...
I, eh, hi. So, this is awkward. When was the last time I updated something on here? More than a hundred years ago! I am so sorry for this. Like, really. It's just that I have been so busy on Tumblr and AO3 that I could not find time on here. I am such a stupid bastard. I'm sorry. But here it is! Finally! And it is actually quite long:)
Lightning strikes through the dark sky of Ered Luin. The thunder is very loud in the mountains and the rain is pouring out of the sky.
Kili is hiding under the covers on his bed. The now seven-year old is afraid. He is so scared. His father is sleeping in the room next door and doesn't seem to mind the weather at all.
The little boy lets out a yelp when a loud bang is heard and the lightning lightens his room for a few seconds. The rain starts to get heavier and slams against the window, the wind getting stronger and stronger by the second.
He slowly removes the blanket from his head when the noises get less. His long, brown hair is all tangled up ad his big brown eyes are filled with fear.
Another big bang does it for Kili. He gets himself out of bed with some struggle and runs as fast as his little legs can to Thorin's room.
Thorin is sleeping quite peacefully, despite the loud thunder and lightning outside. He is used to it by now, it doesn't really bother him that much nowadays.
Kili silently pushes the wooden door open. His father is facing the window and away from him.
Kili rushes to the bed when he hears another loud noise, coming from outside. He pulls on the covers and after multiple tries, Thorin's body finally begins the move.
Thorin swifts his body around and opens up his eyes, slightly annoyed by the fact he's ripped out of his peaceful sleep. But that feeling is soon away when he's met by a pair of big brown and frightful eyes.
He sits up straight and looks at Kili: "Kili, what's the matter?" Kili visibly jumps at the sound of thunder and doesn't have to say anything. Thorin moves his body down and stretches out his arms to his son: "Come here, little one." Thorin doesn't have to repeat himself. Kili immediately moves himself into Thorin's arms. Thorin places them just under his armpits and lifts him into the bed.
"Are you scared, Kili?" Thorin asks as he places Kili between his legs. Kili looks up at him, with big eyes. He nods: "Y-yes, d-da." Thorin sighs and wraps his arms around him. He hugs him closer and Kili yelps at the loud bang. He pushes himself against Thorin's body and closes his eyes. Thorin wraps his arms tighter around his son and places a kiss in his long hair.
"Shall we sleep, little one?" Thorin mumbles in Kili's hair and feels him nodding. Thorin smiles relieved at him and lets Kili find a comfortable position on his chest. Thorin lies down again and Kili presses himself firmer against Thorin's much taller and warmer body. Kili curls up in his warm arms and lets Thorin wrap his arms around him.
One kiss on the forehead later and Kili is asleep. Thorin sighs in relief and hugs his son closer to him before falling asleep as well.
The next morning, Thorin wakes up without Kili next to him. He jumps out of bed and rushes into the hallway.
He sighs in relief when he finds Kili sitting there on the ground, playing with his stuffed bunny.
"Good morning, Kili. I see you've awoken already." Thorin says and bends down to give Kili a kiss on his head. Kili pushes himself up and allows Thorin to give it to him.
"I'm hungry, da." Kili says in a whiny voice. Thorin grins and says: "Well then, good thing I'm awake." Kili puts on a bright smile and jumps up. He climbs on Thorin's back, dropping the bunny to the ground.
Thorin is slightly surprised but wraps his arms around Kili's legs. Kili giggles, leaving the stuffed animal on the ground.
Once they are downstairs, Kili is fast with getting into the kitchen. Thorin shakes his head and follows his son.
Just when they sit down, someone knocks on the door. Thorin sighs annoyed and gets up. He looks at Kili, who is rather impatient to start his breakfast: "I'll be right back, little one."
Thorin walks over to the door and opens up. He's met by three pair of eyes.
There are Fili and his friends Ivan and Ito. Ivan and Ito were first just friends with Fili but the blonde prince was quick with introducing them to his little and young cousin and now they are friends with Kili as well.
Thorin looks at them and says: "Good morning, boys. Hello, dear nephew." "Good morning, uncle! Can Kee come outside?" the now twelve year old asks, him being the only one who dares to speak up to Thorin. Even though Thorin is the father of Kili, the two boys are still intimidated by him.
"What, now? But Fili, we both have just woken up. I want him to eat something before jumping outside." Thorin says, glaring into the kitchen.
Fili bites his lip and asks: "I see, but can you hurry up? Having Kili around is much more fun. And I think he will love those poodles from the rain from last night." Thorin rolls his eyes and says: "We will not take too long, nephew. If I tell Kili you want to play I'm sure he'll be quick." Fili, and the other boys, smile.
"Great, uncle. We'll just wait here." Fili says, turning around with Ivan and Ito. Thorin sighs and says: "Do whatever floats your boat, Fili." Fili thumbs up at him and starts talking with the other two boys, now at the age where they don't start running around like Kili and his other friends do.
Thorin raises an eyebrow and goes back inside again, softly closing the door. He walks back to the kitchen and sits down. Kili looks up and asks: "Who was that, da?" Kili asks as soon as Thorin sits down. Thorin looks at him and says: "Those were Fili and your friends. They want you to come outside."
Kili's eyes widen and he starts stuffing food inside his mouth, not wanting to get to those boys too late. They are five years older than him and all he wants is to impress them. His other friends are just as old as him, there it isn't needed. But with children almost twice his age, he finds it necessary to not come across as a little child. Even though he is still one.
"Calm down, little one. I do not want you to choke on your food." Thorin says, quickly attempting to stop Kili stuffing so much bread into his small mouth.
The little boy carefully swallows the food and looks at Thorin: "Can I go outside now?" Thorin smiles and nods: "Go, Fili is never so patient." Kili brightly smiles and Thorin helps him from his chair.
He walks with Kili to the door and opens it for him. Fili and the other two boys immediately turn around and their faces light up when they see Kili.
"Hey, good morning, Kili." Fili smiles and waves at Kili, as do the two other boys, while smiling at him.
Kili smiles brightly and lets go of Thorin's hand: "Hello!" Thorin ruffles his hair and says to Kili: "Be careful, alright? Have fun, little one." "Thank you, da!" Kili exclaims. Thorin gives him a kiss on his forehead and Kili runs out the door.
Thorin looks at the boys and says: "Be gentle with Kili. He is not twelve yet, remember that. Do not let anything happen to him. Am I clear?" The three boys nod immediately. Fili takes Kili's hand and says: "Come on, Kee." Kili squeezes firmly in Fili's hand and walks away with him and the two other boys.
Thorin watches as they leave and goes back inside to clean up the mess.
"Hey, Kili, don't you ever find your father, I don't know, scary?" Ito asks as he kicks away peddles. Kili looks at him with wide eyes and exclaims, like only a little child can: "Father is not scary! I love da because he takes really good care of me and because he's always really nice to me." "Yeah, uncle is the best." Fili joins Kili and throws his arm around the smaller boy. The two other boys just roll their eyes.
Ivan opens his mouth to say something when all of a sudden a scream sounds through the air.
The four boys turn around in quick motion and Kili's eyes widen in fear. He shuffles closer to Fili and the older boy immediately throws his arm around him again in a protective way. Ito and Ivan also get closer to the youngest in their company.
There come more screams and loud noises. Dwarfs around them start running away and one says to them, before quickly running further: "Boys, go home. Orcs are attacking Ered Luin!"
Kili's under lip starts trembling and he grabs on tighter around Fili. He looks at him with frightened eyes: "F-Fili, I'm scared. I want t-to go to d-da." Fili pulls him closer and says: "Do not worry, Kee. I'll protect you." "Come on, guys! We have to get out of here!" Ivan exclaims and pulls the other boys along with him.
Kili stays behind Fili and is about to cry. He never experienced an orc attack and is more than afraid. He wants to go to Thorin, he wants to go home, right now.
Orcs appear on the rooftops, with speers in their hands. Speers and swords. Kili keeps his head under Fili's arm, not daring to look up.
They are running through the chaos, trying to get to Thorin's home for Kili's sake. They see how scared he is and have sworn to protect their youngest among them. And now they really have to do so. And Fili knows Kili hasn't ever seen an orc in real life. Another reason to keep Kili safe with them.
Kili's head snaps up when he hears Fili yell. "Look out!" the blonde boy yells as an orc jumps in front of them. Kili lets out a yelp and the tears are rolling down his cheeks.
"Look who it is! Thorin Oakenshield's son! He looks like him and so young! Unbelievable, he makes it so easy!" the big orc slurs and makes his way over to Kili, slamming Fili and the other two boys against the wall.
Kili backs away while still crying. He puts his little hands in front of his face and cries out: "P-please, l-leave m-m-me a-alone! Da!" The orc grins evilly: "Oh, you will get your da. After I've got his head clean off!" Kili lets out a scream and falls on his bum.
The orc wants to grab him when Fili starts growling. The blond boy jumps on top of the orc and screams: "You stay away from him! Leave Kili alone! Don't you dare touch him with your filthy claws!" The orc roars and throws Fili on the ground. More orcs appear and start throwing around with him and the other boys.
In the chaos, the big orc grabs the crying Kili and runs back to his warg with the little boy. Right after him, the other orcs leave the three boys and run after their master, laughing and snickering.
Despite his pain, Fili pushes himself up. He runs forward and desperately looks around him. Blood is dripping down his forehead but right now he doesn't care.
"KILI!" he screams, but he receives no answer. "KILI! Please! Kili, answer me!" Fili yells, trying not to cry. Kili is gone, he realises that. He failed protecting his own cousin.
"Kili…" Fili whispers before falling to the ground, the other two boys rushing to his side.
Thorin growls as he slays orc after orc. They are coming out of every corner, each uglier than the last.
He needs to find Kili, he needs to keep him safe. But there are too many orcs to go there in one way. He has cuts all over his body but he doesn't even care about that. He needs to get to his little boy, he needs to have him close and protect him. Kili is probably crying, he must be so scared. And that makes Thorin want to go to him faster than anything.
He hears a voice and all but hopes it is Kili. And Fili and the two other boys as well of course. He wants Fili to be unharmed, he wants the two other boys to be safe.
But it is the voice of a woman. Thorin turns around, killing the last troublemaker.
It is Dis. She runs to Thorin, panic all over her face. Thorin immediately rushes to her side and she slams her hands on his shoulders.
"Fili… Where is my son?! He went outside shortly before the attack, he went to get Kili… Kili! Thorin, the boys are in danger! We need to get them, we need to-" "Dis! I know, I'm just as scared as you. But we must not panic, for the sake of our boys. I want Kili home just as bad as you want Fili, but we need to remain calm." Thorin stops Dis's rambling and pushes her away from the danger.
"Ma!" all of a sudden sounds. Dis rips away from Thorin and runs towards all the noises. "FILI!" she screams and the boy appears, with two others behind him.
She opens her arms and Fili jumps right into them. The other two boys, who are comfortable around Dis, go to her as well.
"Are you boy alright?!" You have scratches! Fili, you are bleeding. You are bleeding, darling!" Dis can't stop talking and wraps her arms as tightly as possible around the boys.
Thorin looks at the group and can't find nor see Kili anywhere. His heart starts beating faster as he walks around them, hoping so badly to spot the blue tunic that Kili was wearing when he left the house.
"Fili… Where is Kili? Where is my son?" Thorin asks in a low voice, keeping his eyes fixed on the group. Dis turns around to him, now realising her nephew is gone and panic is building all over again. Ito and Ivan are about to cry and do not dare to look Thorin directly into the eyes.
Fili pulls away from his mother and looks at Thorin: "Uncle… Those orcs… t-they've taken Kili…"
Thorin goes silent and slowly steps back. His face has stopped moving and his eyes couldn't be wider than this. His hands are frozen and his shoulders are dropping. His strong figure has lessened and he is not functioning anymore.
After being quiet for far too long, Dis carefully stands up. She walks up to Thorin, looking at him with concern all in her eyes. She places her hand on his shoulder and carefully asks: "Brother?"
More isn't needed for Thorin to go completely mental. He rips away from his sister and comes back to life again. He starts throwing his arms into the air and yelling things all over the place. He is cursing like no tomorrow and his eyes are filled with fire. Just as his heart. His body has gone from frozen to being completely on fire.
"Those bastards! Foolish idiots! This is way too many steps too far! How dare they put their filthy claws on my little boy?! Have they lost every little possible sense they had in that miserable, ugly body?! They are dead! Dead, I tell you! I will get them back for touching Kili!" Thorin yells before grabbing his sword.
He wants to run to his pony, but Dis stops him. Thorin turns around and says: "Dis, not now. I need to get Kili away from those monsters. Before they can hurt him." "Hurt him?!" the three boys exclaim and Fili starts to get red in his face.
"Nobody, I tell you, nobody hurts Kili without having to deal with me! I'm coming with you, uncle!" Fili exclaims and wants to get to Thorin. "No, absolutely not. I cannot risk you getting hurt too. It is already bad enough that they have my son. Not my nephew too. I am going, Dis." Thorin says and looks at Dis. Dis looks back and says: "But, Thorin! You don't know where Kili is!" Thorin rips away and runs off. He doesn't turn around but yells back: "Don't care, Dis! I will find him and I will not return without Kili!"
Kili is shaking. He's sitting in the back of a cage, one foot chained to the wall. His crying has not stopped and he is fearing for all but his life.
He's never been this scared in his life. His father is always there to protect him, even in the darkest times. But Thorin was not there when the orcs got him into their enormous cave. He wasn't there when they had thrown him into the cage, chaining him to the wall. They did not care about him at all.
He is in pain. Physically and mentally. His head hurts from all the yelling and loud noises. Everything inside his body hurts after being harshly thrown onto the cold stones. He has several bruises all over his little body. His hands has got scratches from the hard stones and are both bleeding.
He wants to go home, to Thorin. He wants to be in his da's big and war arms, hearing his warm voice. He wants to play with Fili. With Ito and Ivan. With all his other friends. He just wants to be away from this creepy place, away from the scary monsters. But, he knows Fili, Ito and Ivan are no longer harmed and that thought kept the little boy from losing that little bit of happiness he still has got left.
"Hey boy!" A scary voice suddenly rips him out of his thoughts to home and he looks at the big door. An orc appears and he hitches his breath in fear.
"I think it's time to do something about that pretty face of yours. I'm sure Thorin will appreciate it." Kili's eyes widen in fear when the orc opens the cage and walks up to him. Kili backs away against the wall and begins to whimper.
The orc bends down and frees Kili. Before Kili has a chance to move, he grabs him and says: "Hush, little child, things will soon be over." Kili doesn't believe him and only starts crying louder, getting the orc to get annoyed and cover Kili's mouth.
As Thorin is racing to his pony, he bumps into Dwalin. The taller of the two has a couple of cuts on his arms from the fight and is looking at Thorin in confused, not understanding why he is in such a hurry.
"Thorin, are you alright? Mahal, those orcs were the worst ones yet!" Thorin goes pale and says: "They've kidnapped Kili, Dwalin. I need to get him back!" Dwalin's eyes widen and he exclaims: "I'm coming with you! Those orcs need to know nobody messes with the little laddie!" Before Thorin can say anything, Dwalin already drags him further to the ponies.
Not so long after that, Dwalin and Thorin are racing towards the forest as everybody knows that's where the orcs came from and are probably hiding away, waiting for another attack.
"Come on, boy! This is nothing!" the biggest orc exclaims. They have Kili tied together while hitting him a couple of times with a wooden stick. Kili cries out of pain and lets the tears roll down his face. It hurts. It hurts a lot. Kili has never experienced this much pain and all but home his father comes quick.
"Go on! Oakenshield needs to know what happens when he doesn't let us have his head!"
"Hurry up, Dwalin! Who knows what they are doing to my poor kid right now!" Thorin exclaims, in very much panic. The ponies are not going quick enough for him and he is looking around, hoping to find a cave or to even hear Kili's voice, even though it will be full of panic.
Dwalin just nods at him, knowing words won't solve a thing. He knows Thorin better than anyone else, beside Dis of course, and he realises how much Kili means to him. He is his son, his only son. Dwalin hasn't ever seen Thorin so gentle and protective and will do anything to get the young prince back.
He looks around him, hoping to find something that could lead them to Kili. A footstep, something Kili was carrying with him, a smell, a broken branch, maybe a cave?
Thorin looks up at the sky and suddenly hears something crying and begging for help and to someone to stop. It is desperate, full of panic and pain. It is a young voice, a very young voice.
"Kili! Dwalin, that's Kili's voice!" Thorin yells loudly and fastens his pony. Dwalin does so as well and yells just as loud: "Come on, Thorin! Let's save that boy of yours!" Thorin races away and whispers: "I'm coming, little one. Da is almost there.."
Kili lets out another whimper as the orcs are laughing at him. He wants to go away, out of the dark cave. Back into the light again. His arm hurts a lot and the cuts on his hands have become even worse.
An orc grabs his arm and Kili starts crying all over again. The orc grins and wants to pull him back to the cage. But he stops when a loud noise comes from above them and a very loud voice.
"LEAVE MY SON ALONE! NOW!" Thorin jumps down from a rock, Dwalin behind him. He holds out his sword to the orc and hisses as he walks closer: "You get your filthy hands off Kili now. Or I'll cut your head clean off." The orc grins: "What are saying, Oakenshield?" He grabs on tighter around Kili's arm and the little boy screams out of pain.
"LET GO OF KILI!" Thorin screams and runs forward. "You are dead!" Dwalin yells and runs after Thorin, holding out his axes in front of him.
The orcs dive forward as well, the orc with Kili backing away instead. He wants to run away with him, but Dwalin is faster. He stops the orc and doesn't let him get away.
Thorin screams and growls as he kills the orcs that are stopping him from getting to Kili. Dwalin turns his body and lets out several warrior yells as he throws an axe right through the orcs's chests.
Thorin joins Dwalin and yells: "You will give me my son, you monster!" He pokes his sword at the ugly orc and Dwalin does the same with his axe. Thorin sees Kili reaches out for him, which only gives him a boost of power.
The orc growls and pulls Kili closer: "Not before I have your head on a stick!" Both Dwalin and Thorin roar and fly forward. The orc pushes Kili roughly to the ground right before the two dwarfs cut off his head and throw an axe through his stomach.
Thorin pulls the sword out of the orc and turns around to Kili in quick motion. The little boy is laying on the ground, shock and tears filling up his brown eyes. He sees Thorin and chokes out: "DA!" Thorin drops his sword and runs forward. Dwalin is already by Kili's side and helps the little dwarfling up.
Kili sees Thorin running to him and falling on his knees, opening his arms. Kili immediately leaves Dwalin, after receiving a gentle and lovable pat on his shoulder, and runs to his father.
With tears rolling down his cheeks, Kili jumps into Thorin's arms. Thorin wraps them tightly around him and presses him close to his chest. Kili starts sobbing in Thorin's neck and Thorin places his hand on the back of his son's head.
"It's alright, little one. It's alright. Da is here, you're safe. The big orcs are gone, you're really safe now. Calm down, my little one." Thorin whispers as he comforts Kili by gently stroking his brown hair.
"T-they w-were r-really m-m-mean, da! T-they h-hurt me!" Kili sobs and buries his head further away.
Thorin feels his blood boil and looks up at Dwalin. The taller dwarf has been watching the two reunite and seems to be just as relieved as Thorin yet just as angry as well.
Thorin turns his attention back to Kili and says: "I'm here now, they cannot hurt you anymore. As long as I'm around they won't touch you again. I'll take care of you. Where are you hurt?" Kili pulls away and shows Thorin his hands. Thorin gives it a few gentle kisses before picking him up.
"Come on, Dwalin. Let's get out of this foul place and go home. Dis is worrying sick about Kili. And Fili is about to destroy something if Kili isn't back anytime soon." Dwalin nods and goes back to the ponies, constantly looking around to make sure there are no orcs.
Kili is hiding his head in Thorin's neck and lets him carry him back to the pony. Thorin keeps making sure Kili is alright and keeps his head on the back of Kili's head.
Once they get to the ponies, Thorin places Kili in the saddle and looks at Dwalin.
"When they dare to put their filthy hands on Kili again, I will not be as mild." Thorin hisses to Dwalin. Dwalin nods: "Count me in. Those filthy bastards will not ever come close to the little prince again."
Thorin and Dwalin climb on the ponies as well now. Thorin keeps Kili in his arms and they rush away in fast motion.
This is seriously not good. Not good at all. I am just happy I finally updated again. It took me too fucking (sorry) long. So long! I'm the worst ever!
