LAST TIME

"Miss Haruno, tell me how you know Itachi Uchiha."

I looked up to see a man with a kind face and a pleasant smile. He had short brown hair and soft blue eyes. My eyes then scanned the room, it was small and the walls were an off white, the ceiling had five light bulbs, two were dead. Lights. Behind the police officer was a mirror. Camera. I looked at my reflection, I looked like a scarred little girl with big innocent green eyes that could tell the world my every thought. But I want that innocent, and those eyes only showed what I wanted them to show.

I looked back at the officer, he was still smiling.

Action...

THIS TIME

"I-i don't understand." I gave the officer frightened eyes before looking down at my hands that were on the table clamped together till the knuckles turned white.

A hand appeared over mine and I didn't have to fake the stilling of my body. "You're not in trouble. We are just trying to catch a criminal." I forced myself to relax as I looked at him from under my bangs. the officer was still smiling, but his brown eyes were softer as he gazed at me. I studied him for a few moments, the hair was a standard dull black cut business man short, with some grey appearing around his temples. He had lines around his eyes and mouth putting his age at around forty. The wedding band around his ring finger was of a simple silver, with no designs. Bet he had kids too. I looked back into his eyes and asked timidly, "if you're trying to find a criminal then why are you asking me about 'Tachi-kun?"

His smile widens, "So you do know him?"

I pull my hands away from his gently as I nod.

"Where was Itachi-san last night? He says he was with you?"

I nod. "Yes. I had come over looking for Sasuke-kun but he wasn't there. Yuki, my cat, was giving birth but it was the first time and she's very young and with my parents were out of town I thought that I could get Sasuke-kun to come over and help me with Yuki."

"Why not go to a vet or neighbor?"

I forced a blush to my cheeks as I ducked my head and touched my fingers together nervously. I was acting like Hinata from school for her innocent actions were perfect and easy to copy.

"Well you see I thought that if I asked Sasuke-kun to come over that he might like me..."

I avoided the officers eyes as he spoke. "Ah, so tell me how did Itachi-san end up staying with you?"

I took a deep slow breath as the blush began to fade. "Sasuke-kun wasn't home but 'Tachi-kun was and since I didn't want to look like a weirdo I asked him for help with Yuki. He even named one of the three kittens."

"What did he name it?"

"There were two boys and one girl all were white except for the one boy, he had black paws and a black nose. And black tipped ears. He named that one Sanzoku."

"What time did he leave your house?"

I paused as if to remember. There was a small crackle in my ear and I was just barely able to stop from jumping. Coughing sounded in my ear before it went quiet again. "It was after three."

"Three?"

He was staring at my not believing me, "Where were your parents again?"

"Out of town."

"On business, visiting family?"

"Honeymoon. They couldn't take one right after they were married, since Tou-san had to go on leave."

"Tell me something." He was leaning forward again, his hands together and a very serious look on his face. "Would your parents like to find out that their only daughter had allowed a teenage boy over into their house over night? I don't think that you're the kind of girl to worry your parents so why don't you tell me where Itachi was last night."

'Innocence. You are supposed to be an innocent, sweet, kind little girl. Don't blow your cover!'

I chanted this within my head even as I gave him a another look of confusion. "How would I worry my parents? My parents love 'Tachi-kun, he would never hurt me."

I gave a little laugh "We use to have sleep-overs all the time. Did you know that he had this cute little stuffed weasel that he would always sleep with until I was twelve! I took it one night and he thought his mother lost it in the laundry."

Hopefully that should confuse them a little and make them doubt that weasel loving 'Tachi-kun could do what ever it was that he did.

"You had sleep-overs?" he looked positively baffled.

I laughed again, "Yes, all the time. That was before I found out his little brother was Sasuke-kun, of course."

"Of course."

"Um, if you don't mind me asking, what has happened to make you think my 'Tachi-kun would be involved?"

The officers face had gone serious, "That's information that I can't give."

"Oh."

After that he asked some more questions and I answered with half truths and vague or totally unrelated topics. He left after a half hour and I was left in the room. I stared at my reflection, "I hope my kittens are okay." I giggled into my sleeve. So far this day hadn't went to shit.
