It was a pleasant day, the sun was shining, the birds chirped in the distance. A young mother chased her energetic son around their home.

"Makoto! Settle down, you have to put them on!" Kagome said, trying to catch her son that would sneakily get away from her grasp.

"Oi!" Inuyasha had swiped him off the floor and held Makoto by his haori. Kagome raised her arms in an attempt to stop her husband from holding him in such a manner, but he then placed the boy down back onto his feet.

"Listen to your Okaa-san," Inuyasha folded his arms across his chest and stared at his son with a look that made the boy accede.

"Sorry Okaa-san," Makoto looked at his feet in dismay. Kagome saddened at the puppy dog face that her son made and brought him in his arms in one second.

"Woman, how do you expect him to learn if all you do is hug him," Inuyasha said to his wife.

Kagome shook her head,"Aw, you can stay made at his puppy face, Makoto show your father," Kagome said to her son.

Makoto gazed from his mother to his father and gave him his puppy dog face. Inuyasha gaped at his son and then placed a scowl, growling while he walked to where Kisara was laying down.

"Your Okaa-san and Onii-chan are trying to gain up on me," he muttered, gazing down at his three month year old daughter. Kisara kicked her feet and waved her hands up to him. Her action made the corners of his lips curl up into a smile.

"I bet get goin' Miroku must be waitin' outside now, we're suppose to be headed to help build huts today," Inuyasha informed Kagome as he tore his gaze from his daughter.

Kagome smiled,"Alright, but make sure that you'll be here for lunch, I'll be making rice balls," she said, lifting Makoto into the air and smiling up at him.

Inuyasha nodded and gave her a quick kiss goodbye and dashed out. "Say sweety, do you want to help out with the chores? We must get Kaede-baa-chan some herbs from the fields."

Makoto sighed,"Mama, we always get Kaede-obaa-san herbs."

Kagome laughed,"I know, I know, but it is to help those who are sick." She placed him on the floor and went to retrieve the baby carrier, placing the straps around her arms and chest.

"Let's go, ne?" Looking at her son, extending her hand out so she can hold his. She did a last minute check on the sleeping Kisara on her back. Kagome didn't forget to take her bow, she knew that Inuyasha would lecture her if she didn't take it.

Rin was in the fields and plucking flowers and assembling them together, she smiled contently to herself, humming a tune from long ago. "Rin-chan!"

Her head looked up to see Makoto running to her, Rin laughed and watched the Inu-Hanyō skid to a stop once reaching her.

Makoto turned his head to the side,"Rin-chan, whose are these for?" He had noticed that she'd do the same thing every other week or month.

He noticed a tinge of red on her cheeks and thought she was sick when she had quietly said that it was for a friend she had wanted to see. Makoto scrunched his nose at the smell, it was pleasant, but he had also smelt her blood when Rin had pricked her finger on a thorn. Like his father, Makoto couldn't stand the smell of blood of those he cared about.

Rin hummed to herself and smiled when she gazed at the young boy next to her, playing with the flowers and sniffing them. He sneezed a few seconds after and threw it to the ground.

Rin laughed at his action, causing him to look up and smile. "Makoto-chan, you're so cute," Rin said, putting the flowers together and weaving the stems.

His ears picked up the shuffling of feet and men muttering words under their breaths. Makoto looked over his shoulder and noticed a man wearing the same attire that his Uncle Miroku would wear, stood peering down at him with a serious look on his face. There were several men standing behind him in a group.

"This is only just a child," one of the men had said in a low whisper. Makoto watched as the main leader raised a hand in the air.

"It looks like a child, but do you not notice the ears and hair and its eyes," the monk had said loud that Kagome turned her head over her shoulder to see that they had company. The way he had said 'its' made the young Inu-Hanyō flinch.

The monk took a step forward and Makoto growled at him, in a way to tell him to not come any closer. Either way, he had formed a barrier around himself so that this stranger would get near.

"Impossible," was the word he heard that came out from the monk's mouth.

Kagome got up with Kisara in her arms, she was puzzled that these monks would appear so suddenly. She knew she had seen them before, the head monk was Ungai, the one they encountered years ago.

"Priestess," Kagome stopped once she had reached feet away from them. Makoto turned to look at his mother and he got up quickly and hid behind her legs, clutching on her red pants. Kagome placed a hand over his head and smiled at him before looking up to meet the monk's eyes.

"Ungai-sama, it is a pleasure to see you once more," she said nonchalantly. She feared that he would try to hurt her children, and she wouldn't let him or his followers dare lay a finger on them.

"So my suspicions were correct," he arched a brow slightly, he eyed the priestess that stood in front of him,"You were the girl I had encountered when a village's children had disappeared, were you not?"

Kagome nodded and still stared at him fiercely. Ungai was merciless when it came to demons.

"You should know that it is not wise to harbor demon children in a village such as this one," Ungai said strictly, his brows furrowing when he noticed the priestess in front of him push the child to shield him away.

Kagome furrowed her brows and stood her posture,"They will not do any harm, they are just children."

Makoto still hid behind his mother as she held Kisara closer to her. He whimpered at the spiritual power that the monk or how his mother had called him, Ungai - was releasing, he could tell that he was sending looks in his way. He had the urge to stick his tongue out, but it would be very disrespectful and he knew better to upset a monk.

"It is not the way of a priestess to detain demons here, you are going against what you know," Ungai narrowed his eyes at her. The men behind him positioned in diagonals by his side.

Kagome's eyes widened and gripped tightly on her bow. "I suggest not doing anything rash Ungai-sama," she and the others were not aware that Miroku had come by along with Inuyasha trailing behind him.

"Papa," Makoto said quietly and rushed over to his father. Inuyasha's look did not falter, both he and Miroku would have known that Ungai would have done something to his children.

Rin remembered the man and without doubt, he knew them as well.

"Houshi-sama, we meet again I see. And still trusting your demon companions as well," Ungai gazed over to Inuyasha who's look competed with his own.

"They do not cause trouble here. So, you may continue your leave Ungai-sama, there is nothing here that is disrupting peace," Miroku stated.

Ungai gazed over to Kagome and the sleeping girl in her arms,"Perhaps not, I was mistaken when I sensed a demonic aura here." He switched his gaze to Rin, knowing that the demon lord that she followed was around the area.

"We shall take care of it," Miroku said. "Very well, see to it then," Ungai said, he turned around and his men quickly followed.

The monk looked back at the group, his eyes fixed on the Inu-Hanyō child that was on the ground staring back at him. "Hm."

"Ungai-sama, should we dispose of them? We do not know what will happen if we let their kind live, it is not everyday that a demon such as that child, possesses spiritual power," one of his followers said. Ungai raised a hand,"No, we will not do such a matter as that. It's best we be on our way."

"Yes," the men bowed and they had settled off.
