Alright two chapters in one day!
I'm sorry that they're not longer, but as of right now I'm just working on getting rid of the quick ones now so I can focus on more of the heavier topics later.
Think of this as another after thought to the previous chapter. Because I've realized that most grammar mistakes are simple and easily fixed, when pointed out.
And just as a disclaimer, I do not know the full extent of these rules. Nor do I claim to have any form of mastery over them. But I have gotten A's on a handful of college papers, so according to my Critical Reading and Writing professor, I seem to have a somewhat idea on the rules… shocking I know.
Basic Rules you Might Not Be Aware of…Or Forgot
I just want to say that, I know for most that this list will not be helpful, and that makes me glad.
And hopefully this list is more or less a reminder, and nothing comes as shocking to anyone.
So just for my peace of mind, I've come to the conclusion that, as the title indicates, not everyone is thinking of the basic grammar rules when writing a story or publishing it. And why should you? After all, writing on fanfiction is just for fun, right? Well, yes, for most it is just for fun; maybe you even want to improve your writing a little bit. So now comes the question as to why you should care about the grammar in your stories. And the answer is because your level of grammar reflects on your ability to write a good story.
What do I mean by that I hear you asking? Well think about it- when was the last time you ever wanted to sit down and read a completely, grammatically wrong story? Never, right? The story may be good, but the grammar mistakes more than cover up any plot development because they are a glaring distraction.
The only time you should not focus on grammar is if you're writing a rough draft or brain storming. I will explain why in a different chapter… when I feel like writing it.
So now that the lengthy introduction is out of the way, I can begin the lengthier list of basic grammar rules:
Only use capital letters for proper nouns and at the beginning of a sentence.
A sentence should only focus on one subject.
For every sentence there should be one noun and one verb. A sentence with more than one noun or verb can be confusing to understand.
When a sentence is complete use appropriate punctuation. Unless a character in the story is either speaking, thinking, or the story is in that character's point of view (which would indicate the character is thinking when there are no parentheses used) do not uses the "!" or "?" to end a sentence.
If you are the one talking, it is okay to use"!" or "?" to end a sentence. Because it is outside the realm of the story.
If an apostrophe is needed make sure to use it to show ownership. An apostrophe is also used when words are abbreviated.
Whenever writing multiple sentences about the same subject or line of thought, use paragraphs to divide long segments of writing.
Should a line of thought require a list make sure to separate each article by a comma.
Use a comma when clarifying a subject or giving added information. For instance: Luffy, the captain, sat on the figure head.
Make sure case and number of the subject and the verb match. It the noun is singular the verb should be singular as well.
When connecting two lines of thought in a sentence, use a conjunction to make things make better sense.
The ":" is used to list things.
The ";" is used to connect two lines of thought that are similar,to combine them.
The "..." should only be used when there is a pause in the story, or a break in the story.
The "-" should only be used when there is an interruption in a characters thoughts. Often times, when another character interrupts them.
Sentences should be complete thoughts and not fragments.
Try not to use double negatives. Such as no not never.
Make sure to use words correctly.
Avoid repeating lines of thought in sentences.

Just another quick one I can check off my list. There are more detailed lists for grammar rules on the internet, all you need to do is google it if you need more clarification. I recommend purdue owl.
Thanks for reading, and have a good day/night!
