RECAP:
"Look, there is the forest!" The ToyAgumon pilot gestured to the woods below us. "And as special service, I'll do a barrel-roll!"
And…I screamed as the plane went upside down. But hey, I wasn't the ONLY one screaming, the others were too. After the horrifying flying rollercoaster ride we got, the pilot gave us each a parachute and a dropped us off the plane.
"Hey look! Is that a boat sailing through the grass?!" Tomoki pointed at the small boat-like thing below us.
"Isn't that Izumi and the others?" Takuya said.
"I think so!" I exclaimed.
"OI!"
"We've finally reached the Forest Land." I looked up at Bokomon as she spoke. (A/N yes, Bokomon is a she in the original version.)
"Forest Land, huh?" Takuya mumbled.
"Hey Bokomon," The digimon turned to Junpei,
"How much longer until we reach the Forest Terminal?"
"It should be just ahead." She answered.
"Just ahead?! Then we still have to do more walking?!" Junpei wailed, I just raised an eyebrow at his complaining. But nonetheless, we all continued our hike through the woods.
-THE SUN IS NOW SETTING-
"Hey, let's rest for a bit. I'm really exhausted!" I heard Junpei pant behind me.
"Me too…And I'm hungry too…" Tomoki huffed as he caught up to us.
"I suppose we'll stop here for the night." Takuya said and glanced at the rest of us.
"I guess we have no choice." Izumi sighed.
"It's fine with me." I shrugged.
"Whatever," Was Kouji's only reply.
"Great!" Tomoki cheered, throwing his hands up.
"Let's get some firewood and food then." Takuya commanded. Again, I must ask, since when did you become the leader?
Huh? I spun around when I suddenly felt a…presence. But, there was nothing there…was it just my imagin-
"Oof!" My train of thought was cut short when my foot landed on something…round and hard. And of course, my foot then slipped from under me and I fell on my poor butt.
"Oh, look! It's an apple!" Izumi picked up the round substance that I stepped on.
"Oh! It's a meat apple!" Bokomon exclaimed.
"Meat apple?" We asked in confusion.
"It's a highly nutritious fruit that has various flavours of meat when roasted!" She explained.
"How did you find that?" Takuya pointed at the meat apple.
"I tripped on it." I stated, before Izumi could answer him, then I stood up, brushing myself off.
"Let's see if there are anymore around here, maybe I'll trip on some again." I headed off in another direction.
"Come on, Bokomon! Let's look for some more!" Izumi yelled over her shoulder as she ran after me.
"Coming!"
"What about me?" Neemon asked.
"You're coming with us, Idiotmon." And with that, Bokomon grabbed his pant elastic and dragged him after us.
"I'm not Idiotmon, I'm Neemon."
"Yuki-neechan! I'm coming too!" I heard him scamper chase after us.
"Ah wait! Izumi-chan!"
"Okay, we'll look for some firewood." Takuya said, interrupting Junpei.
"But-"
"Let's go Junpei!" Then, they were out of range and I couldn't hear them anymore.
We were walking deeper into the trees, when Tomoki suddenly turned around.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Didn't you hear something just now?" He said, looking in the other direction. Izumi and I scanned our eyes over the area.
"Uh, I don't see anything…" Izumi finally said.
"Neither do I-WAH!" The others jumped when I screamed. And of course, I slipped on an apple, again….ARGH!
"Are you ok?" Izumi offered her hand to me.
"Yeah…" I grumbled as I let her pull me up. Curse my clumsy feet.
"Well, I guess we found the tree too." I pointed to our left at a large tree filled with the stupid apples that keep making me trip.
-WE ARE NOW BACK WITH THE BOYS WITH APPLES AND FIREWOOD-
"Hey, how's the fire going?" I wondered over to Takuya and Kouji, who were trying to start a fire. Takuya just gave me a loud grunt in reply as he rolled the stick between his palms until there was a tiny bit of smoke.
"Got it!" He huffed as he fell back, exhausted.
"Okay, leave the rest to me." Kouji leaned over and blew gently on the little smoke. Eventually, a small twig was lit and he threw it into the pile of firewood. I settled down beside Takuya and set the meat-apples-on-a-stick in a pile beside me. Izumi and the others were putting the rest of the apples onto sticks.
"Say…" Takuya trailed off as Kouji and I glanced at him,
"We all obtained the legendary warrior spirits. So how could we lose against that Grottomon guy when it was 6 against 1?" Since Takuya mentioned it, I recalled the battle we had.
"Well, up till the point where Junpei sent him tumbling down in a rocky avalanche, we were pretty much even." I said.
"But…then he evolved into a different digimon…" Kouji said with an extremely serious expression.
"Didn't he call that a…uh…beast spirit?" I added.
"Beast spirit huh…I wonder what that's about?" Takuya mumbled to no one in particular.
The three of us just sat in silence as the fire in front of us grew. The silence was then broken by Bokomon,
"Yuki-han! Is the fire ready?" I glanced back at the sound of my name.
"Uh, yeah!" I replied.
"Izumi-han! The fire is ready for the meat apples!" Bokomon said as she ran over with an armful of apples. The apples-on-sticks were then placed in a circle around the fire. Everyone was silent, and then Takuya spoke up,
"Bokomon, what's a Beast Spirit?"
"No idea…"
"Can you check in that guidebook of yours?" He asked politely. Huh, this boy does have SOME manners.
Bokomon nodded and reached into her pink waistband thing and pulled out the famous guidebook she always carried. How such a big book fits in her waistband, I'll never understand…
"Beast…beast…" Bokomon chanted as she flipped through the pages, then she looked up,
"There's nothing written about that."
"Don't touch it!" Bokomon snapped at Neemon when he was rubbing one of the pages with his paw.
"But this page…" He stuck his paw between pages that seemed to be folded over.
"Hmm, who would have thought it was folded…" Bokomon ripped the page open and read,
"I got it!" The six of us stared at her expectantly.
"The ten legendary warriors have two spirits! First there is the Human Spirit, then there's the Beast Spirit." We all gasped.
"Which means Grottomon is…?" Neemon looked off to the side, seemingly deep in thought.
"How do you still not get it? Grottomon is the Human Form and Gigasmon is the Beast Form!" Bokomon scolded Neemon.
"I see…So, in short, we only obtained the Human Spirits." Kouji concluded.
"So we're only halfway." Izumi sighed.
"Guess we still have a long way to go…" I trailed off. It was then that Neemon decided to poke Bokomon's head to get her attention, but he was just smacked away.
"Then we might beat Grottomon if we get the Beast Spirits!" Tomoki grinned.
"Of course! We'll search for the Beast Spirits and get our hands on them!" Takuya shouted in determination.
"Yeah!" Izumi, Tomoki and Junpei cheered, I just smiled. Seems easier said than done.
And…Neemon is back to poking Bokomon…and…he is smacked.
"I wonder if that's okay." Neemon said out of the blue.
"Of course!" Bokomon yelled at him and continued,
"No matter what, Takuya-han and the rest must obtain the Beast Spirits! Then they will recover the DigiCode in order to fill the holes in the land!"
"That's not it." Neemon finally said.
"What's not it?!" Bokomon snapped.
"That, look. They're getting burnt." Neemon gestured to the apples that everyone forgot about.
"Why didn't you say that earlier!" I shouted as I frantically tried to save our dinner. We all reached over in a panic, desperately trying to get the apples away from the fire. Once our food was safe, we dug in.
"It tastes like meat buns!" Junpei said as he bit into his meat apple.
"Mine tastes like fried chicken!" Tomoki commented.
"Mmm! Meatball flavoured!" Takuya said, surprised and pleased.
"Huh…it's like teriyaki chicken." I added.
"Shogayaki." Kouji simply said.
"Buono! Buono!" Izumi cried as she bit into her apple.
Suddenly, the sky went dark. I looked up to see that the clouds had covered the three moons. Then, I heard a strange buzzing sound.
"What is that noise?" Tomoki asked nervously. We peered over and saw…that the bark on the trees had lit up! We scrambled to our feet to get a closer look. It was unbelievable! There were videos that showed the world I left when I got on the train to the Digital World. There were airports, towers, mountains, buses, bridges, schools, and parks!
"What the?!" Takuya said, shocked.
"Th-this is…" Junpei stuttered.
"Why? Why is our world appearing on these trees?" Izumi asked the question we were all wondering.
"This is the Television Forest that shows the human world." Bokomon answered. So…Digimon could stalk us…yeah, that's not creepy at all.
"Ah! It's that amusement park near my house!" I cried as I ran over to the tree showing that familiar image.
"Looks cool! I want to go!" I heard Takuya behind me.
"I had promised Ai that I would take her there…I wonder if she and Obaa-chan are ok…" I whispered to myself.
"Mama!" I spun around at the sound of Tomoki's voice. The rest of us all rushed over to him.
"Tomoki's mom is really pretty, isn't she?" Izumi said.
"Mama…" Tomoki stared at the video, teary eyed. Then, the image started to fade. I looked up; the clouds were uncovering the moons.
"Mama!" Tomoki wailed with tears streaming down his face. I knelt down beside him and gave him a hug. He sniffled and cried, and it broke my heart. What did I do when Ai was sad?! Um…Uh…OH RIGHT! I took a deep breath,
Ame ni nureta hoho wa…
Everyone's eyes were immediately on me. (A/N this song is called You Are My Love and is sung by Yui Makino.)
Namida no nioi ga shita
Yasashi manazashi no
Tabibito
Tomoki had stopped crying and was sniffling.
Shizuka ni hibiiteru
Natsukashii ongaku
Omoidasenai kioku
Samayou
Yume wa tobitatsu no chiisana tsubasa de
Omoi no kienai basho made futari de
Tooi umi wo sora wo koete
Kurai yuro no naka de
Watashi wo terashiteru
Yasashii manazashi no
Anata ni
Aitai…
By the time I finished the song, Tomoki had calmed down and gave me a tiny smile.
"Wow…that was amazing!" Izumi ran up and hugged me. I blushed and mumbled a thanks. I looked up again to see that Junpei was gawking at me, Takuya had his mouth hanging wide open and Kouji blinked at me, surprised. Tomoki then started sniffling again.
"Tomoki, Cheer up! Here, it's meatball-flavoured! It's really good!" Takuya offered an apple to the sad little boy.
"You seem like his brother." Izumi said to Takuya. I smiled, honestly, I must agree with the blond. I blinked when I heard a soft "whoosh" sound above us, and I quickly glanced up. Nothing… Oh well, I must be imagining things. I walked over to the fire and plucked the cooked apples off the sticks so they wouldn't get burnt.
"Hey Kouji! Come here and join us!" Takuya yelled. I followed his gaze to see Kouji sitting by himself. Of course…
"I like being alone." Kouji answered and turned away from us. Takuya glared at the back of his head. I sighed, will these two ever get along? I grabbed two apples and climbed up the tree Kouji was leaning on. I settled down in the branches and bit into my apple. Mmm, meat buns!
"Hey Kouji!" I called to him through the leaves and branches. He glanced up at me as I threw an apple at his face,
"Catch." Obviously, he easily caught the fruit. Kouji raised an eyebrow at me but didn't say anything.
"It's pretty good." I shrugged and went back to my apple as he bit into his.
"And now, ladies and gentlemen! May I have your attention?" I heard Junpei's voice and the others cheering. I peeked through the branches to see what all the commotion was all about. I could see Junpei pulling cloth out of his pocket and using "magic" to change them. Huh, never knew this kid had this skill.
"It's a bit weird to be considered magic." Kouji said as I leaped down to land beside him.
"Well, at least it's entertaining." I smirked and he just shrugged in response.
"Why do you always like to be alone, anyways?" I asked him, and he flinched.
"No reason." I narrowed my eyes. I don't believe him…there must be a reason why he's built the walls to keep everyone out. Then again, I've also built a wall, but I definitely have my reasons for that…
-AND PEOPLE ARE NOW ASLEEP-POOF-
"What luck…Why do I have to watch after the fire?" Junpei complained.
"Well, you DID lose at rock-paper-scissors." I said as I rolled over to face him and Takuya.
"Can't sleep?" Takuya asked me, I just shook my head.
"I'm exhausted…and here I wanted to be the first one to go sleep." Junpei whined.
"Junpei. You're…an only child, aren't you?" Takuya said out of the blue.
"How did you know?!" Junpei seemed genuinely surprised.
"Just a hunch." Takuya smirked.
"Then what about you?" Junpei shot back.
"You have a younger brother right?" Takuya looked at me weird. Well, he did mention something about that when we were floating in ToyLand.
"Uh, yeah. He's the same age as Tomoki…" Takuya glanced at the younger boy sleeping to our right.
"I can see where the big brother attitude comes from." I smirked at him.
"The day we came to the Digital World, it was my brother's birthday. Ah! I missed out on that cake!" Takuya pouted, and I giggled.
"You remembered a bit late there, Takuya!" Junpei laughed and we joined him.
"Well then, what about you?" Takuya glanced at me.
"I uh…I have a sister who is 6 years old this year. On the day I left for the Digital World, I had promised her that I would take her to play at the amusement park. I never got to, cause, well, you know, I arrived here." I felt sad and homesick, but I tried not to show it.
"Oh uh…sorry?" Takuya gave me a sympathetic look.
"Don't be." I shrugged.
I suddenly flinched. It was that presence again!
"Did you feel that too?" Takuya asked me, I nodded.
"Feel what? What's wrong?" Junpei seemed confused.
"It feels like someone is watching us." I answered.
"And it seems they've been watching for a while now." Takuya added. We stood up and looked around, trying to spot…something. Our search was interrupted when Tomoki started mumbling and groaning in his sleep. Then he leaped up, shouting,
"Stop it!"
"Tomoki? Are you ok?" I asked, approaching the boy. The only thing I could hear was him chanting "unforgivable".
"What's wrong, Tomoki?" Takuya asked, concerned.
"Are you half asleep?" Junpei said.
Tomoki shouted and charged at them. Izumi screamed at him to stop, but Tomoki turned and leaped at her. She squeaked as she dodged the burning stick he was using as a weapon.
"Tomoki! What are you doing?!" I asked, starting to get desperate, but then he lunged at me.
"Yuki!" I heard Kouji yell my name as he stepped in front of me, putting himself between Tomoki and me.
"He's serious." Kouji grunted.
"Tomoki…" I tried to reach out to him, but Kouji stopped me, shaking his head.
"What's wrong?! Stop it, Tomoki!" Takuya exclaimed.
"I won't forgive bullies! I'll punish you for your crimes!" Tomoki threw away the stick and pulled out his Digivice.
"Spirit Evolution! Chakmon!"
"Oi oi! Stop that!" Takuya said as we backed away from Chakmon.
"I am the hero of justice. Kachikachi kotchin!" Chakmon blew frozen wind at us, possibly trying to freeze us to death. So obviously we did the smart thing. We ran.
"What the hell's going on?!" Takuya exclaimed.
"That's what we'd all like to know!" I cried.
"We'll be in serious trouble at this rate." Junpei concluded as Chakmon slowly approached us.
"Kachikachi kotchin!"
"Again?!" Junpei wailed as the attack froze a tree and he ran for cover. But the tree was falling, fast. I was standing closest to the tree. I tried to sprint, but the tree was falling faster than I could run. I glanced up and saw the branches inches away from crushing me. I squeezed my eyes shut, not knowing what to expect.
"Yuki!" I felt a force knock me over and I tumbled out of the way. I cracked my eyes open to see…Takuya looming over me.
"Are you ok?" He searched my face for injuries. The breath was knocked out of me, so I could only nod. I felt relieved that I hadn't been crushed to death by the tree but…Takuya is laying on top of me…Um…awkward much? Our faces instantly heated up when he realized the position we were in. He coughed, got off me and helped me up. *mental slap* Now it not the time to be blushing! Focus Yuki, focus!
"Ah! Takuya got to fall with a girl! No fair!" I heard Junpei's whining voice somewhere behind me. *sigh*
"Kachikachi kotchin!"
"In that case, let's all evolve and defeat Chakmon!" Junpei said as he joined us at the bottom of the hill.
"No way! We can't evolve!" Takuya cut in.
"I agree, we can't hurt him!" I added, Izumi nodded in agreement.
"I agree as well." Kouji said.
"Fine…" Junpei mumbled, knowing he was out numbered.
"Kachikachi kotchin!"
"None the less, we still gotta do something!" I shouted as we frantically dodged the icy winds.
Suddenly, there was a rustling noise and I felt the presence from earlier again. Takuya and I shared a look.
"What is it?" Kouji asked, catching on quickly.
"There's something out there that's been watching us the entire night." I answered.
"What?" Kouji immediately pulled out his Digivice.
"Spirit Evolution! Wolfmon!" Wolfmon leaped up and pulled out his light sword.
"How about this?" He raised the sword and a bright stream of light emitted from the weapon lit up the forest.
"There!" Takuya gestured to a digimon, so we pulled out our Digivices.
"Spirit Evolution!"
"Agnimon!"
"Mizumon!"
"Over there!" Agnimon leaped up and jumped on it, but it only ran faster. The digimon then turned a corner and he was flung off its back. Agnimon cursed as he landed.
"What is that?!" Izumi exclaimed.
"Bakumon, a digimon born from a medical computer. His special attack is Nightmare Syndrome." My Digivice explained.
"Wait!" Agnimon shouted as Bakumon ran away again.
"Come back here you stupid digimon! Ima gunno trap you in a cage!" I growled as we continued the chase.
"Wasser Verlies!" I created a water cage.
"Nightmare Syndrome!" The attack hit Agnimon just before the cage trapped Bakumon, and Agnimon fell to his knees.
"Agnimon! What's wrong! I'm not gunno be able to hold him in here forever! And Wolfmon is about to be frozen into a wolfsicle!" I yelled, desperately trying to prevent my water in cage from breaking. Suddenly, Agnimon stood up again,
"Chakmon, it's a dream! He's making you have nightmares!" Say what now?! Well, he better wake up soon! Wolfmon was backed into a tree and Chakmon was closing in on him.
"I am an ally of justice. I am a hero. I will punish the bullies!" Chakmon chanted.
"Chakmon! Evolving into a strong digimon to get revenge, is that really courage?" Chakmon paused and stared at Agnimon. He then brought his fists together and summoned fire,
"Burning Salamander!" Izumi and Junpei tried to stop him, not realizing his intentions.
"Alrighty, time to set him free!" I jumped, allowing the aquatic dungeon to dissolve as the flame attack met its target. Bakumon was blasted away and his DigiCode appeared.
"This corrupted, evil soul, this Digivice will purify you! DigiCode Scan!" Agnimon pulled out his Digivice and scanned him. Immediately, Chakmon unDigivolved and Tomoki emerged.
"Huh? Wolfmon, what are you doing?" Tomoki gave Wolfmon a confused expression.
"So, you woke up." Wolfmon grunted.
"Tomoki, you were having a nightmare!" Izumi said.
"That's right! Bakumon was turned evil by Cherubimon and gave you nightmares!" Bokomon explained.
"For awhile there, we were seriously worried!" Junpei added.
"But everything's fine now!" I ran over and hugged Tomoki.
"I'm sorry. From now on, I'll only give you happy dreams." Bakumon bowed apologetically.
"Being a hero sure is tough!" Tomoki rubbed the back of his head shyly, and we all laughed.
-AFTER UNDIGIVOLVING-WE ARE NOW WALKING BACK-
"Hey Kouji, thanks for lighting up the forest back there." Takuya said.
"You guys said you felt a presence, so that's why I did it." Kouji replied.
"Really?" I asked.
"Looks like savages have strong instincts, huh?" Kouji stopped and glanced at us.
"Ack, hey!" Takuya and I shouted, perfectly synchronized. Kouji chuckled and all three of us high-fived each other. Perhaps this is the start of a wonderful friendship between the hot-head and the lone wolf.
-POOF MAGICALLY BACK AT CAMP-
Izumi, Junpei, Takuya, and Tomoki were all sleeping soundly and I was humming a song for Tomoki as he slept, this was his request of course.
"They sure look naïve…" Kouji smiled at the group.
"Well, innocent is more like it!" I giggled. Suddenly, his Digivice started beeping and he took it out of his pocket.
"In order to obtain the second spirit, you need to grow more."
