Brown Eyes

(Edward's POV)

I rush inside of the house with Renesmee laying limp in my arms. My daughter was hurt and somehow I felt like it was partially my fault. I thought she would be safe up in the cabin. I told her she was going to be safe up in the cabin. I decided to put all my guilt and thoughts aside thought as Bella and I ran into the house towards Carlisle. My main priority right now is for Renesmee to get better and just hope for the best. She just had to get better.

"What happened?" Carlisle asked us the moment we came running in. I came rushing into the front entrance with Renesmee unconscious and broken in my arms. Bella right next to with a frantic, panic look in her eyes.

Esme was there as well and gasped seeing her granddaughter like this. Seth came from behind the corner of the staircase and looked shocked and scared seeing Renesmee like this. "I'll kill the bastard," Seth murmured under his breath as he got closer to us, but stayed right behind Esme.

"Lorenzo, he bit her and she's hurt. Bella was able to suck the venom out of her system, but she's still injured," I informed them, rambling a bit. I just wanted my daughter to wake up and be okay again.

"I'm going to take the kids upstairs, they shouldn't see her like this," Esme said as she rushed to the other room. Seth followed her as well.

"Alright, bring her to my office. Hurry," Carlisle ordered. I nodded, not wanting to waste any time, as I stalked towards Carlisle's office. As I walk with Bella to bring Renesmee to his office, I noticed Masen see Renesmee. I watched as his eyes widen and I smelt the tears starting to form in his eyes.

"NESSIE!" Masen cried out. He began to sob, but Esme quickly brought him upstairs before he could act any further. Bella and I looked at one another briefly and sighed. We didn't want the kids to see her like this and the last thing we needed was Masen to see his own sister like that.

"Don't worry son, Renesmee needs you. I'll be here with him and the others. Just help her," Esme told me via her mind.

I was thankful for Esme taking the others away as we head into Carlisle's office. I place my daughter on the table while Carlisle and I begin to try to clean up her wounds. She had a lot of bruises on her body. He must have hurt her when she was trying to escape his grip. I helped Carlisle as much as I could as he cleaned out her bite and bandaged her up.

"The bite is cleaned up and her rib is broken, but it should heal soon. It was a slight fracture. The bruises should heal in no time as well. She did lose a bit of blood, so when she wakes up she'll be very weak and in a lot of pain with the broken rib. I'll have someone get her some blood. Besides that I need to get medicine for her. Until we can get those things we'll just wait for her to wake up," Carlisle explained.

"Okay," I replied. I watched as my father then turned to face my wife after his analysis of Renesmee's injuries.

"Bella, I have to say I'm proud of you," Carlisle said to her. She frowned in confusion as he continued. "You pretty much got all the venom out of her system and you kept your control." He went to put his hand on her shoulder and gave it a small squeeze.

"Thank you, Carlisle." She smiled at him. He gives a weak smile before going to head out.

"I'll leave you too now," Carlisle told us one last time as he paused at the door.

"Thanks, Dad," I told him. He gives me a small smile before he leaves.

Now it was just us and Renesmee. I go to sit down next to Renesmee and take one of her tiny hands in mine. Bella comes over to me and wraps her arms tight to my shoulders while she holds to both of our hands.

"She'll wake up," I reassured Bella. She sighed as she then went to lean her head against my shoulder.

"I know. We just have to see how the other kids are doing. God, poor Masen. He had to see his elder sister get hurt like that. I'm glad that physco is dead," Bella mumbled into my shoulder.

"Same. I'm glad as well," I replied.

"I just wish her childhood was much more safer. You know? I hate seeing her being hurt like this all the time." Bella sighed.

"I know, love. I know," I replied.

Though there is a surprise I have in stored for them, well all of us guys have a special surprise for our ladies, but Esme and Carlisle know already since it was their idea. I just hope the kids and the girls were willing to do this. We didn't have much time until Renesmee's childhood was over and the same goes for the others. We only had five years until Masen would be an adult, and Lily and Aidan aren't too far behind. Lizzy still had a pretty long way to go compared to the others, which I was partially grateful for, but at the same time I know it was going to go by the blink of an eye as well. In my opinion, our family needed to do this, even if it means that Ness might not see Jacob as much as she wants. Then again, Carlisle and Esme came up to a solution for that. I know for sure that when we tell them they're going to be surprised. Then again I think Alice might already know because of her 'all seeing eye'.

"Where is she?" Jacob asked as he rushed into the room. His eyes were darting all around the room like a mad man. He looked like an absolute mess.

"She's right here, she's just resting. She'll wake up soon," Bella told him gently. He doesn't waste time as he heads to the other side of her and takes her free hand in his and holds it tight.

"Oh, Ness come on, open those big brown eyes," He begged her as he ran his hand through her curls. I look at my daughter as she stirs a bit to the sound of his voice. Of course it's him.

"Come on, Ness," Jacob whispered as went to kiss Renesmee's hand and held it close to his face.

"Renesmee Carlie please open your eyes," Bella pleaded, running her fingers through Renesmee's curls. "I need to see those pretty eyes to know my baby is okay. Please."

"Angel, please?" I pleaded as I held tight to her little hand. She stirred a bit more until her big brown beautiful eyes open up wide. I could tell she was trying to take in her surroundings as she blinked a few times.

"Ness! Oh thank god!" Jacob breathed a sigh of relief.

"Jakey? Momma? Daddy?" she questioned, clearly still out of it.

"We're right here baby," Bella said, gripping to her hand gently. "You're okay now, baby. Everything's okay."

Renesmee now looked around to see it's us, but automatically winces in pain. Big fat tears flow out of her eyes as she tries to move.

"Momma! Daddy! It hurts!" Renesmee sobbed, clutching her side where her rib was broken. She winced again as I go to place her hand away from her injured spot gently.

"Shhh angel, I know it does. You got hurt pretty bad," I explained as I brushed some of her curls. I go to wipe the tears from the corner of her eyes as she kept sniffling, trying to calm down.

"What did he do to me?" Renesmee whispered. "Why does it hurt so bad on my side!"

"He bit you and broke one of your ribs. You have a few bruises too," I told her softly.

"I remember what happened- I tried to escape him. I was trying to wiggle out of his grip, but he just gripped to me tighter. Then I felt a crack where my ribs were," Renesmee stammered. "Then everything was sort of fuzzy, I just remember my arm felt like it was on fire...And then it was all black."

"You're safe now, no one is going to hurt you," Bella soothed her gently.

"My rib is killing me though," Renesmee said with more tears making their way out of her eyes.

"You want me to put my hand on your rib?" Bella asked her. She nodded as Bella placed her cool hand over her broken rib. Renesmee seemed to relax a bit, but her face was still twisted with pain.

"Gosh Ness you had me so worried. I thought I lost you," Jacob confessed to her. He had tears forming in his eyes as he held tight to her hand. "I failed you," He mumbled quietly. When Renesmee heard this she frowned.

"Jakey, you know I'd never leave you like that. Ever. And you didn't fail me, in fact you saved me, Jake." Renesmee smiled at him as she placed a hand on his cheek. He smiles back at her and gives her a kiss on the top of her forehead.

"Is Lorenzo dead?" Renesmee asked us quietly.

"He is baby. He's gone," Bella told her. This had Renesmee sighing in relief.

"It's all over then, right?" she asked hopefully. I nodded, causing my daughter to smile.

"Finally," Renesmee sighed happily, leaning more into the pillows.

"We're sorry this happened to you baby," Bella whispered, guilt lacing her voice. "We shouldn't have spilt us all up like that. Maybe if you were in the big house-"

"Momma, it's fine. He's dead. I knew either way he would have gotten to me, and I know it. You, Jakey, and Daddy saved me. I'm fine now," Renesmee said, cupping her mother's cheek gently. This little girl always seemed to amaze me, whether it was her kind soul or to her selflessness. She is just like her mother. So much like Bella.

"You need rest," I said to her as I went to kiss her temple. "If you want that rib to heal."

"Alright, I'm kind of sleepy," Renesmee mumbled as she went to rub her tired eyes.

"Bella? Edward?" I look to see Esme's head peek in the doorway. When she spotted Renesmee awake, she grinned and entered the room. "Renesmee, sweetie! You're awake!"

"Yeah Grandma." Renesmee smiled.

Esme came over to give her a small kiss on the cheek before turning to us. "Lizzy and Masen are really concerned about her, do you think it's safe if they come to see her?" She asked us.

"Can they? And Lily and Aidan?" Renesmee pipped up, her mood seemed to lighten up at the thought of her cousins and siblings. I could tell she wanted them to make sure they knew she was okay. I look at Bella and she nodded softly at me.

"You can bring them in. She's ready to see them," I said. Esme nodded as she scurried upstairs to get them.

"They're really worried about you," Bella whispered to her.

"I'm worried about them too. How were they when I was um taken?" Renesmee asked, wincing a bit.

"We were fine." I look to see Masen is in the doorway with Lizzy griping to him. Lily and Aidan were right behind.

"Nessie!" They all cried out excitedly. They all were about to run to her but Rosalie and Emmett stopped them.

"Guys, give her some space. She is still hurting," Rose warned them.

"Kay Momma," Lily said as they walked over. Masen came over first with Lizzy in his arms and place her on Bella's lap as he climbed up to the bed with his sister. Lily and Aidan followed Masen, making sure not to crowd around Renesmee. Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, Jasper, Esme, Carlisle, Ethan, and Seth all stayed by the door to make sure Renesmee was alright.

"Renesmee Carlie you scared me!" Lily scolded at her cousin, fear clearly still in her shaken up voice. I saw Lily's eyes were red rimmed like the rest of the kids and she had a scowl on her face.

"Sorry Lil," Renesmee apologized, hearing that she was upset.

"It's fine, you got me scared. You got us all scared. After you left some mean men came! Lizzy and Masen used their shield to protect us and Aidan tried to use his telekinesis to hit one of the bad men with a tree. I couldn't do anything because I have no power that could help so I went to calling Momma and Daddy to Grandma and Grandpa," Lily explained to her cousin. I frown and share a look with Bella. Did she just say Lizzy and Masen's shield?

"Yeah Dad, Lizzy and I together created this big shield to keep the bad guys out. It lasted awhile until the others came to help us. It kept them out out the house and protected Seth, Colin, and Brady," Masen answered my unspoken question as he turned to look at me.

"So if you two touch hands and expand your shields, you created almost like a physical shield?" I asked slowly and both of my youngest children nod.

"Children of the Light Cave are very powerful," I heard Ethan's voice say. We all turn around to look at him leaning against the doorway. "I had a theory before, that maybe Masen was born to help protect your family alongside Lizzy," He said. "Maybe that's why you have a second child, when the other is in danger. I guess they're kind of like twins, but not really. They're just twins born on different days." A thought crept to my mind. Back when Lorenzo and I had our face off. He called them Lux Lamia.

"With Lorenzo," I spoke up. "He called them Lux Lamia. What are Lux Lamia? It's latin for Light Vampire..but what does it mean?" Ethan shrugged and Carlisle seemed puzzled as well.

"Maybe we can find out more about them soon," Carlisle said. "I think we should start researching their kind more."

"Lorenzo did also mention they're one of the most powerful races out there," Bella mumbled under her breath.

"What else did he mention?" Jasper asked curiously.

"He's mad because the Volturi killed Joham, and thinks it's our fault. Him and Joham were planning to defeat the Volturi," I said. "But what I don't get is why did he tell us? I couldn't even find it in his mind why he chose to."

"We may never know," Carlisle stated.

"Do you think that Nauhel was in on it?" Rosalie asked softly. I shook my head.

"No, you do realize that Nauhel hated his father. He wouldn't have joined sides with him, in fact it was him that sort of turned Joham in. Not us," I said, thinking about the day when the Volturi tried to take Renesmee away from us all those years ago.

"What about Joham's kids?" Emmett piped up. "Aren't they hybrids? Why didn't Lorenzo kill them?"

"They were going to be his guards," I responded to my brother's questions. "They wanted every other hybrid out there dead for some reason. Maybe they found them as a liability, along with Ethan's family, Gwen and Matt's, and ours."

"But wait," Bella spoke up to everyone else. "Didn't Lorenzo say there were other reasons?"

"Maybe there are," Carlisle replied. "But for now I think it's best if we relax now that Lorenzo is dead. Even though it is a bit sick to be celebrating over the death of a man, evil or not, the family is safe now and that's what most important. In the meantime maybe we'll try to locate Joham's other children and find out what they know of their fathers plans."

Then I remembered something, I was too caught up with Renesmee's injuries that I didn't really notice. In his mind I saw a young female. She fairly pretty, but to me no women can compare to Bella's beauty. Lorenzo thought of her before he died.

"There was a women," I mentioned to everyone. "Lorenzo, he thought of her before he died."

"His mate?" Bella asked curiously.

I shrugged."Who knows, at the moment all that matters is he's dead and we can live in peace once again," Carlisle said to us.

He turned to me directly after saying that. "I think we should tell them soon, son. After Renesmee is healed, it might be the best for us to leave."

I nodded at my father and he nodded back. No one seems to notice the silent conversation we just had as they all paid attention to Renesmee. I just hoped for the best with this move we were planning.

"Oh god!" Alice cried out all of a sudden, scarring some of the kids. She winced slightly, feeling apologetic, but went on with her rant anyway. "Seriously! Now, those ass-"

"Alice!" Esme gasped, astonished. "Language!" she scolded, her finger pointing at Alice like you'd do to scold at a small child.

"Sorry mom, but it's not the time to correct my language! Look um Seth, you need to take Lizzy and Masen to La Push...You go to Ethan!" Alice said quickly.

"Alice, what's going on?" I hissed at my sister frantically. She then goes to play back the vision in her head. I felt myself growl, which doesn't go unnoticed by the others. I look to see Lizzy and Masen seem confused by their aunt's vision as they read it as well.

"You got to be kidding me!" I grumbled as I ran my fingers through my hair. I can't believe they had the nerve to come here. Now! Of all the damned times-

"Edward? Alice? What's going on?" Rosalie asked slowly as she held the twins closer to her sides. I went to get up from my spot by Renesmee and looked towards Jake.

"Jacob you stay in this room with Renesmee and protect her got it," I ordered him.

"Of course," He answered firmly, even though he had no clue what was going on like the others.

"Daddy, what's going on?" Renesmee asked me. I could tell she was getting worked up and the pain was starting once again as she flinched a bit.

"Shhh Renesmee, look at me," I told her softly as I cup her face in my hands. "I want you to just relax. Everything's fine, we just have some visitors. That's all. I want you to just calm down, Jacob will be here with you. He will protect you."

Renesmee nodded in response as I motion to Jacob before turning to Seth and Ethan. They were standing by the doorway of Carlisle's office. Alice was ahead of me, thinking the same thing as she turned to look at them.

"Seth you need to take Lizzy and Masen out of here now! Ethan you too! It's not safe to be around here, they won't find you in La Push!" Alice hissed, trying to push them out of the house. Seth seems confused as he goes to phase once he reaches the outdoors.

"What's going on Alice?" Carlisle demanded, confused just like the rest of our family. Alice sighed as she turns to our father with a grim look.

"It's the Volturi."

A/N: Another Cliffhanger! Mahahaha (another lame attempt at an evil laugh.) Also I wanted to update today because...It's BELLA AND EDWARD'S ANNIVERSARY! YA! Even though the clock just struck midnight for me, I'm still celebrating. Lol. Anyway let's call this chapter an anniversary present of some sort. I'm going to try to update some of my stories either today or tomorrow for the occasion. I'll try to update tomorrow or Thursday, but no promises since I'm still kind of busy.
