The next morning, when Alibaba woke, Morgiana was gone, and so was the little pouch he'd kept his money in. He wasn't angry so much as disappointed and surprised that she would just leave with his money like that. He hadn't thought her to be a thief.

Alibaba was still sitting and thinking about the Fanalis when he felt a slight nudge and felt a person sit down next to him. His eyes widened when he saw that it was Morgiana. Looking down, she pushed an icing sugar coated pastry wrapped in tissue paper into his hands. She then lifted a fold of her skirt and placed his coin pouch next to him. "I got you breakfast."

"You came back," he said.

She looked at him weirdly. "I had your money. Of course I came back."

He blinked slowly, a large smile spreading over his face. "Oh! Here. Have some!" He broke the puff apart and gave a small yell when cream dripped over his hands. He grinned and passed a half to Morgiana anyway. "I think you have a little something…" Alibaba reached up and wiped a dollop of cream on her nose.

Morgiana squeaked and her eyes crossed to look at her nose. She brought her hands up to wipe it off, forgetting she was holding the other half on the pastry and smeared more cream on her cheek. Alibaba laughed and used his thumb to wipe off the cream and then licked it off his thumb. "Yum," he said, smiling.

Alibaba looked up, into her eyes, and realized that they were so close their noses were practically touching. Morgiana flushed, and he felt a blush rise to his own cheeks. They both pulled away.

"Thanks." He coughed slightly. "For the breakfast, I mean."

Morgiana shook her head and her lips twitched into a small smile. "Thanks for sharing."

They had started to wander, exploring the town they'd dropped into. Apart from the market, which was much larger than expected, there was a small street full of tiny cafes and dessert stores. Morgiana pointed out the one she'd bought the pastry in that morning.

A certain street contained nothing but bookstores and another were cluttered with flower shops, florists smiling and waving as they walked past. They stopped at an outdoor restaurant to have a late lunch and Alibaba found out that Morgiana was a beautiful dancer when a creaky old radio belted out some fast-beat music. When they were leaving, Morgiana's ragged hemmed dress caught on the edge of a chair and tore, leaving it shorter than ever. She'd swore and glared at the torn fabric as if that would fix it.

Alibaba had then dragged her off to the nearest clothing store and insisted on buying anything she needed. Morgiana had settled on loose pants and a loose fitting tank top, thanking Alibaba profusely.

When they'd finished roaming about the small town, the sun had already started to set, basking the town in a mellow orange. Alibaba pierced the skin of a large apple with his teeth and cringed slightly as sour juice trickled into his mouth. Morgiana, sitting beside him, stared at him, her eyes showing mild interest. "What?" Alibaba asked, not impolitely.

Morgiana blushed a little and turned away. "Nothing. You know, I think I will miss you after all." Seeing Alibaba's surprised face, she turned even redder. "J-just a little bit! I mean, you're not the worst person I could have around."

"What do you mean you'll miss me?" Alibaba twisted to the side and dug a shallow hole, and then buried his apple core into it.

Morgiana cocked her head to the side, her brows furrowed. "I mean that I'll still be leaving. I have to get farther away than…" she waved her hand around, vaguely gesturing to the whole town. "This."

"Yes, but what do you mean you'll miss me? I'm coming with you."

"When did you decide on that?" Morgiana asked, her voice rising, confusion and a little bit of annoyance tinted her words.

Alibaba shrugged and lifted his arms above his head, stretching. "I dunno. Last night?" He grinned and yawned loudly.

"You can't just decide these things on your own," the previous spike in her voice had died down, and she had returned to her usual just-stating-the-facts sort of voice. "I'll be travelling to the Roi Empire, in the west."

"That's not hard. There's a trade route that leads there."

"Yes, a trade route. It is one used commonly by Master Bon and the workers. They do not go to the west to trade, but the route is convenient. I will go through the Bandit Canyons," Morgiana nodded, half to remind herself that that was her plan, and half in satisfaction. After all, a palace boy wouldn't follow her through the infamous canyons, full of merciless bandits that would strip you of everything you had, and the leave your carcass to rot in the dusty valleys. No. A spoilt, little, rich kid wouldn't know the first thing about the dangers of anything outside his palace. He was definitely nice and he wasn't the worst to have around (after her time with Master Bon, it had certainly felt good to laugh with him).

Alibaba shrugged. "Okay? So when do we leave."

Morgiana sucked in a large breath. "You still want to come."

The prince nodded slowly. "I don't really have anywhere else to go." After a moment he smiled cheekily, adding, "And, anyways, who's going to save me when I'm in trouble."

"Don't you know what lies in the Bandit Canyons? People three – no, four! – times stronger than the men who attacked you yesterday. And they won't just rob you! They'll kill you too."

"I know what the Bandit Canyons are!" He cut Morgiana off as she started to argue again. "That's why I – what is mean is, I've been wanting to ask you if you'd train me a little. Kind of like you did yesterday."

Morgiana wrinkled her nose and opened her mouth to say that she didn't have time for this, but then she looked into Alibaba's eyes. They were hopeful and eager, slightly like a puppy's. She sighed, wondering if she'd gone soft after a day or two with this boy, but nodded. "Fine. But we're leaving in a week at most."

Alibaba nodded and whooped loudly, then, laughing, he let himself fall backwards in to the tall grass and sleep.

Author's Note: I know. I'm horrible. I'm sorry~ Anyways, I hope you liked the chapter and I'll try to update a lot sooner than this time!
