My Imprinter and I
(Renesmee's POV)
I smiled while I held hands with Jacob. My tiny hand always seemed to fit perfectly in his very large warm one. Today I was just going to have some fun with my best friend. It's been a while since we've hung out with one another. With school and the man of all four...It was time for one of our get-togethers at the La Push beach. Jacob and I used to come here all the time during the summer, just hanging out. Today was a special day though. Even if it was cold out, I wanted to just get out of the house. Momma was taking some time to relax with Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa went on some errands, Uncle Jasper and Aunt Alice went hunting, and Uncle Emmett and Aunt Rosalie were taking Lily and Aidan to see some kid movie in Port Angeles they've been dying to see.
I get more excited as we get closer to the beach. I didn't really plan on going into the water because of the weather so I just brought a bucket for shells to collect. I was dressed up in my pink wind breaker and jeans with my converse sneakers. The cool Washington November wind hit my warm face as we stepped onto the beach. It kind of tickled against my skin. I looked up at Jacob who was in only shorts and a t-shirt. His wolf warmth always seemed to amaze me.
"How do you just wear that? Don't you ever get cold?" I asked him.
"Not really, it's just a wolf thing," He told me, shrugging. A chuckle soon followed, "What about you? You're pretty warm yourself."
"Nah I get cold," I said, faking a shiver. He laughed.
"Oh, Ness," He said, giving my hair a ruffle.
When the two of us step on the sand I let go of his big hand and run onto the beach looking for shells. Jacob is right behind me as I begin to pick my newfound treasures. Maybe I can give them to Momma, Daddy, and Masen as a present or Lily. She might like these for her room.
My cousins changed up their rooms now since they aren't babies anymore. Lily's is beach themed. She's been in love with the beach since Isle Esme. We took her to the La Push beach once before and she really loved it.
Aidan on the other hand decorated his whole room with baseball stuff since Uncle Emmett got him really into that. He has an obsession with legos now and he loves building anything out of them. I think he's going to be good at building things especially with his powers. I sometimes see him sitting on his floor and he'll use his telekinesis to bring his box of legos over to him. Maybe when Masen is born Aidan will have a play mate to play blocks with. I feel bad sometimes because I spend more time with Lily. It's not because I have anything against him, he just likes to play everything Lily and I don't like to play. Though we try to include him in every game we can.
Whenever I play with my cousins they like to use their twin telepathy to cheat, and that sometimes annoys me. Maybe with my little brother we can gang up on the Hale twins, Cullen siblings agains the Hales. That'll be interesting. I wonder if Masen will get a power.
"Chase me, Jake!" I cried out excitedly, getting bored of collecting shells.
"Alright. Get over here kiddo," he exclaimed, chuckling. He began to chase me around the beach in a mad frenzy. I laughed watching Jacob try to catch me as I rushed across the cool sand of La Push.
"Gottcha," Jake sung as he then scooped me up into his arms, making me giggle. He then brings me over to a log where we both sit down and look at the waves. Maybe this could be a good time to ask him about him as my imprint. I just wanted to see what he had to say. It's kind of been a thought of mine for awhile. It was one of those thoughts that just float around in your head. Maybe now seemed like the perfect time since we're alone. It's not something I really want to bring up around my parents.
"Jake?" I asked shyly.
"Yeah?" He responded.
"What is exactly an imprint? I mean I know you imprinted on me...But what is it exactly?" I asked him curiously. The nerves rising within me.
I watched as Jacob then held in his breath. His eyes close for a bit as he tries to think of something to say to me. I could tell he seemed puzzled.
"Look Ness, we just have a very special bond. You and I, we both have a very special connection and..." He paused, trying to form the words better. He licked his lips, "Do...Do you know what a soul mate is?"
"Yeah Momma and Daddy are soul mates," I exclaimed. "So are Auntie Rose and Uncle Em! Aunt Alice and Uncle Jazz! Oh- And Grandma and Grandpa!
Jacob gives me a weary smile, "Exactly! So...You see, an imprint means like that. Don't freak out but imprinting means we're...We're soul mates."
"We're suppose to be what?" I looked at him incredulously. My eyes wide.
Jacob sighed, "Look you and I don't have to be like your mom and dad in the future. I's just our feelings for one another are going to get stronger in the future. I'm going to be there for you, Ness. I don't have to have that kind of relationship with you in a very long time. You're still young. Anyway, I'm just going to be whatever you want me to be. If you need a friend or a brother, that's what I'll be. That's all," he told me gently. "Like I said, whatever you want me to be I'll be. We're just have a strong connection is all."
"Oh...Do you think we can just stay best friends for now?" I asked him.
He nodded, "Of course! I have no problem with that."
I chuckled as I go to give him a playful nudge. "You think the baby will come soon?" I asked him to ease into another conversation.
"I guess whenever Masen feels like it, he'll come," Jacob told me. "Your grandpa probably knows better than I do."
"Oh...Okay," I said. "Jacob...How do babies get out of Momma's tummy?"
I watched as his eyes went wide. He then burst out into laughter, trying to contain himself.
"Jacob!" I cried out in embarrassment.
"Sorry...Look, Nessie I think that's something you should ask your parents," he told me, still chuckling.
"Humph! Fine!" I huffed, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Ness, I'm sorry. It's just not my place as your best friend to be telling you that," He told me. "You'll understand in the future."
I stuck my tongue out at him playfully and he pretends to be mad.
"I'm gonna get you then," he said, grinning. Jacob then begins to tickle me, causing me to erupt into a fit load of giggles.
At the end of our day Jake and I just watched the sun set behind the stormy clouds of Forks, ending our great day together.
