RECAP:
I could hear Vritramon growling…and a shiver went down my spine. He sounds like a beast…that can't be Takuya!
"Is that…Takuya?!" Izumi exclaimed, unable to believe it either.
Vritramon roared. Flames erupted from his armor. His cry was purely that of a beast.
"Takuya!" I shouted, hoping he would recognize the difference between friend and foe. My body froze when he turned his gaze onto me…and charged.
"Spirit Evolution! Garummon!"
I felt something grab me and I was pulled out of the way at an almost impossible speed. Then I was thrown up and landed on...the back of Garummon. Oh god…Kouji's gunno lecture me again…
"Idiot!" ….called it…
"What were you thinking?!"
"I-" I was cut off by another roar from Vritramon.
"Tch, anyways, I gotta get you to the others first." Garummon grunted as he dodged Vritramon's tail.
"No, I'm staying in the fight!" I snapped. I refuse to be anymore useless than I was already. Maybe, just maybe, there was a way to bring Takuya back to his senses without fighting him. But knowing the boys, they might get too caught up in the battle.
Garummon stared at me with an unreadable expression.
"You better not regret this." He sighed, then turned his focus back to Vritramon.
"Blitzmon!" I cried as Vritramon rammed him with his knees and Blitzmon crashed into a stone pillar. Garummon growled and charged at Vritramon from behind. I gripped onto his armor as best as I could, trying desperately to not fall off. But Vritramon seemed to have sensed the attack, and countered it before we could even reach him. We were thrown back, and Garummon landed on his side, almost crushing me to death, but thank god he didn't.
Suddenly, Vritramon turned around and smashed a pillar to pieces, threw his head back and roared. I winced, every time I hear that cry, it sends a shiver down my spine. Vritramon paused, glanced back at us and whipped around. Blitzmon flew up and Garummon leaped forward. I could feel Garummon's growl rumble through his body and I tightened my grip, warning him to not take the offensive side.
Garummon grunted, then turned to race off into the forest with Blitzmon following close behind. Suddenly, I heard tiny explosions behind us and the whole forest caught on fire.
"Put out the fire!" I shouted, then coughed when I inhaled the smoke.
"On it. Speed Star!" Garummon unfolded his bladed and picked up speed, slicing down a row of trees.
"You were supposed to put out the fire, not add in firewood!" I said between coughs. My eyes started watering from the smoke, but I didn't complain. After all, I was the one who insisted on staying. Grrrrr, if I could evolve into Mizumon, this fire would be out in seconds!
Somehow and luckily, the fire slowly died down as the cut down trees smothered the flames. The three of us scanned out surroundings and sighed in relief. At least that's taken care of now.
Suddenly, there was a loud rustling behind us and Vritramon burst out from behind the burnt trees. Before any of us could react, Garummon (and I) were smacked to the side and Blitzmon was kneed to the ground. As soon as Blitzmon was down, Vritramon stomped down on him.
"S-stop! It-it's me! Junpei!" Blitzmon cried between grunts of pain. Vritramon paused. His eyes went from red to blue.
"Wh…what am I doing…?"
"That voice…Takuya!" I gasped.
"Calm down…calm down…!" He chanted to himself as he released Blitzmon, who quickly rolled out of the way.
"Looks like he settled down." Blitzmon said.
"Yeah." Garummon agreed and I sighed, looks like it's finally over. Unfortunately, my moment of relief was short lived. Vritramon's eyes glowed red again. He snarled and charged once more, but Blitzmon and Garummon managed to jump out of the way. However, Vritramon just continued going in the same direction.
"Where is he going?" Blitzmon asked, confused.
"I dunno…wait!" The boys glanced at me.
"That's the direction where the others are!" I gasped and Garummon and Blitzmon immediately took off after Vritramon.
-LINE BREAK SAYS HELLO-
"Stop it!" Blitzmon reach Vritramon before us and tackled him, but Vritramon just simply grabbed Blitzmon's head and chucked him at us, hitting Garummon right in the head (ouch). Vritramon then grabbed Garummon by the tail and swung him up, throwing me off his back, and smashed him into the ground. I landed on my feet, but a jolt of pain shot up my left leg and I fell to my knees. Garummon scrambled to my side and Blitzmon hovered above me. I tried to wave them off but to no avail.
I was struggling to stand up when Vritramon turned to me and snarled. I gasped but was lifted into the air, out of the way. Wait, into the air?! Oh…it was Blitzmon. I opened my mouth, about to thank him when Tomoki's voice cut me off.
"Stop! Takuya-oniichan, stop it! This isn't you!" Tomoki smiled and opened his arms, as if welcoming a hug.
"Tomoki! What are you doing! Get out of there!" I yelled struggling to get down, but Blitzmon kept me up in the air.
"I see, you're scared! That's why you were rampaging like that, right?" Tomoki took a step forward, but Vritramon stepped back and roared.
"Don't be stupid! Get out of there!" Garummon snapped.
"Tomoki!" Blitzmon warned, still refusing to release me.
"It's ok. Don't be afraid, Takuya-oniichan." He took another step forward, but this time, Vritramon raged and crushed poor Tomoki with his claws.
"Tomoki! Wake up, you stupid goggle head!" I screamed.
"Takuya-oniichan, you told me, remember? You taught me what true courage was. It's not about getting revenge on bullies; it's about standing up to them! You can't fight in fear, you can't let fear control you!" Tomoki started crying.
I held my breath, dreading what was going to happen. But Vritramon paused and blinked,
"Tomoki…?" He slowly lowered Tomoki to the ground, his eyes now a pure blue. Suddenly, he goes berserk and smashed his head into a giant boulder, demolishing it. He threw his head back and roared, then unDigivolved back into Takuya. Blitzmon landed, finally releasing me. He and Garummon unDigivolved as well and we all slowly approached Takuya. I tried to hide my limp as best as I could.
"Stay away!" Takuya snapped, and I fumed. I grabbed his collar, turned him around, and slapped him.
"Wh-" Takuya stared at me in shock. I felt tears well up as I glared at him. After everything we did to bring him back to his senses, how DARE he…!
"Ack, Yuki!"
"Yuki, what are you-"
"Yuki-han!"
Everyone raced forward; probably afraid I would beat Takuya into a pulp. But I did something that even shocked myself…
I hugged him.
"You're back now…don't try to push us away!" I whimpered, tears streaming down my face. Takuya froze, then I felt him awkwardly pat me in the back. I let go of all the anxiety that had built up. We had almost lost Kouji before, and we had almost lost Takuya. If this happens one more time…I…heh, I wonder when I became so attached to this group? It's been such a long time since I've let down my walls…and allowed people in…
Someone put their hand on my shoulder, and I backed out of the hug. I glanced up at Kouji, who stared at Takuya. The boys gave each other a small nod. Guess they made up?
"Thanks…Tomoki." Takuya said.
"Don't mention it!" Tomoki grinned,
"You did help me back at the TV Forest."
"In other words, he repaid the favor with courage." Izumi smiled.
"Well said, Izumi-chan." Junpei said.
"Prego. You're welcome." Izumi gave a little bow, and I giggled.
"In any case, this means we've gotten hold of the second Beast Spirit." Bokomon said and Neemon nodded in agreement.
"So, three Human Spirits and two Beast Spirits…" Kouji concluded.
"Yeah, and Gigasmon took Yuki's spirit, Izumi's spirit, and then Tomoki's spirit. We have to get them back somehow." Takuya said.
"Alright then, let's g-Ah!" I stood up a bit too quickly and my ankle collapsed.
"Yuki?!" Everyone gasped.
"What happened?" Takuya stared at me, then looked thoughtful for a second.
"Don't tell me it was from…" He trailed off. I don't want to answer him but, well…I kinda sprained it when he threw me off Garummon's back…But maybe he'll think I'm just clumsy and twisted it while walking? Maybe? Yes? No? OK…
"Ah, I'm really sorry! Really really sorry-"
"Enough apologizing! Just help me up, ok?" I cut him off.
"…Kouji, help me for a sec." Kouji paused and gave a little frown, but nodded. Uh…why would Takuya need help from Kouji? I'm pretty sure I'm not that heav-EEP! A pair of hands picked me up and plopped me onto Takuya's back.
"Ah, I said help me up, not carry me!"
"Sorry Princess, this is my way of making it up to you!" Takuya smirked at me and I bonked him in the head.
-NOW SAY HELLO TO LINE BREAK-
"Woah, awesome!" Junpei gawked at all the tall trees.
"What is this forest?" Izumi asked in awe. Everyone seemed to be amazed by the gigantic tree, but I on the other hand, am still glaring at the back of Takuya's head.
"Takuya…I'm fine…so…LET ME DOWN!" I barked, though his only response was a chuckle…Grrrr, stupid Goggles head.
"Oh hey, what's with the roots?" We all leaned over a slope to see what Bokomon was pointing at. There were 5 paths of criss-crossing roots and at the bottom were 4 X's and an O.
"It looks like a maze."
"It seems fun!"
"Five possibilities, huh?"
"Let's do it!"
"Agreed!"
"Takuya, set me down so I can join, I BEG OF YOU!"
"Of course, princess." He smirks at me again but lets me down. FINALLY. SOLID. GROUND. MY. GOD.
"I'm taking this one." I said as I walked as faaaaaarrrrrr from Takuya as I could.
"Yuki, are you alright now?" Izumi came to the lane beside me.
"I'm fine, I'm fine. It was a small sprain." I waved her off good naturedly.
"Thanks for asking though…" I smiled at her and she grinned back.
Once everyone was in a lane, we started the game. Ok, let's go right…left…left…straight….left…right…left….straight…and…
"Oh poo…" I pouted as I landed on an X.
"Aw, I got it wrong?" Junpei sighed, staring at the giant X below his feet.
"Awwww…." Izumi looked disappointed while Kouji just "hmphed".
"We won!" Takuya and Tomoki cheered and the rest of us all glared at them. Suddenly, the ground rumbled and…is it just my imagination…or are we sinking?! Within seconds, all of us who lost were half submerged in mud.
"Help! Help!" Junpei started thrashing around in a panic.
"Junpei, calm down!" I exclaimed as his waving arms almost smacked me in the face.
"Don't move! You'll sink deeper if you move!" Takuya said as he grabbed a vine and threw it at us. We all grabbed on, but Takuya and Tomoki seemed to have a lot of trouble trying to pull all of us out at once. Suddenly, the ground beside us exploded in a little poof of dust and it was…Grottomon…*facepalm*
"Hahaha! Gotcha!" He cackled, laughing at our dilemma.
"You…Grottomon!" Takuya said.
"Let's see who won! So these two are the winners, and the rest are all losers." Grottomon sneered, pointing and Takuya and Tomoki then at us.
"And what happens to the losers?" Neemon asked. I'm not sure I really want to know the answer to that…
"You'll be nicely cooked afterwards-" Excuse me?! Cooked?!
"so, just wait quietly for now! First off, I'll take care of these two." Grottomon replied, pointing at Takuya and Tomoki.
"The winners lose too?!" Takuya exclaimed in disbelief.
"Shut up! You've been mocking me all this time! Give me your spirit!" Grottomon fumed.
"Don't make me laugh! Who would give it to you? By the way, I also got Vritramon's Beast Spirit!" Takuya snapped as Grottomon circled him and Tomoki.
'Wh-what? Beast Spirit? You mean you've managed to control that spirit?" Grottomon questioned, seemingly uncertain now.
"Well…" Takuya took a step back, guarding Tomoki.
"Seems like you can't control it yet." And with that, Grottomon pulled a giant hammer out of the ground (where did that come from?!) and aimed it at the boys. Thankfully, they got out of the way and Takuya urged Tomoki to climb up a tree and escape. He them pulled out his Digivice and turned back around to face Grottomon.
"Grottomon! Slide Evolution! Gigasmon!"
"Spirit Evolution! Agnimon!" He prepared to attacked.
"Burning-"
"Don't! You'll cause another fire!" Bokomon warned. Agnimon nodded and charged at Gigasmon, only to be bonked in the head and thrown to the side. Gigasmon then climb up the tree Tomoki was in and grabbed the poor boy. He laughed and raced off into the forest, taunting Agnimon to follow him. Agnimon glanced at us uncertainly.
"We'll manage somehow, go help Tomoki first!" Kouji said, Agnimon nodded and ran off in pursuit of Gigasmon.
"Alright…so how are we supposed to get out of here?" I asked Kouji, then everyone else turned to him.
"W-why are you all looking at me?!" Kouji stuttered, probably uncomfortable being the centre of attention.
"…You're the one who said we would manage somehow, I was assuming you had a plan to get us out of this mud pit?" I sighed.
-STILL STUCK IN THE MUD PIT-
"AAAAHHHHHHHH!" Agnimon screamed as he face planted in to ground.
Ouch.
"Ugh…" He groaned as he unDigivolved back into Takuya.
"Takuya!" We gasped.
"Are you alright?" Junpei asked.
"I have to hurry up and save Tomoki…" Takuya mumbled as he sat up, holding his poor face.
"But what should I do?!"
"You can't fight the beast form with the human form! Evolve into Vritramon!" Kouji shouted.
"But, I'm not confident that I can control the Spirit yet…" Takuya trailed off.
"Have you forgotten about what Tomoki said? You have the courage to do this!" I yelled.
"You'll be fine!" Kouji added.
Suddenly, a scream from the left made all of us turn.
"Tomoki!" Takuya cried when we saw the young boy tied up and dangling in the branches.
"Ahahaha! Come on, hurry and up and hand over your spirits! Don't you care about what happens to him?" Gigasmon cackled, gesturing to Tomoki. Takuya looked down, as if actually thinking about accepting this ridiculous bargain.
"Takuya-oniichan, it's ok! I'll be fine!" Tomoki called out. A look of determination flashed across Takuya's face.
"Tomoki! I won't let the courage you gave me go to waste!" Takuya pulled out his digivice again.
"Spirit Evolution! Vritramon!"
"What? The Beast Spirit!" Gigasmon gawked as Tomoki was pulled up and trapped in his hands again. Vritramon charged and knocked Gigasmon off his perch. He then threw a branch at Gigasmon's hand and Tomoki started falling. Oh please PLEASE catch him! Oh thank god…I sighed in relief once Tomoki was safe and Vritramon chased after Gigasmon. Heh, it would appear that he can control his Beast Spirit now.
Tomoki ran up to us and told us to grab on the vine. But then we started this huge debate on who would get out first because Tomoki obviously couldn't pull all of us out at once. Then we finally decided to let Bokomon and Neemon first, then us girls, then all of us can pull the two boys out.
-NOW WE ARE FREEEEEEE-
"Everyone, after Takuya!" Kouji commanded once we were all out.
"Ewww….we need to wash this off later." I grimaced at all the mud and Izumi agreed with me whole heartedly. But none the less, we all ran after Vritramon.
We arrived just as Gigasmon's digicode appeared.
"The 5 spirits!" Tomoki exclaimed, happy that he could get his spirit back now. Vritramon infolded his wings and took off.
"Gigasmon's Spirit! Mizumon's Spirit!" I smiled as I got my spirit back.
"Chakmon's Spirit!" Tomoki cheered as he got his back as well.
"Now, return Fairymon's Spirit too!" Vritramon charged at him.
"Ah hurry!" I warned, but it was too late. The digicode had disappeared and Grottomon immediately escaped by digging into the ground.
"Damn it…He got away! And Fairymon's Spirit is…"
