Chapter 21
Amy walled to Shadow's room, placing her ear against the door. "Is he awake?" She thought out loud, before simply shrugging and turning the knob. "Shadow?" The ebony hedgehog was still fast asleep, his mouth hanging open a little as he breathed in and out. "Awh! He looks sooo cute!" The rosy female exclaimed, and when she realized that she had said that out loud, placed a hand on her mouth. Shadow stirred in his sleep, before turning on his other side. Rolling her eyes, she walked up to him and shook his shoulder. "Shadow? Shadow wake up!"
"Humph! Leave me alone!" Shadow grunted, turning on his other side and pulling the covers over his head. Rolling her eyes, Amy walked out, coming in a minute later with a bowl full of water in her hands.
"Shadow, you better get up." The pink female warned, holding the bowl over his head. When he said nothing, she tilted it, pulling the cover away from him and pouring it all over his head.
"What!" Shadow shot up, water droplets trailing down his face. He glared at the rosy hedgehog, his red orbs flicking to the bowl in her hand. "Just what the hell was that for?!" He yelled, watching Amy simply shrug and smile at him.
"For not getting up." Amy answered, tugging at his hand. "Come on Shadow!" Glaring again, the grumpy ebony hedgehog rolled off the bed, yawning as he stretched his arms above his head. "Good. I'll make breakfast while you take a shower." With that said, she walked out of the room, leaving Shadow to look after her with an annoyed expression.
"Humph! Remind me to never leave my door open ever again!"
xXx
"What do you like Shadow?" Amy asked, glancing at the black and red-streaked hedgehog who was sat down at the table, tapping his foot impatiently.
"I like being alone, doing nothing but sleeping." Shadow muttered, rubbing his eyes. Amy rolled her jade green orbs, placing their breakfast on the table.
"Just what are you talking about Shadow? What I meant was: what would you like for breakfast?" Amy asked again, her hands on her hips as she waited for him to answer.
"I don't mind. Bring me whatever you want." Shadow said, seeing the pink female roll her eyes.
"Well, I have prepared cornflakes, butter and jam on toast and eggs. Eat whatever you want." Amy said, sitting down on the table. She grabbed a knife and began spreading some butter on the bread. Shadow raised an eyebrow, stared at each of them in turn, before shrugging and pouring cornflakes in a bowl with milk on top of it. Both hedgehogs were enjoying their breakfast when Amy broke the silence. "I was thinking..."
"What were you thinking...?" Shadow asked sarcastically, stuffing the cornflakes in his mouth. The pink hedgehog frowned, glaring at him a little.
"Why are you so grumpy Shadow? What have I done?" Amy questioned, standing up and placing her hands on her hips as she glared down at him. Shadow rolled his eyes.
"You woke me up." He pointed out as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Amy also rolled her eyes, her nose scrunching up as she caught sight of the food inside his food.
"Oh, so did you really expect me to leave you to sleep until... I don't know! 9:00am! It was 7:00am when I woke you up!" Amy said as she started clearing the table. Shadow finished his breakfast, and then pushed the bowl away from him. "I always woke you up at 7:00am, why are you so grumpy today?"
"I didn't get much sleep last night." Shadow answered, the pink hedgehog shooting him a confused look.
"Why didn't you sleep last night?" Amy questioned again, tilting her head to the side as she stared at him.
"I couldn't go to sleep no matter how much I tried. So, tell me, what were you thinking?" The ebony hedgehog asked, leaning back. Amy finished what she was doing, and then sat down with her hands supporting her chin as she smiled at him.
"Well, we haven't really spent much time together in these days, so I was thinking that we should do something fun today." The pink girl hedgehog replied, waiting for Shadow to say something. Just as the black and crimson hedgehog opened his mouth, the sound of Amy's phone ringing filled the air. "I'll be right back." Amy said, smiling at Shadow as she walked out of the room. The black and red striped hedgehog frowned. A few minutes later, Amy walled in the kitchen, her phone in her hand.
"What happened?" Shadow asked, watching the petite female as she set the phone down on the table, took a seat and then smiled at him brightly.
"Sonic called me..." Amy trailed off, a frown immediately crossing Shadow's mouth. "He wanted to hang out again, well, go on a date. I told him that I was spending the day with you. That's all."
"You should go on your 'date'. Don't worry about me." Shadow said, sighing as he offered her a small smile.
"No Shadow. I want to spend some time with you. So, do you have any ideas about where we could go?" Amy smiled back, watching the ebony hedgehog's eyes brighten a little. She resisted the urge to reach out and place her hand over his. His hand was resting right beside her own one. Moving her hand away, she raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to answer.
"Well, if you insist... I also want to spend time with my best friend." Shadow grinned, causing the pink hedgehog to smile on the outside, but frown on the inside. She was his best friend. Nothing else. "I have a few places in mind where I can take you to, but you have to tell me if you're interested. If not, then we can go wherever you want." He said, breaking Amy out of her thoughts.
"Of course I'm interested! Take me to those places." The pink hedgehog stood up, seeing Shadow also stand up. "Today's gonna be a very great day! I can tell already!" She exclaimed, Shadow chuckling a little. Amy then turned to face him. "I will change out of my pyjamas." She walked out of the kitchen, leaving Shadow with a small smirk on his face as he watched after her.
"You will have more fun with me than faker... Rose. So much that you'll want to spend your time with me every day and not that blue idiot."
xXx
"Shadow, I'm ready. Let's go!" Amy stood at the bottom of the stairs, running her fingers through her shoulder-length quills. Shadow trailed his eyes from her head to her toes, his crimson orbs widening a little. "What?"
"Nothing. You look very beautiful." Shadow replied, his face going expressionless again as Amy turned bright red. She was wearing a long-sleeved pink turtleneck top with dark blue skinny jeans. She had decided that she would stop wearing the same red dress every day.
"Thanks..." The pink hedgehog trailed off, fixing her pink headband on her head. She then walked over to him. "So, ready to go?" She questioned, watching the ebony hedgehog nod his head and pull out the green chaos emerald. He then held Amy's hand, not seeing her blush and hold his hand tighter.
"Chaos Control." After Shadow said that, both hedgehogs arrived in what looked like a forest. Amy looked around, her eyebrows narrowing in confusion.
"Shadow, we are in a forest." The pink hedgehog said, thinking that maybe the ebony hedgehog had brought them here by mistake.
"I know." Shadow said simply, and then turned to face her. "Come on, I want to show you something." He said with a little bit of excitement in his voice. Amy let a smile cross her lips and walked over to him.
"What is it that you want to show me?" She asked curiously, watching Shadow pick her up bridal style in his arms and smirk down at her.
"It's a surprise." The black and red male replied, making Amy more curious than ever. "Hold on tight." He said, feeling her arms wrap around his neck tightly. The rosy female blushed, as Shadow started skating. About three minutes later, he stopped and let Amy stand on her feet. As soon as her feet touched the ground, she trailed her jade green orbs around, a gasp leaving her mouth.
"Oh my God, Shadow! This place is beautiful!" Amy exclaimed, a huge smile on her lips. The place where Shadow had brought her didn't even look like it was in a forest. There were thousands of trees, and not the dull type. No, they seemed... Alive. Well, they were, but usually trees looked lifeless. The pink hedgehog caught sight of a bird building a nest for itself which made her giggle. The sun shone brightly, which was quite a surprise as the weather was always cloudy. A clear blue river ran in front of them and Amy stepped forward, the water reflecting her face.
"I'm glad you like it Rose. This is my most favourite place in the world. It always calms me down when I am feeling... Well, angry or upset." Shadow smiled at the rosy female, watching her smile in return.
"It really is a wonderful place, Shaddy!" Amy smiled again as she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply.
"Shaddy? Who is Shaddy?" The ebony hedgehog questioned, seeing Amy open her eyes and grin at him.
"Who else silly? You! You have given me a nickname and so to make it fair, I gave you one." Amy grinned again, and then walked over to a squirrel who was trying the break the nut it was holding. She reached out to touch it when it ran off. "This place is so... Magical. It doesn't even look like a forest."
"Yeah... Let's sit down on the edge of the river." Shadow said, the pink hedgehog looking up and nodding her head. Both of them sat down, Amy running her hand through the water as she giggled at the feeling. Grinning slyly, she watched him from the corner of her eye. The ebony hedgehog seemed to be deep in thought as he focused on the flowing river. Dipping her hand in the water, she threw some of the liquid at him, giggling as he snapped out of his thoughts, looking startled.
"Ahahahaha! You should have seen your face Shadow, it was so funny!" Amy exclaimed as she held on to her stomach, laughing loudly. Raising one of his eyebrows, Shadow also threw some water at the pink hedgehog. Amy gasped as the cool water met her face, breathing deeply.
"You should have seen your face!" Shadow chuckled, Amy glaring at him as a mischievous grin crossed her muzzle. She reached towards Shadow and then, with all of her strength, pushed him in the water. The black and red streaked hedgehog came up a second later, glaring playfully at the pink hedgehog. "Won't you help me?" He asked, holding out his hand. Amy grabbed his hand and started pulling, but instead of helping him out, she fell in the river herself. Shadow chuckled, and Amy knew instantly that he had pulled her in on purpose.
"You!" She exclaimed, and since Shadow was too busy laughing, she reached out and dipped his head down in the water. He came up and when she was about to do it again, he grabbed her wrist, causing her to squeal as he dunked her own head in the river. They played around for another three minutes before they both got out and Amy squeezed the water out of her quills. "That was fun!" She breathed, watching Shadow smirk in return.
"Yes it was..." The ebony hedgehog trailed off, watching as the pink hedgehog fought the urge to sneeze. He stared at her for another few seconds before he realized what he was doing and immediately turned his head the other way.
"We should come here often. It really does calm people down." Amy smiled, walking to Shadow who only nodded his head. "Come on! Let's walk!" She said, tugging his hand.
"Alright." Shadow said, both of them walking at the same pace as Amy smiled happily. Squirrels scurried around them, while birds chirped as they fed their young chicks. The ebony hedgehog ducked, going through the branches of a tall, big tree with its branches hanging down. Amy also went through, looking all around her.
"How did you find this place, Shaddy?" Amy asked, causing Shadow to shoot her an annoyed look. He obviously didn't like the nickname she had given him, or he was simply playing with her.
"I was walking through this forest when I got lost. I didn't have my emerald with me. I tried finding my way back, but I ended up going deeper into the forest." The ebony hedgehog began, Amy listening with her ears perked up. "As I was walking, I came here and I immediately started liking this place. I spent some time in here, but I knew that I had to get out of the forest before night time. And so, after a few hours, I finally found my way out. I am familiar with this forest now though. Even if I don't have my chaos emerald, I will still be able to find it."
"Oh... Well I am glad that I decided to find out more about you Shadow." Amy said, not realizing what she was saying. The black and red hedgehog looked at her with confusion shown clearly in his scarlet eyes.
"What do you mean?" Shadow questioned, seeing Amy freeze before she turned around to look at him with wide eyes. Should I tell him everything? Maybe I should. I mean, it's not something bad. The pink hedgehog thought, nodding her head mentally.
"Well, I guess I'll start from the beginning." The pink hedgehog said, watching one of Shadow's eyebrows raise up. "You see... I, well remember how I stopped chasing Sonic? Yeah, on the same day I ran into you in the park, remember?" She saw Shadow nod his head and then continued. "I decided right there when you left that I would get to know you better."
"Oh," He said simply, turning away from her and he looked at a squirrel sitting by his feet. Smiling slightly, he reached out and stroked its head gently. Amy gaped, not really believing her eyes. How had that squirrel let him touch it but not her?
"After that, remember how I followed you and told you that I thought that you were Sonic? I was just using that as an excuse to talk to you and find out why you are the way you are." Amy wondered if that made sense, but she went on anyway. "I started liking you Shadow and that's why I wanted to be your friend. That is all." She finished, thinking to herself: I am in love with you now... When Shadow didn't say anything and kept stroking the squirrel's fur, she frowned. "Shadow, are you mad at me?" This time he looked up in confusion.
"Why would I be angry?" Shadow asked, letting go of the squirrel as it rushed off. The pink hedgehog shrugged, smiling sheepishly.
"I dunno." Amy answered, seeing him shake his head and grin. He then walked over to her and, with a bit of hesitation, pulled her in a hug. Amy's eyes nearly popped out of her sockets as her mouth hung open in shock.
"I'm glad you did what you did, Rose." Shadow whispered softly, hugging her tighter. Amy smiled when she realized what was happening and then wrapped her arms around him. She couldn't believe it! Shadow the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog who rarely liked anyone was hugging her! "That is the reason why I am your friend and not lonely. I should be thanking you." He murmured, his voice holding a little bit of emotion.
"Oh Shadow! I'm really happy that you are my friend too!" The pink hedgehog replied, feeling his hands on her waist and that made her face turn crimson. He said nothing and neither did she. Amy tightened her grip and just enjoyed the hug, knowing that this was her only chance to have him in her arms. After a few minutes, Shadow pulled away, causing Amy to also move back.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-" The ebony hedgehog began, but got cut off by Amy, who shook her head.
"Don't. You have done nothing wrong, Shadow." She said, watching him smile before it disappeared quickly. Amy frowned, wondering what he was thinking. Shrugging it off, she pulled out her phone from the little bag she had brought along with her and looked at the time. "Oh, it's already 12:00pm! I guess time flies when you're having fun! Let's eat something, and then you can take me somewhere else."
"Ok, that's fine with me." Shadow shrugged and took out his green emerald. He grabbed Amy's hand and was about to shout 'chaos control' when the pink female stopped him.
"Wait! I wanna say goodbye to this place!" She exclaimed, causing Shadow to roll his eyes playfully, but he nodded at her. "Ok... Goodbye beautiful forest! Me and Shadow will come here again soon! Alright, I'm ready." Amy smiled, turning around to face him.
"You're one strange girl." Shadow muttered, and instead of looking offended, the petite hedgehog looked like she had just been complimented as she smiled brightly.
"Thanks!" Amy grinned, the ebony hedgehog rolling his eyes as he held her hand. She felt her face flush red and then looked at him. "Why do you hold my hand?" She asked curiously.
"Would you rather I don't?" Shadow let go of her hand, but Amy grabbed it. He gave her a confused face, but she only smiled.
"That's not what I meant. Let's go now; I'm really hungry. I didn't eat my breakfast." Amy said, holding on to his hand as he smiled just a little and chaos controlled them out of the forest.
xXx
Amy decided that they would eat something else because she knew that Shadow had probably got bored of pizza, she had to admit that she had too. They were now sitting in a restaurant, the menus being held in their hands as they thought of what they would like to eat.
"Rose, what are you ordering?" Shadow asked, placing the menu down from his hand. Amy looked up from her bangs and smiled.
"Well, I am going to be ordering beef burger." The pink hedgehog replied, seeing Shadow sigh as he reached for the menu. "You should order the same thing, burgers are really delicious!"
"Alright." He said simply, looking at the people in the restaurant as a waiter walked over to them. They were sitting in one of the tables at the back where they were away from the other people.
"Miss, what would you like?" The waiter asked, smiling at the rosy female. She returned the smile and crossed her hands on the table.
"I'll have a beef burger with a can of coke please." Amy answered, glancing at Shadow as he leaned back in his chair.
"And what would you-" The waiter turned to face Shadow, and when he did, his eyes widened as he froze in his place. "L-like k-k-k-k-ind s-sir." He stuttered, causing Shadow to glare at him. Amy held back a giggle. These people were obviously afraid of her black and red friend.
"Bring me beef burger with coke." Shadow ordered, the waiter bowing slightly before rushing off.
"Shaddy, you certainly have a way with humans." Amy giggled, seeing Shadow smirk. The waiter appeared a few minutes later, placed their order on the table, and then walked away quickly. Shadow picked up his burger, stared at it and then took a bite. The pink hedgehog laughed. "So, how does it taste?"
"Not bad." He said, stuffing the burger in his mouth like no tomorrow. Amy was about to say something else, when something blue caught her attention. She turned around, her eyes widening as she did so. SONIC had just entered the restaurant and was looking around. She was sure that he would spot them and come over, and then Shadow would leave as he didn't like Sonic, meaning everything would have to end here.
"Shadow," The pink female said, grabbing Shadow's attention. She stood up and motioned for him to do the same. He did. "Grab your burger and coke." She instructed as she grabbed her own one.
"Rose, what are you-" Shadow began but got cut off by Amy who shook her head and waved her index finger.
"Shadow, please do whatever I say." Amy said, the ebony hedgehog shooting her a look that said, 'Have you gone crazy', but did what he was told anyway. "Now, chaos control us out of here."
"What?! What is going on?" The black and red striped hedgehog asked, seeing Amy sigh and roll her eyes.
"Please, just do it. I'll tell you when we're out of here." She said hurriedly, glancing behind her, and then quickly turning back to him. "Give me your coke." He did, and then took out the green chaos emerald. The world seemed to move in slow motion as Shadow's lips slowly parted to utter the words which were not going to get them out in time. She looked behind her and saw Sonic slowly start to turn his face in their direction. Closing her eyes, she opened them a second later to see that they were in that forest Shadow and her had been in earlier. Looking to her side, she saw the ebony hedgehog give her a confused face.
"Just what was that all about Rose?" He asked, and then took a bite off of his burger. Amy sighed in relief and handed him his can of coke.
"Sonic was there... He would have seen us if you hadn't chaos controlled us out of the restaurant." The petite girl hedgehog explained, before sitting down near the river and crossing her legs.
"Hmm, shouldn't you have been happy?" Shadow questioned again, finding her behaviour to be strange.
"Not today. You would leave if he came over, and I wanna spend my time today with you only, I don't want anyone else to cut in through the fun that we are having." Amy replied, and since she had already finished eating her burger, she looked at him. "Finish your food and then take us to your other favourite places."
"Okay," he said, before finishing his food and drinking his coke. He then nodded at Amy. "Come on, I have one more place to show you. Wait; is it ok if we go there at night? It's not that great during the day."
"Yeah, that's fine." Amy answered, shrugging her shoulders, although Shadow's request made her curious. "What should we do then?"
"Why don't you go and spend the afternoon with the faker? I will come there for you at 7:00pm and then take you to that place." Shadow suggested, the pink hedgehog considering the thought.
"I don't know... Do you have any other place to take me to?" Amy asked hopefully, seeing him shake his head. "Alright, I'll just go to Sonic then. But don't forget about me ok?"
Shadow smirked, before he said, "Don't worry, I won't forget you."
"What are you gonna do when I am with Sonic?" Amy questioned again, watching the ebony hedgehog shrug his shoulders.
"Nothing." He said, causing Amy to frown. Shadow raised an eyebrow, wondering why she was frowning. "What's wrong?'
"Doing nothing is boring! I will stay with you then." The rosy girl hedgehog said, Shadow shaking his head.
"No, you go with faker. I will try to find one of the chaos emeralds; I think I know where the red one is." The black and red hedgehog said, taking out his chaos emerald. "Come on, I will chaos control you outside of Tails' workshop."
"Shadow, why do you want me to hang out with Sonic?" Amy asked, and when she saw him look at her in confusion, she shrugged. "I mean we could always go to one of my favourite places."
"I know, but I don't want to get in the way of your 'relationship'. Don't you want to see your precious Sonikku?" Shadow questioned in return, causing Amy to sigh.
"Yeah, I guess you're right." She frowned, an image of the azure hedgehog popping in her head. She knew that Sonic was probably really upset that she had refused to spend the day with him. Shadow stood beside her, causing her to snap out of her thoughts as she looked at him. He held her hand, a small shiver running through her spine at the feeling.
"Chaos control..."
xXx
"Ames, why do you keep looking at the clock? Do you have to go somewhere?" Sonic asked, a small frown on his mouth. Snapping out of her thoughts, Amy smiled at the blue hedgehog.
"Yeah... So, what were you saying?" The pink hedgehog questioned, hoping to change the subject. She wasn't really sure if he would be happy if he found out that she was waiting for Shadow.
"It doesn't matter... Tell me, where are you going?" Sonic asked, refusing to let the subject go. A frown formed on his face as the picture of a certain ebony hedgehog popped in his mind. He knew that it had something to do with Shadow.
"If you must know, I am waiting for Shadow. He's taking me somewhere." Amy answered, watching his frown deepen.
"Why? Where is he taking you at this time of the night?" The azure male asked again, his eyes narrowing in confusion.
"Why does it matter Sonic? He's just taking me out to dinner." She lied, not knowing if telling the truth to Sonic would be a good idea. She didn't really understand why she lied though; they weren't plotting anything against him. Yeah, but Shadow is going to take me to a place I've never seen before. Sonic might get worried. He doesn't 'trust' Shadow. He probably is going to think that Shadow is going to kill me or something. Amy thought, rolling her eyes mentally.
"Aren't I supposed to do that?" Sonic frowned, a hint of jealousy in his voice. Amy didn't know if she should find it cute that Sonic was jealous or feel annoyed. Before she could say anything though, there was a green flash as Shadow stood in the middle of the room.
"Hey Amy, you can-" Tails walked in the room, before stopping in his tracks as he stared wide-eyed at the ebony hedgehog.
"Rose, are you ready to go?" Shadow ignored the stares and the glares from a certain cobalt hedgehog he was getting and focused on Amy instead.
"Yes, I was ready half an hour ago." Amy giggled, Sonic frowning as he looked between them. Why was Amy acting so weird these days? Was it just him or did the others notice it too? "Bye Tails, goodbye Sonic." She walked over to him and planted a quick kiss on his cheek. She didn't feel anything which was very strange. She always felt something when she touched Sonic, but now... That feeling was gone. Did it have something to do with Shadow?
"Ames, can't you stay with us for the night? We could watch a horror movie, just you, me and Tails." Sonic questioned, watching her shake her head.
"Maybe another time, I've promised Shadow to go with him to dinner." She was about to ask them if they wanted to come as well, but then she decided that she wouldn't ask them that. Everything would just be awkward instead of fun. As she was thinking about that, she wasn't aware of Sonic glaring daggers at Shadow who returned it with his glaring crimson orbs that had captured Amy's heart. She blushed when she thought about Shadow that way, but she also couldn't help but feel guilty because she didn't like Sonic the way she used to. She had to tell him soon, she couldn't just lead him on like that. I wish I still loved you like before... Why did you have to realize your feelings? Amy thought, a sad frown on her face. This was crazy. When she was in love with Sonic, he didn't like her like that. And now that he loved her, she had moved on to Shadow who probably didn't like her that way.
"Rose?" Shadow questioned, bringing the pink hedgehog out of her thoughts. Amy glanced at Sonic to see that he was frowning and staring at the ground. Tails was just standing there awkwardly, before he walked out of the room.
"Let's go." She said, moving to stand next to him. Shadow held up the chaos emerald, and as he was about to say the words, Sonic looked up and locked his eyes with Amy's. There was so much emotion in his olive green eyes that instantly made Amy feel guilty about leaving him alone.
"Have fun Ames." The azure male said, smiling softly. His eyes, there was something different about them. Before Amy could say something back, Shadow chaos controlled them, the blue hedgehog disappearing before her eyes.
xXx
"Shadow, is this where you used to live?" Amy asked as she walked on the roof of a huge house, trailing her eyes around the place. She then spun around to face the ebony hedgehog who nodded his head.
"Yes it is. What do you think?" Shadow questioned in return, seeing the rosy female smile brightly.
"Oh it's beautiful Shadow! I see why you liked it here now." Amy replied, walking to the edge of the roof and closing her eyes as the gentle wind lifted up her quills. Shadow walked over to her and crossed his arms across his chest as he studied her. A small smile formed on his face, his crimson orbs trailing around her face. He then sat down and let his right leg dangle over the edge of the roof while the other one was raised up, his left arm resting on his leg. Opening her eyes, the pink hedgehog sat down beside him, letting her feet hang over the edge like his. "What are you thinking about?" Amy asked, tilting her head as she stared at him. He turned his face to her.
"Nothing..." Shadow replied, sighing as he looked up at the stars. Amy frowned, wondering what was wrong with him. It looked like something was troubling him. As she opened her mouth to say something, he looked at her and smiled. "Are you hungry? I bought some food." He said, causing Amy to raise her eyebrows before she looked around them. The ebony hedgehog got up, walked to the end of the roof and then came back with two pizza boxes in his hands.
"Shaddy, you really didn't have t-" Amy began but cut off by Shadow who shook his head.
"I didn't know what else you liked, so I just went to that pizza shop me and you went and then bought these." The black and red striped hedgehog said, sitting down next to her. Amy smiled as he opened the lids and placed one of the boxes beside her.
"Thanks Shadow." She said, not knowing what else to say. He only smirked and then both hedgehogs began eating. They didn't speak, not really knowing what to say. After they had finished their pizza, and had drank their coke that Shadow had also bought, Shadow grabbed the empty boxes and then threw them over the roof and onto the street below. "Shadow, you can't do that!" Amy exclaimed as she gasped.
"I think I just did." Shadow said with a little smirk, watching the pink female roll her eyes with a smile.
"No silly! It's not good to throw stuff on the street." Amy told him, but he didn't seem interested in what she was saying.
"Well, I do it all the time. Do you see the stars?" The ebony male asked, looking up at the dark sky. The stars looked like little white dots across the clear sky. Amy also glanced up and let a big smile cross her lips. This place was just as beautiful as the forest. She couldn't help but think that it was also a very romantic place...
"It's so wonderful here. You have some very nice places to go to, Shadow." Amy smiled at the feeling of the wind through her quills and how the stars shone above them. She turned to look at Shadow and saw him staring at her. He quickly turned his face around, and Amy wasn't really sure, but... Were his cheeks red?
"Yes I do. If you're tired you can go back to your house." He said, turning his face back to her. She narrowed her jade green eyes as she focused on his muzzle but there was no red on his cheeks. She frowned, thinking that maybe her eyes had been playing tricks on her.
"What are you going to do?" Amy asked, seeing him shrug a little. She raised an eyebrow as she waited for him to respond.
"I will stay here and watch the stars." Shadow said after a few seconds, the pink hedgehog scooting closer to him.
"Well in that case I will also stay here. With you..." The petite hedgehog said, resting her head on his shoulder. "This place has such a nice view." She commented, feeling an arm wrap around her shoulders. Turning her head to the side, she saw Shadow's hand. Smiling, she snuggled into him and let her eyes close.
"Rose, are you going to sleep?" Shadow questioned, Amy immediately lifting up her head and looking up at him. He glanced down at her with his soft crimson orbs.
"No..." She replied, her jade green orbs locking with his scarlet red eyes. They stayed like that for a few minutes, before Shadow unconsciously leaned forward to her. He raised his right hand and stroked her cheek softly. Amy stayed frozen in her place as she stared at him with wide eyes. He was so close to her that she thought that he was going to kiss her. He leaned even more and the rosy female's eyes fluttered close as she felt his warm breath blow on her face. Oh my God! Oh my God! He's gonna kiss me! He really is! Does that mean he likes me? She thought, desperately wanting him to place his lips over hers. Just as she thought that he was going to kiss her, she felt him move away. Her eyes snapped open as she frowned deeply. Shadow was sitting back in his place with his face looking up at the sky. "Shadow?"
"There was something on your face." He said, resting his hand on his knee. "It's late, we should be going." The ebony hedgehog added, his voice a little cold. Amy's frown deepened as she tried to figure out what was wrong with him.
"You're right." The pink girl hedgehog stood up, seeing him also stand up. Shadow's face was emotionless as he stood next to her. He held out the emerald, and Amy noticed something. He didn't hold her hand. She tried stopping a frown from forming on her face, but she didn't succeed.
"Chaos control..."
xXx
Staring at the ceiling blankly, Amy let out a loud sigh. The day had gone very well except for the last bit where Shadow acted really cold towards her. She wondered what had happened to him. He was perfectly normal before that. Letting out another long sign, she turned on her side and frowned. She had this feeling that something would happen soon... She had no idea when or what but the knot in her stomach told her so.
"Nothing is gonna happen. You are just being stupid Amy." The pink female told herself, gulping the lump in her throat. Heaving another sigh, she closed her eyes, hoping to get a good night's sleep...
xXx
Shadow sat up on his bed and ran a hand through his quills. He didn't know what had happened to him. He just wasn't his old self anymore. Yawning, he got off of the bed and walled to the balcony inside his room. Sliding the door open, he went inside and looked up at the dark blue sky. Amy's face came before his vision and he immediately frowned. He had been harsh to her on the roof... He shouldn't have been.
"She looked so confused. So upset..." The ebony hedgehog trailed off, staring at the stars. It had been a few days that whenever he saw Amy, was near here or touched her, he got this really strange feeling inside of him. His stomach seemed to twist and turn and his heartbeat quickened. What? Just what was going on? He even got the strange urge to kiss her on the roof! Frowning, he could only wonder what the cause of that was. Whatever it was, he didn't like it. Not one bit.
So... What do you think? Does Shadow have feelings for a certain pink hedgehog? What is going to happen next? Well, I know what'll happen in the next chapter! You guys have to review for me if you want to know! Review! Thanks!
Oh and before I forget, I have a joke for you guys! So... *Clears throat* What is a vampires' favourite snack? Do have a go at answering!
Again, review!
-Amy
BTW: Do you guys like long or short chapters? There are some people who prefer long chapters but some that like short ones.
