Chapter- The dead and the new darkness

"Hello Aragorn," I greeted him as he walked past us.

" Just where do you think you're off to," Gimli asked him as he paused from walking.

"Not this time," Aragorn told us," This time you must stay Gimli. As do you Dusky."

" Hmmmm," Gimli muttered.

I smiled as Legolas walked up leading Arod and EverLost,"Have you learnt nothing of the stubbornness of dwarves?"

"You might as well accept it," Gimli told Aragorn," We're going with you laddie. "

Aragorn smiled and turned to me,"You know that there's no way I'm not going."

The four of us ride rode the camp along the Dimholt road. I could hear Theoden and the soldiers talking about us leaving.

"What's happening, where is he going? I don't understand. Lord Aragorn! Why does he leave on the eve of battle? "

"He leaves because there is no hope," Gamling said solemnlyz

"He leaves because he must," Théoden corrected him.

000ooo000ooo000

We rode through a barren cannon. I wanted to leave. Something was wrong, something dark was hovering over this land. I knew I couldn't be the only one who felt it.

"What kind of army would linger in such a place," Gimli asked as we road in silence.

"One that is cursed," Legolas answered him," Long ago the men of the mountains swore an oath to the last King of Gondor to come to his aid, to fight. But when the time came, when Gondor's need was dire, they fled vanishing into the darkness of the mountain. And so Isildur cursed them, never to rest until they had fulfilled their pledge. Who shall call them from the grey twilight, the forgotten people? The heir of him to whom the oath they swore. From the North shall he come, need shall drive him. He shall pass the door to the Paths of the Dead."

I shivered as I listen to Legolas' words, but we slowly rode on. EverLost was a constant movement as I anything would jump out of the trees and attack us. Finally, we approached the entrance to the Paths of the Dead. I hopped off EverLost and started to walk.

"The very warmth of my blood seems stolen away," Gimli said spooked.

I silently read the door as Legolas read then allowed,"The way is shut. It was made by those who are dead and the dead keep it. The way is shut."

Something flew out of the door towards us. I yelped and ducked-It spooked the horses, which pulled on the reins and run away from us.

"Brego," Aragorn called and I instantly hooked up with EverLost.

Go as far as you must but you should take them to safety.

I heard her shrill whinny in reply. I don't think I would get to see her again.

"I do not fear death," Aragorn yelled before he walke through the entrance, Legolas grabbed my hand and we followed after him. I pressed into Legolas for comfort.

"Well this is a thing unheard of," I could hear Gimli at the top of the entry way," An elf will go underground, where a dwarf dare not. Oh. Oh, I'd never hear the end of it."

Aragorn lead us with a torch. I tried not to look at all the skulls,"What is it? What do you see," Gimli asked Legolas, I gulped.

"I see shapes of men and of horses," Legolas answered him.

"Well. That's not comforting," I hissed and gripped Legolas' hand tighter. He squeezed it back.

"Where?," Gimli asked, frantically looking around. If this was a movie I would have laughed.

"Pale banners like shreds of cloud, " Legolas murmured," Spears rise like winter thickets through a shroud of mist. The dead are following. They have been summoned. "

Gimli spun around to look behind us,"The dead? Summoned? I knew that! Huh. Huh.," I stepped closer to Legolas as Gimli tirned back around," Very good. Very good," we moved forward without him and when he realized that we weren't there anymore," Legolas! Dusky!"

Ghostly hands writhed around Legolas and then Aragorn and finally Gimli and I. They are ethereal. Gimli tried to blow them away. Aragorn and Legolas turn looking at the hands. Aragorn glanced down,"Do not look down. "

"Why," I wondered and let out a choked scream when i saw all the human skulls under us. I took a few steps back until I felt something slide out from under me and I fell. Down about a twenty foot drop. Why am I always getting into these types of predicaments?

Legolas rushed over to the side,"Dusky?!"

"I'm fine," I called up to him as I dusted off my pants and looked around, no present danger I sighed in relief,"I just fell."

Gimli's head poked over the edge,"Aye! So you did! Need us to pull ya up?"

"Hold on Let me see where this leads," I called us to them before I knelt down and whispered the spell,"Skulblakas ven," my vision turned violet and I was able to see auras and outline of any land. I squinted at the road up ahead and gazed farther, as if I was running forward. The road followed the one above me, into a field. I released the spell and looked back up at Gimli and Legolas,"This path down here meets up with yours. It's not very far! I'll meet you there."

Aragron looked down,"You are sure you shall be fine?"

In response I held up my hand and shot a bolt of purple magic near his head,"Well that worked. So I should be fine."

Aragorn smirked,"Travel safely!"

"You too!"

I started running in the ditch. I picked up speed determined not to have the boys waiting for me when I made it there. About half-way in, I tripped over a rock, and that was lucky. A freaking SPIDER half my size shot above me and landed on a tree at my head Hieght. I gave a shrill shriek before I held up my hand and shot a bolt of magic, killing it. I heard loud hisses behind me and I stood up and made a run for it.

My throat burned, my legs burned. Everything hurt as the hisses slowly started to fade and then grow and fade and grow and fade. I shot bolts of magic behind me as I ran and that only seemed to speed what ever was chasing me (giant spiders most likely). I kicked it into high gear.

Finally, I emerged from the ditch-path running from around a corner. The hissing had stopped completely and all I could hear was myself gasping for air.

Aragorn lead the others forward as we met in an open space which contained a large building. He turned looking around with his torch.

"Who enters my domain," a deep voice called out.

I turned and the King of the Dead appeared before some steps in front of us,"One who will have your allegiance," Aragorn called out.

"The dead do not suffer the living to pass," the King of the dead snarled at us.

"You will suffer me," Aragorn shot back at him.

The King of the Dead laughed menacingly. As he did a whole Kingdom of buildings appeared around us. Soldiers emerged from them. A deadly army surrounded us, I shivered at their chanting," The way is shut! It was made by those who are dead. And the dead keep it," the army closed in around us," The way is shut! Now you must die! "

Legolas and I fired arrows which passed straight through the King and clattered to the ground,"I summon you to fulfill your oath," Aragorn shouted strutting towards the king.

"None but the King of Gondor may command me," the KOTD shouted. He approached Aragorn to attack him. Aragorn retaliated and blocked his sword with Anduril,"That blade was broken!"

"It has been remade," Aragorn shouted as He caught the King by the throat and pushed him back. The ghostly army stood looking at him,"Fight for us and regain your honour. What say you?" We looked at the dead army, Aragorn walked through them," What say you?"

"Ach," Gimli said to us before anyone could stop him,"You waste your time Aragorn. They had no honour in life and they have none now in death. "

Aragorn ignored him,"I am Isildur's heir. Fight for me and I will hold your oaths fulfilled. What say you? " The King laughed again and the army begin to disappear. Legolas grabbed my hand and pulled me close to protect me. I gripped Garjla's handle, "You have my word! Fight and I will release you from this living death," they disappeared fully,"What say you? "

"Stand you traitors," Gimli baited them. But the Dead Army was gone. There was a cracking sound and the walls of the building in front of them began to collapse. Hundreds of human skulls fall down towards us,

"Out! out," I shouted, as I led the group towards the exit by climbing up and then sliding down the skulls, "Run! "

We managed to leave the place running out of the cave as the skulls continued to rain down behind us. We emerged into the sunlight. Aragorn looked down from the high place to see ships on the river and a burning town. The feeling of pure failure sinks into Aragorn, He sunk down on his knees in despair, tears in his eyes. Legolas and approached him and Legolas put his hand on his shoulder. Aragorn bowed his head. I felt tears of hopelessness form in my eyes.

Now that we were out I the open, the feeling of death, and this new darkness increased. The charm Gandalf had given me burned my collar bone. A wind blew in from out of nowhere, and I finally realized what the darkness was. But I was too late to warn anyone. It was already here!

yay! I don't know when I'm going to post again, so please review so I can kinda gage on when it post! Gosh I feel like this was a little Sue-y.
