"Hey, you know that whole saying how history repeats itself?" Charlene said.
"Yeah, so?" Maybeck asked.
"I think I know where they are" Charlene grinned, and followed the underground parade route.
"Where are we going?!" Maybeck said, trying to keep up with her sudden pace. "Wait, I know this place."
"Of course you do silly this is where I saved you" Charlene winked.
"Won't argue with you there" Maybeck smiled, knowing exactly where they were going.
It only took them a few minutes to find the cage. As Charlene had predicted, the remaining Keepers were all huddled together in the cage that was still suspended up high as it had been years ago. In their obvious excitement, they made their way up. Expecting praise and happiness at the fact that they were all together again, they were wrong.
"Maybeck! Charlie! Willa's in labor!"
…
"And that's how it all ended sweetheart."
"Wait, no, that's not a real ending Daddy!" the little girl, about age three, exclaimed.
"You're right, but it sure seemed like the end. The terrified but brave Finnegan thought he had met his maker. So did his brave, and beautiful wife."
"Mandy! I like that character" the little girl smiled.
"Me too" Finn grinned.
"So what's the ending?!"
"Ok, ok, I'll tell you" Finn chuckled. "Wilber had her baby right in the middle of all the action."
"No" the girl gasped.
"No, of course not, but she did have it rather quickly from what I'm told."
"You mean, you don't know? But Daddy, I thought you wrote this story, don't you know how it ends?"
Finn almost forgot he was telling what she thought was fiction. "Oh, right, I just gotta remember how I ended the story…"
FLASHBACK
"What are we gonna do?!" Amanda squealed in distress.
"We've got one wish left right?" Maybeck calmly said to Charlene, in hopes that they could save it a little bit longer, but realized now was the best time. "Le's use it on Willa."
They all agreed, except Willa. "I'll be…o.k." she huffed, "keep yourselves safe."
Finn's light bulb went off at Willa's last words. "Keep us safe, I've got an idea!"
"Speak it quick" Philby said in a panic.
"Our last wish, do ya'll trust me?"
"Yes" Amanda said, already knowing what his wish was, grabbed him, and planted a soft but desperate kiss on his lips.
"I'll win for you" Finn whispered.
"Wait a second…" Maybeck started to say.
"I wish for the Keepers to remain safe, in a place where no harm can coe to them, until this battle is over" he paused, looked at Amanda "whether I live to tell the tale or not."
"No!" Charlene screamed the loudest of everyone as Genie appeared suddenly.
"Your wish is my commence" he said with a pat on Finn's back. The clouds circled around the Keepers as they continued to protest. Amanda kept her eyes locked with Finn's until the moment they disappeared to where Finn hoped would be everything he wished for.
"Alright, let's finish this."
