Chapter 4
The first heist
High above the temple, Sly looked around the area and waited for a sigh that the everything was clear. The streets were usually silent at night but since the large amounts of heist by his relative the streets were crawling with guards. The guards looked like scarabs carrying torches, and others small jackals carried double crescent blades (abuses army). They were doing there seemingly usual paces around the temple and the streets. Sly continued scan the area and noticed all the clothing lines and how all the houses where connected in some way so he would not have to touch the ground and be seen.
He made a long leap to the nearest building and made his way to what look like one of the largest buildings in the area. He jumped and walked across ropes to get to what looked liked a large sandstone building with gold coloured trim at the foot of the large columns in the front. Some of the windows had what looked like cotton drapes and even plants. There was a few flickers of candle light in some of the rooms. Sly looked around and then realized the he forgot to get some sort of paper to create this map his relative wanted. He got make to his feet from his crouch position and thought for a few secs. He remember something Bentley had said about the Pharaohs back in the day had scholars that wrote about their stories on some sort of parchment. Now if he could find this parchment in the palace he could make a map easily.
Sly jumped quietly to the ground behind the guards and walked into the palace. The place had high ceilings and large hallways with candle holders running along the sides. On some of the sides hold large cloths with pictures of gods and the pharaohs though the years. Sly pasted a few rooms with golden decorations and places of worship. He finally came across a room with some sort of paper and started trying to draw something that looked like a map. He went through room to room trying to name what they were. He saw a few guards but he hid underneath tables or behind the cloths. He thinks he even hear some of them talking about setting up more traps and where they are storing high artifacts in the area.
Sly came across a large room with a bed, gold statues and everything that help exclaim royalty. There was someone on the bed sleeping soundly. Sly walked silently through the shadow and looked on top of some the chests to find something of value. He came across large golden necklace with a large yellow jewel in the middle with a bird surrounding it. He quickly put it into his pocket and thought of it as a way that he got the information through stealing than just getting a map. He finished the rest of the palace and started his way back to the base.
Jumping from roof to roof, watching the guards from down below, Sly missed his friends. He hope everyone was doing well but he wanted to see them, he want to see Carmelita. He wanted for things to go back as they were, like the good times. He knew he needed to find a way home and he was going to do anything he could to get that.
He could see the base in the distance and slid his way into the window right when the sun was just starting to set on the horizon. Slytunkhamen waiting sourly on his chair, for him to arrive.
"Well there you all. You rather took you time. Did you not?" He said.
"Yes sorry, I ran into some . . . dilemmas." Sly sightly bowed.
Slytunkhamen looked at him curiously. "A Cooper having problems, who would of thought. Now do you have anything to report." he said sternly.
Sly grasped the map and the necklace from his pocket and gave it to Slytunkhamen. He looked at curiously. " This is one of the king's most prized necklaces. How did you come to have such a piece in your possession?"
Sly almost smirked in response. "I am a thief of the great Cooper clan, I can take whatever I need."
Looking very impressed, he scanned over Sly once more and replied "You have surprisingly done well for the task and have proven your worth, Sly. Maybe you are what you said. What can you do for me in return? I can't let you stay here nor can you be seen with me. You were hired to catch me. So what will it be?"
Sly thought to himself for a moment "I could help with the cave. Gather supplies or something. I can roam around easily during the day with the pharaoh's seal. If there is anything you need, string, wood, gold, let me know."
Slytunkhamen nodded. "So be it Sly Cooper. Meet me tonight, I might have a job for you."
Sly jumped out of the window and headed towards the market to the hotel. He walked into his room, straight to his soft, warm bed. Falling slowly to sleep he could only think of his friends and his sweet heart, Carmelita Fox.
