In a swirl of light, Fable stepped out onto the back streets of Massachusetts. It was night here, though she wasn't sure of the time. Darkness, this was a worst time to be facing Pitch. The dried leaves left from fall bristled in the cold wind; the road itself was desolate, and the area seemed to grow darker by the second. Looking around, Fable pulled the daggers from her hair, and let them fall. Next to go was her bag, as she shrugged it off. The reassuring weight of her books, if it were possible, made her feel even more alone. The wind kicked up, and her leather locks flew, black sand began to trickle through the air, cutting along her cheeks. Taking a deep breath she called out into the night. "Alright Pitch, I'm here! Alone, as requested!"

The sand seemed to multiply at her words, within seconds; it caked onto the road. Building upon itself slowly, a pair of cold yellow eyes looked out at her, a horrid smile crafted of shark like teeth grinning, floating in the blackness until Pitch Black stood in full form. His arms spread, as if he were waiting for Fable to embrace him as an old friend. "Fable, dearest Fable

Her posture stiffened. "No games, Pitch, where is she?"

The smile on his face fell. His arms went to his side. Shaking his head he moved toward her "You wound me."

Nails digging into her palms, her right hand flinched towards the base of her neck where the sand scar lay. "I'd gladly kill you for what you've done."

This sparked a laugh. "My Fable, you've gone a bit dark since we last spoke. Seems only yesterday that you were huddled in your books, fighting tooth and nail, eyes wide"

At this he flew forward and grabbed her chin, his eyes boring into her hers. "I thought I loved the taste of your fear, but I really think I like this turn of yours."

Fable sneered and wrenched her head from his grasp. "Where is Lydia!?"

With a smirk, Pitch turned. "Aww, yes the girl. You've done well in preparing her, I'll give you that. Took me a while to break down the walls but…"

Glancing over his shoulder, he chuckled. "I always get through."

At his statement, a Nightmare materialized, and on its back was Lydia, her skin pallid and eyes sunken in and darting around; wide with sheer terror.

The creature came forward, and without any hesitation, Fable took Lydia off the monster's back. She was cold as ice, shaking in her arms. She was mumbling. "It's on the roof… Coming in, mommy it's gonna kill me…"

Her eyes seemed to focus for a second; they shifted and met Fable's. She reached for her, tears streaming down her face. "Gemma, I'm scared."

Giving her a tight hug, she cooed. "I know sprite, you'll be alright soon."

Fable reached for her bag, and pulled out the North's globe. Pitch glared at her. "I thought I made it clear you were to come alone."

Fable pressed her lips to the globe. "I'm sending her someplace safe, and then we can… Discuss things…"
