Chapter Five
The year went on like this, me and Angelina occasionally predicting things that would happen. One day, I ran into Harry in the library. He was looking through the section on famous wizard biographies.
"Hey Harry. History of Magic homework?" I questioned. We had become fairly good friends due to Quidditch.
"Not exactly. You haven't by any chance heard of someone named Nicholas Flamel, have you?"
"As a matter of fact I have. I think I read about him in a book once…" Not a total lie. "Anyway, I think you're looking in the wrong section. This section only has books on wizards or witches who are recent. I'm fairly certain Nicolas Flamel has been around for a long time."
"Really?" he seemed surprised by this.
"Yeah, something about a stone making him immortal, I'm not really sure. It's all very strange."
"Thanks, Alicia!" He turned to run off.
"Wait, Harry!" I called after him.
He turned around. "Yeah?"
"Just, be careful, okay?"
"How'd you know-"
I cut him off. "I just do, alright? Now go tell Hermione and Ron."
One spring morning, I was walking down to breakfast with Ange and Katie, when we happened to walk by the count of the house points. As of last night we were in first place for the house cup, but somehow, overnight, we had dropped one hundred and fifty points!
"What? There must be some mistake!" Katie exclaimed, examining the rubies that remained. Angelina and I shared an uncomfortable glance. We'd almost forgotten about Harry, Hermione, Neville and Norbert.
"I don't know, someone could have lost them last night…" Angelina suggested.
"But a hundred and fifty? In one night? How stupid do you have to be?"
Stupid enough to forget an invisibility cloak, I thought. "Hey look, there are the guys, let's go sit down," I said, pulling the girls over to where Fred, George and Lee were sitting.
"Have you seen the count of house points this morning?" Katie demanded.
"Yeah, it seems like we lost quite a bit of points last night," Fred replied, rolling his eyes.
"Apparently it was Harry Potter and two other first years, they were caught out of bed last night, lost fifty points each," Lee informed us, a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"Seriously? What idiots."
"Hey don't be so harsh," I piped in. "They might have had a good reason!"
George scoffed. "Yeah, right."
"You two sneak out at night all the time," Angelina pointed at Fred and George. "You don't really have the right to go criticizing others who do."
"We're not stupid enough to get caught."
"Besides, we've got something to help us out," George wiggled his eyebrows.
And eventually, Angelina and I managed to convince them to stop referring to Harry as "the Seeker" and to use his real name, to which he seemed very grateful for.
Oliver came running into the common room, where me, Angelina, Katie, Fred, George and Lee had been playing a game of Exploding Snap.
"We're playing Slytherin for the House Cup!" He exclaimed. "We're sure to win! We clearly have the better team! With Harry as our seeker, there's no way we can lose!"
I knew Oliver could go on like this for a while if he wasn't interrupted, and I also wasn't really looking forward to losing to Slytherin, since I knew Harry wouldn't be able to play. "Hey Oliver, do we have a reserve seeker?"
Oliver stopped. "No, I suppose we don't, since we never had actual try outs. Why do you ask?"
"I don't know, I just thought that it might be a good idea to have one, just in case Harry can't play or gets hurt or something." I was really starting to wonder why we actually never had a reserve seeker, it seemed like a pretty legitimate problem. Although, not so much in Oliver's eyes.
"What?" He exclaimed. "What happened to Harry? Why can't he-"
"Oliver!" I cut him off. "Nothing's wrong with Harry! I was just thinking that maybe we should have a backup, just in case!"
"Yeah, there's no harm in getting a backup, is there?" Piped in Angelina, giving me a knowing look.
"Aw, come off it!" Lee joined in.
"Yeah, we don't need-" Started Fred.
"-a reserve! We're-"
"Unstoppable!"
I rolled my eyes. "Still…" I trailed off, hoping Oliver would get my point.
He kind of did. "Alicia and Angelina made a good point. I'll look into it after I finish making plays for the final."
I sighed. That basically meant he would look into it for next year. George looked at me curiously. "Everything okay, Alicia?"
"Yeah, I just feel like something bad is going to happen." I gulped, thinking of Quirrell, and the evil person hiding behind his turban.
"Is this the same kind of feeling you've been getting all year, like the ones you've always been right about?"
"Yeah."
He hugged me. "No offense, but I really hope you're wrong."
