You're a Grandpa...Again!
(Renesmee's POV)
It's November here in Forks now. The air is cool and it won't be long until it begins to snow. Aunt Alice says any day now. There still hasn't been any sign of the all four man, but we were still watching out for him. The wolves and my family had patrols running all around the town, looking out for this man. I have also been getting nightmares lately. They're mostly about the all four man. Halloween distracted me for awhile, but then reality started to sink in. Since then I can't seem to shake my fear.
Momma has been pregnant for a almost two months now and Grandpa Carlisle thinks Momma should be able to deliver soon. Her tummy was getting larger by the minute and I couldn't wait to meet my new brother. Part of me really wishes I had a little sister. That would be fun, then again I had Lily. She was kind of like my little sister. Momma also barely left the house now because they wanted to keep a careful watch on her. She doesn't hunt too much too. Daddy or one of my other relatives get blood for her when they're out. Grandpa says we have to be careful. I think it's mostly because we don't know anything about how this delivery is going to go. According to my grandfather though, it's been like any normal human pregnancy. I think my momma's body can keep up with the fact my little brother is growing really fast.
"Nessie! Whatcha doing?" Lily asked me, tugging on my sleeve. Right now I was sitting in my daddy's old room on his couch. To be honest, I was just kind of bored. I was reading a book, but I discarded it and began to just look outside.
My cousins have grown greatly since Brazil. They could probably pass off for four year olds now. Aidan's blonde curls turned wavy and Lily's grew out onto her back. Aidan is a lot like Uncle Emmett, possibly even sillier. Lily was like Aunt Rosalie in her beauty and edge. It's kind of funny how much they're like their parents.
"I dunno, want to see what the grown ups are up to?" I asked her. "I'm kind of bored."
"Okay!" My cousin agreed. The two of us then take hands and go downstairs where everyone else was.
"Hi Angels," Aunt Alice greeted us as we entered the living room.
My entire family was there. Momma was sitting in Daddy's lap. His arms were wrapped around her enlarged stomach. Aunt Rose and Aunt Alice were sitting next to Momma obviously talking baby stuff with her. My aunts were probably pitching nursery ideas to my mother. Grandma Esme and Grandpa Carlisle were in one another's embrace reading a book together in the corner.
Then there were my uncles and Aidan. Those three were intensely watching the Titans vs the Cowboys football game on T.V. I could tell Uncle Emmett and Uncle Jazz were really getting into it because it was there hometowns; Tennessee vs. Texas. I could tell Aidan was just voting for whatever team was winning.
"Whatcha doing?" I asked my parents and aunts, coming over with Lily.
"Discussing baby names," Momma told me, rubbing her enlarged stomach.
"What have you come up with?" I asked curiously.
"We thought of a few," Momma told me, looking towards Daddy. "Masen, Anthony, Jett, Jasmett, Rolice, Edward. What do you like girls?"
"Hmmmm," I look at my cousin who shrugs.
"Jett and Jasmett sound unique, but I don't think it will fit him," Lily said, scrunching her nose up.
"And Rolice sounds like a watch. I'm sorry. I'm going to have to turn that one down," Alice said, shaking her head.
"Yeah. We agree with Aunt Alice," I said, sharing a look with Lily who nodded her head.
"Doesn't sound cool," Lily remarked, backing me up.
"And I don't think you should name the baby Edward. No offense to you, Edward, but think about in the future- two Edward's in the same family is going to be hard to explain. I mean we could call him Eddie or EJ but people might find that questionable," Aunt Rose mentioned.
"Wasn't I supposed to be Edward Jr?" I asked curiously. "If I was a boy."
"You were. I wanted to name you Edward Jacob," Momma confessed, stroking my hair gently. "We would've called you E.J."
"I'm glad I'm Renesmee," I confessed.
"We are too." Momma chuckled, kissing the top of my head.
"Love, if I intervene...Rose has a point. What are we going to tell people? It just seems odd to me that is. We could call him E.J, but I just feel like it would be better to use a different name," Daddy said, rubbing her hand.
"So I guess Edward is out of the picture, " Momma mentioned, sighing. "So...What does that leave us?"
"Masen and Anthony," I announced. "You know, that sounds like a nice name. Masen Anthony. You'd still be naming the baby after Daddy. It's his middle and old last name. Plus he'd have his own unique name."
"Hmmmm. Masen Anthony," My momma hummed, rubbing her stomach. "I like it...Edward?"
"I think it's a good name," He said, kissing my mother on the lips. "I'm honored you even want to name him after me."
"Well, if we ever had a little boy it's what I wanted to do," Momma said, smiling up at him.
I noticed a smirk appear on Aunt Alice's lips. She clearly knew something, but wasn't confessing just yet. It's probably a surprise. Momma probably won't like it...
"What would you have named it if it where a girl?" I asked. I was curious what we would name the baby if it was a girl.
"Well...I'm not sure. But, I can say that maybe Elizabeth would definitely be an option," Momma said, rubbing my father's knee. I watched my father give my mother a small sad smile.
"Who's Elizabeth?" I asked, furrowing my brows in confusion.
"She was my human mother. She died a long time ago. Right before I became a vampire," Daddy explained to me sadly.
"Oh," I said softly. I sigh. It did make me sad that I wouldn't ever meet my daddy's parents. Even though Grandpa Carlisle and Grandma Esme were really awesome and amazing grandparents- I just wish I could've also known daddy's parents.
"Oh my gosh!" Momma exclaimed, touching her stomach. "Here, baby. He's kicking."
"Really!?" My hand instantly flew to my momma's tummy. I could feel a little flutter against my hands and I couldn't help but grin. "Hi there Masen! It's your big sister Renesmee! I can't wait to meet you. I promise we'll have loads of fun when you come out!"
"That's so sweet baby," my mom cooed, smoothing out my curls. "He's going to be very lucky to have you as a sister."
I blushed at her comment. I was excited for my baby brother. Even if he wouldn't be my baby sister. All of a sudden there was a knock on the door and all of our attention turned there.
"It's Charlie," my daddy answered.
Grandpa Charlie! Did I mention he now knows about vampires? It kind of happened last summer when he was babysitting. We had a little mishap that involved me using my power on him by accident. Momma and Daddy weren't mad. I think the family agreed it was time to finally tell him what was going on. Anyway he was seriously dating Sue, so he already knew all about the wolves at this point. Might as well tell him about vampires. He wasn't too shocked when we told him. In fact, I think he kind of knew we were something supernatural. My family never ages and meanwhile I was growing like a weed...So it was only fair to tell him. At least this way I'll have Grandpa Charlie in my life.
The only one who doesn't know about me or what we are is Grandma Renee. I never met her before and I know it hurts Momma that I'll never meet her. She lives all the way in Florida with my step Grandpa Phil. Momma says that maybe one day we'll meet her, but she doesn't want to risk her knowing about us with the Volturi around.
I jump off the couch and ran to the door in a frenzy before anyone else could. I missed my grandpa. I haven't seen him since he left for his trip weeks ago. He doesn't know anything yet.
"Grandpa! Nana Sue!" I squealed, opening the door wide open to greet them. The two of them smiled seeing me and I ran straight into my grandfather's arms. He chuckled, twirling me around in the air.
"Nessie!" my grandpa exclaimed, giving me a squeeze. "We missed you kid!"
"I missed you guys too!" I said, hugging on tightly to my grandfather.
"Hello sweetie," Nanna Sue greeted me with a kiss on the cheek. "How's elementary school going?"
"Really great! I made a ton of friends," I told Nanna Sue.
"Oh that's good," She said, giving my arm a rub.
"How was the lake?" I asked. "Did you guys fish a lot?"
"Yeah. We um did," Grandpa Charlie said, his words coming out a little funny. I frowned while he shared a grin with Nanna Sue.
"Okay then..." I said, shrugging it off.
"Anyway- How's my favorite grandchild doing? Tell me more about what's going on, kiddo," Grandpa said.
"You know I'm not going to be your only grandkid from now on," I told him with a smirk.
"Huh?" I watched as he shared a confused look with Nanna Sue. So I took the liberty of placing a hand on my grandfather's cheek, showing him everything that's just happened with Momma.
"Your mother's pregnant!?" Grandpa Charlie cried out in surprise, looking at me with wide eyes.
"Is that even possible?" Nanna Sue asked. She looked just as surprised as my grandpa.
I nodded my head. "Yeah! It is! We just found out," I explained, motioning to the living room.
"Renesmee," My dad scolded, coming down the stairs. "I think that's something your mother wanted to ease your grandfather into..."
"Sorry," I winced, looking at my dad and then my grandfather.
"It's okay, kiddo. I just kind of want more of an explanation," Grandpa said, rubbing my back.
"Come to the living room. We'll try to explain the best we can," My daddy said, motioning to the other room.
"Alright then..." Grandpa Charlie muttered as he placed me down on the ground. "Is this some weird vampire thing?"
"You can say that," Daddy replied as he placed his hands on my shoulders. "We'll try to explain."
"Okay then..." My grandpa said, sharing a look with Nanna Sue before entering the living room.
When they entered the living room, my entire vampire family looked towards them. Momma then got help from Aunt Rose and stood up, revealing her baby bump. I immediately go by her side where she pulls me close to her. One hand is on my shoulder and the other on her bump. Daddy comes to her side as well.
"Wow...Bells, you really are pregnant again," Grandpa said in disbelief. "How did...How?"
"Edward and I were able to conceive again. It's kind of a complicated story...It involves this magic cave and I don't think you really want me to go into details," My mom said, scratching the back of her head awkwardly.
"Does the pack know?" Nanna Sue asked softly. "Sorry...I just want to make sure there isn't trouble."
"They are well aware and they're fine with it," Daddy said. "We talked to Jacob and Seth. They told the pack and we're on good terms."
"Alright. Good," Nanna Sue said, looking relieved. I know she gets worried how the pack will react to certain things sometimes.
"So will the baby be like Nessie?" Grandpa asked curiously.
"We don't know yet. It's kind of a shock to us as well," Momma confessed. "Carlisle thinks the baby will be like Renesmee in retrospect, but we can't be certain. Alice and Jasper have been looking into it, but all we know is this baby will be healthy and in a sense, normal."
Grandpa just took a seat and looked at my mom with big eyes, "Shesh Bells, a grandfather for two in only two years. Wow...And you're only twenty-one...This is not how I thought this would go."
"I know sorry we didn't tell you sooner," my mom apologized, fiddling with her hands. "We wanted to wait until you guys got back."
"No! Bells, it's absolutely fine. I'm just surprised, that's all. I'm new to this world still and- Look, I'm happy for you. More grandchildren. How could I not be angry?" Grandpa Charlie said. Momma smiled at him and went over to give him a hug.
"Thanks, Dad," Momma said as the two pulled apart.
"Anyway...So do you know what gender the baby is or you can't figure that out or something?" Grandpa asked curiously.
"Well Alice had a vision and she says it's a boy, so we're taking her word on that," Momma explained to him.
"Vision? Oh yeah right forgot she was physic," Grandpa muttered, looking over to my aunt who just gave him an innocent smile.
"I mean, once he's born we'll call you and you guys can meet and stuff," Momma said, rubbing her baby bump kind of nervously.
"Yeah...Sure! I'd really like that, Bells," Grandpa said, giving her a smile. Momma smiled too. After that, Grandpa Charlie and Nanna Sue stayed for a bit. They told us about their trip and I told them more about what's going in in elementary school. They left pretty late so I was starting to get tired fast.
"We'll time for bed," Momma announced as the three of us entered the cottage.
"Okay, Momma," I said, going to brush my teeth and put my pajamas on. After saying goodnight to Daddy, I then crawled into my bed and waited for my momma to tuck me in.
"Story?" I ask sweetly, looking up at her.
"Of course, baby," She said, chuckling. Momma then took a seat next to me in the bed and wrapped an arm around my body. I snuggled into her side as she began to read the words of a poem by Robert Frost. My eyes drifting, sleep taking over at any moment.
"Night Renesmee. I love you, more than my own life," Momma whispered, kissing my cheek.
"Night Momma, I love you too," I said, closing my eyes shut.
And with that I fell asleep into dream land. My momma's arms wrapped around me with my little brother right next to me in her tummy.
