It has been many years since I've written

anything for this fanfiction. II have decided to write again and finish this work. (Something perhaps I can finish). However my writing style has changed dramatically.I will also be tweaking the story a bit from past chapters. II look forward to your support and hope that you will leave me reviews to help me bring this story back to glory.

Chapter 39 - A New Lead

Chanel was seated at a red couch to her left was an irritated Misa Amane and on the couch opposite to them was Ryuuzaki and Light Yagami. Chanel looked over at Misa who had a large scowl on her face, as she rested her head in her hand. Misa noticed Chanel's staring and looked over at her and stuck her tongue out. Chanel turned away annoyed.

She's more childish than I thought. She looked around for Roki hoping his voice would break the horrible silence that was torturing her. However he was no where in sight. Where is he when I need him.

"Man this has got to be the lamest date I've ever been on." Misa had said. "Oh no don't mind us. Pretend we're not even here. By the way are you going to eat that piece of cake?"

"No way. Cake makes you fat."

"Actually I found that you don't gain weight as long as you burn calories by using your brain." Ryuuzaki said pointing to his head.

It was then that Chanel started eyeing the cake. Oh how the creamy goodness called her.

"Hmph now you're calling me stupid?! Okay I'll give you the piece of cake Ryuuzaki as long you agree to leave Light and me alone. You and your girlfriend go on a date by yourselves."

Oh the cake... then Chanel heard it and blushed. "Huh? Girlfriend? No were not... I mean he's not..." Chanel just let it drop as they all ignored her.

'Look who's blushing." Roki said from behind her. "So tell me is he your lover?" Chanel blushed even further. "Oh he is. Have you and him done what lovers do?"

"Damnit! Shut up!" Chanel screamed. Everyone turned to look at her. Chanel's face was as beat red. "I mean can't we just all get along and eat cake." Ryuuzaki raised an eyebrow at her.

"You are weird," Misa said giving her a weird look.

"You're one to talk," Chanel said turning away. Ryuuzaki reached for the cake offering some to Chanel, and she took half.

"You know I dislike you more than when I first met you." Misa scowled.

"Funny thing Misa, I dislike you more too. I think you're annoying and over the top. The only thing good about you, that I can say I do like, is your fashion sense, but that's the only thing." Chanel smiled.

Misa glared at her. "You...!" Light cut her off.

"Misa behave yourself." Light said. Chanel smiled at him. Yup I definitely like this Light better.

"But Light!" Misa tried but was ignored.

Chanel began to stare at the chain keeping Light and Ryuuzaki connected, and began to think back to that night.

A few nights ago at the hotel

Light lifted up the handcuffs. "Are you sure this is necessary Ryuuzaki?"

"This is a difficult for me as it is for you." Ryuuzaki said. Chanel scowled at the handcuffs. She wasn't too happy at them either but she knew that Ryuuzaki thought it necessary. It was just another annoyance at being the only one who knew that Light and Misa were no longer Kira, at least for the time being.

Chanel took a seat as Roki floated behind her. "So does this mean no late night visits with your boyfriend huh?" Roki chuckled. Chanel blushed but tried to compose herself. "Roki shut it." She whispered. He only laughed more. She looked over at him. Something seemed off.

"Oh so this is what you meant by being together 24/7. I never would've thought you were on that side of the fence Ryuuzaki."

Ryuuzaki sighed. "I already said I'm not doing this because I want to."

"But if you're with him 24 hours a day, how are we supposed to go on dates! I don't want to share Light with you!"

"Well you can still go on dates but it'll have to be the three of us. Or four." Chanel glanced up when Ryuuzaki said this. "Yes four that sounds good. You can pretend it's a double date. We'll have Chanel here accompany us."

"What?!" Chanel and Misa said in unison. "No way."

"I want to have Light to myself. I don't want to go on a double date!" Misa said. Chanel stood up.

"Yeah I think it's a bad idea Ryuuzaki." Chanel said walking over to him.

"See even she is against it." Misa chided. Chanel frowned at her, then turned back to Ryuuzaki.

"I don't want to be in a room with her Ryuuzaki. She's giving me a headache. I can't believe I felt bad for you back then." Chanel sighed.

"Misa is not annoying!" Misa exclaimed. "And what are you talking about?"

"See what I mean Ryuuzaki it's a bad idea." Ryuuzaki looked Chanel in the eye. "It's a great idea." She knew that he meant 'you're coming and that's the end of it'. Chanel sighed and returned to her seat. Misa glared at Chanel as she went to go have a seat

"So that means that we have to kiss in front of you. Gross!"

"I never said you have to do anything but yes I suppose I will be watching."

"You really are a pervert."

"Light please make Misa stop talking."

"Stop it Misa. Look you're even lucky to be here right now. The police already know it was you who sent those tapes."

"Huh Light how could you say that to your own soulmate?"

"Soulmate? You're the one who said you fell in love with me."

"Then why would you kiss me if you didn't have feelings for me? You took advantage me?Stupid. Stupid. !" Misa cried.

"He certainly did." Chanel mumbled. "Jerk."

"About this love at first sight." Ryuuzaki said interrupting Misa's rant. "You said it happened in Aoyama on the 22nd right?"

"Yeah so what?" Misa sniffled.

"Do you remember what you wearing that day?"

"It's like I told you. I just happened to go there. I don't know why? I don't know how I felt and I don't even know what I was wearing. Anyway since when do I need a reason to hang out in Aoyama? Huh?"

Ryuuzaki ignored her last comment. "And somehow when you came back you knew you were in love with some guy and his name was Light."

"Yes!" Misa said firmly holding her ground placing both hands on her hips.

"And yet you yourself don't know how you came across his name."

"Yeah so what?" Misa said coming so close to his face it seemed that she was ready for an attack.

"Tell me. What if Light was Kira? How would you feel?" Ryuuzaki asked.

"Why not end all this?" Chanel looked up Roki. "Even if your boyfriend thought you were Kira and tried to imprison you. It's not like he could confine you anyway. Oh wait I forgot you love him." Chanel glared at Roki. He only sighed and disappeared.

"If Light was Kira?That'd be wonderful." She ran over and hugged Lights arm. "I have always been grateful to Kira, for killing the man who murdered my family. So if I found out Light was Kira I think I would love him even more, even though that's not possible for me to love him more than I do." Light looked freaked out as Misa rubbed her face on his arm.

"But this is Kira wouldn't you be afraid?"

"What? You're talking about Light being Kira he wouldn't be scary at all. I'm a supporter of Kira so if I found out Light was Kira I'd find ways I could be helpful to him."

"That's very generous of you but I don't think Kira needs your help," Ryuuzaki said looking very annoyed. Based on what you told me, there can be no mistaking it Misa is second Kira. You made it so painfully obvious I don't want to believe it."

"Whatever it's not believable because I'm not Kira." She stuck her tongue out at him.

"Anyway for the time being when you go out you'll be under surveillance. And if needed you'll be able to contact this rooms extension. For the most part you're life will go back to normal but for all private and work related affairs Mr. Matsuda will be accompanying you as your new manager Mr. Matsui. The agency has been paid to keep quiet and the police don't know. So don't blow the cover."

"What this old guy is going to be my manager?"

"Come on Misa I'm not old! Is it the tie?"

"Enough already! Stop it with all this dating and Misa Misa talk already. This is the Kira investigation! Get serious!" Aizawa shouted slamming his hands against the coffee table. Everyone looked at him shocked.

"Sorry Aizawa," Matsuda said quietly.

"It's okay I think I know the problem." Aizawa got up. "Lets go Misa time for you to go back to your room," he said grabbing her by the arm and shoving her into her room.

"Wait Light let's go on a date even if it is a double date or the three of us!" Misa shouted before getting the door shut in her face.

Chanel sighed in relief and mentally thanked Aizawa.

"So Light are you serious about her?" Ryuuzaki asked.

"No way. As i told you before it's completely one sided."

"Then can you pretend to be serious for the sake of the investigation? There are two things I know about Amane. She's involved in this and that she loves you." Ryuuzaki scoffed at the last part.

"You want me to get intimate with her to gather information about the second Kira?"

"Yes. Do it without arousing her suspicion. She will definitely be a valuable source of information for us. Not to mention it's one of the main reasons I agreed to release the two of you."

"Ryuuzaki as much as I want to help you and as much as this investigation means to me, I cannot manipulate a woman's feelings like that? Please understand to me exploiting another persons feelings for personal gain is unforgivable, and I won't allow myself to stoop that low."

Chanel leaned back resting her head in her hands. "So if this is the real Light, the one before he became in contact with the death note does that mean that the death note manipulated him?" Chanel thought. "I never actually was a witness to anyone using the death note, but it seems that it can manipulate a person's action. Then again they are alive themselves. So if a human can manipulate another human the death note, and all it's power can do the same." Chanel looked over at Ryuuzaki and can tell that he was slightly puzzled at this new Light.

"What's wrong Ryuuzaki?"

"Hm? Oh nothing. I suppose you're right after all. However considering Misa will have a lot of contact with the public. It will be helpful that you can make sure she doesn't leak information."

"By the way you think we can come up with something more convenient than jumping from hotel to hotel every few days."

"Oh yeah I was thinking the same thing a while back. And so..." Ryuuzaki will to his computer pulling Light with him. The teen almost tripping but following without resistance. "I have this facility built especially for that reason. The construction started shortly after my first meeting with and the rest of the task force. It should be finished in a few days." Ryuuzaki typed quickly in his computer pulling up documents, blueprints, and finally the picture of the building.

Chanel and the rest of the task force got up from their seats and walked over to him. Everyone stares in awe at the pictures of the new building. "He never told me about this." Chanel thought to herself.

Ryuuzaki continue to explain the details of the building. "23 floors above ground and two below. Although it is impossible to see it from the outside there are two helicopters hidden on the roof."

"Matsuda exclaimed.

"That's amazing." Light admitted.

"Ideally I want to spend as much time as possible in this facility. If the investigation team grows we can hold up to 60 people at one time. Misa shouldn't have any complaints as she will have her own floor."

"This is truly impressive. To go to such lengths..." Light said a hand placed on his chin as he continued to stare at the screen.

"Where did you get the finances to build this thing?" Matsuda asked.

"As you can see it is my intention to solve this case no matter what it takes." Ryuuzaki said not really answering the question smiled at Matsuda question already having a first hand experience as to how much money Ryuuzaki made on his cases.

"I'm sorry but how that an answer?" Aizawa said waving his hand.

"No Ryuuzaki is right. The mass killings are bad enough ready. However I could never forgive Kira for what he put me and my father through. I want to solve this no matter what it takes."

Ryuuzaki turned to him. "If you are serious should try to get close and find out about the second..." Light cut Ryuuzaki off.

"I already told you. That goes against my principles." Light said firmly.

"Right already said that. Such a shame." Ryuuzaki said pouting. Chanel fun it was kind of cute to see him pout again. She hadn't seen that in years.

Aizawa suddenly chuckled."I'm sorry. I'm just feeling really motivated right now." He said turning to Yagami. "Ryuuzaki, chief Yagami, Light lets get out of here and bring Kira to justice." All agreed in unison.

"Um excuse me you forgot to mention my name." Matsuda said pointing to himself.

Chanel quietly laughed to herself at the scene.

Later on the rest of the task force left. Light and Ryuuzaki went to their rooms and Chanel did the same. She suspected Misa have done the same as she did not try to get out of her room to see Light. The hotel suite was quiet and the only light on was the one in Chanel's room. She looked at himself in the man up and down. She began to remove her clothes until she was in her undergarments. She continued to stare at herself in the mirror. She tried to pulling out just her wings. She felt a sharp pain in her shoulder blades as though large knives were making their way out her back. She clasped her hand against her mouth as to not allow herself to scream. She could see the wings slowly emerging from her back. The skin was pulling itself is back as the wings emerged. Some blood dripped down her back but not much.

The pain was excruciating. Chanel tried to breathe calmly. Finally the wings were out. They were large and dragged behind her. The pain started to subside. She stared at her wings and admired them. She never thought that she would miss them but she did.

"Admiring yourself?" Came Roki's voice. She turned around suddenly.

"Yes I am. It had been so long since I have really seen them."

"I know," was all he said. Chanel continue to admire them. They were soft and she had remembered sharpening and stiffening the feathers but to no avail. She didn't have as much control of them as she once had.

"Do you think he'd like them... Your wings I mean." Chanel turned to Roki knowing he meant Ryuuzaki. "They are very beautiful wings but could he love them as much as you do? Would he admired them or would he not. And instead be taken aback by them. After all humans are very finicky creatures. Something they don't understand they hate." Chanel pulled her wings back with a suddenness. Feeling nervous that Ryuuzaki might come in and see them. "You love this human more than you love yourself. Remember the last time you loved someone more than yourself. He broke your heart and almost caused your death."

"Roki do you remember you can't kill me it's impossible." Chanel said trying to be confident.

"That's not how I remember it." Roki made himself comfortable on the bed. His limbs were stretched out almost hanging off the bed. Chanel stared at the ground thinking about Roki's comment.

Chanel looked at herself in the mirror once more and noticed that there were slight scars on her shoulder blades where her wings once stood.

"Do you want to bear his child?" Chanel blushed and turned around to face him.

"where did that come from?" She challenged; trying to ignore the question.

"Do you?"

"I don't know. How would I know something like that? I've never even thought about... That..."

"It's illegal to have a child from a human. It's punishable by death and not of the mother but of the child you know."

"Why are we even discussing this?" Her eyes became steely.

"You love him. You want a life with him, don't you? A life with him is almost impossible. He will die and you will continue to live. Although you may marry him, you cannot bear any of his children and you know why that is."

Chanel paused. "I could always make the deal."

Roki sat up. "You do that for him? That human."

"Not for him, for me. I don't belong there anymore Roki. No one there wants me. In that Realm the world is so small. But here here in the human world it's so large. There's no way you could meet everyone in this world. That's what I love about it. There is a chance for someone here to show me kindness and not judge me for who I am but what I can be."

"The funny thing is they don't know who you are." And with that Roki left the room.

Chanel looked down. Then started putting her pajamas on. They were a t-shirt and soft blue pajama pants. She then decided to get a glass of water from the mini fridge. So she left her room. When she opened the door she noticed across the hall Ryuuzaki's door was open slightly. From there she saw the light of his computer screen. So she decided to go check on him. She slipped inside his room quietly and there he was sitting on the bed with Light fast asleep next to him.

"Yes Chanel?" Ryuuzaki said not looking up from his computer screen.

king up on you. I figure it's not easy to be handcuffed to someone. Just seeing how you're handling it." She sat next to him on the bed.

"As long as you are the one who asserts dominance in anyway the other person will follow regardless." He continued to stare at his laptop flicking through things. Chanel became curious and leaned over to see what he was doing. Ryuuzaki quickly pressed the escape button.

Chanel frowned. "What are you doing you don't want me to see?"

"It's none of your business." Ryuuzaki said not looking at her and pulling up a different screen. She stared at him hard.

"Let me see."

"No." He challenged her with his eyes.

She challenged him right back. "Let me see."

"Why is Chanel so persistent?"

"Why are you?"

Ryuuzaki then grabbed her hair gently and touched it. Chanel blushed.

"What are you doing?"

"Does Chanel remember when she got gum stuck in her hair and she had to cut it very short. So short that it fell to your shoulders."

She continued to blush. "Yeah that was a long time ago. What of it?" Ryuuzaki pulled up a screen. It was a picture of her looking slightly shocked with her hair cut short as he previously described.

"Where did you get that picture?"

"One of the children took it remember. I had the camera confiscated but only to get that picture."

"Wow I was fifteen there. Why did you want the picture?"

"Because Chanel looked cute there and I had a crush on you back then..."

Chanel blushed more. It became noticeable in the dim lighting. "Why are you blushing so fiercely?" Ryuuzaki said cocking his head to the side.

"Well... I... No reason."

"Chanel is feeling shy tonight. I don't understand why we have already kissed twice."

"I'm not shy."

"Then prove it." Ryuuzaki challenged coming within two inches of her face. Chanel blushed and looked down.

"Ryuuzaki I... I have a question." Ryuuzaki pouted and but didn't move from his place in front of her.

"Yes?"

"When this case is over and I start living with you again and we become officially lovers... Would you..." Chanel sighed. "Would you be upset if we never had a baby?"

"Hm? Why do you ask that. Do you not want children?" He moved back slightly observing her.

She looked up. "No that's not... Not what I meant. I mean what if I could never have a baby. Would you be mad?"

"What are you hiding from me," Ryuuzaki's eyes became serious. "Some medical problem you found out recently."

"No! I..." Chanel sighed. "It's hypothetical."

"Why this question?"

"I don't know... Just forget it. It's dumb." Chanel turned away and was about to get up when Ryuuzaki's voice stopped her.

"It doesn't matter." She turned back to him. "It doesn't matter if Chanel can't have children or doesn't want to. It doesn't matter to me either way, at least for now."

"Why not?"

"Well... It's going to sound cheesy if I say this."

"Ryuuzaki just say it."

"No it's too corny."

"Zaki say it!"

"Fine... It doesn't matter because I have Chanel and right now that's all I need. I told you corny. It sound like those weird romance novels."

Chanel blushed. "no it's not corny." She leaned up and kissed his cheek. Ryuuzaki looked surprised but then leaned over and gently kissed her lips.

"Well I have the girl now only if I could catch Kira."

"Zaki. Don't feel bad about not getting Kira. You'll get him soon. Trust me."

"If you say so."

She tried to smile but couldn't help feeling guilty. "Goodnight." She kissed his cheek. "Try to get some sleep."

"Okay night."

Chanel was suddenly removed from her thoughts as she first heard then saw Light punch L so hard that he went flying across the room. Both her and Misa jumped up from their seats. Misa screamed but then became distracted as she stepped on some cake.

"What the hell is going on?!" She turned to Misa. "Misa what's going on? Why did Light hit Ryuuzaki?" Misa was so nervous it was like she didn't even hear Chanel. Chanel seeing no hope in getting any information from her turned back to the fight.

"You know that really hurt." Ryuuzaki said sitting up.

"That's enough. You don't feel like doing anything because you genious deduction was wrong and I'm not Kira."

"Fine." Ryuuzaki said wiping some spit and slight blood from his mouth. "Perhaps I phrased it wrong. It would be pointless to make a move so we shouldn't even bother."

"If we don't make a move Kira will never be caught! Is that what you want. If you were just going to give up then why did you put Musa and I through all that and why involve all those innocent people?" Light grabbed L by the collar.

"I understand but..." Ryuuzaki swung around and kicked Light right in the jaw. "An eye for an eye my friend." Then both young men went flying again. Chanel sighed.

"Enough already!" She shouted. Misa stared from the side lines.

"It's not that my deduction that was wrong. I can say without a doubt that Light Yagami is Kira and Misa Amane is the second Kira, but it's not enough to solve the case. So I'm a little depressed is that so wrong?"

"Yes it is,"Light said standing up. "Besides listen to yourself. It sound like you won't be satisfied unless I'm Kira."

"Not satisfied unless you're Kira?" Ryuuzaki also stood up. "There maybe some truth to that. Actually I think I wanted you to be Kira.

Light punched Ryuuzaki in the face again. Ryuuzaki shook slightly. "As I said before an eye for an eye. I'm a lot stronger than I look." Ryuuzaki came around again and kicked Light in the face once more.

So this is what this is all about? Chanel thought? My God.

Ryuuzaki and Light grabbed each other once more to exchange blows when the phone rang. Ryuuzaki answered.

"Yes?"

"Ryuuzaki I have great news! Misa Misa is at the top if Eighteen's reader popularity roll!"

"Oh I see"

"And get this she's going to get the lead in Nishinaka's next movie!"

Ryuuzaki then hung up.

"What's going on?"

"Matsuda is acting stupid again."

"Yeah well that is his specialty."

Chanel looked around the destroyed room. Then noticed the destroyed the cake.

Damn it just one casualty. And it was the poor cake... This is cake murder.

Two months had gone by and there were no leads. Chanel was typing away at her computer just as everyone else was tirelessly searching. She glanced up at Ryuuzaki who was staring at nothing in particular. She sighed she had never seen Ryuuzaki like this before and she definitely didn't like it. She hoped something would snap him out of it and it seemed that her wish was immediately granted when Light spoke up.

"Hey Ryuuzaki I know you're not up for it but come take a look at this." Ryuuzaki wheeled his chair over. "This can't be coincidence. All these were prominent japanese business men. CEOs whose companies are leaders in their respective industries. All 10 died in one month from heart attacks. As expected there's been a general downturn in the market. With the exception of Yotsuba. In other words their deaths have worked in Yotsuba's favor. Looking back there have been 13 similar deaths in the past three months. Your thoughts? Based on this I can only conclude that Kira is supporting Yotsuba."

Ryuuzaki put a finger to his lip and looked thoroughly intrigued. "Hm. Could be. But if you're correct then we can assume killing criminals is not this Kira's real intent."

"Yes killing criminals is a diversion for him it obscures the fact that he's actually killing people for the benefit if his company. Are you feeling a bit more motivated now." Light smiled.

Ryuuzaki quickly returned to his computer, and began pulling up information. Chanel hadn't seen Ryuuzaki that enthusiastic in a very long time. She enjoyed watching him. Then went back to her own work. About a half an hour later Yagami and Mogi entered the room.

"Hey chief you're never going to believe this but Light figured out that Kira is involved with Yotsuba." Matsuda said excited then noticed Yagami's face and became worried.

"Yotsuba?" He said surprised, then Yagami slowly placed a hand on Matsuda's shoulder. "Good work."

"That's probably it Matsuda." Matsuda nodded. "Just now, I heard from the Deputy Chief that Kira has been sending bribes out to politicians. If the police continue to aid L in the investigation against Kira, he will start killing politicians. The police gave into Kira." This made both Ryuuzaki and Light turnaround. Chanel stood up in shock.

"Mogi and I have already made our decision. Matsuda, Aizawa if you still want to pursue Kira you will have to turn in your resignations as Mogi and I have. Unless we decide to resign from the police we won't be able to investigate Kira seriously."

"What do you mean chief?" Aizawa exclaimed

"It's very simple they said if I continue to investigate Kira I will be fired."

"Chief..."

"In a few hours I will no longer be your chief," Yagami smiled. "But you all have your own lives, do think carefully before you decide what to do."

Chanel could see the look of horror and confusion written all over Aizawa's face. She knew he had children and that this decision would be especially hard for him to make. She glanced over at L to see his reaction to all this.

"Yeah especially those with wives and children..." Matsuda said.

"I think you should return to the police force." L said his back to the task force. "I began this investigation alone. And even when most of the police for turned away you four stayed and I am very grateful to all of you. However I can handle this on my own and when I catch Kira I'll visit you at the police station and deliver 'Kira's head' to you."

Chanel silently observed then sat down. Ryuuzaki is testing them. Even now... I suppose he does have a solid reason to do so however the strain it will do to Aizawa particularly...

"Ryuuzaki you won't be a long I made a promise to you that I will help you catch Kira!" Light said

"That's right I won't be alone I'll have Light. Besides he's not completely cleared of being Kira. However the rest of you return to the police."

"Didn't up say you need the cooperation of the police for this case?" Yagami said.

"That was because then the police was an organization independent of Kira and was prepared to stand up and fight against him in this investigation. However if you all quit you will become civilians and therefore can't be called "the co-operation of the police. The police have decided to obey Kira. You've done enough."

"Well it's true that if we leave the police we may not be of much help to you, but what of our feelings? We have put our lives on the line for this case. We should have the rightg to decide for ourselves if we want to stay or return to the police."

"Yes I suppose you're right... please make your own decision."

Chanel still noticed Aizawa's worried look. "But chief if we quit the police we'll lose our jobs. Even if we manage to catch Kira what are we supposed to do after that?"

"After we catch Kira. I haven't thought about that. I guess after all this... we'll just have to dust off our resumes." Yagami smiled.

"Yeah!" Matsuda cheered. "I've decided I'm going to quit the police and chase after Kira! Besides I have the job of Misa Misa's new manager. If I stood with the police I'd feel like a total loser..."

"Matsuda watch what you say!" Yagami scolded him.

Aizawa turned to Ryuuzaki, "Is there anyway that I can stay on the police and help you in my spare time? I won't leak any information."

"No it's either one or the other."

Chanel couldn't stand to see this anymore. Even if she knew Ryuuzaki was testing Aizawa she could bare to see the man struggle. "Ryuuzaki you must have a backup plan you always do." Ryuuzaki glanced at Chanel from his peripheral. "Aizawa has a family, I know you have plan for a situation like this."

As soon as Ryuuzaki opened his mouth Watari interviened. "L," came watari's voice.

"Yes Watari?"

"If I remember you told me to keep a trust fund to support the family of any member who might lose their job during or because of the investigation for a lifetime."

"Chanel, Watari this is neither the time nor the place." Chanel looked down knowing that Aizawa immediately caught on.

"I apologize. I just couldn't stay quiet through all this."

"Ryuuzaki you were testing me weren't you? To see if I was serious about the investigation."

"No Aizawa. Ryuuzaki just isn't the type to mention this sort of thing himself." Yagami tried.

"No... I was testing you. I wanted to see which you would choose."

Aizawa looked furious as he stared at the back of Ryuuzaki's head.

Of all times for you to tell the truth, you choose now... Chanel thought.

"Well if I wasn't sure then I am now! I quit the investigation. I'm going back to the police!"

"Aizawa please calm down." Yagami tried.

"No I wasn't able to make a decision as quickly as you all. I just came to a realization anyway. I hate Ryuuzaki and his way of doing things!"

"That a shame because I really like you Aizawa." Ryuuzaki said not turning around.

Aizawa paused for a moment, "And I always hate how you have to have the last word!" With that Aizawa stormed out.

"Thanks for all your help."

Chanel sighed, she was actually liked Aizawa afro and all. Soon after the task force settled down and started working again. Chanel as she worked went into some deep thought. If I could find this new Kira it would be simple to scare him off. If he works with or for Yotsuba then he obviously is very greedy and wants to use Kira's power to benefit himself. It's obviously a CEO who is Kira. So now all I have to do is search for the CEO's however it's not so simple... Rem is behind this and would make sure that I wouldn't hear the death note. What's strange is I can't seem to even feel the note. Not at all? It might've transferred owners quickly. If it did then of course they wouldn't scream or cry.

"Ryuuzaki I found another one." Light said pulling Chanel from her thoughts. "A branch manager from one of Yotsuba's biggest rival banks. Seventh of September -slipped on the stairs at home and died."

"Seventh of September, that makes it a Friday." Yagami-san spoke up. "Taking a look at this again, it just occurred to me that all the deaths which benefit Yotsuba happen towards the end of the week."

"Really?" Matsuda said.

"At first the times of death were random, however they gradually began to cluster around the time from Friday evening till Saturday afternoon."

"That's an excellent observation chief." Matsuda praised.

"I keep telling I'm not your chief anymore."

"No to me you'll always be chief."

"That's an excellent lead Dad."

"Well I'm not planning to lose to you and Ryuuzaki just yet. I don't want to be dead weight around here."

"Dead weight,"Matsuda mumbled.

"Is Kira part of Yotsuba or is he merely using Yotsuba. I've got no idea which, but i can assume that Kira is behind this. It's time we investigate Yotsuba thoroughly." Ryuuuzaki said.

Then Mogi walked over to Ryuuzaki with a huge stack of papers. "I just finished compiling a list of all of Yotsuba's employees, both here and overseas." He placed the large stack next to Ryuuzaki.

"Thank you Mogi," Ryuuzaki said moving the stack closer.

"Over 300,000 people. How did he manage to do that so fast?" Light said impressed. "That's amazing Mogi!"

"There was always something amazing about Mogi right from the start," Ryuuzaki added.

Chanel turned around after getting a strange feeling that someone was behind her and lo and behold two blond people, a man and a woman was sitting behind her. This has Ryuuzaki written all over it. She thought as she turned around to face Ryuuzaki and the task force. She saw Ryuuzaki's face reflected in one of the dim monitors and raised her eyebrow at him knowing he would see. Noticing that he slightly smirked.

Matsuda stood up. "Ryuuzaki is there anything else I can do? B-besides the manager thing!"

"You want to make yourself useful?" Ryuuzaki glanced up at him and Chanel could feel an insult coming.

"Yes!"

"Then can you get me another cup of coffee?" Matsuda looked shocked. "And don't forget our guests aswell."

The man and woman seated behind Chanel waved then stood up. The task force stood shocked.

"Who are they? When did they get here?"

"They're our new members." Ryuuzaki stated.

"The names Aiber. Im a con artist. Nice to meet ya." Said the man getting up with the woman.

"I'm Wedy, a thief by trade."

"A con artist and a thief?" Yagami said thoroughly shocked.

"That's correct. Aiber acquires and learns who is necessary for every social discourse, and is guaranteed to form an intimate connection with his target. We'll be using him." Ryuuzaki said filling everyone in. "Wedy is a thief and can crack any safe, key, or security system. As proof she was able to infiltrate this place without anyone noticing her."

"We'll be investigating with criminals?!"

This is new, in a way at least. I'm impressed. Chanel thought.

"They're criminals but not the type that appear in media, Kira won't be able to kill them. Think of them as professionals for the underworld."

"I get it in order to investigate Yotsuba properly, we'll need such people. Let's all work hard together on this." Light said.

"Yeah..."

"Okay..."

After several hours Chanel insisted on going to her room, once there she began to shuffle around her room. She had said she was going to bed because all night she had an uneasy feeling. One that twisted her gut.

Maybe I'm just feeling uneasy because of my eagerness to find out who this new Kira is. She thought. No but it's something else. I haven't felt like this in a long time... But I...

And suddenly as though on command she felt a powerful energy come from behind her. When she turned around she was faced with the transparent image of her sister Oriana. Chanel blanched at the sight of her.

"Hello Sorrow. It's been so long. I can see you've been enjoying your time here. This is not a punishment at all is it?" The tall pale woman walked forward towards Chanel. Her purple eyes were steely if they could cut they would've already pierced Chanel's flesh. "You see Sorrow if I had it my way then you would be going through endless deaths for all eternity."

Chanel at first nervous became still and smirked at her. "But sister I already received that punishment when I was innocent and had not committed any crimes against the bureau or the Sphere. Or have you forgotten sister?"

Oriana challenged her with her eyes. "But my punishment would be much worse than what you went through in Submergence. I would make sure you suffered for all the deaths you caused including my husbands!" Oriana began to clench her teeth bearing them slightly.

"Oh that's why you hate me because I killed that pig! That disgusting monster!" Chanel said her markings showing slightly and then faded as she tried to calm herself.

"You're the monster!" Oriana went to claw at her neck but her hand went right through.

"Ah ah ah sister," Chanel said wagging her finger. "You're forgetting you're not part of this world yet. You need a warrant to even step in here and yet another to even touch me."

"You wretch! All I need is to come in this world. Then I can beat you endlessly." Chanel looked unglazed by her comment.

"You know he causes this. All of it. He caused Ragnarok. He caused it and so did you when you wouldn't listen. Till this day you still refuse to listen to why I killed him."

"I don't have listen! He was my husband. You are my sister. You were not to kill him! You were not to touch him!"

"Why does the title husband beat the title sister? Why was he more important than me? Why is he still?" Chanel said her markings returning. "Why?!"

Oriana stared at her. "Simple I loved him more than I could ever love you. I will return with the warrant sister and then your real punishment will begin." With that Oriana faded.

Chanel grabbed herself and fell to her knees crying. "But sister why won't you listen. He... He..." Chanel cried harder. She cried as though she were a child. Suddenly the mirror in her room shattered. The potted plant burst and the plant itself withered away. Chanel suddenly calmed herself down. She took a deep breath and looked at her surroundings seeing the damage she composed herself.

"If Oriana gets the warrant then I have to know which abilities I can use and which I can not."

Chanel began to focus preparing herself for what was to come. The fight against this new Kira and the fight against her sister
