Scene 11: Earth
The Avengers are seated at a round table in the airship. None of them look very amused, except for Tony who is too busy on his tablet to really care. No one says anything for the longest time - the files they were given had nothing more than a time and a place. But if Fury calls, they had to answer, but that didn't mean they had to do what he asked. The only person who understood the severity of the situation was Thor, who remained standing in the corner, unable to look at the others in fear of them realizing why they were here. Agent Hill entered the room holding a small briefcase.
"Well, now that we're all here; why don't you tell us what the HELL is going ON?" Tony broke the silence. Agent Hill rolled her eyes and put the case on the table.
"The director will give you a full briefing when he arrives."
"So we just sit here?" Clint interjected.
"You can stand up if you want, sit, pace, there is no guidebook." Agent Hill smirked, but before he could reciprocate, Natasha glared at him, keeping him quiet.
No one says anything for a moment, but the tension from the room would not go away. Agent hill simply sighed, before saying "There may have been a security breach."
"What do you mean a security breach?" Steve spoke up finally.
"That is for the director to tell." She hissed through clenched teeth.
"Are you kidding me? Can you believe this?" Banner said to Tony, who reciprocated -
"Yeah um what sort of breach if that's what it is could possibly require that the team back together? I mean what the hell can possibly happen that you had to call us in?"
"Wait Thor you were the first one here right?" Tony changed tactics, "Would you happen to know something?" But the demi-god would not look up the floor. In sudden realization, everyone turned to him. "Thor?" He looked up to his friends with guilt traced through all his features.
"It is bad."
"Well how bad is it?"
"We are not sure. But we fear for the worst; because-"
"What is it?"
"Loki has escaped from his prison cell. Despite our best efforts we cannot locate him, and we suspect that earth is under great direct."
"Wait, WHAT?" Clint erupted.
"Oh suspect, charming." Tony snapped back.
"This is serious."
"Oh you're telling us?"
"How the hell could he have escaped? You told us it was impossible!" Steve rose from his seat.
"He didn't do it alone. Just before they left Asgard I confronted them, only to flee through one of Loki's secret passageways. There was one other with him, a maiden whom appeared to be highly skilled in magic and combat."
"So it took ONE PERSON to break Loki out of an INPENETRIBLE FORTRESS!?"
"I never said-"
"Yes you did. TWICE."
"That's enough." Hill declared. "We get that this is a bed situation but yelling at each other isn't going to make it better!"
Silence fell again, but this time with a bit more resolution. Thor walked towards the table and sat in one of the five empty seats. "Perhaps… I should take the time to explain." He told them the story exactly as he told Director Fury; everyone listened without asking questions, even though anyone could see they wanted to. When he had finished, the only thing that could be heard was the creaking of the table as Clint came close to cracking it in his hands.
"So," Tony started, "there are two things we know for sure: one - Loki has broken out of prison, and two - it was because of some random hot chick."
"And we have no idea where he is and no way of finding him." Natasha stated.
"Don't forget number four - Fury is mega pissed off." Unknowing, of course, that Fury had walked into the room and was standing right behind him.
"Well then Mr. Stark, while we are collaborating the obvious we might as well get to number five."
One moment after he spoke, Coulson came through the door.
