The Unknown Variable

I own nothing. Disney, Marvel and JK claim everything.

Penny's POV

As the scientists all dropped their dishes in shock, Thor ran over greeting them saying,

"My friends!"

At the same time, Tony's voice appeared in my ear.

"Pen, are you there."

"Now's not really a good time." I stated lowly, making sure no one was watching me.

"I just haven't been able to get a hold of you. It got me worried." Dad told me, the small sound of background noise meant he was driving, but right now I something else on my mind.

"I'm alright, just distracted. Things are different down here then I thought…SHIELD's crawling around." I stated.

"Huh, so that's what Fury was talking about." I heard him state. When did he talk to Fury?

"Look, I gotta go…we can talk when I get home." I stated, as the Asgardians walked in.

"Alright…just stay safe." He stated his tone filled with worry.

"Always do." I replied as the com. went silent.

"This is good!" Thor exclaimed after they all embraced, Darcy was staring at all of them in shock, and looked about ready to faint.

"Come one," I stated to the shocked humans. "You seriously can't be that surprised. Unless you thought he was crazy."

As their eyes flickered to mine I couldn't help but laugh. It seemed as if I was right…they did think Thor was crazy, or at least, they had.

"I don't believe it." Selvig muttered, "This is impossible."

"Not impossible," I stated, "Just improbable."

"Do you have a comeback for everything?" Darcy whispered to me, without taking her eyes off of the new comers.

"Excuse us," The first, large man who had called out to Thor said, "the Warriors Three and the Lady Sif." He stated as an introduction.

"My friends," Thor continued, clapping the man on his shoulder, "I've never been happier to see anyone. But you should not have come."

His friends chuckled, as I sat up straighter, something wasn't right. "We're here to take you home."

Thor looked confused, and I knew something was off, "You...you know I can't go home."

"Thor," I said, standing up and walking over to stand next to the still shocked scientists, "hear them out. I may be new to this, but something doesn't seem right."

"Good instincts, this young one has." One of the men, with blonde hair said.

"But…my father is…dead because of me." Thor continued, after looking at me curiously, "and I must remain in exile."

"Thor, your father still lives. The young one is right, something is not right here." Lady Sif stated, causing Thor's eyes to widen in shock.

"What has happened?" Thor asked, not understanding.

"I think," I stated, seeing the looks the new arrivals shared, and Thor, "That you have been misled."

They all stared at me in shock. Lady Sif stepped forward and said, "You are a curious one for a Midgardian. You appear to be human, yet your body and soul are greatly entangled in Death."

Thor opened his mouth to say something, but the Asian appearing man stated, "It is true. You would not have sensed it, old friend, for you are currently mortal."

"And yet," the thin blonde haired man spoke again, "this news does not surprise you."

A small smile appeared on my face as I nodded my head. While I obviously knew why my body was entangled with Death, I hoped that I was just my relationship to Mortem that had my soul entangled as well.

My friends looked at me in curiosity and concern, not understanding what was going on.

"Aye," I nodded, "It is no surprise it me. While the news of my soul being entangled is news to me, I'm not surprised. I should have expected it."

"You," Lady Sif stated, as she walked around me, "are no ordinary mortal."

I smiled sadly and shook my head, no matter how hard I tried, I was never normal.

"I cannot claim I am." I stated, casting a look at my friends.

"Okay, what on earth is going on here?" Selvig exclaimed, "and what are you talking about?"

Just then, thunder shook the sky even though there were no clouds.

I stiffened as I felt a huge surge of power blast through the atmosphere. I ran to the window, the others following, just in time to see a cloud funnel touch down with a blast.

"Was somebody else coming?" Darcy asked, looking quite scared.

I stiffened as I felt the waves of power coming from whoever just appeared on Earth. It was no Asgardian, if my senses were correct. Though the Asgardians had major waves of energy rolling off of them…it was nothing like the ones I could feel from here. The new waves also didn't feel…human…alive…it was…mechanical almost.

"This can't be good." I stated as the five Asgardians exchanged looks. "This really can't be good."

I was right, it wasn't good. As soon as we had gone outside and saw the explosions in the distance, Thor said,

"Jane, you and your friends must leave."

"What are you going to do?" Jane asked.

"I'm staying here." Thor told us, looking around at the towns' people in concern.

"Thor's going to fight with us!" The large, red bearded man exclaimed excitedly.

"My friends, I'm just a man. I'll only be in the way, or worse, get one of you killed." Thor stated, turning towards his friends. "But, I can help get these people to safety."

"I'm on that." I stated as I jumped up on top of a car. Ever grateful that I was wearing my boots.

"Everyone, get out of here immediately! You know strange things have been happening, and trust me, you don't want to be here!" I yelled, a few people recognized me and started to leave. I even recognized Mrs. Hyln with her youngest son.

She nodded at me and started pushing people towards their cars.

"Why should we listen to you?" I turned towards the middle aged man who yelled this, and saw that he was not a local.

"I was the one who was stuck with Stark in Afghanistan for three months. I know danger when I see it. Now, are you going to listen or do we have a problem?" I asked, and it was only then that he realized that I had four scary and weird, looking people behind me, all looking at me in shock.

"Well, if you're staying then so am I." Jane stated as I hopped off the car.

"We'll need time." Thor said, as he tried to lead the others away.

"You'll have it!" The blonde man yelled. Man, why couldn't I remember their names.

"Okay, move it people." Darcy stated to the last few people still wondering the streets.

Thor, Jane, and I ran swiftly through the main part of town, ushering people out back doors and into alleys. Many didn't believe us, but when a loud explosion was heard just outside of town, they ran to the nearest car.

I turned just as the large, metal contraption stepped into town. It was large, about ten, eleven feet, and it was frightening.

"Run Honey!" I heard a mother yell to her small daughter as they raced across the street. My eyes narrowed as the building in front of them exploded.

I threw a shield up around the mother and daughter as The Warriors Three and Lady Sif appeared next to me. Their weapons were out and they looked determined.

"Get out of here, young one. This is no place for mortals. Even if you are a strange one." The large loud man said.

I saw Thor out of the corner of my eye, but I didn't see Jane or the others anywhere. Hopefully, this wouldn't blow my cover.

"I'm not going anywhere." I stated coldly, I was on the side of the street, with a car on either side of me, blocking me from view from everyone but the Asgardians.

Before they could open my mouths I turned to the shadows and stated loudly, "Mortem,"

The shadows twisted and almost instantly, my boyfriend appeared. I hear the Asgardians curse behind me, but I ignored them.

"Can you bring me my suit…one last time?" I asked, Mortem nodded, though he looked conflicted, and instany shadows crawled up around me.

I heard the Asgardians gasp in surprise, as the shadows fell away revieling my metal covered suit.

"Thanks," I said, nodding to him.

Mortem nodded to me and signed Good luck before vanishing.

I flipped down my hood as I turned back to face the Asgardians. They were all standing there is gob smacked awe.

Finally, after a moment of silence, Lady Sif said, "You know the Lord Death?"

I nodded not really surprised that the Asgardians could see him, and turned my attention back towards the large thing that was starting to burn down my town.

"I do, but right now. I'm more concerned with the walking fire blaster that is BURNING DOWN MY TOWN!" I yelled the last part, I stepped out of the shadows, and the few people left in town looked relieved to see me.

While the Asgardians were capable and legendary warriors, these people knew me…or at least of me, so they were happy to see me.

"Electra's come to play." I stated coldly, as Jarvis analyzed the thing opposing us. "For the last time."

Quietly I stated, "Oh, and Jar, don't tell my father."

I heard the AI sigh but replied, "Of course, Miss Penny."

It was time to kick some alien butt.

Hehe, oh the next chapter's going to be fun. XD this really is her final act as Electra…so sad, is it not?

Okay, just so you know, if my updates aren't as regular it is because School has started back up (today was/is my first day back and stuff...) it shouldn't effect it too badly this week...yeah...just wanted to give you all a heads up.

I will still be updating regularly though...just not sure how long daily will last...if that makes sense. Bye-bye summer...:(

Vote on my pole, thanks to everyone.
