"So the young child has been showing signs of having high spiritual powers, hmm…," Kaede raised a eyebrow to look at her pupil.

Kagome nodded as she separated different herbs by their own type. "Sango-chan had told me about the barrier that he had made when the village was attacked."

Rin was sitting beside the young inu-hanyou right by the priestesses as they were speaking about Makoto's powers, Kisara was in her arms and babbled to herself. The youngest child of Inuyasha and Kagome was so adorable it made her smile everytime she saw the young pup.

Kisara was only a month old, her snowy-white hair had dark black tips that were now visible and even her Inu-ears had black tips on them. Her blue eyes would widen at any interesting thing like flowers. Rin had plucked a flower that was next to her and placed it over the child's face. Kisara would lift her small hands, they would clench and unclench in attempt to get the flower from Rin.

"Then other day while we were here in the fields, he unleashed a powerful barrier. It disintegrated a snake demon that wanted to hurt us," Kagome answered. She didn't know how to describe what she had seen. Inuyasha was patrolling the forest grounds when that occurred.

Kagome switched her gaze from the herbs to her son who stared at her with a caring expression, she smiled warmly and continued on working.

"I see, I must admit that in all my days of living, I have yet not seen a half demon child possess sacred powers until now. Ye must know that priestesses do not marry, let alone have children, but it matters not with the people that have settled here, knowing that Inuyasha protects the village," Kaede glimpsed at the young boy who raised a finger in the air, showing Rin the butterfly that rested on it.

Sango walked towards the hut, surrounded by her children and smiled, noticing her best friend sitting with Kaede on the grass. "Good morning Kaede-sama, Kagome-chan," Sango said, holding Keiji in her arms. Tadashi was holding Sakura's and Haruka's hands until they let go when they noticed Kisara. They quickly raced to get next to the young pup.

"Sango-chan," Kagome brightened at seeing her come up and settle next to her. Tadashi walked over to Makoto and Rin, plopping down on to the ground then falling backwards to rest.

The twins attention diverted from Kisara to her older brother. "Makoto-chan!" Sakura and Haruka said happily, running over to the young inu hanyou that was about to make a dash towards his mother when he was tackled on the floor by the dog ear loving girls.

"Girls be careful with him!" Sango scolded her daughters, they nodded and helped the poor boy up. Makoto was wide eyed and dirt covered his cheeks.

"Gomen Makoto-chan," the twins apologized to him. He crossed his arms and smirked, but it soon faded when he smelt salt water.

His ears flattened against his head and inwardly sighed, he twitched them on purpose to get their attention. At the little movements on his head, both girls laughed at how they moved, they couldn't resist the urge to rub the cute puppy dog ears. They were just so fuzzy!

Sakura held back a squeal, but her sister didn't and latched a hand onto the boy's ear. "No tugging," he first told them. Both girls nodded in agreement and continued on rubbing them.

"Kaede-sama isn't it earlier for him to start training? He's only a year and a few months old," Kagome asked her mentor. Confused over the fact that Kaede would want her son to train.

"Ay child. Tis early for young Makoto to train, however he could practice to make a barrier," Kaede informed her, gathering the herbs and placing them in the basket.

Kagome looked over to her son, worried that it could hurt him if he unleashed spiritual energy around him and his sister, it could purify them both. She bit the bottom of her lip nervously. "It'll be fine Kagome," Kaede said, putting a hand on her student's arm.

"Thank you Inuyasha-sama," the village men had said, bowing to him in thanks. Inuyasha wasn't use to them thanking him, but he nodded in return.

A hand clamped on his shoulder and he noticed it was Miroku's hand. "You are welcome fellow men, now we must leave to return to our families, if you need anything..ask Inuyasha," Miroku said with a sly grin.

A vein pressured in the Inu-Hanyou's head and he let out a sigh, folding his arms and trailing behind his friend. "Monk why'd you say I have to do things, it's usually you."

Miroku smiled at his friend,"All in good time my friend, all in good time."

Inuyasha arched a brow, not knowing what the hell to say to that.

Suddenly Miroku stopped and turned his head to the right, eyes narrowing in thought, the grip on his staff and seriousness of his face was shown. Inuyasha tilted his head slightly to the side. "What's wrong?"

"There's something. Coming from the direction where the fields are, but I can not explain what it is," Miroku said.

Inuyasha looked in the direction, he didn't smell any demons in the area,"Then what the hell are we standing around here for." With that being said, he dashed towards where Miroku had said.

Miroku was close by him, running just a few feet behind. The two men stopped when Miroku had said that there was a glowing shimmer around the clearing.

"We had nothing to worry about Inuyasha," the said Inu-Hanoyu heard Miroku say. "It is a barrier and it is your son's doing." Miroku touched the barrier and he hissed in pain.

"Keh, I bet it repels perverts," Inuyasha said, smirking in amusement. "How cruel to say," Miroku rubbed his red hand and groaned at the aching pain. "I haven't done such a thing for years."

Inuyasha harrumphed at the monk's words. "Yeah right."

"Focus and ye must have complete concentration," Kaede said softly to the young Inu-Hanyou. Makoto nodded and inhaled air through his nose. "That's it," Kaede said.

Then something sparked in the young half demon's aura, his brows narrowed then relaxed.

"Amazing," Kagome watched as the barrier appeared just out of nowhere and they were inside a green bubble.

Sango and the children stared in awe. "Yay Makoto-chan!" Sakura shouted, but was shushed by her twin sister. Rin was busy with Kisara who seemed to be paying attention to the green glow above their heads, she tried reaching out to it - as if it were a toy - and then settled on pulling the teenaged girl's hair.

"Indeed," Kaede noticed how concentrated the young Inu-Hanyou was. Makoto had his eyes closed tightly in concentration. He thought of protecting his mother, his sister, the thought of the worry he gets when his father is fighting demons.

Suddenly, he felt a familiar aura - his father was nearby, he knew he had to put down the barrier. The question was, how?

Makoto felt a hand on his head, rubbing his ears to relieve him from the stress and he opened his eyes to see his mother smiling at him.

The barrier had vanished at the sudden feeling of safety and protection that his mother showed him in just a simple smile. That smile and the look of care in her eyes made him feel sheltered.

"You did well sweety, I'm so proud of you," Kagome enveloped him in a hug. Makoto laughed and placed his head in the crook of her neck.

Now that he knew how to put up a barrier, he'd do it to protect the ones he cared and loved. He'd have to remind himself to thank Kaede-baba later.
