CHAPTER 16
A/N:The song in this chapter is "Wild Horses" by The Sundays
Childhood living is easy to do / The things that you wanted, I bought them for you / Graceless lady, you know who I am / You know I can't let you slide through my hands / Wild horses couldn't drag me away / Wild horses couldn't drag me away...
Dean felt oddly comfortable with Paige in his arms. He'd never slow danced before. It was all new territory. He'd done things slow before, usually they were horizontal things, but dancing wasn't one of them.
Paige knew he was a womaniser, she did. Yet she couldn't tear herself away from him. She knew who he was. She knew that he'd sleep with her and leave but she couldn't bring herself to care. She wasn't sure if what she felt for Dean was just physical attraction but she was willing to find out.
Dean suddenly found himself not wanting to let go. It was an odd sensation. He could smell the vanilla from her shampoo. Her soft red curls tickled the side of his face. His arms meshed perfectly with the curves of her body. He was dreading the end of the song.
I watched you suffer a dull, aching pain / And now you've decided to show me the same / No sweeping exits or offstage lines / Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind / Wild horses couldn't drag me away / Wild, wild horses couldn't drag me away...
Leigh's head rested comfortably against Sam's chest. She was so relieved that he agreed to dance with her and not leave her standing there like an idiot. Dancing with Sam was definitely better than dancing with Mason. She shuffled her feet to move closer to the brown-eyed hunter with his arms around her. She felt his arms tighten around her waist as they swayed in time with the music.
Sam looked down at Leigh and caught her gaze. Her brown eyes glowed under the dim lights of the club. They reflected so much warmth, but also had a sense of loneliness and pain. She always looked so empty. He noticed it the first time he saw her that night in the street. People always said 'the eyes are the windows to the soul' and Sam never really took any notice of the saying, until he met Leigh that was.
He hated the mixture of warmth and anguish he saw in those big brown eyes. He hated that such a caring person never had someone she could truly rely on. He wanted her to rely on him; to trust him. He wasn't going to leave her alone, demon or not.
Faith has been broken and tears must be cried / Lets do some living after we die / Wild horses couldn't drag me away / Wild, wild horses couldn't drag me away / Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them someday / Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them someday.
The song came to an end eventually. The music slowed and the last word was sung. The instruments faded out and people stopped swaying. Two couples however, were still standing. Sam's arms were still firmly around Leigh's waist and Dean's hands were on Paige's hips.
Leigh took in one more deep breath of Sam's musky scent before gathering the willpower to step out of his embrace. She felt his grip loosen as he realised the music had stopped and she took a step back, letting his fingertips brush against her hips as she moved. The touch left his fingers with a tingling sensation.
"Thanks for the dance." She said with a shy smile, not sure what his reaction would be.
"I'm just glad I didn't break your toes." He said with a nervous laugh and then added, a little hesitantly, "I didn't did I?"
"No of course not." She said laughing as well then said sincerely "it was nice."
The song ended and Dean found himself holding on. His hands were placed on Paige's hips and as soon as the last chord of the song was played his hold on her firmed. He looked up and saw Sammy standing with his arms around Leigh and felt a little proud of his baby bro. If he wasn't holding onto a hot girl himself he would've interrupted the situation, but Dean had a situation himself; the one that left his pants a little tight.
Paige wrapped her arms around Dean's neck and reached her lips to his ear and whispered "let's go back to your motel."
