Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon, just Yuki and Mizumon

RECAP:

Izumi, Junpei, Takuya, and Tomoki were all sleeping soundly and I was humming a song for Tomoki as he slept, this was his request of course.

"They sure look naïve…" Kouji smiled at the group.

"Well, innocent is more like it!" I giggled. Suddenly, his Digivice started beeping and he took it out of his pocket.

"In order to obtain the second spirit, you need to grow more."

I sighed as I splashed the cool river water onto my face. It felt refreshing. I glanced over at Kouji who was sitting silently beside me. He was staring intently at his digivice, as if he thought staring at it long enough would give him a clue.

"You know, you didn't have to come with me."

"Well, I wanted to." I shrugged.

"…whatever." He brushed himself off and started to walk away. I don't get him, one minute he seems nice, the next he's cold as stone. I sighed as I stood up and followed him through the grass. Suddenly, I heard a "snap" behind us. We whipped around to find…Bokomon and Neemon. Of course.

"Don't follow us! Got it?" Kouji snapped at them and ran off.

"Ah wait!" I sprinted after him. I shoved grass out of my face as I tried to keep up with the boy in front of me. Suddenly, he stopped and I barely stopped myself from running him over. I peeked over his shoulder to find that we were on the edge of a cliff. Yay, we didn't fall off a cliff and break our bones!

"Kouji-han! Yuki-han!"

"Waaaiiittttttt!"

"What are you doing?!"

"Ah, Neemon! Don't jump on me!"

"Bokomon! What do you think you're-"

"AAAHHHHHHH!"

The pair of digimon leaped onto our backs, which made me bump into Kouji, which then made us tumble down the cliff…*facepalm* We stumbled, rolled, tripped, fell and finally faceplanted with Neemon and Bokomon sitting on us. We sat up to find ourselves face to face with…a rock?!

"Woah!" Everyone jumped back in shock.

"What is that?" Neemon asked.

"It's Gotsumon! They are made almost entirely of rocks, though they are quite childish and are unstoppable if they go wild." Bokomon explained. It's a digimon?! Oh wait, now that I look closer, it does indeed look less like a pile of rocks and more like a, well, digimon.

"Are you alright?" I asked, I mean, we did basically land on him.

"Mind your own business." Gotsumon snapped back. I snorted but didn't say anything. Rude much?

"What do you want?"

"Nothing, why do you care?" Kouji countered. *mental facepalm* This conversation isn't going anywhere… I glanced between the two as they stared each other down. Then Bokomon finally decided to break the silence,

"Nee, Gotsumon-han. Do you know where the Forest Terminal is?"

"Hmph, as if I would tell you!" And with that, he sprinted off. OH FOR THE LOVE OF-ARGH! I am very tempted to find a hammer and smack him in the head.

"Well, don't just stand there! Follow him! Chop chop!" Bokomon ordered.

"Hai hai…" I sighed and chased after the digimon.

"Don't order me around!' Kouji snapped, but ran after Gotsumon anyways.

We navigated through the grass, making sure to keep the rock digimon in sight. But all of a sudden, he jumped and…just vanished into thin air.

"What…?" Kouji ran to the spot where we last saw Gotsumon.

'How?!" I gasped.

"Where did he go?" Bokomon asked.

"Not here." Neemon answered. Gee, that's REAL helpful.

"Yo, Gostumon! Give me a reason why you won't tell us where the Forest Terminal is!" I shouted at, who I hope was, the digimon. Either that or I'm just having a conversation with the air.

"Give me a reason why I should help you!" Gotsumon countered as he materialized on the rock right behind us.

"You're quite cold and stubborn! This sort of attitude is what might make you easy to control!" Bokomon glared at him.

"Hmph, assume what you like!" Gotsumon snapped. But then, he gasped and quickly crawled up the rock, staring at a cluster of mountains ahead. We followed his gaze and saw a huge chunk of the mountain turn into digicode just before it vanished. Now with a gap, the rest of the mountain collapsed, turned into digicode and vanished as well. Amidst all the dust and chaos, a figure walked out demanding to know "where the spirit was". Oh no… I recognize this voice…

"Grottomon!" Kouji said, confirming my thoughts.

"Unforgivable…" Gotsumon growled in outrage,

"That bastard…I will make him suffer!"

"Hold on! Don't be reckless!" I shouted.

"Shut up!" Gotsumon cried.

"You can't defeat him! Leave him to me!" Kouji pulled out his digivice.

"And you shouldn't be reckless either!" I exclaimed, then sighed as I pulled out my digivice as well.

"Spirit Evolution!"

"Wolfmon!"

"Mizumon!"

We leaped up and sprinted towards Grottomon.

"T-the legendary warriors…!?" I think I heard Gotsumon gasp.

"Stop!" I ordered as we reached Grottomon, making him pause in his "digicode meal".

"Stop you say?" He turned around and smirked,

"Ah it's you guys! Perfect timing, I was hoping to meet you here! Allow me to send you on your way to hell, right after I take your spirits! Grottomon! Slide Evolution! Gigasmon!" Before we could react, Gigasmon jumped up, right above us.

"Earthquake!" He aimed his fists toward us as he descended.

"Wasser Strahl!" I aimed a blast of water at the ground which shot me up into the air in an attempt to dodge the attack.

"Licht Sieger!" Wolfmon, on the other hand, spun his light sword, trying to deflect the attack. Faster than I thought was possible, Gigasmon smashed down and created huge fissures in the earth. The ground cracked apart and I was blasted back from the force. I felt myself slam into the ground, but I slowly picked myself up again, though I felt winded.

"Where the hell are you! Don't try to hide from me!" My head snapped up at the sound of Gigasmon. Oh wait, what happened to Kouji?! Gotta find him! Frantically, I leaped across the cracks, searching for Wolfmon.

"There you are!" Instinctively, I leaned to the left just as Gigasmon's fist whizzed past my head.

"Since the little wolf is hiding, I shall take your spirit first! Hurricane Bomber!"

"Wasser Barriere!" I managed to set up a barrier just in time, but holding the barrier together took almost all of my energy and concentration. I could feel my energy running out, and the barrier thinned. Suddenly, my focus wavered when I saw a flash of red out of the corner of my eye. That tiny distraction broke my concentration and the barrier fell apart. Smirking, Gigasmon lunged and his arm made contact with my abdomen. The pain shot through my body and the edge of my vision when black. I couldn't breathe. My body went numb, but before I could feint, I felt all my power drain and gather into one spot.

"I'll be taking that spirit now!" And just like that, I was stripped of my spirit. The last thing I remember was the sensation of falling, then, everything went dark.

-LINE BREAK-

I groaned when I felt something poke my side. I tried to roll away, but the movement shot pain through from my body and I jolted awake.

"Ah, Kouji-han! Yuki-han is awake!"

"Uh…where am I…what happened…Ouch, my…everything hurts…" I winced as I tried to sit up. Blinking, I took in my surroundings. Kouji was sitting to my right, looking tired and Bokomon and Neemon were staring at us in concern. We were inside a large cave with over a dozen other Gotsumon.

"You…alright?" I looked up at Kouji and nodded,

"I'm fine…it's just…" I glanced at my digivice, the screen was fuzzy and it felt empty.

"Use this on your wounds," A shell with ointment clattered onto the table, "It'll help relieve the pain." I mumbled a thanks to Gotsumon and picked up the shell. But Kouji just stared at it and said,

"Why did you help us?"

"I don't like ignoring the weak."

"The weak, huh?" I sighed as I used the ointment tried to dab it on Kouji as well. He tensed up when I touched him, but then he just relaxed and and let me rub the green paste on him.

"I'd like to see you do better." Kouji snapped at Gotsumon.

"I will! I'll become a hero and become one of the legendary warriors!" Gotsumon huffed and stormed out, though a couple of the others tried to stop him.

"He's probably going to the ruins again to look for the spirit…" One of them mumbled.

At the mention of "spirit", Kouji instantly perked up. He stood up and offered me a hand, I hesitated but took it anyways. And without a word, he walked toward the exit.

"Where to?" I asked, following him.

"Ruins." Was his only reply. Of course.

-AND HERE IS ANOTHER LINE BREAK-WHOOP-

I ran my finger over the symbol etched into the statue.

"It's Wolfmon's mark…It could be for Kouji-han's Beast Spirit!" Bokomon said.

"Uh…What are you doing?" Neemon asked Kouji as he took out his digivice and started pressing the buttons.

"His digivice can sense his spirit, he's checking for it." Bokomon explained, I glanced up at Kouji then back at the three statues (which have noses that take up like 90% of their faces), but there was no response.

Suddenly, there was a crash behind us and dust poofed up into the air.

"Is it Grottomon again?" Kouji raised an eyebrow.

"Do you think maybe it could be Takuya-han and the others?" Bokomon asked. Kouji looked thoughtful for second, then he immediately took off in the direction of the explosion.

"Ah wait! I'm coming too!" I called after him as I jogged to catch up.

"Stay here."

"But-"

"Yuki, you lost your spirit, so stay out of the fight." I felt hurt and wanted to argue, but decided that I didn't want to be a burden. So I sighed and leaned against the statue, sitting between Bokomon and Neemon as Kouji ran off.

About a couple minutes later, Gotsumon showed up with a glowing red gem. And without acknowledging us, he started to climb up the only statue that seemed to be missing an eye.

"What are you doing?" Bokomon shouted up at him, but Gotsumon just ignored her. And once again, there were the explosions and clouds of dust, except this time, they were moving closer and closer. Suddenly, Wolfmon leaped out of the dust cloud, but Gigasmon was right behind him. The earth warrior spun an attack that smashed Wolfmon into a statue. He hit the stone with such force that there was a life-sized imprint of Wolfmon left in the statue.

"Kouji!" I cried as his digicode appeared. But before I could do anything stupid, Gotsumon beat me to it when he jumped up and stopped Gigasmon's attack. Thankfully, Kouji's digicode dissipated and he unDigivolved.

"Take that gem and put it into the eye! Hurry!" Gotsumon threw the red gem, and Kouji caught it.

"It can unlock the Legendary Warrior's Spirit! Hur-" Gotsumon was cut off when Gigasmon started beating him with his fists,

"Get out of my way!"

"Hurry!" Gotsumon shouted, grimacing in pain. I felt so useless, if only I had my spirit…if only Gigasmon didn't take it away from me…

A look of determination flashed over Kouji's face. He grabbed a vine, hopped over to the statue's eye and placed the gem in the hole. As soon as the gem was in place, the ground started shaking and the three statues rumbled and turned. Kouji slid down the nose and landed beside us. (Wow, that's a weird thought, Kouji sliding down the nose of a giant face.)

"What is going on?!" I exclaimed as three beams of red light shot out from the eyes of the statues. The laser beams blasted Gigasmon out of the air, and he tumbled into the ground. I don't think it was intentional, but hey, that guy needed a good butt-whooping.

Suddenly, in the spot where the lasers gathered, a wolf-like object rose out of the ground and was glowing.

"Is that..?" Kouji trailed off.

"Kouji, your digivice is reacting!" I exclaimed.

"Kouji!" I glanced over and saw Takuya and the others.

"Why is there a spirit in this place?!" Gigasmon looked bewildered, but before he could attempt to take it, Kouji brought up his digivice and summoned his beast spirit.

"Beast Spirit Evolution!"

"Garummon!" And in Kouji's place was a white wolf covered in armor, with twin blades on his back.

"It's the Legendary Warrior of Light, Garummon!" Bokomon said, reading his book.

"Garu-whata-mon?" Neemon asked.

"Garummon!" Bokomon answered and snapped his waist band.

"Garummon…" I stared in awe. He looked majestic and powerful, just like a wolf should.

"Kouji got his beast spirit…"

"How did he do that…?"

I could hear Takuya and Junpei mumbling behind me. Garummon brought his head back and howled. Little wheels dropped down behind his feet (paws?) and he shot forward. Uh…are those supposed to be training wheels?

Apparently not because they weren't helping him much! Garumon zoomed around faster than the speed of light, but he was face-treeing (that's not even a word…) into all the trees.

"Ah, he can't control his beast spirit properly!" Bokomon exclaimed. *mental facepalm* Gee, thanks for pointing that out, captain obvious.

But despite all the sarcastic comments running through my head, I was seriously worried. What if Garummon doesn't recognize friend or foe and goes on a rampage? What if he never learns to fully control his spirit? What if it CAN'T be controlled? Oh god, I really REALLY hope he doesn't seriously hurt himself or get himself killed.

Garummon turned and growled at us, eyeing us as if we were his enemies. Please, there must be some way to get him back to his senses!

"Kouji! This isn't you. Don't you recognize us?!" I stepped toward him, he answered with a growl and charged. But I stood my ground, hoping, knowing that there was a part of him that could tame the beast. Before I could react, Garummon was already right in front of me with his claws extended, ready to strike. I squeezed my eyes shut, preparing for the worst, when suddenly, I was forcefully pulled to side and I landed on the ground with a grunt. I heard a crash that I think was Garummon missing and ramming into another tree.

"Are you stupid!? Don't be so reckless!" I opened my eyes to see Takuya glaring at me. I didn't quite recognize the look on his face, it seemed angry but there was something else there as well…

Before I could defend my actions, I heard Garummon roar.

We immediately sat up, our small dispute forgotten, and stared as Gigasmon and Garummon charged at each other. I heard snarls and battle cries as the two met and the power sent vibrations through the earth and engulfed everything in a blinding white light.

"Not good! Run!" Bokomon cried.

"But why!"

Bokomon, dragging Neemon by his waist band, frantically ran toward us as the entire cliff edge, and all the statues, crumbled and fell into the deep ocean waters below. And Gigasmon was carried down as well as he vowed to get his revenge.

"What happened to Kouji!?" Izumi gasped. We all rushed to the cliff edge. Thankfully, Garummon crawled up and unDigivolved into Kouji again. He was bruised and battered but at least he was still alive.

"I finally…got my…beast spirit…" Kouji mumbled, then his eyes rolled back and he lost his grip. But before he could fall, a hand shot out and grabbed his arm. It was Gotsumon!

"You've gotten the legendary spirit, you've finally done it! You're a hero now, so don't give up!"

"Yeah, alright." Kouji smiled, "Are ya gunno let me up?" Gotsumon chuckled and pull him up. As soon as he was far enough away from the cliff edge, I rushed forward and without thinking, tackled him in a hug.

"Yuki…*cough* can't…*hack* breathe!"

"Ack, sorry!" I leaped back as soon as I realized what I was doing. I could feel my face heat up, but I couldn't stop smiling. Kouji's face also kinda red, but I'm guessing it was because I was squeezing the life out of him.

"Hey Kouji! You're spirit looked awesome but went kinda crazy!" Takuya shouted, grinning. Tomoki, Izumi and Junpei were close behind him, and they were all smiling.

"Oh yeah? I can't wait to see YOUR beast spirit!" Kouji said sarcastically, but he too, was smiling. I laughed, despite what we lost today, we gain a lot too. Though we were all bruised and tired, everyone was still in one piece, and that was all that mattered right now.
