I am on a roll! I am actually updating this story! *Happy Dance!* You guys can technically thank my parents, since it was their idea to watch Bourne Legacy and remind me that I have a story to be writing. I'm sorry that this thing is so short, but I couldn't think of very much for it, so technically it's a filler chapter. :P I hope you guys enjoy it anyway!
I do not own Avengers, Bourne Legacy, or U.S. Marshalls. If you recognize it from something other than one of my other fics, I don't own it.
Chapter Four
The Search
Deputy Gerard, as usual, was barking orders. "Biggs, Cooper, see what you can get on this girl's friends and close acquaintances, see where she likes to hang out, and with whom. Also try to find out what she stole and why. Cosmo, Newman, we are going to pay a visit to her home and talk to her parents. Let's go, people!" Everyone instantly got to work on their assignments as Cosmo, Newman, and Sam headed to Nat's house.
Nat's brother, Brian was the first one to come to the door when the Marshalls knocked. But he quickly called for his parents when he saw their badges. The Marshalls were quick and thorough with their questioning. They quickly realized that the parents knew absolutely nothing about their daughter's disappearance, and they weren't really concerned. Sam asked to search the girl's room, and the parents let them in.
When they first walked in, the room looked like a fairly normal room. The wall directly across from them was decorated with horse posters and a shelf of Precious Moments figurines. However, when they turned around and looked at the wall beside the door, they were speechless for a moment. On the left, was a large poster of the Avengers, bordered with computer-printed collages and what looked like book covers, all of them Avengers-centered. On the opposite side of the wall, was a large, framed Star Wars Episode One puzzle of young Anakin Skywalker with a large, Darth Vader shadow behind him. Above the puzzle, were more book covers, this time centered around Star Wars. The lower part of the space between the two "posters" was filled with more collages, book covers, DVD covers, and smaller posters of everything from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, to Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis.
"It looks like this kid's interested in lots of stuff," Sam said, almost to himself. They quickly searched the room, but found nothing really out of the ordinary. Certainly no government secrets. They thanked the parents and left the house.
Natasha was sleeping again, or at least dozing. Aaron was glad for that. The poor kid had been put through so much in the past seven hours. He had watched from the corner of his eye as she went through all four of her paperbacks within four hours. She quickly became bored, and started playing on her 3DS until her eyes started to hurt. It was then that she closed her eyes and drifted off.
Aaron had been uncertain when he got the call from Tony Stark saying that the billionaire needed him to extract the teenager from her home and bring her to Stark Tower for safe-keeping. He was suspicious and concerned that it was some kind of trap. However, Marta had convinced him to check it out. He was glad for that advise now. As he slipped peeks at Nat while she slept, he felt a sort of brotherly affection growing inside him. It was important for him to get her safely to New York so that Stark could sort out what was going on, fix it, and let her go back home to her normal life. He just hoped that there wouldn't be too many crazy adventures before they got to New York.
