entered the forest near the village, and in an effort to try a clear his head he just took it all in, it was spring so the trees were covered in vibrant green leaves which filtered the light and he could occasionally see the birds flit about the branches. The smell of the wild flowers filled his nose and although the large group had frightened off most of the animals Merlin could still feel them through his magic.

The powerful feeling of life was enough to calm him a little and bring a smile to his face, after being around so much destruction in Camelot he needed it. Arthur noticed his manservants suddenly smiling face and instead of berating him for being such a girl decided to simply be happy for his friend, but of course he would never admit that out loud.

Unfortunately the smile fell as he felt five presences he was all too familiar with getting closer, it wasn't until that point that he realised Kilgharrah wasn't anywhere near the area which just brought up more questions than answers, ones he didn't have time to think about as the knights spotted five brightly coloured forms flying to them.

"Dismount, swords ready!" Arthur called although the knights were already doing so with Merlin seemingly materialising next to Arthur, magic brimming under his skin as he felt his kin approaching.

What happened next surprised everyone but Merlin who knew the young dragons well. The five younglings landed ten feet away, Falkor in the lead with Apep and Ketu slightly behind on his right and Fafnir and Katla the same on his left, their colourful hides simmering in the streams of light that broke through the shade of the trees.

"Relax, Arthur Pendragon we come simply with a message" Falkor spoke with what Merlin was sure would be a regal tone had he not be so young as it was there was a slight squeak to it. Arthur had he not been so shocked might have notice that even though Falkor's eyes had not once left him the other dragons kept snatching glances at Merlin and Katla was downright staring at him clearly wanting to greet Merlin more than Arthur.

"And this message would be?" Arthur questioned not once lowering his sword or allowing his eyes to wonder from the dragons in front of him.

It was only now that Falkor allowed a glance in Merlin's direction indicating the messages was as much for him as Arthur "The witch is moving, she brings with her the dark and death, she cares only for revenge and the throne"

"You speak of the Morgana" Leon stepped forward curiosity in his voice but like Arthur he kept his sword ready.

This time it was Fafnir who answered "Yes she prepares to attack Camelot once again and has gathered an army of sell swords and several sorcerers who feel wronged by Uther"

Merlin's eyes never left the dragons understanding the depths of the situation the knights however exchanged glances, they were sceptical as to why creatures of magic help them but knew that if what the dragons were saying was true then Morgana was angry, and Camelot was in grave danger.

It was Gwaine who finally broke the silence and asked the question on everyone's mind "If what you say is true, why would you help the princess over here how do we know you aint trying to kill 'im or us" Gwaine jabbed his thumb towards Arthur earning an annoyed look from him and amused looks from most of the dragons.

Apep however looked as annoyed as Arthur "If we wanted 'im dead as you so eloquently put it we would simply allow the witch to attack and join her pointless crusade." She counted indignantly while shooting Gwaine a glare so scary Merlin was surprised he didn't melt.

Merlin however couldn't help the faint smile that crossed his face despite the seriousness of the situation as Apep's attitude always amused him as it had a bluntness he wouldn't expect from a dragon especially when all he was use to was Kilgharrah's crypticness.

"Very well" Arthur started trying to regain some control on the situation "say we believe you there is still one thing I'd very much like to know"

The dragons simply cocked their heads indicating they were listening, which all the knights couldn't help privately thinking was very cute.

"I killed the last dragon so please explain to me how five, very young looking dragons are standing in front of me, talking to me, the son of a man who despises magic, about my sisters plan to take over Camelot!"

Arthur's voice has slowly risen as he spoke allowing some of his shock over the appearance of the dragons and frustration of the threat to his kingdom seep through and all Merlin could think was 'oh no'.
