Lucy's POV
"Hey Levy" I greeted the blue hair girl as I sat down in my seat.
"Oh hey, Luce" greeted Levy.
"I need to tell you something" I told her.
"What is it?" she asks.
I tell her about what happened yesterday from beginning to end.
"You did what?!" she shouted. Now everyone was looking at us.
"Shhhh.. Keep it down." I whispered.
"Lucy, you have to be careful around Natsu. He may treat you well, but he feels differently about Kaori" Levy warns.
"I know. It's just that I don't know what to do anymore. How do I know that he's the same person when he's with me and when he's with 'Kaori'?" I asked.
Levy shrugs. "Well, we'll just have to wait and see I guess"
The door opens and the 'Dragons' walk in. Screams erupted from both the boys and girls like they do everyday. Each student try to get their attention. 'So annoying.'
They sat down in their regular seats as students surround them. This is precisely the reason why I'm dressing like a nerd right now.
The door opens again and Ms. Mira walks in, greeting us with a happy "Good Morning, class". She takes attendance, before making a big announcement.
"So class, today we have a new student!" she said excitedly.
"I hope he/she isn't like the nerd over there" said a boy in class looking in my direction. The boys all laughed, while the girls giggled. 'Tsk, I could make them all go bankrupt and they don't even know it.'
"So is it a boy or a girl?" asked a kid.
"It's a boy," said Ms. Mira, "and he just came back from America so be nice to him! Come on in, Gajeel!"
'Gajeel? Why does that name sound so familiar?'
The door opens and a boy with black hair and piercing walks in. My eyes widened.
"Please introduce yourself" said Mira. All the girls were ogling over his bad boy looks.
"The name's Gajeel. Gajeel Redfox" he says. He looks around the classroom and our eyes lock.
"Any questions class?" asked Mira.
"Doesn't your family own the number one company in America, Iron Entertainments?" asked a boy.
"Yes" he replied.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" asked a girl.
"No" he said. All the girls screamed in happiness. "Can I sit down now?" he asked Mira.
"W-why, of course! Take any empty seat available." said Mira.
All the students wanted him to sit next to them. He walked through the rows before stopping next to my desk.
"Is that seat taken?" he asked pointing to the empty desk beside mine. I shook my head.
He dropped his school bag roughly onto the desk before sitting down lazily on the chair.
Questions like "Why is he sitting with the nerds?" and "Ew, why them?" flooded the classroom.
"So, since we have a new student today, why don't we have a free period so you guys can get acquainted with him" said Mira. The class cheered. Everyone besides the Dragons stormed over to my side of the classroom.
"Come on, Levy. Let's go somewhere quieter" I said. Levy nodded and we stood up to walk out of the classroom.
Natsu's POV
Nerd and bookworm are leaving. I wonder what they are up to. The Gajeel dude was staring at the nerd the whole time when he was standing in front of the classroom. What's up with that? Maybe I should follow behind them to see what's going on. I stood up from my seat.
"Where are you going?" asked Gray. Erza stared at me and raised an eyebrow.
"Bathroom" I lied. I walked out of the classroom and secretly followed behind the two girls.
Lucy's POV
We walked to an empty hallway so nobody could hear us.
"Do you know him, Lucy?" Levy asks.
I sighed. "Yes I do. But I never expected him to come back to Japan."
"How do you know him?" she asked.
"I use to play with him when I was really little. He lived next door to me. When my parents were busy, I would go see him in the backyard. It's been ages now. I doubt he could see through this disguise. Heck, I bet he doesn't even remember me" I said.
"I wouldn't be that sure if I were you." said Levy.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"He was looking at you the whole time. Maybe he recognized you" she said.
"Maybe it was probably just a coincidence" I said.
Natsu's POV
Nerd and new kid were neighbors? That seems too unrealistic. Why would someone wealthy be living in a poor neighborhood? And what did she mean by disguise? Things are getting a little fishy around here. I started to walk back to the classroom before I get caught listening into their conversation.
"Hey, your back" said Gray. "What took you so long? Took a dump or something." Gray chuckled. Erza laughed.
"Very funny." I said. I sat down in my seat and started thinking. How could those two have a past together? Things just aren't adding up.
I looked over to where the new kid was sitting. He stood up from his seat and started making his way out of the classroom. He looked over to my direction and we stared at each other for a moment before he broke the contact and left the room.
Lucy's POV
Levy and I were heading back to the classroom when we saw Gajeel walking in the hall. I tried looking down at the ground and quickly walking past to avoid a conversation. However, my plan failed.
"You're Lucy aren't you" he said. I froze and looked over at him.
"You still remember me?" I asked surprised.
Gajeel chuckles. "Of course. I can recognize you any where, even through your current looks"
"What are you doing back in Japan? Didn't you become a famous singer in America? I thought you were on tour with your band" I asked.
He shrugs. "I needed a break. Fans can be really annoying somethings. I'm guessing you're dressed like that to avoid your fans?"
"Something like that" I said.
"So who's your friend?" he asked.
"Oh! This is my best friend Levy, I met her on the first day of school" I said.
"H-hi, I'm Levy McGarden. Nice to meet you" she blushed as she extended her hand.
"Gajeel" he said as he took her hand and winked. Levy's face turned beat red. 'Did she have a fever?'
"Now that we all know each other. We should probably head back to class before people get suspicious" I said and they nodded.
We walk into the classroom and all eyes were on us. We walked over and sat down in our seats as eyes followed our every movement.
Whispers of suspicion could be heard around the room. I sighed. This was going to be a long day.
ring ring
School's finally over. Thank the lord!
"Let's walk home together" said Levy. I nodded and quickly stuffed my things into my bag. Everyone else had already left.
Just as we were about to exit the school, a hand grabbed my wrist and spun me around. I came face-to-face with the pink haired boy.
"I have some questions for you blondie" he said in a stern tone. I shook my hand until he left loose of my wrist and crossed my arms over my chest.
"And why should I answer to you" I said.
"Because I know your secret" he grinned. 'Secret? Did he find out about my identity?' I thought nervously.
"W-what do you mean. I have no secrets" I stammered.
"You're not actually who you are, are you" he said. "I mean, why would someone like you be friends with the owners of the two top companies in Japan and America. It just doesn't make any sense. Poor people like you don't fit in with the rest of us"
I was shocked by his statement. How can a person be so nice to Lucy, but not 'Kaori'. I was so mad I accidentally blurted, "Well Lucy thinks your an self indulging, egoistic jerk!" I quickly covered my mouth.
Natsu stared at me with wide-eyes and a blank look. "Did she really say that?" he questioned. His saddened expression hurt me inside. I didn't mean to say that. He looks at the ground defeated and says, "Sorry to bother you" before walking away.
My heart sank. What have I done. I looked over a Levy and I could feel my eyes start watering. Levy pulled me into a hug. "I didn't mean to say that" I whispered.
She rubbed my back, "I know" she says. "Everything is going to be alright."
Short chapter. I finally got Gajeel into the equation cause I love a GajeelxLevy love story! And poor Lucy and Natsu. But don't worry, they'll make up soon. Sorry for the really late update, I got extremely busy. I finally had a chance to update since it's Thanksgiving break. Hope you enjoy this chapter and don't forget to be thankful for what you have in life. "You never value what you have until you lose it."
