Hope for the Hopeless
Chapter 1
Sorry this took forever to get out! I just find it so hard to write about Regina's marriage to the King, it is actually super depressing. But here is the next chapter and hopefully I can write another one very very soon!
Enjoy :)
"What are you doing?" Regina screamed as she looked down at the drop of the waterfall below her, suspended in midair as Rumple laughed "You are out of your mind" she cried, fear sinking in.
"Use your magic dearie, poof yourself over and onto the shore" Rumple said with a laugh and a hand gesture, mocking her.
Regina concentrated, putting all of her energy and focus onto moving herself to the shore. After a few failed tries her heart was pounding against her chest.
"I cant!"
"Magic comes from emotion dearie, harness your hate and do as I say or I will drop you."
After another lot of failed attempts Regina looked towards the shore desperately
"I'm trying! It won't work!" She cried frantically.
"I guess you die then." Rumple said with one of his trademark giggles. Regina screamed as the hold on her disappeared and she was dropped over the side of the cliff. The water was ice cold when she hit it and she felt all the air leave her lungs as she was tumbled around at the bottom of the waterfall. Gasping for air every time she surfaced, Regina knew it was only a matter of time before she became unconscious. She tried to focus on using her magic to save herself, but the water was too strong and before she knew it she was pulled down, gasping for air as her lungs filled with water. The next thing she knew she felt herself hit a hard ground and was coughing up all the water in her lungs, gasping desperately for air. Her vision was blurred but she could see Rumple coming towards her with a snarl on his face. His magic engulfed her and lifted her of the ground. He was inches from her face as he grabbed her neck and held tight.
"This is the only time I will save you, next time you die dearie!" He dropped her in a heap on the floor as her hands flew to her chest, still trying to steady her breathing.
"I'm done with you today." Rumple waved his hand and Regina found herself on the floor of her room, a small puddle forming around her as she fought back the tears. Pulling herself up, she stripped out of her soaked dressed and studied herself in the mirror. She didn't even recognize herself anymore. When had she become this person who was surrounded by controlling men who took a thrill in humiliating her. She was a ghost of a woman and she had no idea when it had happened. A sob racked her body and before she could stop it she found herself crying, unable to control the tears that were flowing down her cheeks. She didn't even know why she was crying now, it's not like any of this was a shock to her, but as she made her way across the room, hugging herself as she curled up in bed, she realized she didn't care.
Regina lay there for hours; eventually she stopped crying and just stared at the ceiling, her mind racing causing her to miss the knock on the door. As it became more insistent, Regina rolled over and rubbed at her eyes.
"Enter!" She called out annoyed. She held in a sigh as the King made his way towards her, a concerned look on his face.
"My dear, you missed dinner, are you ill?" He asked as he sat on the side of her bed, bringing his hand to her forehead. She caught herself before she pulled back, allowing him to run his hands down her arms and bring her hands into his.
"Just a little nauseous" She lied, instantly regretting it when she saw a small smile appear on his face. "Must have eaten something bad." She quickly added.
"You have not eaten all day Regina, perhaps this is something more." The King said slowly, the smile still on his face. She shook her head and looked away, placing on yet another of her masks.
"Unfortunately it is not so my King." She said with fake sorrow, tears springing into her eyes. "Please, I must rest. Tomorrow is an important day and I do not wish to be exhausted." It took all of Regina's self control not to pull away when Leopold leaned forward and kissed her, his hand coming up to cup her cheek. Puling back he smiled at her, "Goodnight my Queen." Kissing her lightly once more he exited her room, Regina letting out a heavy sigh. She realized, as the tears began to stream down her face once more, that the woman she was, the woman she wanted to be, was dead. Regina was dead. And she needed to figure out who this new woman was going to become.
