Chapter 10

The four of us, Ethan, Benny, Rory, and I walked out of the school, but something unnatural in Whitechapel. I looked up at the sky, it was all purple and there seemed to be a funnel shaped cloud in the sky, but it was upside down in a weird way.

"Do you guys see that?" I asked pointing up at the sky.

"They're just clouds, nothing weird," said Ethan.

"But that one in the middle it's upside down."

I took a closer look, I used my vampire vision which was very useful and saw the funnel cloud coming from the top of Whitechapel Hill.

"We need to get this done and fast!"

We started to run at a normal pace, I knew that first we had to pick up Sarah. We ran a few blocks down the street and ended up at Sarah's house. I rang the doorbell. There was no answer.

"What's going on," Benny asked.

"She just didn't hear us," I said reassuring myself.

I pounded on the door next hoping for her to hear us.

"Sarah, please open up, we have to get this done now!" I shouted.

"Benny, do you know any unlocking spells?" I asked him.

"I know one, but I don't think I mastered it."

"Just please, try it!"

I stepped aside and benny stood in front of the door. He put his hands in front of him and started to say an incantation. Ex hostium uires animo praecipio aperire.

A few seconds wen by and suddenly the entire door just crumbled into dust.

"Benny, what did you just do?" I asked him.

"I did what you said and tried the unlocking spell. I never said I mastered it."

"Whatever, let's just go in and find Sarah before the world ends."

I try running into the house but all of the sudden I feel something like an electric shock. I'm then flung back out onto the road.

"Cody, you're a vampire, you can't get in," Ethan said, "you and Rory will have to wait out here."

"Just hurry please."

Benny gave Rory and I a thumbs up and ran into the house. Rory just looked at me weird.

"What?" I asked him.

"So what's your favourite kind of pie?"

"Is this the time for dumb questions right now?"

"I guess, why?"

"I can't believe it, the world is actually ending right now and you think it's no big deal?"

"Cody, we are immortal."

"Yes I know, but we're not invincible. If the world ends we end with it."

Rory just stayed silent for the past two minutes until Ethan and Benny ran right out.

"She's not in the house!" Ethan panicked.

"Guys just stay calm we'll figure something out," I said, "How long before the world ends do you think?"

Ethan looked up at the clouds, they were darker than they were before. Streaks of blue light were dancing in the sky.

"Judging by the sky, five minutes until all hell breaks loose."

"How are we going to get to Whitechapel Hill? It's more than five minutes away."

"I have a teleportation spell, come on hurry up!" Benny shouted.

He chanted an incantation and suddenly I felt as light as a feather appearing in front of me was the ominous church at the top of the hill. It was very windy and cold. It actually felt evil too. I never knew evil had a feeling until now.

"Come on we have to find the portal," Ethan said.

"I think it's inside the church," Benny shouted.

We all opened the giant wooden doors into the church and closed them behind us. It was actually nice and warm inside of it. Very comforting for some odd reason.

"Where in the world is that portal?" Ethan questioned.

He was right, the church looked no different than it did on the field trip. Something had to be up.

"Ethan, please tell me what you know about demons."

"Why?"

"I think this has to do with a demon."

"There's no way this can be the work of one demon, it's something a lot bigger."

"He's right," said a low voice behind us.

The four of us turned around slowly to see Bloodwing and Sarah laying passed out on a stone table.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked him.

"This world is weak and pointless, nothing but scum to our universe."

Bloodwing stuck out his scaly claw hand and we were all pushed against a wall. He took out a stone goblet and a dagger.

"What did you do to Sarah!" Ethan shouted angrily.

"She's not dead, well, not for long?"

Bloodwing brutally stabbed the dagger into her arm. She shrieked in a way I've never heard before. The noise alone made me want to puke.

"My next ingredient, the blood of a vampire."

He collected it in the goblet and looked at Ethan.

"My final ingredient, the blood of a mortal."

Ethan gasped, I've never seen him so scared before. I saw him float up into the air involuntarily. He was trying hard not to scream as he came closer to Sarah. Her arm was dripping blood, I could tell that in no time Sarah would be dead from blood loss.

I looked at Ethan again, he seemed to be in tears as he was laid down next to Sarah. Bloodwing sharpened his giant dagger. Ethan screamed in pain as the dagger cut his skin from his shoulder to his wrist. It was dripped into the bowl with Sarah's blood. Bloodwing took the bowl and started to chant.

A purple light came from it as the ground started to rumble. It was the portal. I couldn't believe I was watching the world end. It seemed to unreal that I had to face the facts. Ethan was in shock of all the action and Sarah was passed out losing blood by the second. I tried to think how we could mess this up and then I thought of an idea. I didn't know if it would work but I had to try.

"Benny, I got an idea!" I shouted to him.

"What how!"

"It may be risky but it's worth a try!"

"What is it?"

"We take Bloodwings goblet and put his blood into it and throw it into the portal."

"What? Are you crazy?"

"We have to try, it could work!"

"What if it doesn't?"

"Then the world ends."

"Okay, then let's do it!"

"Benny can you magically free us?"

"Yes, I'm pretty sure!"

A yellow light glowed around my body and suddenly I was free. Benny handed me a rock while Rory was still tied up.

"Hey what about me?" he asked.

"We'll come back for you later!"

I tested to see if I had my vampire powers and I did. I ran at vampirac speed and grabbed the goblet out of Bloodwings hands. It was too late the portal opened up. Scary creatures from the underworld were escaping. The world was actually ending.

"You brat!" he shouted at me.

He charged at me with full speed and I used the rock in my hand to cut his palm. His purple blood drained into the goblet as it turned red. It started to burn like touching a hot pot on a stove. The entire goblet turned red as the blood mixed with Sarah's and Ethan's.

"Wait, what are you doing?" Bloodwing questioned, "don't do it!"

I didn't listen and I threw the goblet into the portal. Bloodwing screamed as the portal started to close. Bloodwing started to break apart and suddenly there was a huge yellow flash followed by the sound of an explosion. Everything was gone. Bloodwing and the portal. Rory got up, he was free from Bloodwing's spell.

"Is it over?" Benny wondered.

I fell on my knees exhausted.

"Yep," I whispered, "It's over."

Ethan groaned in pain as he got off the stone table. He still had his injury on his arm.

"This was what I was worried about when going on the field trip," Ethan said.

"Yeah, I should have listened," I said back.

The four of us looked at Sarah who was deeply injured and was still loosing blood.

"Benny, quick, do a healing spell!"

Benny ran over and touched her shoulder. He breathed though his nose as he closed his eyes. Her wound magically started shrinking until there was nothing there. She looked as good as new.

"I can't give her more blood, she needs to heal on her own, but she'll be okay," Ethan said.

We all sighed of relief. Just thinking that five minutes ago the world was going to end, but now it's not. It seems so crazy. We waited until Sarah woke up and we all walked down the hill back into Whitechapel. It was a school night and I had to go to sleep so I said goodbye to everyone and walked on my way home. As I walked through the door to my room I fell onto my bed and just slept.

I missed it so much. No more nightmares trying to kill me. All I had were good dreams.

I'm so sorry about four months without an update but here it is the final chapter. I hope you enjoyed it.
