Chapter 14

Romance In A Warehouse

Butei High – Warehouse # 13 – Sub-Level 9

September 23rd - 14:15

After the incident on the train, Tatsu had declared that the rest of the day be for sleeping. After all, we had been up almost all night long thanks to Sherlock and Vega. Momo had to handle the authorities since she had been the one who had attacked the train. I ended up getting cornered by Aria and Shirayuki, since they wanted to hear about what had happened when the train cable had been severed. I told them… about half of what happened. I only said that Momo had told us that Vlad had kidnapped Rico.

Now the six of us; Kinji, Aria, Shirayuki, Momo, Tatsu, and I; were wandering around the underground area of one of the restricted warehouses.

I looked around skeptically and timidly asked, "Are we even allowed in here?"

"Probably not." Tatsu was currently using his scythe to try and pry open a crate.

"Then why are we down here?"

"Looking for stuff." The top of the crate suddenly went flying off to some forgotten corner of the warehouse. Tatsu reached in and pulled out a small beautiful clay vase covered in strange pieces of paper. To my surprise, and Momo's terror, he casually tossed the vase over his shoulder.

Momo leaped to catch it, and barely caught it as it fell to the floor. "Are you insane? These are demon seals! Are you trying to kill us all? She stood up cradling the vase like a baby.

"I doubt whatever is in there is that powerful." Tatsu then moved on to the next crate once again using his scythe to try and pry it open.

I looked around to see what everyone else was doing; Aria had somewhat followed Tatsu's example and was shooting a crate repeatedly trying to blast it open, Momo was frantically running from Tatsu to Aria trying to get them to open the crates more carefully, Kinji and Shirayuki had opened a large shipping container and were looking at vast amounts of swords and other similar weaponry. Then I realized something…

"Hey Tatsu…"

Tatsu stopped pulling on the crate and looked over at me, "What?"

"What are looking for?"

At that, Aria stopped shooting and turned to look at us; Kinji and Shirayuki stopped throwing the weapons back into the container and did the same; Momo on the other hand, looked like she was gonna strangle Tatsu.

"Didn't I tell everyone already?"

"NO!" Everyone was fuming; we'd been running around the warehouse for at least three hours.

"Huh… I could've sworn I already said what we're looking for… Oh well." Hr paused for a minute looking for an example, and seeing none he just sighed, "It's basically a white transparent orb with black fire in it."

Kinji was the first to speak, "How are we supposed to find some small orb in this massive warehouse?"

"I guess we just split up and start looking."

Aria suddenly got a freaky look in her eyes as she said, "I vote we go in pairs!"

Shirayuki then smiled creepily and shouted, "Agreed!"

Before I knew what had happened, Shirayuki had grabbed Kinji and ran off, while Aria and Momo just plain vanished.

I turned to look at Tatsu to see him attempting to pry open yet another crate. "Will you stop that already! If it's so important, what makes you think is going to be in such a little crate?"

"The orb isn't the only thing I'm looking for." The top of the crate flew off and smashed into the side of the shipping container. "We're also looking for anything that could be useful."

I went to sit down on a nearby crate as I said, "Any ideas on what we should be looking for?"

"Not really… just tell me if you find anything weird or interesting." He reached into the crate and pulled out a clay elephant head. "Well weird as in… well not this…" He carefully put the elephant put the elephant head back into the crate and moved onto the next crate.

I sighed and started to open the crate that I'd been using as a chair. In it were a number of small clay pots with those demon seals. Also in there was a somewhat large black box wrapped in a thick silver chain. I reached in and pulled it out, there was a small tag that said EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

"Tatsu, is this something you'd be interested in?" I held the box up, carefully making sure that the chain didn't unravel from the box.

He quickly took the box from me in shock and, (something that terrified me) he looked at it fearfully. "This… is something that I thought was destroyed years ago but…"

He suddenly stopped talking and just looked at the box, as if waiting for something to happen. "But, what?"

"Hmm… Oh, sorry. It's just it might be useful. I just hope that we won't need to use it…"

"Well, what is it then!"

"I'm sorry but… I can't tell you. It's something that can do the impossible but… there are horrible costs to use it."

"All these damn secrets!" I grabbed a fist full of his coat and glared at him angrily. "You promised you would tell me everything! No more secrets! We're a team now, you have to trust me!"

I looked down quickly. I could feel tears in my eyes, but I couldn't figure out why. Why is this upsetting me so much? I knew that he wasn't telling me everything but something was wrong with this one… it just felt really important about whatever was in that box.

To my complete surprise he cupped my chin and kissed my forehead. I stumbled backwards, blushing furiously as he said, "It's something that can help but at a great cost to the user. I don't to tell how to use it or what it does, simply because I don't want you getting hurt."

My mind was reeling. I didn't know what to say or even what to do. Was I angry? Or maybe I was happy? I didn't know… Everything was spinning.

"I found it!" Kinji's shout shook me from my reverie. I blinked and looked around me; Aria and Shirayuki were whispering and kept glancing at me, Momo was examining a blood red katana with weird spines on it. Kinji was holding a clear orb with black fire in it. There was a small label that said, 'SHADOW REAPER'S ORB: DO NOT TOUCH, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.' Tatsu was sitting on top of what seemed to be the only unopened crate. "This is the right one right?"

Tatsu grabbed the orb and stared at the little flame in it. The flame suddenly flared and started moving around in the orb. "Yeah this is it." He put the orb in a large brown bag that he was carrying. When he opened the bag, I saw the black box from earlier along with a bunch of odd items.

"So now that we have this mask, how is this Gainen guy gonna know that we have it?" Shirayuki stopped her hushed conversation with Aria and stood up.

"Well truthfully it's gonna help us find him."

"How so?" Aria looked at him curiously but Momo seemed to be glaring at him.

"You'll see…"

Unknown Area

"The high king has ordered your execution Gainen." The deformed creature stood before Gainen, in one hand he held a massive sword that seemed to stare at Gainen hungrily. In his other hand he was dragging a small blond haired girl. Tears streamed from her eyes as multiple cuts along her arms bled slowly.

"What makes you think that you could possibly beat me? I gave you that arm, what makes you think that I can't take it away? You are nothing more than an empowered human. You don't even have a fraction of a Shadow's power, and I am one of the strongest Shadows alive!"

"You are an old man who has outlived his usefulness to the great Shadow King Serator, and I am his dark hand; the hand that shall rip apart your pathetic existence!"

The creature let go of the small girl and she hit the ground and two screams of wrenching pain echoed throughout the night,

"You may have helped me recover my arm but you failed to satisfy our masters demands. Disappointing the Shadow King is the worst thing you could ever do."

With a massive sword through his chest and black lightning shooting out from the wound, spreading along his body, "You are nothing more than a sad possessed little human." With that Gainen laughed and died.

With a snarl the creature tore Gainen's head from his body and threw it at a door. Then the creature stopped and grinned. Using Gainen's blood he wrote a message on the wall.

On his way out of the building he picked up the small girl again, smiling at her pitiful whimpers. He stopped when the girl passed out and threw her through a door way.

So its been a while since I last posted... Summer called my name and Skyrim caught my attention... So yeah. Oh and then my computer got a virus and then my flashdrive (where I store all my Xbox 360 data) deleted everything on itself. My Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Final Fantasy XIII, and all my minecraft worlds GONE, Deleted forever... So I was very upset. But I'm over it now.

Anyway I'm a slow typer and this chapter took a while. Chapter 15 should be up either in 2 to 4 weeks...maybe...probably. And Chapter 16 will come up whenever.
