A Laid Back Day
(Edward's POV)
It's been a week since Ethan's arrival and we've all been on our toes ever since he told us all about Lorenzo. Alice has tried to get maybe some sort of vision of Lorenzo, but hasn't gotten anything yet. To her, it's like when Bella was pregnant with Renesmee. She can't get any single. At least she's trying. It took her two years to finally be able to get visions of our daughter and even the wolves.
This man was so frustrating it was just killing me, theoretically. I just wanted a safe environment for my children to grow up in. It's bad enough with the thought of the Volturi always lurking in the shadows, but this man is just making our life more difficult.
Jacob informed the other wolves about the information we received about Lorenzo. Thankfully they'll be watching the area as well. They are guarding all the land by La Push while we have the rest of the town. Someone is always on watch duty. We aren't going to risk anything especially since we have four kids in the family.
Bella, the girls, and I don't go to the cottage as much as we used to. We go there sometimes, but we don't want to risk being so far away from the rest of the family. We decided its best if we stay close to the family at the big house. Lorenzo keeps targeting us when we're alone. He gets intimated when there's more than one of us. I don't think he can take the whole coven on, so hence- strength in numbers.
I wonder what's he's even planning for us. He is so unpredictable and spontaneous..Of course, making this more of a challenge. All I want is for him to be out of the way so my family could be safe again.
Today though was a relaxing day in the Cullen house. Something that hasn't happened in a while. The kids where playing on the lawn, Emmett was building god knows what, I was playing chess with Jasper, and the girls where talking about kid stuff. We needed a day like this, with all the stuff going on it was going to be nice to have a nice family day.
"Check mate," I announced in triumph as I beat my brother at the game.
"And you win," Jasper grumbled, watching as I knock his piece off the board.
"Yes I do," I proclaimed, smiling smugly.
"Darn mind reader," He thought, glaring in my direct. I just give him an innocent shrug, causing him to roll his eyes.
"We'll I'm going to go see Alice," Jasper muttered as he went outside to find his wife. Meanwhile, I hear aloud banging noise come from where Emmett was. Thus, I decided to go see what my goofball of a brother was up to. Hopefully it wasn't anything stupid.
As I left the back entrance of the house, I look to see Emmett is building something while Rosalie is scolding at him.
"What is he building?" I asked my lovely wife as I sit down right by her on the porch. She smiles widely seeing me, but shrugs.
"Not sure. Rosalie's getting mad at him," Bella explained to me. In the process she fixates Lizzy who's resting in her arms. My youngest daughter gives me a small smile before turning her attention to her crazy Uncle.
"Emmett! I swear to God!" Rosalie cried out, rubbing her temples. "You are so stubborn!"
"Rosie! I got this!" Emmett cried out.
"We should see what he's up to," I mentioned, watching the couple. "I mean Rose is yelling his ear off."
"Are you sure? It's kind of amusing?" Bella said, smirking deviously at me.
I chuckled, pressing my lips to her forehead. "As much as I want to watch the luge suffer, let's spare him this time."
"Alright," Bella agreed, rolling her eyes playfully. I laughed as she turned her attention to our brother. "Hey Emmett!" Bella called out to him.
"What!" Emmett yelled back.
"What are you exactly building?" Bella questioned, looking at the odd contraption.
"It's suppose to be a play set for the kids!" Emmett cried out. I took a better look at it. Honest to God, the play set looked like a twister dismembered it. I don't think slides are suppose to be backwards and attached to the swings.
"Emmett Gunther McCarty Cullen! I'm not letting our kids or our nieces play on that thing! Half vampire or not- They could hurt themselves. Just let me help you," Rosalie argued, crossing her arms over her chest.
"No, this is man's work!" Emmett insisted, looking to where the rest of the guys were. "Come on Edward, Jasper, Carlisle, Aidan! Help a brother out!"
"Yeah right. The women in this family could build that play set better than you ever can!" Rosalie huffed one last time before storming away over to where the other girls are.
Emmett then turned to us guys, "So? Are you men going to help me or you're just gonna sit around with your wives?"
"Who said I would help you?" I remarked, raising my eyebrows at him. "Maybe I like hanging out with my intelligent and beautiful wife."
"Oh come on! Just help me! I need smart people!" Emmett whined.
"Go help the big luge!" Alice giggled, trying to hide her big grin.
"Maybe you two will get rewards later," My wife whispered, winking at me. I grin at her in response.
"Fine," Jasper agreed, sighing as he got up. "Come on Edward, let's help the idiot."
"Alright," I complied, chuckling. I then turn to where my father was sitting in the lawn chair with my mother curled up to his side. "You coming, Dad?"
Carlisle looked at Esme who had an amused look on her face. "I mean well- I think I'm good."
"If Edward and I have to help Emmett, you're coming too Carlisle," Jasper ordered, walking over.
"Come on dear, go help the boys," Esme chided, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"Alright," Carlisle agreed dryly, getting up from his spot next to Esme. I chuckled, giving him a pat on the pack as he joined us.
Jasper, Carlisle, and I finally began to try to help Emmett build the play set, but he was a bit stubborn. I'm sure the girls were having a blast watching us. Honestly, they could build this thing probably faster than we ever could.
I looked to see Alice, Rosalie, and Esme sat down right by where we are working and talked. Lily and Renesmee were playing in the grass while Lizzy was gurgling in Bella's arms.
"Hey guys!" I turned to see Jacob making his way over with Seth.
Seth Clearwater is the only other werewolf besides Jacob who ever comes to visit us the most. Sometimes you'll see Leah pop up once in awhile. Emily and Sam sometimes come to visit as well, but it's pretty rare. For the most part it's Jacob and Seth coming here to say hello. Out of all the wolves, besides Jacob, I've gotten to know Seth pretty well. He's a pretty funny and nice kid. When Renesmee was little he used to come out here a lot with Jake and play with her.
Instead of the young fourteen year old that I first met, Seth was now sixteen. He was pretty close to finishing high school. He was still the same optimistic kid though. That was just Seth. The optimist of the Quileute wolves.
"Jacob. Seth," I greeted them.
"How's my favorite group of vamps doing?" Seth asked, looking around.
"We're doing okay," I answered for the family.
I watched as Seth's eyes immediately fell on the play set with Jacob. "Is that a play set?" Jacob asked, looking at the building curiously.
"Yes!" Emmett cried out in frustration. "It is! Can't you tell!"
"Jeeze," Jacob muttered, eyeing him. "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the coffin."
"Everyone is making this really difficult right now. What's a man got to do to build a play set for his children and his nieces!" Emmett muttered quietly as he went back to trying to figure out how to build it. Jasper and Carlisle both shared looks as they tried to help Emmett.
"Oh yeah!" Seth exclaimed all of a sudden, turning to me. "Jake told me you guys had another kid. Congrats, man!"
"Thanks," I replied, giving him a proud smile.
"Daddy!" Emmett and I both turn around to see Lily and Renesmee are running over.
"We wanna help too!" Lily pipped up excitedly.
"This is man's work!" Aidan announced, glaring at his sister. "Plus I could always do this."
Aidan then uses his telekinesis to attach the slide where it's suppose to be and untangles the swings. It took about five minutes all together.
"Looks like Aidan can just build this whole thing by himself better than his old man could," Jasper snickered, jabbing Emmett in the ribs. I chuckled while Carlisle tries to hide one. Emmett looks at all of us and scowls.
"Whatever, I don't care because that's my boy!" Emmett cheered, swinging Aidan up in his arms. "Come on kid, let's finish this."
"Alright!" Aidan cheered at Emmett as he helped his father fix the play set with his power.
"I guess we aren't needed," Lily pouted, crossing her arms over her chest. "What are we supposed to do now? I'm bored!"
"Oh! I know! Seth you should meet Lizzy!" Renesmee chirped, looking over at him with big excited eyes.
"Sure!" Seth replied, giving her a gentle and excited smile. Renesmee eagerly then took his hand and dragged him to over to where Bella was with her new baby sister. Jacob and Lily followed close behind as they all gathered around Lizzy.
"Seth this is my baby sister Elizabelle Rosemary Cullen! Or Lizzy, for short," Renesmee stated proudly as she stroked the side of her sister's cheek. Her face was currently buried in Bella's shoulder. "Watch out she reads minds," My eldest daughter warned the wolf.
"Really?" Seth exclaimed enthusiastically. "That's so cool!"
"Yeah and she can send you messages with her mind plus she's a shield like Momma," Renesmee explained to Seth.
"She seems very talented for a baby," Seth said, eyeing her closely.
"Come on baby, say hi to Seth. He's family," Bella cooed, brushing the back of Lizzy's head.
Lizzy then agreed and slowly turned her head so she was making eye contact with Seth.
It happened all so sudden. It was like getting a flashback from two years ago with Jake and Ness. Lizzy and Seth stared at each other for a few moments, silence piercing the air. I then watched as the young wolf slumped to his knees in front of our daughter. A dazed look on his face. The kids looked confused while the rest of the family shared nervous looks with one another.
Suddenly, I felt a growl build up in my chest. I eyed Seth and felt all sorts of emotion run through me. This couldn't be happening. Not again!
"Again?" Bella whispered, looking at Lizzy and then at Seth.
"Oh god," Jacob groaned, rubbing his temples. "Damn it!"
All I could think was the fact I've just lost both of my daughter's to imprinting.
Surprise! Looks like imprinting runs in the family. Also I've notice someone in my reviews thought I'm abandoning the story, I'm not. I'm just limiting my posts to days I have free time because my life is just really busy. I will never abandon a story. Anyway Make sure to please review and be on the lookout for more chapters.
