Safe and Sound

(Bella's POV)

"The Volturi are coming here," Alice told us fearfully. The moment those words came out of her mouth, everyone in the room froze. We had just finished up with Lorenzo when Alice got a vision about the Volturi coming to the house. I don't know what they want, but I'm terrified. We just defeated Lorenzo and his coven today while almost loosing our daughter. Now the royal vampires were coming for us. Hopefully all they wanted was a talk.

I go to hold tight to Renesmee's hand when I heard the news. I don't think she was paying anymore attention because she was falling asleep. Her body was weak right now and I could tell all the excitement was wearing her out.

"Why are they coming?" Carlisle asked Alice.

"Look, I'll tell you once Lizzy, Masen, and Ethan are out of here! The Volturi don't know about their kind and it could mean big trouble!" Alice said before turning to Ethan. "Ethan, you and Seth must head to La Push, right now! They won't notice any of your scents because of all the scents around here from Lorenzo's coven along with the wolves. It'll mask it so you'll be safe. Now go!" Alice yelled at him. Ethan nodded at her as he heads out of the house towards Seth.

Edward shared a worried look with me and I go to clutch Lizzy tight to my body. Meanwhile Masen looked up at Edward with worried eyes. My husband sighed as he picked up our son in his arms.

"Daddy, what's going on?" Masen asked him.

"Nothing, you and Lizzy just have to go somewhere very quick with Seth and Ethan," Edward explained.

On that note I get up and get ready to carry my youngest daughter away.

Before I go I give Renesmee a quick kiss on the forehead and look warily at Jake. "Protect her," I told him fiercely.

"Always," Jacob answered. With that I then follow Edward and Masen out the backdoor of the house where Ethan and Seth are waiting. They are both ready to start running to La Push.

"Seth, Ethan, please stay safe. I'm trusting you with my children. And whatever you do, just keep running. Don't look back," Edward ordered them. I head over to Seth and place Lizzy on his back. He sends me a worried look and I go to pat his neck.

"Take care of them, Seth," I whispered to him. He nodded as Edward goes to place Masen on his back.

"Masen, I need you to put your mental shield up, okay?" Edward told our son gently. Masen nodded at us, but I could see the fear on his face. Lizzy looked up at us with tears in her eyes.

"Daddy? Momma? What's happening? Who are they?" Lizzy asked quietly. I was a bit shocked to hear her normal voice since she always communicated through her mind. I've heard her speak such little and each time I did hear her voice it sounded like bells.

"Lizzy, everything is going to be fine. I promise they will not get to you. Just be brave for me, angel," I told her, cupping her cheek.

"Seth and Ethan will protect you. Everything will be fine," Edward added.

She nodded at us she grips to Seth's fur. Ethan goes to put his shield around them while Masen's shield with Lizzy forms around them as well. Now they would be practically invisible from the Volturi- physically and mentally protected.

I watched with worried eyes as Masen held on tightly to his sister. They looked back at us one more time before Seth took off with Ethan towards LaPush.

Once I know our children are safe and out of sight, we go back into the house to join our family once again. That's when the Denali's also enter the home noticing the commotion going on.

"Edward, what's going on?" Tanya asked him. They had just finished up with burning the bodies and getting rid of any evidence that Lorenzo and his coven were here.

"The Volturi are coming here, right now," Edward explained to our cousins.

"Oh good god," Garrett groaned, rubbing his temples. The others Denali's either groan as well or frown in confusion.

"Why though? No laws were broken?" Kate questioned. She sounded pretty furious. The last time she saw the Volturi her sister was ripped to pieces, so I don't blame her for getting mad hearing that her sister's cold blooded killers were coming for a visit.

"They've been tracking Lorenzo down since Joham was killed," Alice filled in, coming into the room. "They'll just be questioning us. Just as long as we try to keep it civil we won't have any problems."

"How much long Alice?" Carlisle asked her.

"Not much, maybe a few minutes. We need to get out into outside now. Someone stay with Lily, Aidan, Jacob, and Renesmee," Alice barked out an order. I could tell she was very scared and nervous.

"I'll stay with Esme," Rosalie volunteered, stepping in front of her children and niece. We all nod as Edward, Alice, Emmett, Jasper, Carlisle, the Denali's, and I all rush outside and wait for the Volturi to appear at our front step.

"Bella, put you're shield up around the house," Carlisle instructed me. I nodded as I go to expand my shield around all of us, protecting us from the wrath of the witch twins. Also to keep our minds safe from Aro. They cannot find out about Lizzy, Masen, or Ethan. I won't allow them to hurt our family.

Edward goes to squeeze my hand with his, noticing my discomfort. I look up at my husband and send him a reassuring smile. He sends me a small one before turning to see seven black cloaks make their way across the property.

A chill ran up my spine. This scene was all too familiar. Two years ago we were set up on a large snowy field with the entire coven ready to kill us. Now it was only a few, but still. The leaders were here along with their guards.

When they finally stopped Aro himself was the first to step forward to greet us. Besides Aro, Marcus, Caius, Jane, Alec, Felix, and Demtri were also with him.

"Oh hello dear friends, it's been long!" He exclaimed, smiling a little too sweetly. I kept a straight face while Edward holds onto me tight. I stare Aro down just like the day they came for Renesmee two years ago. I also make sure to concentrate on keeping my shield up.

"What a surprise visit," Carlisle spoke up. His tone pleasant. "What do we owe the occasion, Aro?"

"I see your family killed Lorenzo's army," Aro said, looking around at us. We were all still pretty dirty and ruffed up from the battle.

"Yes. Lorenzo and his men are dead. He has been threatening our family for months now," Carlisle explained to them in a very sophisticated tone. "My family killed them all off. He was trying to kill my granddaughter and members of this family."

"I see, and I must say thank you for that. We've been trying to get a hold of him for quite some time now..." Aro trailed off as he started to look towards Carlisle's office.

"Why do I hear four heartbeats? Do you perhaps have new family members?" Aro mused with a smirk forming on his papery white face. Emmett growled slightly, but I think Jasper gave him some calming waves to cool him down. I don't blame Emmett, I would be doing the same thing if I was in his position.

"Are they human?" Caius added, frowning.

"We have two new family members, but they're not human. They're just like Renesmee and they are no harm," Carlisle told the vampire royals.

"Really? May I see them?" Aro asked, looking towards Emmett who starring him down. I watched as my bear of a brother shook his head and growled at Aro. I could even hear Rosalie growling inside of the house.

"You're not seeing my kids. They do not need to see any of you," Emmett snapped at him coldly.

"Emmett," Carlisle warned his son. I knew Carlisle meant well, he was just concerned of Emmett's well being, and that the Volturi won't try to hurt him or the kids. Knowing Carlisle, he doesn't want anymore fights today. He's always been the peacemaker.

"You know this could mean you're hiding something if you refuse to show us." Caius smirked at Emmett.

"They aren't, Aro, it's just that the children went through a lot today, and it isn't in their best interest of seeing you," Tanya spoke up harshly, defending our family.

"My daughter was hurt because of Lorenzo and they are just staying with their cousin. Do not bother any of them now," I decided to add icily.

"I had no clue young Renesmee was hurt," Aro said in a sickly sweet tone.

I notice Edward frowned as he looked at Aro. I wonder what he saw in Aro's mind because it seemed to set him off a bit. "Yes Renesmee was almost killed because of him," Edward stated, adding onto what I just said. "It's such a shame you that you weren't able to catch him. It could have prevented us all this trouble, and getting my daughter injured." My husband's tone was very cold. I could tell he wasn't having any of it right now.

"It was a shame," Caius chided, glaring daggers at my husband. I growl at him and step next to Edward as if I was ready to defend him from the guard.

"Edward, the Volturi would have done something if they knew Lorenzo was out to harm us," Carlisle scolded at his son. Edward nodded, only to pull me tighter to his side. I could feel a growl building up in his chest.

"We would still like to see the young ones," Aro demanded. Carlisle then sent his son a pleading look. Emmett growled, but sighed, giving in. I know he wasn't going to try anything that could harm the family.

"I'll get Rose to bring them out, but Renesmee stays in. She was hurt very badly," Emmett mumbled harshly. I smiled mentally at my big brother. I need to thank him later for that.

"There is no need to...Anyway I see she's still with that guard dog," Aro muttered. I huff at the fact Aro called Jake her guard dog. The nerve of him.

Emmett then went into the house to come out moments later with Rosalie. Lily and Aidan were both hiding behind Rosalie's legs.

"So these are the newest Cullen children. I take it they're not your own," Aro said to Rose and Emmett. Rosalie growled at him while Lily and Aidan whimpered. Emmett just stood still and put himself right in front of Rosalie and his children.

"They are mine, but if you mean I didn't give birth to them then no," Rosalie remarked. "They are my children, got it. And this is as far as you're getting," She snapped at him. I could see the murderous look in Rosalie's eyes, ready to attack if they came too close to the children.

"Well it's nice to meet you two," Aro said to the twins, grinning like a fool as he bent down to meet them at eye level. Lily and Aidan still clung to Rosalie and kept straight faces. Aro retracted, he seemed not to be interested anymore in the twins.

"Aro, we should be leaving now," Marcus announced.

"Yes we should. Thank you for your time," Aro told us. When they all left the area I felt a sigh of relief hit me. I felt bad for Lily and Aidan as they both still held onto their parents. They were still shaking in fear from their encounter with the Volturi.

I look towards Renesmee's room as we entered the home to see her sound asleep. I smile seeing her sleeping in peace, I just hate seeing her in pain. I wish I could just help her more somehow. Take her pain away. I then look to see Jacob was right by her side and he sends me a nervous look.

"It's over," I whispered to him. He breathes a sigh of relief as he leans back into his chair.

"I'll make sure Seth comes soon," Jacob told me as he took out his cell phone.

"Maybe wait a little," I mentioned, worried that the Volturi might come back and discover them.

"No he can!" Alice pipped up from behind me. "The Volturi are already past the boarder of Washington now! They have no intentions of coming back."

"So I take it that I can call him?" Jake said. I chuckled and nod for him to call Seth.

I head over to the living room where the others were. Edward was sitting down on the couch waiting for me. I smiled as I go to sit down on his lap.

"It's over," I whispered to him. He goes to hold me tight in his arms and I burry my face into his chest. I mumble into his shoulder, "They left and Lorenzo is dead."

"I know, but his thoughts! I wanted to murder him!" Edward growled, his grip on me tightened.

"What did he think?" I questioned, frowning in confusion. I gingerly begin to run my fingers through his bronze locks as an attempt to calm him down.

"He said 'it is such a shame about Renesmee' in his mind. He wanted her dead!" Edward blew up. "He knew Lorenzo was going to come for us! He knew it all!"

"Son, I know, but watch what you say to Aro. He won't hesitate in trying to harm any of us," Carlisle said gently to Edward. "I do not, as much as you, like what he pulled. But I won't risk our family. Especially after everything that's happened today."

"But he was planning this whole thing?" I growled. Some of the others were beginning to growl as well.

"One day I'll wring his neck myself!" Rosalie spat.

"I wouldn't mind a whack at him either," Kate added bitterly as Garrett tried to restrain his mate.

"I know, but for now let's try to relax. Renesmee needs all the rest she can get with her broken rib, and the kids have been through enough, and same goes for the rest of us. We'll deal with Aro later. I know this isn't going to be the last of him, but for now we are just going to live in peace," Carlisle said to all of us. I agreed, even though I wanted to rip Aro apart with my bare hands, I still couldn't agree more. Especially with Renesmee in her condition.

"Seth's here!" Alice announced in a chipper tone.

I smiled as I headed outside. When I approach them Lizzy is sound asleep in the now human Seth's arms while Ethan carries Masen. I couldn't help but grin seeing Masen interact with Ethan, talking to him like he was his brother. Maybe Ethan could stay for a little while. I mean he doesn't have anyone else in this world.

"Momma! Daddy!" Masen exclaimed as he ran to Edward and I. He runs into my arms and I plant a kiss on his cheek.

"Hey baby," I greeted him as he clung onto me. "Everything is fine now. I promise."

"Good." Masen smiled, burying his face into my neck.

"We went to my house. The other wolves were doing patrol so we were safe," Seth informed us. "In fact this little lady actually decided to fall asleep on Leah's lap." He snickered. I rolled my eyes as I give my future step brother a playful nudge. Now thinking about it, this was weird. Seth would be my step brother meanwhile he imprinted on Lizzy. Our family sure is a weird one. I just have to remember that we weren't blood related.

"Thanks Seth," I told him as he goes to place Lizzy in Edward's arms.

"It was no problem, after all I'm her imprinter." Seth smirked. I chuckled at him.

"Well I need to head home, see you guys! Call me if you need anything!" I wave at Seth with Edward as he phases back into a wolf and runs off into the distance. I go with Edward over to Renesmee's room where she was beginning to wake up again.

"Nessie!" Masen exclaimed, seeing his sister. I go to help my son up on top of the bed so he could snuggle his older sister.

Jake was still by her side, not letting go of her hand. I smile to see she is surrounded by her guys. I go to Edward's side and pick up our sleeping daughter. He wrapped his arms around the both of us as we watch the scene in front of us. All our children, together, safe, and happy.

"Momma? Can I go to a bed? It's kind of uncomfortable sleeping here," Renesmee mumbled tiredly to me.

"Sure baby girl," I said to her softly.

"And will you and Daddy stay with me?" She added, asking us quietly.

"We aren't going to go anywhere," Edward said as he went to kiss her temple.

We decide to move up to our room so Renesmee could be more comfortable. Edward went to scoop Renesmee up into his arms while I took Masen's hand and held a sleeping Lizzy in my other arm. Edward placed Renesmee in the bed and tucked her gently in the sheets.

"Daddy, hum. Please?" Renesmee begged Edward. He smiled at Renesmee and went to take a spot right by her and began to hum her lullaby. She smiled as she curled up to her father. I go to plant a kiss on her forehead before I headed over to the couch with my other two children. I had Lizzy curled up against my arm while half her little body was on my lap. Masen's head on my lap, letting his legs go across the couch, as he fell asleep as well. I didn't want to move them because I know they went through a lot today plus Renesmee deserved to have the whole bed to herself tonight.

Once Edward was sure Renesmee was asleep he went over to my side and wrapped an arm around me, placing Masen's feet on his lap. I leaned my head against his shoulder while I looked at Jacob sleeping on a cot we brought in for him on the floor.

"Looks like it's over," I breathed.

"It is. Everything is going to be fine from now on. I promise," Edward whispered to me.

And everything was going to be fine from now on. That night we didn't move from our spots and we wouldn't move until Renesmee woke up.
