Author's Notes: Last time, Ginei and Daisuke had a bit of a falling out. Daisuke can't trust Ginei and Ginei can't understand Daisuke's motives. Toru also revealed his true intentions of being at the Academy… But is it as true as he claims it to be? Ahhhh, here's the next chapter! I know I haven't explored a lot of characters and really mainly focused on Daisuke. This chapter will be a little different. Hope you guys enjoy it! Reviews and other words are appreciated!

Much love,

Ginei sat at this desk in the empty meeting room. He held his face up with an elbow as he thought long and hard about what had just happened. He couldn't understand why Daisuke wouldn't just agree with him and go along to plan. Daisuke's persona had changed way too fast. But that's what the life of a monster would do to you.

And Daisuke isn't even a monster…

Ginei tapped his fountain pen on the desk as he tried to rationalize Daisuke's behavior. On top of that, Ginei tried to think through his own actions. He then began to question his own motives. Was hiding what he and Mizore had done really the best course of action? There was really no other choice… was there? Ginei sighed, letting loose of the pen as rolled off the face of the desk and onto the floor with a clatter that echoed throughout the classroom.

"Another long day at the Club?" A voice asked behind him.

Ginei sighed, recognizing the voice. "You wouldn't believe the crap I have to deal with in here Uncle…"

The Headmaster chuckled as he slowly paced his way to the desk in front of Ginei's. Even though much of the Headmaster's eyes were covered by his hooded cloak, Ginei could feel his piercing gaze.

"It's Shirai, isn't it?" The Headmaster asked.

Ginei nodded. "The kid doesn't listen to what I have to say. He's being way too impetuous… He's not thinking right…"

The Headmaster chuckled as made his way to the window adjacent to the desk and looked out the window, the sunlight warming the room. "Kind of reminds me of someone… doesn't it?"

Ginei lifted his head and looked up at his uncle. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "Who?"

Folding his arms, the Headmaster shook his head. "Have you forgotten already?" He said with a smirk. He then pointed at Ginei with a long finger.

"You."

"Oh come on Uncle…" Ginei groaned. "Taking photos of chicks is my passion and I-"

"No, no. Not that." The Headmaster said. "You know what I mean."

Ginei fell silent, his face turning grim. "I thought you made it clear that you and I won't discuss about that topic on the school grounds…"

"Regardless of what I said then…" the Headmaster said, glancing back at Ginei whom he had also noticed had turned serious. "Isn't it ironic? You and Daisuke… You and Your f-"

"I've changed Uncle…" Ginei said, voice low. "For the better… I am not the reckless kid I use to be…"

"You say that all the time…" the Headmaster said with a slight grin. "But every time I see you, I am still reminded of that one arrogant boy who thought he could do it all…"

"That was ten years ago…" Ginei muttered. "After what happened to… HIM…"

The Headmaster sighed heavily. "All those years ago… You still don't forgive yourself… Do you?"

"It was all my fault…" Ginei said through gritted teeth. "I should have been the one to die that night…"

TEN YEARS AGO…

He ran as fast as he could through the woods that night. Holding the vital documents and information in his hands, he ran as fast as his legs could take him. Glancing behind every three seconds or so, he made sure he wasn't being tailed by any of his pursuers. He saw and heard that he wasn't. Still, he ran as his life depended on it… Which it did actually.

This was a top-secret mission that was way above his ranking. It was something most of superiors couldn't handle. He actually wasn't even allowed to take the mission. When he had volunteered to do so at the headquarters, he was scolded by his peers but especially his father.

"Do you have any idea what you are going to get yourself into?" His father told him earlier. "Stay out of it Gin. No matter how skilled you are and you think you are, this mission is too much for you to handle. You will not take part in this mission at all. If it were to fail, this war will be lost as well."

Well, that was all he heard him say. He remembered that his father also said something about arrogance and bravery and also said that they were hardly the same thing but he didn't listen too much after that. His mind was set on fulfilling taking on the mission and he did.

The recon team that was originally tasked with it was scheduled to strike the following night. But he knew better than that. Word has slipped around the barracks that the enemy would be doing some experiment and the bulk of their fighting/defending force would be situated on that location, away from the vital intel. He made it his decision to go out that night and seek out for the requested items.

And that, he did flawlessly. The information that had floated around the headquarters was correct and the enemy was poorly equipped to defend their posts. While sneaking around their base, he had also overheard something about hollows or something. He had no idea what hollows were or meant but he made a mental note to mention that to his superiors later on. Soon, the valuable intel was in his hands and he was fleeing back to his peers. He then would finally receive the recognition he deserved.

Being the youngest in the group… No, in the ENTIRE fighting force made it very hard for him to be respected, especially by the Advanced Recon team members who were only a few years older than he was. Despite what his peers thought, he was in fact a prodigy. From a young age, his father had taught him how to fight, how to survive. And he had taken a grand liking into the thrill of doing so. From early on, he gained a notorious reputation for getting into fights with his peers and was often punished for doing so…

But ever since the war began, the once unsociable detriment he possessed became a valuable asset. The people that once despised him came to respect him a little more. He was no longer a little kid. He was accepted into the ranks of his superiors. But others, perhaps out of jealousy, weren't so accepting. They often bullied him, making fun his of short stature, his fighting stance, and the list goes on. He would have liked to grind their faces into a pulp but his father always caught him before he did anything all the time.

This time, he'd show them. This time he would prove to Raida, Matsui, and Lin that he wasn't so little anymore. He'd prove to the older kids that he wasn't just some pushover. He'd prove to his officers that he could do anything despite being a child. And finally, he could prove to his father that no matter what his father said, he could overcome anything. Finally, he'd be able to. And that was now. And he-

And he was hit square in the face with an incredibly hard and blunt object.

He didn't remember hitting the ground.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

When he came to, he couldn't see anything. Everything was pitch black and he thought he had gone blind from the blow to his head until he felt the cloth covering his face. His ears were ringing and he couldn't hear anything but the ringing. His arms and shoulders felt as if they had been battered with 3 ton iron bars, he knew how that felt, and for an hour. His arms and legs were tied down with some rather incredibly tight rope, it was so tight, his hands and feet felt numb. He tried to move his leg slightly but realized that there must have been some sort of weight holding the down and his arms were in no condition to be moving around. Whatever happened, he'd have to be calm and calculative if he wanted to get out of these bonds. He honed his ears to listen despite the ringing still in his ears.

"… He's a kid…"

"… what if he is a kid? When I was one…"

Garbled nonsense after that.

He felt footsteps approaching him, noticing the thuds on the floor gradually drawing closer to him. Sensing the presence around him, he knew two people were directly in front of him. There should have been others. Except they weren't nearby. Perhaps close, but not close enough.

"… He have to deal with this… Screw it…"

"… You can't kill a kid!.."

Great, they are going to kill me.

He then heard the click of a gun that was just being fed a fresh clip. It should have been small handgun. Probably fired 9mm rounds. If he managed to move, he could probably dodge the first bullet. The second bullet would probably hit him. He could withstand that pain through his tolerance. But the third, fourth, fifth… He wasn't going to last forever…

Then he noticed, his hearing was back.

"Kurai, what the hell are you thinking?" A voice said. "Please tell me you aren't going to shoot the kid."

"Shut up Xan Rei." The other, Kurai, said. "There isn't any other choice. Interrogation didn't work. And now he is just another mouth we may have to feed!"

"That doesn't justify the killing of this kid!"

"HE STOLE OUR INTEL XAN REI!" Kurai exclaimed. "If that by itself doesn't convince you, I don't know why you are on this squad."

He then felt the front end of the barrel of the gun rest on his forehead. It was ice cold to the touch. The guy, Kurai, probably hadn't fired the weapon in a while. Maybe he wasn't skilled with firearms. Perhaps, but even if he wasn't, no one, not even him, was going to survive a point blank gunshot to the head. Everywhere else, he might. But this, to the head. This was it. This was how he was going to die.

He was a fool. That was the first time in a long time that he felt a tinge of regret for what he had done. He was always confident in himself and that by itself was always enough for him to get by and accomplish what he needed to. People would often confuse what he could do to him boasting. It had given him a slightly nasty reputation. He ignored what others told him about him going over his head. Matsui had warned him. He warned him not to get himself into things that were bigger than himself. But he didn't listen. Lin tried to persuade him. She tried to persuade him not to fling himself into harm's way. But he didn't listen. And Raida… the boy who was like a very brother to him, grabbed him before he left the barracks and tried everything in his power to stop him. But he didn't listen.

And now, he wished he had.

Hearing the finger of the shooter rest on the trigger, he knew his fate was sealed. With this mission failed, the entire war was lost. Everyone he knew, everyone he loved was going to have the same fate as him. Death. Tears began to well in his eyes. He let out a small whimper. Soon, the shooter had pulled the trigger. And the shot rang loud.

Except it didn't hit him.

"What the hell is your problem Xan Rei?!" Kurai said. "Why did you make me miss my shot?"

"I made you miss it because of this!" Xan Rei said, pulling him up by his feet, dragging him to where Kurai should have been. "Look, right here! At the base of his neck!"

"Wha… what the hell is that?" Kurai said, confused. "What are those fang symbols?"

"You don't know what these are?!" Xan Rei said, his voice exasperated.

"No idea Xan." He said.

"That is the Mark of the Beast." Xan Rei whispered to the other.

He had no idea what these two were talking about.

"… What the hell is that?"

"That…" An unfamiliar voice said, getting closer to where he was. "Is a seal that belonged to a legendary member of the Tohoshinki. It was only mentioned in legends but here we are, in the flesh, witnessing this."

"F-Fujisaki-san!" The two men exclaimed. "We thought you were-"

"I heard the news from Eres, she told me you two found a spy and were out back here." The man called Fujisaki said. "So here I am and then I hear you two mentioning the Mark of the Beast."

"Y-yes!" Xan Rei said. "The seal is marked on the back of this boy's neck. Right there."

Once again, he felt himself being lifted up. He could feel their eyes embed into his neck as they observed him. Then, he was dropped back down and felt the blindfold around his face being cut. Once the cloth fell off, he saw three men standing in front of him. Judging by where they stood, the man called Kurai was standing the furthest away from him. He had black hair and tanned skin. A portion of his face was bandaged from what seemed like burn wounds. Next to him was Xan Rei, he speculated. He had light gold hair and pale white skin. He had a running scar on his forehead which was covered by a portion of his hair. And the man that stood closest to him was Fujisaki. Despite a war going on, he wore a rather expensive suit and a trench coat. He had jet black hair and a piercing gaze with his sharp eyes. He was also smoking a cigarette, the same brand as his father.

He scared the hell out of him.

"What is your name?" The man asked him, his face had a small smirk but lacked any human warmth.

"G-Ginei…" He answered, his voice barely audible.

"Ginei…" Fujisaki said, smoking. "Why, that name sounds so… familiar…"

"How so sir?" Xan Rei asked.

"I remember a man I once knew… A man I respected… and hated… He had a son… and I think his name was…"

Fujisaki looked at the boy, Ginei.

"Ginei… Ginei Morioka, am I wrong?"

He didn't respond.

"Regardless, I should have known that you carried the bloodline lineage… So I was right…"

Fujisaki then called over Kurai. He whispered something into his ear, which shocked Kurai. Then his face turned bitter. Scowling, Kurai threw a file onto the ground next to Fujisaki and marched off.

"What did you say to him?" Xan Rei had asked.

"He's only going to get in the way if he stays out here… That teenager has no control over his emotions…" Fujisaki said. "So I sent him back."

"But what about me?" Xan Rei said, "He and I are in the same unit…"

"You stay out here and observe." Fujisaki said, removing a glove from his hand. "Tonight, you shall witness how you extract the power of the Tohoshinki."

Ginei then saw Fujisaki's hand glow in a fiery blue. And he walked towards him. He tried to move, he tried to get away but it was futile. With his hands and feet bound, there was no way to escape. If he tried to resist, he'd be killed. If he didn't try, he'd be killed.

When Fujisaki was only a mere foot away from Ginei, he saw that Fujisaki's focus go elsewhere. His eye contact honed in onto something else, something behind Ginei. Then swiftly, he leapt back away from Ginei and frowned slightly.

"I was wondering when you would show up…" Fujisaki said.

"Morioka"

Ginei then saw that he was being lifted from the ground and further away from Fujisaki. He felt strong arms hold him tight. And with that, he smelled an aroma of a cigarette that smelled just like the one Fujisaki had smoked.

"I could say the same to you Miyabi."

It was his father.

"D-dad?" He said weakly.

His father shifted his gaze slightly down towards his son. "I told you Gin…" He said silently. "I told you not to."

He then burst into silent tears. He didn't cry out loud but the tears rolled down his face like a river. He couldn't utter another word. "I-I…. I'm…"

"Shhh. Try not to talk… you look terrible." A soft voice said.

It was Lin.

"He always looked like that Lin… he'll be fine in no time."

It was Matsui.

"Captain, give me Ginei. I'll take him back to camp and get him treatment."

The last voice belonged to Raida.

They all had a fire in their eyes. They were the Trinity after all. His father had taken the three of them in from a very young age, even before Gin was born, and taught them how to survive and fight. They were his true superiors.

His father looked over at Ikeda who eyes filled with sincerity. Then he looked back at Ginei. "Raida, I know you are the fastest but you do not know who you are dealing with here. It is not someone you can outrun. Even if I can hold him off…"

"Don't worry so much Captain." Raida said. "I've been working on that technique."

His father thought for a moment. "Are you sure?... The last time…"

Raida shook his head. "I've improved and you know that Captain. You can trust me."

"Hold on Raida… On my mark…"

"I'd love to stay and talk some more Morioka…" Fujisaki said, striding nonchalantly over to them. "But I have business involving that child of yours and I'll be more than happy to take him from you."

"The hell you will."

With incredible speed, his father dashed up to Fujisaki and swung his fist with full strength, hitting him straight in the chest. Everyone was astounded, even Fujisaki who was caught within the blow. He was flung back several meters before he regained his stance. He coughed slightly and spat onto the dirt.

"Even without a full moon, you maintain so much power…" Fujisaki said, wiping his mouth. "You haven't changed one bit."

"Shut up and raise your fists Miyabi." His father said. "I'll take you down… even in this form."

Fujisaki closed his eyes and wagged a gloved finger at him. "Tsk tsk… and you are imprudent as usual… But I am only going to waste my time fighting you… Instead…"

He snapped his fingers.

Then, out of nowhere, three figures clad in white robes, appeared behind him. They all had a very distinct look to them. Each of them carried a varying sword, each with a different color and designed hilt. One figure, a female, had pale skin and bandages on her lower face, covering the lower portion of her nose and her mouth completely. She had aqua blue hair and silver eyes. Her sword was the shortest among the three but her hilt was in the shape of a six-pointed star with a silver sash. Partially covered by her bandages was a black number 5. The one next to her, a male, had flaming red hair. His skin was fair and covered with streaks of red paint. He bore the longest sword among the three. It had a square shaped hilt with l-shaped holes surround the beginning of the blade.

And now finally, the last of the three. He was the shortest one. His sword was a standard size and the hilt's edges curved, giving it and eye-like appearance. But what he wielded and wore mattered little. It was his rather unnerving appearance that set Ginei on edge. The… thing had raven-black hair and dark-green, cat-like eyes. His skin was a grayish pale, giving him a rather dead look. He had black upper lip and he what seemed to be a broken portion of a helmet or mask that covered a part of his head. He chilled Ginei to the bone.

"And now if you will excuse us." Fujisaki said, dusting his coat and pulling his glove back on. "I have some business to take care of. Xan Rai, follow me."

"Captain." Matsui said, unfazed, eyes fixed on his soon-to-be adversaries.

Ginei's father nodded. "The rumors were true…"

"Their spiritual energy…" Lin said, eyes becoming wide. "It's…"

"It's nothing we can't beat." Matsui said, shifting his stance. He quickly shot a glance at Ginei and then his father. "Captain."

"Ay. I know Matsui." He said, turning to Raida. "Get Gin out of here."

"But captain, judging by their spiritual energy-"

"Raida."

"Captain. This fight has turned from a three-on-one to a four-on-three. You can't expect me to leave!"

Ginei's father glared at Raida with an intense look in his eyes. "Raida. I know you are worried for Lin and Matsui. But you underestimate them. They've also been training, maybe even harder than you. They look up to you Raida. And now, when it matters most, you must be the one that fuels their will to fight. Get Ginei out of here."

Raida's face fell but he reluctantly agreed. He grabbed onto Ginei tightly and turned to leave.

"And Raida."

He turned around and faced his Captain.

"Don't take too long. We might be done with them by then." He said, adding a small grin.

Raida smirked and nodded.

And in a blink on an eye, both he and Ginei were gone.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

After a whirl of black and light, Ginei found himself on Raida's back still in the forest. They were nowhere near their headquarters but judging the sound, they were far from the fight that soon to occur. Ginei heard Raida let out a sigh of relief. He then began walking at a moderate pace, Ginei bobbing on his back.

"Raida?" Ginei said weakly.

Raida looked back at Ginei, still walking. "Hmm?"

"H-how did you guys find me so-"

"You leave an easy trail Gin." Raida said chuckling. "Anyone in the lower Tracking Division could have found you with the trail you left for us to find. In a way, I call that a blessing."

Ginei let out a muffled sigh, still guilt-ridden. "I-I'm sorry… For everything…"

Raida stayed silent for a moment, only the sounds of the grass and snapping twigs beneath his feet making sound.

"I should've listened to you…" Ginei said, his head hung low in shame. "I should've… should-"

"Ginei," Raida said, interjecting. "There a lot of things that many of us wish that we should have done. However, if we always chose what everyone said was right without knowing it ourselves, how will we distinguish the right from wrong?"

"But I failed-"

"No Gin." Raida said, grinning. "No, you didn't. In fact, you succeeded."

"Wha-"

Then from inside his armor, Raida pulled out an enclosed file. Ginei gasped. "That's… that's"

Raida nodded. "You completed a mission that many of your superiors probably couldn't accomplish."

"And I am probably going to get scolded for it… just like that one time with that Vampire-guy…"

Raida chuckled. "Yeah, you might be right."

"Well duh, I am always right…" Ginei said sarcastically.

"But who cares what the others say?" Raida said.

"Uh, I do?" Ginei retorted.

"Well, other than you…" Raida said, rolling his eyes. "Regardless, your father-"

"Oh no…" Ginei said shaking his head.

"He said-"

"That I am a complete failure of a son? Yeah I can live with-"

"-That he was proud of you."

"-and probably live on the stre- WHAT?!" Ginei exclaimed.

Raida laughed. "That's what he said. Despite what he told you at HQ, he secretly hoped that you would take on the mission… same with the mission regarding Akashiya…"

"But why? Why does he scold me when I do what he hoped me to do?"

"Tough love, Gin." Raida replied coolly. "We were all brought up by that, long before you Gin. Your dad isn't very good at showing affection… but it's just the way he does things… just like you getting yourself into bigger messes every time we come find you.

"We do things differently but for the same purpose…" Ginei said quietly.

"Exactly, and now-"

"I hate to interrupt this touching conversation," a calm yet cold voice said. "But I inquire some business with you two, and in particular, the boy."

The two turned around and saw Fujisaki standing on a dead tree's long branch. He was still smoking a cigarette, presumably the same one. He had a cold, heartless grin plastered across his face.

"Oh no…" Ginei whispered to himself.

Raida looked back Ginei momentarily before facing Fujisaki. "What do you want with him?!"

"Oh, nothing too special." Fujisaki said, leaping down from the branch and to the ground, approximately ten yards apart from Raida. "Just the power that is stored in the boy's seal."

"What seal?" Raida said, voice slightly quivering. Ginei noticed a drop of sweat roll off of Raida's cheek.

"Don't play dumb with me boy." Fujisaki said, his voice suddenly turning menacing. "The Mark of the Beast is within that boy. And I need it."

Ginei saw Raida's face turn pale. Raida gritted his teeth as he started to breath hard.

"What is he talking about Raida?" Ginei asked.

"Something you shouldn't have known until you were older… MUCH older…"

"And with a very good reason." Fujisaki said. "But now, that is irrelevant. So hand over the boy if you value your life boy."

Raida glared at Fujisaki, taking one step back. "Over my dead body."

"That's the idea." Fujisaki said, his facial expression remained cold. He grinned slightly.

Then, with incredible speed, Fujisaki lashed out at Raida with his foot. With equally stunning speed, he dodged the attack completely with Ginei on his back. Although the initial attack missed, Fujisaki's foot hit the thick trunk of a tree… and went clearly through. And a couple milliseconds later, the entire tree, probably way over fifty feet tall, toppled over like a domino. Also, a small cut was spread across Raida's left cheek, the blood slowly dripping down from the wound. Both Ginei and Raida were alarmed. They both assessed that their opponent was incredibly strong, no doubt. Also, even if they dodged the attack, they weren't in the clear and with Ginei on Raida's back, his movements weren't as graceful as before. If any of them took a direct hit from Fujisaki, they would be done for.

"Ginei." Raida said.

"W-what?" Ginei said, shakily.

"Reach into my satchel." He said. "The one on my right side."

Ginei opened the bag. Inside was a package of some sort and next to it was a part one-way transmitter. The one in the bag was the receiving end.

"Open the small package inside and hand me a pill." Raida said, breathing heavily.

Opening the small package, Daisuke found a handful of black colored pills about the size of a chestnut each. He reached for one but thought for a split second. He then took two out of the bag and also took out the radio without Raida noticing. He handed the first pill to Raida.

Raida held the pill in his hand. "Can you walk Ginei?"

He nodded. He jumped off of Raida's back and gave every effort to stand to which he did.

"Good." Raida said, fingering the pill in his hand. "You'll wanna stand back… REALLY back."

"Where do you think you're go-"

Raida then swallowed the pill.

Instantly, the ground around Raida began to tremble and crack. Some trees toppled over. A great surge of energy flowed out from Raida. It was an incomprehensible type of energy. Ginei was thrown a several feet from the burst and Fujisaki leaped several meters away. The already dark sky began to fill with even darker clouds. Several lightning bolts cracked across the sky.

The radio in Ginei's handed crackled to life.

"Raida is starting."

The voice belonged to Lin.

"We should too."

It was Matsui.

Then, the radio turned to static.

Ginei looked back at Raida who had his eyes shut, his hair flaring upwards, glowing with a golden light. A ball of energy enveloped around him, continuously feeding him energy.

"I should've guessed myself." Fujisaki said, straightening his coat out. "That you too bear the seal of a Tohoshinki… Such immeasurable of the Gods."

What is going on? Ginei thought as he created distance away from Raida and Fujisaki. What exactly are they talking about?

"How convenient…" Fujisaki said. "Your name similarly suits you… Inazuma Raida…"

Raida rumbled with even more power.

"Or should I say… Raijin?"

And with that, the God of Thunder opened his eyes.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

(A/N): Hopefully you guys know who Raijin is. Anyway, we get a taste of who Ginei was in the past and get a view of his backstory. (Which is far from being done, I assure you.) Hopefully you guys enjoyed this chapter! I know I did writing it. Leave a word or PM me if need be! Thanks for reading!
