Chapter 25
A few weeks later...
It was an unusually sunny day. The sky was free of clouds and the sun shone brightly down on earth. Birds sang happily while they built nests for themselves on tree branches.
The quiet atmosphere however was broken when suddenly, the door of a house burst open, and out came running a pink blur followed by a black and red one.
"Rose, come back here!" Shadow roared, chasing after the pink hedgehog who squealed and forced her legs to run faster. She looked over her shoulder to see a soaking wet Shadow inches away from her.
"Shadow! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to throw water on you when you were sleeping! I swear it was an accident!" Amy yelled, running around the flowers in her small garden.
"Yes, I'm sure it was an accident... Is that why you had a bucket in your hands?" He asked, letting her know that she hadn't fooled him one bit.
Amy didn't respond. Instead, she looked back to see how close the ebony hedgehog was to her, but was surprised to see that he was nowhere to be seen. Stopping, she looked around, wondering where he could have disappeared off to. Just as she turned her head to look forward, she nearly got a heart attack when she saw the hedgehog she had been looking for.
"Ahhh!" Amy screamed in surprise, cupping a hand over her mouth afterwards. Shadow smirked and started walking closer to her, causing her to walk backwards. Water still dripped down his body while his ears twitched a little. He resisted the urge to sneeze and walked even closer to her. "Sh-Shadow..."
"Hmmm?" The black and red hedgehog hummed, and before Amy could blink, she was lying down on the grass with Shadow on top of her.
"Shadow, wh-what are y-you doing?" Amy managed to stutter out, her green eyes widening as they followed Shadow's movements.
Shadow simply smirked again and placed his hands on the sensitive parts of her waist. He stared at her red face for a few seconds, before he started tickling her uncontrollably. Amy immediately burst into laughter and tried to slap his hands away.
"Hahaha! S-stop! Shadow! Hahahahahahaha!" Amy pushed his hands away but he wouldn't let her go that easily.
"No Rose, you need to be punished for waking me up!" Shadow grinned down at her flustered face, laughing when he saw a pout forming on her lips.
"I told you it was an accident!" Amy protested, thinking that he had stopped with his 'punishment'. When she felt his hands on her waist again, she gasped. "Shadow, don't you dare-hahahahaha!"
Shadow smirked and ticked her harder, causing her to squirm in his hold. He looked down at her face and felt his lips form a happy smile. 'I am very lucky to have someone like her as my girlfriend.' He thought to himself, trailing his red orbs around her face. Her eyes were shut tight while tears ran down her cheeks. The gentle wind lifted up her pink quills and pushed her bangs away softly.
His tickling became slower and softer as he glanced down at her mouth, her giggles causing his heart to flutter around in his chest. She was the only girl who made him feel like that. The tickles stopped as he stared at her, almost like he was in a trance.
Amy slowly opened her eyes, wondering why he had stopped tickling her. She bit her lip and tried to control the rush of warmth that traveled to her muzzle, but it was impossible not to blush around him. Especially with the way he was looking at her.
"Shadow?" She asked softly, feeling her heart pump faster in her chest. When he didn't move, she lightly touched his cheek. "Shadow, are you ok?"
"Huh?" Shadow snapped out of his daze, rolling off of her with a small tint of red on his muzzle. Amy's eyes widened as she looked at the ebony hedgehog. Was he blushing? 'No way!' She thought, and when she looked at him, she couldn't see any hint of red on his muzzle.
"Shadow, what's the matter? You're starting to worry me now." Amy said gently, placing her hand over his. Shadow looked down at her hand, before looking up at her with a small, but genuine smile.
"Amy... I..." Shadow began, watching Amy's ears perk up curiously. "I want you to know that I... That I've never felt like this before. What I mean is, you are very special. YOU are the only girl to ever make me feel what I feel for you... YOU are the first and last girl I will ever love..."
Amy's eyes were filled up with tears as she listened intently to Shadow's confession. She knew he had never experienced love before, so it must be hard for him to tell her that he loves her. The word 'love' coming out of his mouth still made her stomach churn and butterflies fly around wildly.
"Shadow..." Amy said with a soft smile, running her hand through his curved quills. "I know that you care for me deeply and that you love me..." She blushed, stroking his cheek lovingly. "I love you too Shadow, and I always will."
Both hedgehogs sat there awkwardly, but then Shadow decided to make the first move. He grabbed her waist and pulled her into his chest, smirking when he heard her squeak in surprise. He used his other hand to run his fingers through her soft hair, enjoying the way she shivered at his touch.
In return, Amy wrapped both of her arms around his neck, blushing softly at the contact. Shadow dipped his head and leaned in close to her, while Amy looked up and let her eyes close. His warm breath tickled her lips as he inched closer and closer to her awaiting mouth.
Not being able to wait any longer, Shadow closed the distance between them with a sweet kiss. After a few seconds of kissing each other softly, Shadow decided to take it to the next level. He licked her lower lip then bit on it softly, causing Amy to gasp and give him permission to enter.
When they started running out of air, both of them pulled back. Shadow smirked at her and stroked her cheek with his thumb softly, whereas Amy blushed and looked down.
"Come on, you must be hungry. Let's go get some breakfast." Amy smiled, watching as Shadow jumped up to his feet and offered her a hand. She accepted it and let him pull her up. They intertwined their hands and slowly made their way inside the house.
xXx
Sonic watched the couple leave, a small but genuine smile forming on his lips at the sight of them holding hands. He had to admit, they looked good together...
Sighing, he wondered why he had eavesdropped on their conversation again. Well, he just couldn't help himself! He thought back to how he had ended up at Amy's house...
*Flashback*
Sonic ran through the Mystic Ruins, letting the wind carry him wherever it wanted to. Ever since the night he had found out that Amy and Shadow loved each other, he had a hard time eating and sleeping and he wasn't his usual cheerful self. Tails had been very worried about him, but Sonic had said that he was perfectly fine.
It wasn't that he was lovesick or anything... No. He was just surprised at how things went. He had always thought that Amy would always love HIM, so you can imagine how shocked he was to see her with Shadow...
Shaking his head to get rid of thoughts about the pink hedgehog, Sonic was surprised to find himself standing in front of her house. His heart broke at the sight of the lively house before him, knowing just who Amy was probably cuddling with right now...
His thoughts were broken by the sound of the door bursting open. Thinking quickly, Sonic ducked behind the nearest tree, hoping that he wouldn't be seen.
"Rose, come back here!"
Sonic's eyes narrowed. 'Shadow?' He thought, peeking out from behind the tree.
*End of flashback*
That's how he got the idea of spying on them... Because he was curious as to why Shadow was yelling...
Brushing a leaf off of his shoulder, Sonic emerged from his hiding place, looking at the house once more before speeding off. He loved Amy... He always had but needed a push to admit it.
"Eh, I can't be thinking about Amy like that anymore. She's just a close friend now..." Sonic stopped his mouth from forming a frown and forced a smile instead. "Besides, it's not like Amy is the only girl in the world... There are loads of girls around every corner!"
Just as he rounded a corner, he ran straight into someone. His green eyes widened as he looked at the girl that he had just knocked on the ground. She was a purple hedgehog with shoulder length hair and a pair of green eyes that instantly reminded Sonic of Amy.
"Ugh, why don't people watch where they're going?" The girl muttered, slowly picking herself up from the floor.
"Sorry," Sonic said with a sheepish grin, holding his hand out to her. She looked up with a scowl and was about to snap at him when she realized who had just bumped into her.
"Oh my GOD!" The girl squealed, her pupils almost turning into hearts. "SONIC the HEDGEHOG! Ahhh!"
Sonic sweat-dropped, and was about to pull his hand away but she grabbed it which forced him to pull her up. "I'm sorry for running into you like that-"
"Don't worry! It was nothing! You can bump into me again anytime you want!" She winked, jumping up and down in excitement. "Sonic! Omigod, I still can't believe you are actually standing right in front of me! I love you soooooo much! You are my hero!" The girl squealed, grabbing him in a death grip.
"Hehe," Sonic chuckled nervously while two more sweat-drops formed on his head. He had to admit that this girl reminded him a lot of Amy though...
"My name is Ashley!" She winked again, pulling away and blushing softly. "This is a dream! Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! Ooh, I know! How about we-"
"Sorry, maybe another time!" Sonic said, glad that she had let him go so he could make a run for it. Ashley's face showed confusion before it turned to horror as she watched him run off.
"No! Sonic! Wait for me!" With that said, she followed the blue trail in an attempt to catch up to Sonic.
'So, there really is a girl around every corner!' Sonic thought to himself with a sweat-drop.
xXx
Amy giggled as Shadow scooped her up in his arms. He smirked down at her and then broke in a run towards the park. When they reached their destination, he let her stand up on her own feet.
Smiling up at him, Amy quickly pecked his lips before holding his hand and guiding him to a more quieter area. They sat down on the soft grass and just enjoyed each other's company before Amy decided to break the silence.
"Shadow, let's play 20 questions!" Amy said with a smile. Shadow turned to look at her in confusion.
"20 questions? What's that?" Shadow asked, sounding oddly interested. Amy grinned and moved to put her head on his lap. Shadow chuckled and ran his fingers through her hair.
"Basically, what we have to do is: we take turns asking each other questions until we've reached 20. Oh and both of us have to answer each question. Ready?" Amy asked with a smile, seeing her boyfriend nod his head.
"Sure, anything for you Rose." Shadow smirked when he saw her blush slightly.
"Alright then, I'll go first. What is your favourite... Um... Food?" Amy asked, playing with Shadow's hand as she waited for him to answer.
"Pizza." Shadow answered immediately, causing her to smile.
"My favourite food is pizza too... It's your turn now." Amy sat up and crossed her legs. Shadow left one of his legs stretched out while he pulled the other one up to his chest.
"What is your favourite weather?" He asked after a minute, raising an eyebrow.
"That's easy, I like the sun." Amy replied, then rolled onto her stomach and used her elbows and hands to hold up her head.
"I like the rain..." Shadow trailed off, watching as Amy's eyes widened in surprise.
"Seriously? Why do you like the rain?" The pink hedgehog questioned, looking confused.
"I just do." Shadow shrugged. "So that was your question-"
"No! That wasn't my question." Amy said, giggling. "Ok, so... Do you like insects?" She was expecting to hear Shadow say no so she was surprised when he simply shrugged.
"I don't like insects but I don't hate them either." Shadow smiled at Amy who's eyes widened.
"What!? I HATE insects! Remember that time I followed you in the forest and this huge spider crawled up my arm?!" Amy shuddered at the memory, hearing the ebony hedgehog next to her chuckle quietly.
"How could I forget? You were so amusing that day..." Shadow chuckled, causing the pink hedgehog to cross her arms and pout.
"Whatever, it's your turn now. We've done 3 questions so far." Amy smiled, nodding at the darker hedgehog.
"Alright. What is your favourite colour?" Shadow asked.
"You already know my answer. I mean, both of us have answered this question before." Amy replied, rolling her eyes playfully.
Shadow shrugged. "That was a long time ago... I don't remember. Your favourite colour could have changed for all I know."
"Fine, my favourite colour is red." She smiled at him sweetly, looking deep in his captivating crimson eyes.
"And mine is green..." Shadow gave her a small smirk, gazing into her beautiful jade green eyes.
"Wait a minute! I though you liked the colour red." Amy's face showed confusion. She blushed when she felt his hand stroke here softly.
"Yeah, but I like green now." Shadow gave her a small smile and tucked a few loose strands of hair away from her face.
"Why?" Amy couldn't help but ask, thinking that maybe it had something to do with her with the way he was staring at her so intently.
Shadow leaned towards her and looked right in her widened jade orbs. "Simple... Because your eyes are green." His comment made her muzzle turn even darker and just as they were about to kiss, Amy noticed something blue from the corner of her eye. Shadow must have noticed it too because he turned his head in that direction.
'Sonic?' Amy thought to herself, immediately feeling a stab of guilt in her heart. It wasn't like they were going out and she was cheating on him or anything, but she still couldn't help herself from feeling guilty.
They watched as the blue hero skidded to a halt in front of them with wide eyes. "Uh..."
"Good morning Sonic!" Amy greeted him cheerfully, planting a bright smile on her face. Shadow simply nodded his head at the cobalt hedgehog.
"Hey Ames!" Sonic responded with his signature smile, before turning to the ebony hedgehog and nodding his head too. Amy looked between the two but was happy that they weren't arguing or fighting.
"How are you Sonic?" Amy asked, tilting her head to the side a little. She looked at him intently to see if he looked upset but to her surprise, he actually looked like his normal self.
"Great! Uh, listen I gotta go!" Sonic gave her another smile and a thumbs up, then nervously looked back to see the same purple hedgehog from earlier running towards him. With his green eyes widening, he immediately sprinted off.
"No! Sonic, wait up!" Ashley called out, running after him. Amy and Shadow exchanged glances before both of them burst out laughing.
"Gee, who does she remind you of?" Shadow asked with a smirk, causing Amy to glare at him playfully and punch his shoulder. He pretended to get hurt and clutched his shoulder while he tried to fight off the smirk and winced instead. Amy rolled her eyes with a smile then leaned in.
"So... Where were we?" She asked with a teasing smile, gasping when Shadow scooped her up in his arms and kissed her smooth cheek before moving to her mouth. "I love you Shadow." Amy murmured between kisses.
"I love you too Rose."
So... How was it? I tried to make this last chapter as fluffy as possible, I only hope that I did good and not bad! Anyway, I decided to make an 'entertainment' for Sonic because I felt very bad for him, lol. Just let me know if it was a good idea or if I should just remove the whole scene with Sonic and 'Ashley'.
I can't believe it took me like two years to finish my first story in this site! Urgh! I'm blaming school! :P I am honestly happy that this story is finished and out of the way so I can focus more on my other stories... But I can't help but feel sad! I'm gonna miss writing this story very much! *Cries* :'(
I re-read my story today and the only thought that came to me was: Wow! I've improved in my writing so much! :) I'm thinking of going through this story and fixing any errors and spelling mistakes as well as making the chapters more descriptive and enjoyable to read. That is, if I find any time! Lol.
If you want a sequel, I might do one but I'm not really sure and I don't have any ideas either. Oh well... Please review one last time my dear friends! I love reading your reviews and I love knowing what you all think! I hope none of you are disappointed with the way this story turned out to be! Review please! Thanks! :)
Have a wonderful day guys!
-Amy
BTW: Thanks again to everyone who read/reviewed and stuck with me through the whole story! LOVE YOU ALL! I will be doing a 'thank you' in the next chapter to show you guys how much you all mean to me! Keep an eye out for it! ;) Anyway, enough with my babbling! I'm just so happy and sad at the same time!
