Episode 7: Assault
Scene 1
Mrs. Lindinstine stepped up to Jayce and Sorbo. "Now I know you two have a little bit of history but we have a very important case to work on here." -Mrs. Lindinstine. Sorbo looked down at Jayce's belt. "Where's your gun belt, little Jayce?" -Sorbo. "I left it back at the cleaners. One gun is enough for me." -Jayce. Every Hunter in the building was watching intently as this stare down went on. Sorbo nodded in false agreement. "Six shots that's really some aim you claim to have. But lets say you land every shot on this Hybrid, every shot hits in the face. It won't be enough. That's why I carry this." -Sorbo. He pulled the claymore off of his back and held it out to the side. "See the only way to make sure a Hybrid is dead, really dead. Is to chop it up into little pieces." -Sorbo. "Are you compensating for something?" -Jayce. Sorbo started laughing, it was a deep laugh that left everyone unsure of whether it was real or not. "That's why I like you little Jayce, you have a sharp tongue." -Sorbo.
Sorbo motioned to his team to go upstairs. "You guys have a fifth floor right.?" -Sorbo. "Um, yes of course we do." -Mrs. Lindinstine. "Good it's ours now." -Sorbo. He flashed his gold badge to Mrs. Lindinstine. It didn't matter what they wanted Gold rank Hunters are basically not held by the same laws as everyone else. Even a Patron like Mrs. Lindinstine cannot force them out of where ever they decide to station themselves. "We will need the case file and everything else you have on this Hybrid. DNA, photographs, last known locations, alias', known associates, all that jazz." -Sorbo. "You will have access to everything we have on this, the task force will be up and -" -Mrs. Lindinstine. "No, task force. This is our case now and I only need one extra hand, a driver. I hear you guys have an excellent Hunter here, real first class kinda guy." -Sorbo. "Our best Hunter is Hunter Argeris." -Mrs. Lindinstine. "That's perfect, I'll take him." -Sorbo. Sorbo took the keys from his pocket and put them on the desk next to Jayce. "Welcome to the task force." -Sorbo. Sorbo walked across the floor and got into the elevator.
Jayce glared at Mrs. Lindinstine. "What?! I can't do anything, he's gold rank." -Mrs. Lindinstine. Jayce picked up the keys. "Oh I'll drive that car, right into the freaking ocean!" -Jayce. He walked out of the base and saw the jeep parked right in front of the Base in a no parking zone. Jayce ran at the jeep and kicked the passenger door. The door was left with a huge dent and the air bags deployed. Then muttering under his breath Jayce got in and drove the jeep out of the area. Jayce had better things to do than be their driver, so he drove the jeep back to his apartment. He left the jeep in the parking lot with the keys in the ignition and the door open. When he got to his apartment Selene was surprisingly still here. "I need to ask you something." -Selene. "Okay but first, I need my big gun." -Jayce. Selene took the gun off the bed and offered it to Jayce, he took it and shoved it into his utility belt. "Now what did you want? You can't be hungry again already can you?" -Jayce. "No I'm not hungry. I want you to go with me to see Eve, my daughter." -Selene.
"Is this the same daughter that slaughtered my friends and left them to rot? I don't think I'm too keen on meeting her." -Jayce. "She need to see that you and I can work together, that there is still hope for us to slip away." -Selene. "There will be no slipping away Selene. Not anymore. Your daughter started a war and now the soldiers are pouring in getting ready for battle. My only suggestion is that you stay inside and away from the public. Your picture is up on every wall, TV channel and local internet page." -Jayce. "I'm going to go see my daughter, but I need your help to find her exact location. Now either you can come with me or I will go alone, you can't stop me." -Selene. Jayce walked to the bathroom and looked down out the hole in the wall. From here he could see the restaurant he eats at and the shops lining the street. One of the stores caught was exactly what he was looking for. "Okay fine but you wait here for now I'll be back and we can go find your psycho daughter." -Jayce. He started to leave. "What about your other guns?" -Selene. "We will get those too, just remind me, I tend to focus on one task at a time." -Jayce. He left the apartment.
Scene 2
Eve slumped out of her cabin and slowly made her way up to the captain's quarters. In this room there was a pull out cot which Stephan slept on. He was not allowed down below because he could be mistaken for a fresh meal. Eve sat down on the captain's chair and woke Stephan up with only her presence. With only a turn of her head Eve could see the freighter on the other side of the beach just resting there in the water. Stephan got up and was about to leave to give her space when Eve called him back. "I need you to go send a message to the Lycans. Take my car, tell them that I want them here. Tell them to bring any swimming gear they may have." -Eve. Eve reached into her pocket and tossed her keys to Stephan. Although at this point he could easily take the expensive car and get out of Krystal City, there was something more. A fascination with these creatures that had once only been a subject on the news to him. Or was it the fact that they needed him. With all their power and prestige they couldn't kill him because they needed someone immune to the sun.
Stephan took the red Ferrari and drove away from the docks towards the water purification plant. Eve kept her eyes fixed on the large freighter. She was thinking about the super Lycan and wondering why he was on the boat as a look out in the first place. What kind of company hires a super Lycan to survey their boat? Was he the only one? He had said that she had never seen another like him, did that mean that there were others besides the original experiment at Antigen over fifteen years ago. Eve tapped her claws against the control panel of her ship. "Were gonna roll out the welcome mat for you." -Eve.
Scene 3
When Jayce returned to his apartment he had a blonde wig in a bag. "You must be joking?" -Selene. "If we go out with you like this you'll be found out instantly, especially considering I need to stop at that building next to the base. You know where you lost my guns and misplaced your clothes." -Jayce. Selene took the bag away from Jayce. It had more than just a wig in it. It also had a green T-shirt in it that had the words, 'Have a sunny day' written along the front. Selene held up the shirt and stared at it like it was imbued with toxic powers. Beneath that was a thin beach skirt designed for a fresh summer day at the beach. It was a glowing yellow color that made it seem like it was nuclear. "I have done things I'm not proud of to blend in with human society but this is just ridiculous. Wearing something like this everyone would be looking at me!" -Selene. "And that's why it's so clever. No one will look at you dressed up like this and think you are a Vampire or even a threat to society in general." -Jayce. "I'm not going to wear it." -Selene. "Yes you are, I paid eighty dollars for this outfit and the wig you sure as hell are gonna wear it and enjoy it!" -Jayce.
When Jayce arrived in front of the electronic company building next to the Hunter's Base he was driving his own car again. He had a red hand mark on his left cheek and Selene was sitting in the passenger seat wearing the bright outfit he had bought for her. "Wait here I'll be right back." -Jayce. He had parked in a ten minutes or less zone. Selene looked in the rear view mirror and she could see that the Hunter's were still out int the park surveying the area and searching for more evidence that she may have dropped. Jayce was right about her outfit. A simple change in attire made her completely invisible to them. Selene leaned back in her seat and waited.
Jayce walked into the building and straight up to the first desk associate closest to him. The first thing he did was pull out his badge and show it to the clerk. "Hunter Jayce Argeris, we need more cooperation from you today." -Jayce. "What more could you need? We've already given you all security footage and complete access to every level of the building." -Clerk. "I need to know if any strange activity was reported yesterday and I don't mean shadowy figures or creep old men in trench coats. I'm talking things that would normally fly under the radar." -Jayce. The clerk shrugged as if he had no idea what Jayce was talking about. But the clerk at the end nearest to the restroom flagged him down with a wave. Jayce walked over to her. "I had a note on my desk from the night shift worker. It said that an employee reported having her clothes changed without consent or prior knowledge. I gave it to my manager but he said she was probably just on drugs." -Female clerk. "Did she find her own clothes? And what did she do with the new ones?" -Jayce. "I don't know the note didn't say, but if that happened to me I'd go to the police right away." -Female clerk. "thank you ma'am you've been a real help to this investigation." -Jayce.
As Selene sat in the car waiting their was a knock on her window. It was a Hunter. Bronze rank from the color of his cape. He also wore the light armor of the bronze rank Hunters. It was not nearly as heavy or durable as the silver rank and it was worlds away from the gold rank. Selene rolled down the window. "Ma'am do you have license and registration?" -Bronze rank Hunter. "I'm not the driver." -Selene. She pointed at the driver seat to show him she was not in it. "Ma'am I understand this is an inconvenience but this car is a registered Hunter vehicle and as such no one not in the employe of the Hunters Branch is allowed to be in it alone." -Bronze rank Hunter. "The Hunter is right inside the building here." -Selene. "Ma'am please step out of the car." -Bronze rank Hunter. He pulled open the latch on the door for her and stepped back. Selene stepped out of the car and leaned against it. The Hunter hesitated for a second and then pulled out a small electronic tablet. "Um, what is your occupation?" -Bronze rank Hunter. "Can't you tell?" -Selene. She put her hands on her hips and stood away from the car. "I'm just gonna put down model. And if I could get your name too." -Bronze rank Hunter. "What's going on?" -Jayce. Jayce had just arrived from behind the other Hunter.
The bronze rank Hunter recognized him instantly. "Oh Hunter Argeris, is this your car?" -Bronze rank Hunter. "Why yes it is. Is everything okay?" -Jayce. "Yes but I have already started this file so if I could just get her name for the report. Don't worry I'll just cancel it when they message me back." -Bronze rank Hunter. Selene looked to Jayce seeing has they had not thought up a name for her. "Her name is, Carmella, Carmella Yorkshire." -Jayce. "Okay well that will be all, you guys have a good day. Good hunting." -Bronze rank Hunter. "Good hunting to you to." -Jayce. Jayce and Selene got back in the car and drove away. The bronze rank Hunter watched the car and couldn't help but speak his thoughts out loud. "Lucky son of a bitch." -Bronze rank Hunter.
As they drove away Jayce could not stop laughing and it was starting to get on Selene's nerves. "What is so funny?" -Selene. "Carmella Yorkshire!" -Jayce. He kept on laughing. "What does that mean?" -Selene. Jayce tried to get some control over himself. "Carmella was a horse I had when I was a kid on the farm and she was a Yorkshire Coach horse." -Jayce. He started laughing again. "Where are we going?" -Selene. Jayce took a few deep breaths to try and get his laughing under control. "We are going to the nearest police station." -Jayce. Jayce kept looking over at Selene every couple of seconds. "What is it?" -Selene. "You kinda look like Carmella too." -Jayce. He started laughing again and Selene actually had to grab the wheel of the car because he was so distracted.
Scene 4
The sunlight shown through the sun glass on the top of the freighter. The UV rays were blocked by the glass and only the light passed through brightening Queen Calypsa's quarters. Calypsa was laying lazily on her pile of lavish items not seeming to concerned about anything. Raynon the super Lycan walked into her room. "The soldiers are all ready." -Raynon. Calypsa did not turn to look at him. "I wish Viktor was still alive. So he could see me now. He always wanted more than he deserved. I always get more than I want." -Calypsa. "Are you going to give the order?" -Raynon. "Find Darwin, bring him to me. Dead or alive it doesn't matter, but not ashes. I want to see his face!" -Calypsa. "Of course my Queen." -Raynon. Raynon turned and left the room.
Calypsa stood up and went to a wardrobe. Inside was a wide array of magnificent robes, dresses and jewelry. She took out a long flowing purple robe, she buttoned the three buttons. She parted the close in the wardrobe and in the back was a glass case holding an old set of armor. This armor resembled an ancient artifact but it was kept in pristine condition. Calypsa took it out and dropped it on over her head. She pulled her hair out of the back and fastened the buckles closed. The armor would be useless against anything more than a sword or dagger but it was more for show than function. The bronze plates had a captivating aura still. She rubbed her hands against the plates of the armor as if remembering all the things it had been through.
Calypsa took out the next piece. A tasset, it looked like a skirt with blades instead of material. She buckled the leather belt around her waist as it was supposed to be. The boots were also bronze and they were connected to a pair of shin guards that ran all the way up to her knees. Once fastened Calypsa looked at herself in a body sized mirror. Almost perfect except one thing. She took the crown from her head and put it on the vanity. Then she opened the lower drawers and there sitting on it's own stand was a helmet type crown. Both gorgeous and functional. She took hold of the crown carefully with only her finger tips and while looking at herself in the mirror she placed it on her head. It felt just like the old times. Before humans knew about immortals, before Vampire and Lycan were forced to work together. Before industrialization and modern technology. Back when the world was ruled by the sword and the arm that swung that sword.
Queen Calypsa also had her own weapon. A Naginata, a Japanese weapon she had claimed from a previous battle. It looked like a katana attached to the end of a pole, like a spearhead. She took the sheath off of the Naginata and stood before the mirror. She was not a frightening figure. In fact most people would say she looked quite fetching in her armor. She went back to her throne and began ripping the luxurious items off of the chair. When everything was off of it she grabbed a intercom microphone off the control panel of the ship. She went back to her seat and sat down. She sat back in her seat, curved her back as high up as possible and planted both feet on the ground. Then she pushed down the button on the microphone.
Inside the ship just below the floor were hundreds of Vampire and Lycan. The Vampire were feral looking and were actually blood deprived on purpose. The deprivation of blood may lower the Vampire's social skills but it multiplies their strength and speed by many times. Some how the queen had managed to find a way to make feral Vampires listen to her word. This was visible in the way they were not attacking the Lycans aboard the ship. The Lycan's were in human form and fully dressed like normal modern soldiers. They all stood relatively close to the extremely large elevator that rises up from the bottom of the freighter top the top to lift up large cargo. Many held automatic assault rifles or sum machine guns. Before Raynon could get to the elevator Queen Calypsa's voice came on over the intercom system that reached every corner of the large freighter.
"My children, hear my word and obey. Lycan's go into the city and search for Darwin Blaine, do not stop until he is found and brought back here dead or alive. As for my children of the night. If Darwin manages to evade us during the day you will proceed and give him no time for rest. He is here in the confines of this city. This city was made by him and it will be destroyed because of him." -Queen Calypsa. The Lycans raised their guns into the air and cheered than Raynon opened the door and walked into the lower section of the freighter. "Move out!" -Raynon. The Lycans in human form began to march onto the incredibly large platform, while the feral Vampires took to the ceiling and clung on knowing that the elevator would open up and let the sunlight in. Krystal City was a mere dot on the map, no one would come to save. It no army would mobilize to protect them, at least not in time. Queen Calypsa knew this and that was why her attack was so bold.
Why not kill two birds with one stone, capture or kill Darwin and prove to the humans that the Vampires are still the dominant creatures on this planet. Raynon took hold of the hanging button box and hit the large red button in the middle that activated the lift. The elevator began raising the soldiers up to the top level of the ship. From her room Calypsa could see the large hatch on the boat start to open up to make way for the lift. Once it reached the top, the soldiers then filed into the large metal crates about thirty men per crate. They must of filled about eight crates full of soldiers. The next step was to radio to the docks so they could get unloaded by the crane operator.
Scene 5
Jayce parked his car next to the police station and was going to ask Selene to wait for him again but she was stepping out of the car before he pulled out the key. When Jayce stepped into the police station there was an instant air of conflict. Stares being thrown across the room in his direction couldn't be more obvious. Jayce passed by the desks the officers use and he walked straight to the lock up center. Here there was an old man standing behind a metal link fence and tall desk. He had a burnt out cigarette hanging out of his mouth and was staring at Jayce with a blank expression. Did a woman come in last night with a report about having her clothes stolen?" -Jayce. Without looking at any paper or the computer to his right the man just replied. "No." -Old officer. Jayce spread a very forced smile across his face. "Could you check?" -Jayce. "No." -Old officer. "It's right there." -Selene. Selene pointed at a clear plastic evidence bag sitting in a pile near other bags, the bag contained her leather jacket and trousers along with her blouse and boots. Jayce's guns were also in the bag but the bullets had been removed and safety tags placed through the wheels.
"The bag is right there if you could just pass it to me and we can check it out of here and be on our way." -Jayce. "No." -Old officer. Jayce pulled out his billfold with his silver badge inside. "Well this, this right here says yes, you will give it to me." -Jayce. "That doesn't mean shit here boy." -Old officer. Jayce chuckled and looked over at Selene. "It means nothing here. Isn't that nice." -Jayce. He then jumped up onto the desk and fit his body through the hole in the fence and grabbed onto the old officers clothes and started shaking him. "You crazy old piece of shit! I'll show you what it means here!" -Jayce. Half the officers in the station stood up and ran to pull Jayce out of the hole in the fence and off of the old officer. Jayce didn't fight the other officers but he did manage to pull the old officer's face into the metal fence multiple times. The old officer was left with a bloody nose and a sever headache. Jayce was being held back by five officers when the captain of this station walked out and picked up Jayce's billfold.
He lifted the badge up to get a better view. "Hunter Jayce Argeris. This is not the first time you've been in my station is it?" -Captain. "We go where the job demands we go, no matter how rundown." -Jayce. "Is that a fact? Well what does a big shot silver rank Hunter like yourself need with our old rundown station lock up?" -Captain. "There is evidence in there from an ongoing case." -Jayce. The captain took a key off his belt and opened the door to the lock up. Selene pointed at the bag again. The captain picked it up. "This one?" -Captain. Selene nodded yes. He brought the bag out and threw it on the desk. He then took the list from the desk and started matching up the numbers and filling out the paperwork. He than ripped a pink slip out from under the original copy and walked over to Jayce. He tossed the bag to Selene and showed the pink slip to Jayce. "You take this and you come back into my station and make me come out of my office again, I'm locking you up until your Hunter friends realize your missing in action." -Captain. The officers holding Jayce let him go, Jayce pulled the pink slip out of the Captain's hand.
Jayce and Selene left the station. Selene got in the back seat this time and Jayce sat waiting in the front. "That went as smooth as could be." -Selene. Her sarcasm was overflowing through that sentence. "I've had bad run-ins with the police officers of Krystal City." -Jayce. Selene pulled off her T-shirt and was about to pull on her blouse. Jayce pushed the corner of his side mirror until he could see her in the back seat. "What happened?" -Selene. She pulled down her beach skirt and Jayce sat up higher to see better. "Oh you know I arrested some cops for being co-conspirators to a Vampire plan to bomb city hall." -Jayce. "Did they bomb the place?" -Selene. She sat back and pulled on her tight leather trousers. "Oh yeah." -Jayce. He had a perfect view and she wiggled into her trousers. "Really? How many causalities?" -Selene. "Oh what? No the bomb never went off I stopped them." -Jayce. "But you just said -" -Selene. "No I killed most of them in a junkyard. The rest fled to a cabin out in the woods where we surrounded them and took them out." -Jayce.
Selene stepped over the seat and moved to the front passenger seat. "So can we go find Eve now." -Selene. She handed Jayce his gun belt with his empty revolvers put back into the holsters. "You know I can still kill without my guns right?" -Jayce. "If you insist." -Selene. Jayce started the car and pulled out of the parking spot. "Why is that so hard to believe? I've been a Hunter for more than a decade and I have managed to stay alive so far." -Jayce. "Skill and luck are two totally different things. And when your dealing with Eve don't push your luck because she hates Hunters even more than Kelvin." -Selene. "Noted." -Jayce. They drove up to the docks and looked around. This was where Selene had received her last GPS on Eve's phone. Jayce caught sight of the overly large freighter. He rubbed his chin. "Hey, if you wanted to move your coven long distances what would you use?" -Jayce. "Well we normally use the truck but we did have get creative more than a few times and rig something up, but for the best results something large, empty, dark and with wheels is all we need. Why?" -Selene. "What about if you wanted to cross and ocean?" -Jayce. Selene looked out his window and also saw the large freighter.
"That could get a lot of Vampires across an ocean." -Selene. "Yeah but why isn't it docked yet? It's just anchored there." -Jayce. "Do you think Eve is there?" -Selene. "I couldn't say, but I just remembered I was supposed to be at someones house right now." -Jayce. "But we were going to find Eve and try and bring her back." -Selene. "You will have to find her alone, I have to go. Do you want me to drop you off here?" -Jayce. Selene got out of the car and pulled off her blonde wig and threw it into the car. "Hey you need that. Do you want me to pick you up later?!" -Jayce. Selene walked away without responding to him. Jayce started the car and left. "Oh she's so going to get caught." -Jayce. He drove further down the beach road because it was a long one way street. When he passed the beach and reached the residential docks he noticed that the tip of one of the yachts was higher up than it was supposed to be. As a Hunter for more than a decade Jayce had trained himself to spot any sort of strange thing that didn't belong. Jayce pulled into the docks and from here he could see that the yacht was seriously in trouble, the lower level was submerged.
Jayce looked at the yacht, then back at the freighter, then he thought about Darwin and his ominous warning. He made the decision to get back in his car and go to Darwin's mansion. Perhaps something was going on in that yacht but whatever it was it could not have been more important than the immanent threat that had forced a rich nearly untouchable Vampire to take refuge in the prison of a Hunter's Base. Jayce needed more info on Darwin's mystery Queen. He drove at the brink of the speed limit and arrived at the inlet to Darwin's mansion quiet soon. All seemed calm here. Things are not always as they seem.
Scene 6
Jayce presented his badge to the scanner at the gate. The gate opened up and he drove in. At the top near Darwin's large six car garage there were three cars parked. Jayce turned off his car still a distance away from the house so that whoever was in the mansion wouldn't here him approaching. Jayce adjusted his gun belt and took out his normal guns. He switched them with the two others he had brought. He had also forgotten to pick up more bullets. He was about to open his trunk when a scream came from one of the open windows in the mansion. Jayce abandoned his car still open and ran to the nearest window. He jumped as high as he could and crashed into the glass breaking his way into the mansion. A secondary scream followed and Jayce jumped to his feet and ran through the house with his smaller revolver in hand. This gun had no special ammo, but it would still do the job if every shot was to the face. As Jayce walked through the hallways with haste he saw a dresser flipped out of a room and smash into the opposing door. Then another scream as he heard the unmistakable sound of knuckles hitting bone. Jayce entered the room and there were two men and Darwin's house keeper. One of the men was standing over her and hitting and slapping her. The other was leaning against a desk.
Jayce fired at the man on top of the house keeper and the bullet hit him in the shoulder. That man fell to the floor, the house keeper crawled away towards Jayce. Jayce walked towards her with his gun still pointed at the two men. The one against the desk wasn't bothered by Jayce's appearance. The other was clutching his shoulder. Jayce knelt down and helped the house keeper up. She got up and got behind Jayce holding onto his shoulder. "You can't be Darwin. Darwin is a Vampire. Who are you?" -Leaning man. "I'm Jayce." -Jayce. "Who's Jayce?" -Leaning man. "I'm the one who's gonna kill you." -Jayce. The two men laughed. The one holding his shoulder let got and he was holding a bullet in his hand. Jayce grabbed the housemaid and ran. He knew they were Lycans with just that evidence. The two men transformed into their Lycan forms and began rushing out the doorway on all fours.
Jayce ran into a hallway and pushed the housemaid ahead of himself. "Hurry up keep going." -Jayce. When the Lycans entered the hallway Jayce fired at them hitting both twice in the face. It wasn't enough they fell to the floor but they were getting back up. Jayce kept running and when he reached the end of the hallway the housemaid pulled him into a doorway that lead to a stair case. She took Jayce up the steps and all the way down another hallway. They could hear the Lycans behind them. She ran into a room and Jayce followed her in she shut the door behind him and Jayce looked around. The room was an armory, it was filled with ancient weapons as well as modern day bullets and guns. Some of the guns did not look like anything Jayce had seen before. The housemaid went to a cabinet and pulled out a large box. She opened it and inside were magazines filled with silver nitrate bullets.
She began looking for the gun that matched the magazine size while Jayce secured the door. Jayce saw to his left a manikin wearing an old armor set. On the manikin's waist was a belt holding a double edged sword. Jayce moved sideways towards the manikin but didn't take his aim off the door. He unfastened the belt with his left hand and slung the belt over his left shoulder. "Here!" -Housemaid. She threw a gun to Jayce, it was an old style repeater with the wood finish still in perfect shape. The mag was like a modified attachment made later to the gun to make reloading quicker. Jayce grabbed the lever action weapon out of the air and holstered his revolver. The housemaid came up on his right side and slid two extra mags into both of his pockets, then she stood back and got behind the dresser. They could hear the Lycans turning things over outside. Looking in all the rooms, then silence. "Do you think they left?" -Housemaid.
One of the Lycans crashed through the wall of the room near the dresser the housemaid was hiding behind. Jayce turned his aim from the door and fired at the Lycan that had breached. After each single shot Jayce needed to pull the lever down on the weapon to chamber the next round. He fired into the Lycan five times with extreme quickness. The bullet shells flying out of the repeater were still smocking when they hit the floor. Before that Lycan went down, the other broke down the door and tackled Jayce. Jayce was trapped underneath the Lycan with the gun pressed sideways against his chest. The Lycan lifted it's body up to try and bit Jayce, but Jayce lifted the gun until it reached the throat of the Lycan holding him back from being able to bit downwards. Instead the Lycan chomped at the air and tried to get a better positioning.
Jayce could see the other Lycan getting to it's feet slowly and crawling towards the housemaid who had been pinned behind the dresser when the Lycan pushed it. Jayce struggled to both hold back the Lycan's head and aim the repeater at the other Lycan. He pulled his left leg out from under the Lycan and lifted his knee up against it's throat. The he was able to aim the gun more easily sideways. He fired the shot and it hit the Lycan and passed through his throat. The Lycan began to gurgle as the blood poured into it's windpipe from it's throat. The Lycan on top of Jayce then snapped it's jaws near Jayce's ear. Jayce used all his strength to pull his right foot out from under the Lycan. When he got it out he lifted both feet up to the Lycan's shoulders. The Lycan began to slide him across the floor like a wheel barrel, constantly snapping at Jayce's face or trying to swat him with it's massive claws. With a longer distance in between them Jayce straightened out the rifle and fired into the Lycan's chest until the gun was empty.
After pulling back the lever two more times Jayce used his legs to push the Lycan off of him and he dropped the rifle. The other Lycan had died from the multiple shots. Jayce had cuts on his arms and legs from the Lycan's claws which had grazed him multiple times. Only a few of the cuts were deep enough to leave long trails of blood down his arm. Jayce walked over to the dresser and pulled it away from the wall and the opposing dresser allowing the housemaid to get out. She took two old flintlock pistols off of their decorative material displays and wrapped them around Jayce's arms. The materials were both bright red. Jayce walked over and picked up the repeater he had dropped. "This is mine now. I'd say Mr. Blaine owes me one." -Jayce. "Is he okay? They were asking me about him and all sorts of weird stuff I didn't know about like a safe combination, but not any of the ones here in this house." -Housemaid. "He's fine. He just – wait a second." -Jayce. Jayce spun around and locked eyes with the housemaid. "You just got attacked by two Lycans and the first thing you ask is how is your boss! What's really going on here?" -Jayce.
The housemaid opened her mouth as if she was going to speak but then she closed it and thought about what she was about to do. Instead she decided to come clean. "Mr. Blaine was always strange. I had my suspicions early on that he was something more than a rich landowner. But he adopted me from the orphanage and gave me a great place to live, so I didn't look too deep into his strange activities. Then you came and I was sure you would figure out if there was anything strange about him. When the Hunters started staking out the mansion I knew he was one. So I confronted him about it. He said that when I reached the age of twenty-five he would bestow his gift upon me and make me immortal too." -Housemaid. "So that's why you're so concerned about him. No immortality if there's no immortal." -Jayce. "Are you going to kill me?" -Housemaid. "No, but this thing. This thing you want so bad is not a gift. It is the worst kind of curse that you could attain, well besides Lycanthropy." -Jayce. "Mr. Blaine doesn't feed off living humans. You know that right?" -Housemaid. Jayce walked closer to her. "What's your name?" -Jayce. "Allen. Allen Blaine." -Allen. "Allen, leave here and never come back. Don't look for him or for others like him. If you go looking for blood you will find it." -Jayce.
Jayce walked out of the Blaine mansion with two boxes of ammo he had obtained from the armory. Darwin would be having no use for it and he would likely need it more. He put the two boxes in his back seat and got in the drivers seat. He had asked Allen a few other questions about the Lycans but the info was relatively useless. He had no other leads. He sat in the car for a moment and then remembered the sunken yacht. He put his car in gear and left the Blaine mansion. Allen watched him drive away from a large window. As soon as he was out of the gate she left the window and dropped the curtains.
Scene 7
After Jayce dropped Selene off and drove away she walked over to a beach bench and sat down. He entire argument to win over Eve revolved around Jayce being there with her and showing Eve that they could work in tandem with the humans. With Jayce gone her whole argument was lost. Showing her face to Eve now would only cause her to be ridiculed for not even succeeding in getting him to make a mere meeting time. Selene looked at the oversized freighter and wondered how Eve would get access to such a large boat without causing a lot of commotion. As she watched it, the lifeless freighter began to take action. It began to move closer to the docks. This didn't concern Selene, she just sat at the bench and waited. The large crane on the docks began unloading the metal crates from the freighter. The crates reminded Selene of the first night she saw Jayce, here on this very pier.
As she was pondering what to do next she was startled by the sound of gunfire. The shooting was followed by screaming and yelling. Selene was on the beach and from here she couldn't see up onto the pier. She got up and started moving towards the pier and what she saw reminded her of the old days. Soldiers moving across the pier and docks wearing the patch of Queen Calypsa. It was the same symbol she had used centuries ago on her warriors armor. Selene took cover so that the soldiers didn't see her. The soldiers split into multiple different teams and went down different streets. Some stood on the docks and took control of the crane and they began removing more crates from the freighter. Selene pulled out her phone, she had programed her number into Jayce's phone and vice-verse while he was asleep. She called him, he answered but she could tell he was driving because of the wind in the background. "Where are you?" -Selene. "I'm almost to the docks, there's this yacht I need to check out." -Jayce. "Something more important just came up. You have soldiers moving into Krystal City right now." -Selene. "What?! Soldiers from where?" -Jayce. "They are coming off of that huge boat that was just sitting in the water." -Selene.
Jayce turned the last corner and arrived at the far end of the beach street. From here he could see that the freighter had moved into the docks and was being unloaded. There was the sound of distant gunfire in some of the distant streets. Jayce hit the pedal down to the floor and his car accelerated to the maximum speed in mere seconds and he sped down the long strip of road leading to the freighter. "Selene, can you stop them before they get into the city?" -Jayce. Selene watched as the soldiers kept pouring out of crates and forming ranks at the docks. Their were now more than two hundred men with high powered weapons ready to move into the city to support the others who just went in. "You know I don't think I can do much right now." -Selene. She heard the sound of Jayce's car roaring down the street she got out of her hiding spot and ran to the edge of the street where he had dropped her off.
The soldiers near the exit to the docks saw her and opened fire. She was fast enough to avoid most of their bullets. A few stuck into her back though. Jayce's car screeched to a halt right in front of Selene, blocking the line of sight of the soldiers that were firing at her. She pulled open the door and got in. Jayce was about to roll his window down to fire at the soldiers, but about ten more soldiers came to shot at his car. He had no choice but to drive away quickly. "Who the hell are they?!" -Jayce. "They work for Queen Calypsa! She's a -" -Selene. "A Vampire! Yeah I heard a little about her!" -Jayce. Jayce drove into an alley way that was distant from the docks and he coded in so he could get a direct call to the Commander. The call got through quickly. "Jayce, when are you going to come in, we need your help on this Hybrid case." -Commander. "Listen Pops we got a huge problem an army of soldiers is moving into Krystal City as we speak from the docks. They have heavy weapons and -" -Jayce. The Commander started laughing at Jayce through the phone. "Listen I know you don't wanna work with Sorbo, but what's this bullshit story about?" -Jayce. "It's not a story, Commander we have a serious – Look out!" -Jayce. Jayce pulled Selene closer to his side of the car as a soldier from the opening in the alleyway fired a missile at his car. Jayce's car flipped over and smashed sideways against the dumpster nearby.
"Jayce! Kid what happened?!" -Commander. The Commander spun around in his desk and activated his computer that tracked the location of his Hunters. Jayce's beacon was coming from a few streets away from the docks. He got up off his desk and grabbed his gun from the coat hanger on the wall. He buckled his gun belt and opened a cabinet near the door and pulled out a large automatic assault rifle. He then walked out onto the fourth floor. "Lady, Rookie we're moving out! Call in Brick and Rookie you're driving!" -Commander. Lady pulled her gun out of her desk and the Rookie grabbed an assault rifle out of a armory box that was supposed to be locked. The Rookie ran ahead of the Commander and Lady pulled out her cellphone while walking to call Brick.
Scene 8
Brick was at home, he lived in a fair community within a close distance to the beach. He was looking out the window of his fifth story apartment after hearing what he thought to be gunshots. His daughters and wife were in the kitchen making animal shaped pancakes. His wife was during the last couple of weeks of pregnancy. "Come on Honey don't worry about that stuff you're on vacation." -Wife. Brick reluctantly went back to the couch and sat down. "Matilda, are you sure pancakes is a good idea so close to the birth date?" -Brick. His wife Matilda unloaded a huge amount of syrup onto her pancakes while looking him dead in the eyes. "What are you gonna do about it, arrest me?" -Matilda. As soon as she put the syrup bottle down there was a loud explosions a few blocks away from Bricks apartment complex. It shook the entire building a little. Brick jumped up off the couch and collected his family and ushered them into the master bedroom.
Once in the master bedroom he went into his private dresser and pulled out multiple guns two pistols and a sawed off shotgun. "Stay here and don't leave until I come back." -Brick. As a Hunter Brick was highly aware this could not be just some random explosion. Brick grabbed his armor from the bedroom closet and threw on all the pieces as quickly as he could. "Daddy where are you going?" -Daughter. Brick looked back at his family. "Something bad just happened out there, I gotta make sure everyone's okay." -Brick. Brick left his apartment and took the stairs instead of the elevator. He rushed down to the last floor and then he heard the clear sound of gunfire filling the street. Brick ran to an open door and looked out onto the street. A few officers were taking cover behind their car in the middle of the street as five men dressed like soldiers were firing at the car. Brick fired a shot at one of the men shooting him in the shoulder. Then the other men all turned and opened fire on the doorway. Brick fell back into the hallway as the bullets tore up the wood frame of the doorway and left large holes in the wall behind it.
As he was kneeling there waiting his phone started ringing. He looked at the name and saw that it was Lady. He answered the call, but could barely hear anything with all the gunfire happening next to him. Then the men stopped shooting at the doorway, an officer must have fired back. Brick just dropped his phone on the floor, he took out his other pistol and prepared himself. Then he ran out of the doorway and fired at the military dressed men while running toward the cop car. He hit two of them and then dove behind the car. A few of the bullets had hit his armor but not caused any serious damage. One of the officers was bleeding from his stomach. "Hey do you have back up coming?!" -Brick. The officer nodded his head quickly and then ducked as a bullet passed over his head. "We have to get out from behind this car!" -Brick. The officer fired a few more shoots over the hood of the car then ducked back down. Brick also did the same thing while trying to think up a better plan.
At that moment two more police cars drove up with their sirens on and the attention of the soldiers was diverted. Brick lifted the injured officer up onto his shoulder. "Cover me!" -Brick. The officer ran sideways with Brick while firing in the direction of the soldiers. They had taking cover behind a delivery truck. Brick and the officer ran into a building on the other side of the street. Brick put the injured officer down at the far end of the hallway out of reach of any bullets and he opened up his shirt to see the wound. It wasn't a very serious wound but if left untreated it could still leave him in danger of death. Brick used the officers own shirt to tie up his stomach and stop the bleeding then he used the officers belt to keep constant pressure on the officer's wound.
Brick then took his gun and extra mag. "You stay with him, I'm gonna go up to get a better shot." -Brick. Brick ran up the stairs and kicked open an apartment that was seemingly empty. The family was probably cowering in the back room like his was. He went to the window and he could see the exchange of bullets between the offices and the soldiers. One of the officers was hit and Brick aimed at the men hiding behind the delivery truck. He could barely see them but one had his gun sticking out form behind the truck. Brick fired at the gun and it flew out of the soldiers hands. The soldier than flashed his head out from behind the truck to see where the shot had come from. Brick took aim ready to fire again. The soldier came out and flung something. Brick fired twice into his chest and the man went down. There was a sound of breaking glass above brick and then he knee what it was. He ran to the back of the building but the grenade went off and dropped the third floor onto the second floor and smashed Brick under the debris.
Scene 9
The captain from the police station where Jayce and Selene had visited was preparing his men for the situation. They were putting on riot armor and other gear that they had never had to use before. Then they loaded up into two large police vehicles and drove towards the beach. The two vehicles split down different streets, because the reports were coming from all streets connected to the beach. This was not the only police station taking action. The two others in Krystal City were also mobilizing. The Hunter's Base was also moving out. The different ranking Hunters all poured out into their cars and large vehicles and drove towards the beach as citizens not in immediate danger evacuated their families and animals. The gold rank Hunters sitting on the fifth floor looked out the window and scoffed at the rushing Hunters below. Then the reports started coming in that these soldiers weren't just men, they were Lycans. Once they were out of bullets they transformed and rushed into battle in their animal form.
The officers started to back up when they found out the soldiers were Lycans. Unless they littered them with bullets they couldn't kill the Lycans. When the Hunters arrived on the various front lines they brought with them the ammo necessary to bring down the Lycans. But with limited ammo, it was vital that they work together as groups to fight the Lycan soldiers. Each street stretching from one side of the docks to the other was filled with an exchange of bullets. The amount of ground the Lycans were covering was different based on how well the teams were doing to combat them. When the commander arrived on the scene he split Lady and the Rookie away from himself and they went to help the most in need of back up. Some of the battle escalated into the buildings as the Lycans looked for cover from the Hunters and officers.
Scene 10
Jayce shook himself awake and pushed down the airbag in front of him. He was upside down and Selene was laying on the roof of the car. Half of her leg was severely burnt and fraged from the explosion. Jayce released his seat belt and fell out of the car. He then got up and carefully lifted Selene out of the car. She was unconscious. Jayce sat her up against the dumpster and went to the upside down trunk of his car. He opened it and a few miscellaneous things fell out. He reached in and pulled the mat at the bottom of the trunk out. Underneath was an assortment of guns and bullets, this was what he was going to retrieve before going into Darwin's house but he got distracted. Jayce started pulling the guns out of their holders and tossing them on the floor. When he got them all out Selene was awake and pulling the shrapnel out of her leg. "Are you ready?" -Jayce. He slid the guns across the floor towards her. While he checked the repeater and filled his revolvers. "I don't remember saying I was gonna help you with this! This isn't my problem it's yours!" -Selene. "Don't give me that shit! These are Lycan soldiers sent here by a Vampire, so this all has something to do with you in some way! Besides, you owe me!" -Jayce. Selene stood up and wobbled on one foot.
She then bent down and picked up two pistols and put them in her pockets. Then she got a long barrel assault rifle with burst fire. Something then fell out of the car. It was the sword Jayce had taken from Darwin's mansion. Jayce picked it up and wrapped it onto his back. "What's that for?" -Selene. "Just in case." -Jayce. With four revolvers, a repeater in his hands and a sword on his back along with his Hunter armor, which was still in his trunk from his imprisonment. Jayce was ready to join the shoot out for Krystal city. Selene loaded her guns and nodded to Jayce that she was ready. The two did not retreat back to the safe side of the front lines. No, they used the alleyway to get themselves behind the Lycan soldiers.
From behind the wall of the alleyway they could see that soldier were still pouring off of the freighter and out from the docks. They had no way of engaging them without alerting over a hundred men. Jayce and Selene disappeared into the back door of an apartment building. They walked up the stairs to the second floor and heard a snarl. They both looked at each other and said what it was at the exact same time. "Lycan!" -Jayce/Selene. The Lycan dropped from above them and Jayce rolled forward while Selene back stepped. The two fired at the Lycan ten times leaving the Lycan in a bloody mess. As they continued up the stairs the Lycan's body was sliding down the steps. When they were close to reaching the roof Jayce's cellphone went off. He stopped to answer it. "Kid! Where are you?!" -Commander. "We are headed to the top of the apartments nearest to the beach. Were gonna do something really stupid!" -Jayce. "Who is we?! I thought you were alone?" -Commander. "Oh yeah you're right. I'm going to attract some of them away from the streets for awhile! Be ready to move in!" -Jayce. He hung up his phone.
Jayce kicked open the door to the roof level and they moved to the edge. "This is kind of a stupid plan." -Selene. "Yeah it is. You don't have to stay with me. But I do expect you to help repel these beasts." -Jayce. "I'm not going anywhere." -Selene. She opened the scope on her weapon and held the gun up to her shoulder. Jayce held his rifle up and calmed his breathing. He only had iron sights to aim with, but that was not much of a challenge for him. They picked targets down on the street level and then took their shots. The Lycan's they shot took heavy damage and were dead before they hit the floor. The other Lycan soldiers began looking for the shooters. Jayce and Selene were up too high for the Lycans to have decent aim on them. Instead the Lycans began transforming and running up the side of the building. Jayce and Selene began picking them off as they climbed higher and higher. But more and more kept climbing up. Until there was more than forty climbing up.
Soldiers at the docks began firing at Jayce and Selene with sniper rifles. Jayce was hit dead center in the chest, but the Hunter armor is made to withstand even fifty caliber rounds. He was blown off his feet but was relatively unharmed. Selene ducked down under the side of the building to avoid the snipers. She helped Jayce up and they ran to the other side of the building. But there were Lycans coming up that way too. Jayce and Selene split up and checked the other two sides, both had Lycan climbing up rapidly. They were completely surrounded. "What now?" -Selene. Jayce looked around. There were a few things that separated Krystal City from other cities and one of those things was that the phone lines passed from building to building in a zigzag pattern up the streets and then down and so on. The phone lines were high up on a large wooden pole like they would be if they were on the ground. "Can you grab that?" -Jayce. He pointed up at the wire and Selene looked at it. "What do you mean?" -Selene. A Lycan breached the top and Jayce shot him in the head and chambered the next round in his repeater. "Just catch it!" -Jayce.
More Lycans began to reach the top of the building. Jayce fired at the wire and hit it letting the wire fall. Selene jumped up and grabbed it. Had she missed it would have just slipped down to the side of the opposing building. The Lycans began running across the rooftop. Jayce and Selene held onto the wire and ran to the edge of the building with the Lycans close on their heels and they jumped off the side of the building. Selene's feet passed right over the head of a Lycan that was climbing the building. Selene and Jayce fell straight down until the wire got taught and they swung towards the other side of the street. When they reached the other apartment complex they hit the side of the building pretty hard. Jayce almost slipped off the wire but Selene grabbed him, she had to drop her gun to do so. Jayce shot the window near them and then the two climbed into the apartment building.
Scene 11
"What the fuck was that Tarzan and Jane?!" -Commander. He saw Jayce and Selene swing across the street from where he was holding up behind a Hunter's car. After he said that a helicopter piloted and manned by bronze rank Hunters passed over his head and opened fire on the Lycans atop the apartment building that Jayce and Selene had led them to. As they mowed down the Lycans a missile originating from the docks hit the helicopter and blew the tail off. Jayce and Selene were running down the stairs when the helicopter blades sliced into the side of the building and nearly chopped them both in half. The helicopter couldn't stay airborne and it plummeted to the ground.
The Commander saw the helicopter crash right in front of him. "Goddamn mother fuckers! Those were god men! Move forward!" -Commander. The Commander led his men on a counter attack using the crashed helicopter as a distraction. He ran up to the burning copter and took the large gun that was mounted to it. He then started firing into the direction of the Lycans mowing them down as they appeared. Then the remaining Lycans on the side of the buildings began dropping down and attacking the officers and Hunters. They got behind the line and were causing chaos. Soon the commander was being assaulted from in front and behind. He was being pinned down with only a few men left. As the Lycans closed in on him Jayce crashed through the second story window of the nearest apartment building and opened fire. He fired twice with the repeater before he even hit the floor. After he rolled up to his feet he dropped the repeater and drew his revolvers faster than the soldiers could change their aim to him. He shot down six and the ones he didn't hit Selene did from the safety of the window.
The Commander and his men focused on the ones in front of them now. Jayce ran and took cover next to the Commander. "Just like old times, huh Pops?!" -Jayce. "Kid get your Tarzan ass over to fifth street I hear the Rookies got problems over there! We got this!" -Commander. Few more Hunters ran into this street to back up the Commander, so Jayce signed to Selene that they were moving back. Selene stepped out the window and followed him out of the street. "Where are we going?" -Selene. Jayce got into a Hunter car and waited for Selene to get in. "They need some help on Fifth." -Jayce. Jayce hit the gas pedal and they sped down the street. "Do you enjoy this?" -Selene. "What are you crazy no." -Jayce. "Then why are you smiling?" -Selene. Jayce put his hand up to his lips and noticed he was in fact smiling. "I don't know." -Jayce. Before they could discuss anything else an explosions erupted in front of them and a cop car fell to the pavement completely on fire. "We're here!" -Jayce.
Jayce and Selene got out of the car and ran up against the building. They peaked their heads out and saw a public bus blasted in two flaming pieces. Jayce then ran down the street a ways and took cover behind the bus. A missile whizzed passed him and hit the burning cop car again blasting it even further down the street. Selene came up behind Jayce. "Where is everyone here?" -Selene. "I don't know there's too much smoke I can't see. Rook! Rook!" -Jayce. Jayce waited a second and then he heard the reply. "Over here!" -Rookie. Jayce ran through the smoke towards the voice, then he slid into a blasted hole in the side of a building. It was smokey and dusty but he could see that the Rookie and some others had taken cover in here. Selene entered the hole behind Jayce.
Jayce and the Rookie patted each other on the back and then Rookie explained the situation. "They got a shit ton of explosives here man, they've been firing missiles throwing grenades and not even trying to come in here!" -Rookie. "Okay you guys head up and try and get above the smoke to get a clear shot, I'll use the smoke as cover and try to get closer, well see what happens." -Jayce. As the Rookie and his men passed Selene, she turned her face away so he wouldn't recognize her from the fliers. Jayce and Selene crept out of the hole in the wall and a blast a few yards away startled them, but then there was another blast further away. This meant that they didn't know they were there, they were just throwing randomly. Selene put her hand on Jayce's shoulder and she went into the smoke first. She kept very close to the ground, even using her hands to support her weight sometimes. Jayce couldn't even see how far ahead of him she was.
Selene crawled through the smoke until she saw a burning car in front of her. She ripped the tire of the car and stood up. She reached back and flung the tire down the street towards the opposite side of the road. They fired at it and then dropped a few grenades. But the distraction was enough. Selene dashed through the smoke towards the closest soldier. She grabbed his gun and pointed the barrel up into the air then she fired one shot into the soldiers face with the pistol Jayce had given her. The other soldiers were just turning to open fire on her, but Selene was much faster than them in their human form. She ducked and ran straight at the closest Lycan jamming her fingers through his ribcage and then she ripped out her hand and dropped to the ground to avoid the bullets the others were firing. She used her dropping momentum to complete an extra quick sweep kick which broke the soldiers leg below his knee. He was unable to stand and fell to his knees. Selene also shot him only once in the head in between his eyes. The last soldier dropped his gun and began transforming into his Lycan form.
Selene grabbed the gun off the dead soldier and fired the entire mag into the Lycan's chest. He took two large steps back, but he was not dead. He looked back at Selene and howled. Selene lifted her pistol but the Lycan was already too close. He pounced at her and they flew all the way out of the street and into the apartment building. They crashed through the wooden wall and Selene had to drop the pistol in order to hold the Lycan's mouth shut so it didn't bite her. Selene wrestled with the Lycan and then kicked the beast off of her body and into the second story of the apartment building. The Lycan crashed through the second story and hit the third floor then landed hard on the second story. Selene went to reach for her pistol but two soldiers rushed to the door. They opened fire and Selene dove into a random door which she broke. The room on the inside was a small maintenance room. There was nothing in the room but a few sprays and buckets. Selene took the other pistol from her pocket and stood silently against the wall waiting for the soldiers to make their move.
She didn't hear a sound from the soldiers although the sound of gunfire could be heard from down the other streets. Then a Lycan's claws smashed through the wall of the small room and swatted in all directions. Selene Jumped out of the room and rolled back while firing at the wall. The Lycan then pushed through the fragile wall and jumped at her. Selene fired twice into the head and the beast fell to the ground in mid jump. Then she heard the unmistakeable growl of more Lycans. Two to be exact. One coming down the stairs slowly the other coming from the original holed in area. Selene put her back against the wall and fired at the one coming from the stairs but her gun was empty. She had none of her knives with her and the two Lycans came running at her. Selene waited until the Lycan to her right jumped into the air. She then dropped her body really low and passed underneath the Lycan's claws and mouth. She grabbed hold of his left foot and pulled it with all her force. The Lycan's leg came out of it's socket and hung loose but Selene was still pulled away by the Lycans heavy body weight. She was quickly assaulted by the other Lycan who slashed at her chest with it's long claws.
Selene's skin was ripped widen in three different places and she rolled away from the Lycan's second swipe as quickly as she could. She got to her feet and fell backwards against the wall. She was breathing hard as the Lycans moved to enclose her again, one on the left and one on the right. Then the Lycan from the second story dropped down through the hole Selene had kicked him into. He quickly understood what was going to happen down here. Selene slowly took steps towards her dropped gun. The Lycans snarled and stalked her as if daring her to reach for it. She moved closer to the hole in the wall and the Lycans were less than ten feet from her. When Selene decided she was going to reach for her gun their were six consecutive shots fired as if from the barrel of an automatic weapon. The shots hit all three Lycans, one bullet in the head and one in the chest for each. When Selene turned her head she saw Jayce standing in the broken entry way. His gun held close to his hip the barrel smoking and his left hand resting on the hammer of the revolver.
"Nice shooting." -Selene. "You looked like you had the situation under control." -Jayce. His sarcasm was not appreciated. Jayce and Selene moved to the top of the building by stairs. They wanted to be able to see passed the smoke and know where the enemies were concentrated. Once they reach the roof they saw a few families huddled in the corner hiding from view. Many people in these apartments and businesses did not have time to evacuate, so they could only hide. Jayce went to them and Selene went to the other edge of the building to look for the soldiers. Jayce knelt down next to the families. "Is anyone injured or suffering from shock?" -Jayce. They all responded clearly and none seemed to be in any physical pain. "Jayce you're gonna wanna call your boss!" -Selene. Jayce went towards the edge of the building where Selene was. "Why?" -Jayce.
From here Jayce and Selene could see the large freighter and some sort of large cannon type artillery was being lifted to the top of the boat. It was like something you would see on a battleship. With three large barrels and a rotating platform. The device began turning and aiming towards the city. Jayce pulled his phone out of his pocket and pressed the button for the Commander's number. He didn't answer. The barrels kept turning closer to the city. Jayce called Lady, she also did not answer. Jayce called Brick and he too did not answer. He already knew that the Rookie was in the buildings behind him. Selene and Jayce looked at each other, there was nothing they could do. The cannons aimed straight towards main street where the Commander was supposed to be. Then as the shooting died down for a moment the loud explosions could be heard as all three shots were fired one after the other in a horizontal line over the ground.
The first shot torn through the buildings and left a hole stretching through each building going from the front of main street all the way to the back. The holes was the size of a wreaking ball and the damage was substantial. The second bullet passed through the center of the street missing all the buildings but causing small explosions as it hit and demolished every vehicle or human in it's path until it exploded into the ground at the end of main street. The third was much like the first except on the opposite side of the street. Tens of buildings had been blasted through and who knows how many lives lost. As Jayce and Selene looked on at the horror, some of the buildings on the left side began to crumble onto the street. So anyone that had survived the second blast was now buried under hundreds of pounds of burning rubble.
