a/n: So, here's the first chapter of the sequel. I swore I had nearly four chapters for it, but some seems to be missing. So unless I find it I'll just have to re-write it which is really no big deal. I'm pretty excited for this so I hope you like it. eek I'm nervous. I love you guys, I've missed you all I love this story. So keep in mind this is directly after season five, it's like my own season six.

It was late. Very late. Or very early. Depends on how you looked at it. It was near three a.m., and Dean was actually asleep for once. He had barely slept at all since Sam was trapped in hell. He obviously hadn't seen Sam since then. He had barely seen Cas either. He saw him once, after the day in the cemetery where he was resurrected and he saved Bobby. Since then Dean had stayed mostly with Bobby. Occasionally he went off and did his own thing, went on hunts alone, but he didn't like the loneliness much so he stayed with Bobby and hunted with him most of the time. Dean prayed more now, but only to Cas in hopes he would drop down and see him, if only for five minutes. He never did of course. Except for once, and Dean barely had time to touch him. Once considered going to see Lisa but he just couldn't bring himself to do it. Especially after Cas had come to see him. He stopped by for about 15 minutes, just to remind Dean he was still around, and still loved him. That night Dean had cried. He had never cried so hard before in his life. Then again he's never had someone so important, or been so important to another person, that they had stopped everything they were doing and risked life and limb, just to tell him, 'Hi, I miss you, I still love you.' It tore at Dean's heart. It also reminded him how much he missed Sam. He had sworn to Cas and Bobby, before he had even left the cemetery, he would not go looking for ways to bring back Sam. He didn't of course. He thought he might have, at least had made a half assed attempt at least once, if he wasn't around Bobby so much. So he didn't. He was a good boy for once, listened to what Cas had told him to do. Sometimes now he tells himself Cas is dead to protect his feelings in case he wakes up one morning and finds out it's true. He knows deep in his heart of hearts it's not, because sometimes when he prays he feels a flicker in his chest, right above his heart, and a tingle in his shoulder where the handprint is, and he knows that's the best response he'll get for now and he's okay with that, because that means his angel is alive and listening for him. But tonight was different. When he prayed there was no flicker in his chest or tingle under the scar, there was nothing. He stayed awake till 1 a.m. waiting. The feelings have been delayed before, many times, so he waited. For three hours. When it never came and Dean couldn't keep his eyes open any longer, he fell asleep. However, barely two hours later he was startled awake from a loud, rapid banging on the front door at Bobby's. He jolted awake and grabbed the gun from under his bed. He fumbled down the stairs and ripped open the door with the gun up and pointed at the entrance. When he registered what was waiting in the doorway the gun dropped. He didn't even lower it. The shock came over him in a heavy wave as the gun fell to his feet. He didn't know who he was happier to see, his baby brother or his angel. He could feel the tears swelling in his eyes and went to pull Sam into a hug. Until he noticed the circumstance, Cas was near unconscious, being held up against Sam's massive body. Cas looked minuscule next to him, scrawny and unhealthy. His face was littered with bruises and cuts. His white shirt was ripped and stained with marvelous red. Dean grabbed for him, practically ripping him away from Sam. Bobby came around the corner then storming in, vividly angry until he too took in the scene.

"Cas?! Cassie come on, answer me! Cas! C'mon angel face, don't leave me now. C'mon Cas answer me!" Dean shouted to the angel, tears pouring down his face now.

"Dean?" A small voice rasped gently from the angel.

"Yeah, yeah it's me I'm right here Cas. C'mon, stay with me angel. Cas?" Dean was frantic. Neither Bobby nor Sam had ever seen him like this.

"I love you, Dean." the small voice whispered again.

"I love you too angel but c'mon. You can't go on me like this. Stay with me!" Dean practically screamed. When Cas stayed silent Dean lost it. He picked up Cas and carried him newlywed style.

"Bobby get my keys, I'm taking him to the hospital."

"Dean calm down. We can wrap him up here." Bobby tried to reason.

"Don't you fucking dare tell me to calm down!" Dean screamed, "The cuts on his stomach are too deep. He needs pain meds. Get my fucking keys and meet me at the car!" Dean demanded. He hadn't even acknowledged Sam yet. He needed to make sure Cas was alive and going to remain alive before anything else happened. Bobby wasn't even sure how to respond to Dean's blind rage. So he found the keys in Dean's jacket and followed him out to the car. Dean climbed into the backseat trying to be gentle with the angel. Bobby got into the driver's seat and Sam hurried into the passenger seat. Bobby drove fast. Dean knew if he was driving he would be going twice as fast, but the hospital was fairly close, they would get there soon enough.

"C'mon Cas. You gatta stay awake. You have to stay with me. C'mon angel, listen to me. Listen to my voice stay awake. You can't die on me angel, you can't!"

"Dean," Cas forced, "I hurt." he whimpered out, eyes still closed.

"I know Cas, I know. We're going to the hospital, I'll get you better. They'll heal you. You'll be better." Dean sniffed. He was still crying, he couldn't help himself. He held Cas close and kept talking to him. Occasionally Cas would respond with a whimper to let Dean know he was still awake. When they pulled up to the emergency room Dean barely waited for the car to stop to jump out and run through the doors with the angel in his arms. The woman at the desk noticed Dean's frantic face and the condition of Cas immediately and called for a gurney. They came fast and frantic. Dean didn't want to let them take Cas but they had to. He knew they had to. So he placed Cas on the gurney and watched them wheel the angel down the hallway and through doors Dean wasn't allowed past. The woman at the desk told him he could relax and he had to stay there until further noticed. Dean nodded, the tears beginning to slow.

"Hey. Dean, don't worry. It's Cas. He'll be okay." Dean looked to where the voice was coming from, pulling his gaze from the double doors that led down the hall. He looked into his brother's face for the first time in months, and he lost it. The tears started up again and he hugged Sam close. He wanted to kick himself for crying so much and acting so chick flick, but he just couldn't help it.

"I missed you, Sammy." He whispered.

"I missed you too, Dean." Dean pulled away and nodded.

"We're sure this is Sam?" Dean asked Bobby getting his head back together.

"We're sure this is Sam." Bobby confirmed.

"Good." Dean said sitting in a hard plastic chair. Sam sat next to him and Bobby sat across from them. They stayed quite for a while, as people came in and out and ran all around as frantic as Dean was not too long ago. Dean watched the doors for what felt like hours. He could feel his eyelids getting heavy but he couldn't fall asleep, not now. However, against the will of every bone in his body, Dean fell asleep. Sam noticed this and felt a bit guilty. His brother was just slapped in the face with his favorite dream and worst nightmare all at once. It wasn't for another hour or two that the doctor came to speak with them.

"Hi. I'm Dr. Shore. You're the ones who brought in the dark haired man with the trench coat correct?" She asked the three of them. Sam stood up,

"Yes."

"Can I ask you some questions about him?"

"Sure." Sam said looking back to his brother who was still asleep.

"What's his name?"

"Castiel Novak."

"How are you three related to him?"

"We're brothers," Sam said gesturing to the sleepy Dean, "and that's our uncle," he motioned to Bobby, "my brother is uh, engaged to Castiel." The doctor nodded and wrote something down on her clipboard.

"How did the injuries happen?"

"Well, we're not sure. My brother and he were bickering a lot today and Cas left for a while. When he came back he was like that. My brother had been out looking for him and I called him and we came here." The doctor nodded again.

"Do you know of anybody that may be upset, so to speak, with their choice in relationship?" She asked obviously hinting towards the fact it was a homosexual relationship. But Sam knew there were probably more than just Sioux Falls citizens upset with their relationship for more reasons than homosexuality, but he couldn't tell the doctor that.

"No one directly," he told her, "but South Dakota is a big state, I'm sure there's someone." she nodded again.

"Thank you. I guess we just have to wait until Castiel wakes up. You're allowed to visit him then. His condition isn't too bad. He has a pretty bad concussion, a fractured wrist, and some sort of occult symbol carved into his torso that will take a long time to heal. Other than that most injuries are just superficial and should heal normally. Don't worry too much. He should make it out fine."

"Thanks doctor." Sam said as she walked away. He sat back down next to Dean who had started to stir. He sat up wincing at the discomfort between his shoulders from the uncomfortable position.

"Did I miss anything?" He asked groggily.

"The doctor came to see us." Dean straightened immediately, eyes widened,

"And?"

"He has a concussion, fractured wrist and some sort of sigil on his stomach. She said he'll probably be fine but it will take a while to heal. Also, his last name is Novak and your his fiancé."

"Fiancé?" Dean asked.

"Well I figured then that way you could visit him when he's awake since we're not technically family."

"Thanks Sammy." He said grateful Sam had taken over for him.

"Did they say anything about when they think he'll wake up?" Dean asked hopeful.

"No." Sam nodded.

"You hungry? Want a coffee or something?" Dean shook his head. He just wanted to see Cas and wanted to know everything that happened.

"Okay. Well I'm gonna go find some coffee. I'll be back soon."

"Okay." Dean said nodding and looking down at his knees. He fingered a hole in his jeans for a while, longer than he thought though because he was still playing with the loose threads when Sam came back about half an hour later.

"Heard anything?" Dean shook his head, eyes still droopy.

"Why don't you go back to sleep? I'll wake you up if they tell us anything."

"I'm not going back to sleep." Dean said defiantly, clearly angry with himself for falling asleep in the first place.

"That's fine too." Sam said sipping his coffee. Dean glared at his brother and returned to playing with the hole. It had clearly gotten larger from the tugging but Dean didn't really care. He could always get new jeans. Even though Dean had not wanted to sleep at all, he had found himself victim to it, soon after Bobby and Sam were fast asleep as well. It was around half past eight when the doctor woke up Sam.

"I was going to let you keep sleeping but you were the one I spoke to earlier and I figured you could keep your brother calm. I didn't think he would want to wait either. Castiel is awake. He doesn't seem to be in as much pain as he was and he's a little confused, but he's been asking for Dean for the past half hour. I'm assuming that's your brother?"

"Yeah it is. I'm sure they'll be happy to see each other. Where is he?"

"Down that hall to your left, number 31. It'll be on your right."

"Thanks doctor."

"No problem." Sam smiled and stood up. He tapped Dean on the shoulder.

"Dean?"

"What time is it?"

"Somewhere around eight, nine. Castiel is awake." Sam said with a gentle smile. Dean straightened,

"Where? Have you seen him? How is he?"

"I haven't seen him yet the doctor just woke me up. She said they gave him a room and he just woke up. She says he's doing better but he's asking for you. Come on." Dean stood up and followed Sam down the hallway. They stopped in front of a door numbered 31.

"This is it." Sam told him.

"Can I go in alone first?" Dean asked.

"Sure." Sam nodded, he'd figured that'd be the case. Dean pushed open the door slowly and peered inside.

"Cas?" he said walking in.

"Dean?" said a quiet voice coming from the other side of the curtain. Dean walked quickly around the curtain and found Cas standing next to his bed. Dean closed the space between them quickly. He was gentle with where he placed his hands and was gentle as he pressed his lips against Cas'. Castiel kissed back happily.

"I missed you angel." Dean said gently kissing all inches of Cas' face. He ran his hand through His hair and traced his jaw. He kissed him again.

"I missed you too Dean." Cas admitted melting into his arms. Dean noticed the thick, white bandage wrapped around Cas' torso from under his armpits to just above his belly button.

"How are you feeling?" Dean asked pulling both of them onto the bed. He put Cas in his lap and kissed his neck softly.

"Better they gave me a lot of medication, but, I'm, not going to be an angel for a while." He admitted sadly.

"What do you mean?" Dean asked confused and concerned.

"The sigil. It confines my Grace and makes it so I can't use it. I'm human." It explained most of the answers on Dean's mind, like why he hadn't healed himself and why he was so skinny.

"Get Sam. I'll tell you both." Dean climbed off the bed and opened the door to let Sam in. He followed Dean around the curtain to Cas. Dean got back on the bed and pulled Cas closer to him again.

"How are you feeling?" Sam asked Cas.

"Better thanks."

"So what happened?" Dean asked running his hands through Cas's hair gently.

"I pulled Sam from hell." Cas said quietly.

"We figured as much, angel. What happened to you."

"I spent months trying to figure how to get so deep into Hell with minimal damage. That's why I haven't been around. When I came to visit you I was planning on going that night. And I did. And I was captured. They kept me down there and tortured me. They carved this into me last night and let me go, told me they were bored with me. They didn't expect I'd be able to get out, much less with Sam. But I did. That's why I didn't respond to your prayer last night. I was going to visit you in your dream to let you know I was coming but I couldn't. I got us to Bobby's with what was left of my Grace and now, I just have to wait for this to heal and hopefully I'll be back to normal again." He played with Dean's hand as he talked. He talked slowly and meticulously. He met Sam's eyes when he finished.

"You did that for me?" Sam asked, voice filled with guilt. Cas nodded and looked back to Dean's hand.

"I had to." He claimed, "I couldn't leave you down there." Cas admitted. Dean pulled him closer and kissed his neck.

"Thank you." Sam told him, voice strained.

"You're welcome Sam." He said meeting his eyes.

"I'll let you guys be alone for a while. Maybe I'll go update Bobby and see if he wants me to bring him back to the house."

"Thanks." Dean said meeting his brother's eyes. Sam left the room and Dean nuzzled his face into Cas' neck.

"You never stop being amazing Cas." Dean whispered to him.

"I don't know. I don't feel very amazing. Look. I have a cast." He admitted lifting up his wrist to show Dean the black appendage on his wrist. Dean smiled and let out a small laugh and kissed the cast. Cas winced a little and shifted in Dean's lap.

"You okay?" Dean asked trying not to touch him.

"No. Sore." Cas whimpered.

"Want me to call the nurse." Cas nodded.

"You'll probably fall asleep."

"I know." Cas winced again. Dean pressed the nurse button and a couple minutes later a bouncy woman with dark hair came in.

"How are you feeling Castiel?" She asked smiley.

"Fine. In pain." he told her.

"I figured." She said as she began filling his IV bag with the painkillers.

"I'll let you sleep." Dean said about to get up.

"No. Don't leave me." Cas begged.

"Have you been having nightmares?" Dean whispered. Cas nodded with almost tears in his eyes.

"Hey, hey don't worry. I'm right here angel I won't leave you." The nurse left and waved goodbye, leaving the two alone. Dean helped Cas get into a comfortable position and squeezed close together on the bed.

"I'm not sure this is allowed Cas."

"I don't care. You can't leave me." He said almost panicked.

"I'm not going to. I'm right here. Get some sleep angel." Dean told him and kissed his lips softly.

"I'm not going to leave you. I'll stay with you as long as I have to." Cas nodded his eyelids already heavy. Dean kissed each eye and soon Cas was fast asleep. Dean figured he should sleep too knowing all too well he'd probably have some sleepless nights with Cas' nightmares. Dean woke much later to the feeling of Cas fidgeting under his arms.

"Hi Cas." Dean whispered.

"Mmm hi." Cas mused, hiding a whimper of pain.

"How are you feeling?"

"Better than earlier." Dean kissed him gently.

"Good. How'd you sleep?"

"I woke up a few times."

"Remembering things?" Dean asked knowing all too well about his lack of sleep. Cas nodded against Dean's chest.

"It'll get better eventually."

"I know." Cas said sitting up. Dean followed.

"I'm...hungry." Cas announced a little confused.

"I'll go get Sammy to get us something. What do you want?"

"Can I have a burger?" Cas asked, eyes lighting up.

"Ohhh no. No more burgers for you. Ever." Dean said sternly.

"Come on Dean. Just one! Famine is dead and I have a fractured wrist." Cas said with a pout.

"Fine." Dean said rolling his eyes and kissing the protruding lip. He left the room to see if Sam was still around. Not seeing him in the immediate area he called him.

"Hey where you?" Dean asked.

"I just brought Bobby back to the house. Need something?"

"Yeah. Sneak us in food. Two burgers and uh, get Cas some pie. He's starving."

"Alright I'll stop at the diner. I'll be there soon."

"Thanks Sam." Dean made his way back to the room. When he got back he found Cas sitting on his bed beaming.

"Why so happy all of sudden?" Dean said a smile dancing on his own lips.

"The doctor told me I could go home if I wanted. But I have to come back for my wrist."

"So soon? Do you want to leave?"

"Yes. Please get me out of here." Dean chuckled softy.

"Course angel, we'll have to stay at Bobby's for a while though. So your stomach can heal." Cas nodded in agreement and smiled widely.

"You're happy." Dean said running his hands through Cas' hair. Cas closed his eyes and let out a small hum of pleasure.

"I missed you a lot Dean." Cas said sadly. Dean looked deeply into Cas' brilliant blue eyes. They were filled with a hunger for more than just a burger. Dean pressed his lips forcefully against Cas'. Cas was eager and pushed his hands up Dean's shirt. Dean was trying to be gentle and carefully placed his hand on Cas' neck.

"You can touch me Dean. I'm not going to break." Cas said panting.

"I don't want to hurt you." Dean breathed.

"I'll live." Cas said hungrily. Dean shoved Cas down on the bed and climbed on top of him. He kissed his neck and ran his mouth up to meet Cas'. Their tongues met with a friction that caused a moan to escape from Dean.

"I have food. Please stop or you're not getting any." Sam called from the doorway. Dean groaned but Cas crawled out from underneath Dean and practically launched himself at Sam. Dean chuckled softly to himself.

"You brought me a burger right?" Cas asked grabbing the box from Sam.

"Of course." Sam said a smile tugging at his lips.

"Thanks." Dean said grabbing his own box,

"Would you mind doing me one last favor?" Dean said trying to replicate Sam's Puppy eyes.

"Depends?"

"The doctor said Cas could leave tonight and she's coming to give him one last check over in an hour or so. Can you go back to the house and bring me sweatpants and a tshirt or something for Cas to wear?"

"I guess." Sam said with a sarcastic sigh. "Well that's good Cas, you get to leave." Cas nodded happily taking the last bite of his burger.

"Well I guess I'll see you in like half an hour." Sam said with a wave. Cas opened the smaller styrafome box and found a large slice of pie.

"Dean, here's your pie."

"Not mine." Dean told him. "I got that for you."

"Really?" Cas said lighting up. Dean nodded and Cas immediately picked up the plastic fork and ate the whole thing in no time.

"You're the best Dean."

"I know." Dean said proudly. Sam came back soon after with a pair of black sweatpants and a grey tshirt for Cas. They sat around for a while. Cas was being exceptionally clingy to Dean, touching him staring at him, not letting him venture more than 3 feet away. Dean thought it was a little weird for Cas but he didn't mind. He missed Cas, and liked the attention. Dean talked with Sam for a while telling him what he's been doing since he's been gone. They just sat around enjoying being reunited after so long. However Cas' doctor interrupted them with the forms to let Cas leave. Dean helped him fill them out and change into the clothes Sam brought. Cas loved have the soft material against his sore skin. It felt like Dean, and he liked that.

"C'mon angel. Let's go home." Dean said softly taking Cas' non casted hand in his own. Cas moved in closer to Dean's body and walked with him out to the car.
