Ch. 9: Cilan's Not So Great Escape
At the witch's castle, Misty was harassing Bu-Ling for the Sapphire Shoes. Cilan was tied and put in a sack, with a winged monkey guarding him. He was still out cold. Brock was locked in a cell, whimpering. "Gimme the shoes!" the witch bellowed. "No way, the Good Witch of the North told me not to!" the Kansas girl replied, fearfully.
Misty had a way for her to give up the shoes... "Very well" she said looking at the sack, and continues. "Take that monkey to the river and drown him!" she commanded. The winged monkey obeyed and was about to take Cilan away to certain death. "No, don't! I'll give you the shoes just let him go..." Bu-Ling said sadly. The witch was pleased indeed... "Thats a good girl... I knew you'd see reason..." she then wallked over to get the shoes.
Unknown to them both, the sack had movement coming from it, and soon a familer green monkey tail poked out and opened the sack! Cilan then poked his head out and wonder what was going on and saw Bu-Ling about to give up the shoes. She, however, noticed her pet monket was free. "Run Cilan! Go get help!" she cried. The monkey was haitent to do so cause he didn't wanna leave his friend behind. Misty soon noticed and told her winged monkey to go get him. Cilan then bolted off.
The chase eventually turned into a fight, in which the winged monkey tried to reason with Cilan about not fighting his own kind. 'You're not like me!' he signed in anger and pounced on him. The two tussled and rolled about until they were right on the edge of a window. The winged simion flew above the window while the house pet was having trouble keeping his balance. He eventually gripped the side but was slipping and soon let go. He fell into the said river he was gonna be drowned in. Whats worse? He can't even swim... and starts to drown...
Back at the castle, Bu-Ling and Misty heard the splash. "He... hes... dead..." she lamented, morning her pet's death. "YES! Now hes no longer a thorn in my side! Now to get those shoes!" says the witch as she tries to take them... but is electrocuted... "Curses! I forgot... they won't come off unless you're dead!" said Misty, as she got out a hourglass and turned it upside down. "Ya see that?! Thats how long you've got to live and it isn't long... and I can't wait all day for those shoes!" At that the witch left in a huff trying to figure out how to kill the girl from Kansas, while she wept...
Back out along the river bank, Cilan had washed up on the edge of the Haunted Woods, but he was unconsicence... until a warm light came and he started to stir and wake up, coughing up any water that was in his lungs. He then looked around and saw the witch's castle and got very depressed cause Bu-Ling was still there... and soon brokedown crying.
"So, what are you crying about?" a very familer voice said. Cilan looked to the sorce and saw Chili nearby... and that he was as good as shot. 'Oh... you've lost your stuffing...' he signed sadly, but soon found some other things to use, including what stuffing he could find. It took a while but the scarecrow was fixed, better than before. "Thanks. You really are a good monkey... Bu-Ling is lucky to have you around." Chili commended. At hearing his friend's name, Cilan sunk into a deep depression, leaving the scarecrow confused. "Was it something I said?" he asked, but got no sign language response.
The two walked on and soon came across Ash, who had dents and whatnot in him, plus he had rusted. The scarecrow did his best to get all the dents and stuff out while the monke oiled him... how did he get the oil can anyway? Well, once the tin man was fixed he stood and walked about feeling great. "Thanks a lot you two, I feel great!" "Not a prob." said Chili. 'Sure...' Cilan signed, still in his depression. Ash soon approched him. "You miss her, don't you?" he asked, which received a nod from him. "Don't worry, we'll get her back and Brock too. You have me to help." "And me!" chimed the scarecrow.
Cilan soon looked hopeful. 'Thank you both...' he signed. Soon they were making their way back to the castle, but found the wall is pretty high up. 'Well, how do we get up there' the monkey signs. Chili looked thoughtful then had an idea. "Easy Cilan, you fly us up there!" Cilan looked at the scarecrow like he was crazy. 'Are you nuts?! I can't fly!' "Of course you can. Use your tail as a prepeller!" said Chili. The pet looked at up at the wall and soon his vision became blurred and was spinning until he finally fainted. Ash then spoke up. "Its a great plan and all, except..." "What?" "Cilan is afraid of hights..." the tin man finished. The scarecrow then faceplamed himself for forgeting that.
So now they wait for Cilan to wake up to he can fly them over the wall. Will he do it or is Bu-Ling doom?! Stay tuned...
