"Mako," Kisara peeked from the door and watched her brother tiptoeing towards their father's sword.
It was nearing her first birthday and she was getting better at controlling her powers. In one case, her uncle had helped her when she was showing signs of poison claws.
The power had surprised both of her parents, but the unmistakable green glow on her finger tips had showed that she must have inherited it from her Ojii-sama, her grandfather - the great Inu no Taisho.
She was starting to control her father's iron reaver soul stealer power, or at least it was similar to the power that her father had. Inuyasha had told her that she'd need to channel her yōki through her claws in order to use the power she was beginning to develop.
"Shhhh," Makoto hissed at her and trying to reach for the handle of the mighty steel fanged sword. Kisara sat on the floor in a cross-legged position with her hands in the gap.
"Papa said not to touch tetsu…tetsu..," her brows furrowed in trying to pronounce the name tetsusaiga, but she gave up.
"Well, be a good little girl and don't say anything- I can almost-" Makoto could've taken the hilt of the sword, but was interrupted by his sister's talking.
"You arwe gowing to break something," she said singingly, he glared at her over his shoulder. Her speaking sounded so cutely to those who heard her, her voice still held the baby voice when she would talk.
The almost-two year old growled in annoyance, much like his father, then continued on to reaching the sword. "Almost there and-"
"Mako, papa said not to touch it!" Kisara said, leaning forward in her sitting position, and waving a small clenched fist in the air. A vein pressured in her brother's forehead and he growled again.
"Shut up," he snarled at her, hitting the palm of his hand on the wooden floor. Her dog ears flattened against her head, just as her eyes squinted at her brother's semi-shout.
"Why arwe you being so mean!" Kisara cried out, drawing out fake tears, like she had always done.
Makoto groaned and scratched his head,"You're gonna get us both in trouble. Haha-ue told you to stay with her in the meadow, I would've been there by now, I only told her I needed something to eat. And right now, haha-ue is going to be very worried that we're not there."
"Well it's your fault," Kisara told him, smiling at her brother with a knowing look.
Makoto growled at her,"Did anyone tell you that you're such an annoying brat!" Turning his back on her. He didn't notice the sheer look of pain on his sister's face.
The two siblings backs were turned against each other. Kisara clenched her fist, refusing to cry about what he said. They were startled to death when their father barged into the room with a stern look.
"Oi! Makoto, apologize to your sister. You aren't suppose to be fighting with each other, now the both of you treat each other like a brother and a sister should!" Inuyasha scolded the both of them.
"I'm not apologizing at all," Makoto turned around, crossing his arms and pursing his lips.
"Makoto!" he then heard his mother shout at him. His ears lowered and his arms loosened only a bit. "I'm not going to and besides it would've been better if I had a brother, not a sister."
Kisara gaped at his words and she turned around to look at him, her face paled and she slowly ran out of the room. "Kisara," Kagome pivoted to get her.
Inuyasha rubbed his temples,"Why would you say such a thing?"
Makoto knew he was in trouble, he didn't mean to say it, but the words just flew out of his mouth. "I- …I don't know," he said to his father, looking down at his fingers that trembled.
His father sighed and knelt down beside him,"What were you two doing here anyway? When your mother said that she didn't see Kisara, she was very afraid that something happened."
"Kisara followed me to the hut, I would've been by mama's side in ten seconds, but she followed me and I-" Makoto stopped speaking and twiddled his thumbs.
"Now for what reason would you be in here?" Inuyasha arched a brow in questioning. He was in the back of the hut cutting the trees to make wooden logs for the fire at night.
"I-" Makoto's eyes drifted to tetsusaiga and Inuyasha smirked. "You know, it'll be while before you can lift the sword. But, you won't use it until I let you."
Makoto nodded and then his ears picked up his sister's cries. The young Inu-Hanyō looked at the door and then at his father. "Did you at Sesshoumaru-Oji-sama argue?"
"Keh, we argued, a lot but," Inuyasha rubbed the back of his neck, he couldn't possibly tell his son that they'd try to kill each other, he sighed. Placing a clawed hand on his son's shoulder.
"Even though we argued, we still…in some weird way, even if the guy can't admit, cared for each other," Inuyasha told him. Remembering the time they were fighting So'unga and Sesshoumaru took a blow that could've killed him. Miroku and Sango was the ones who told him, and he didn't believe it at first.
"Kisara must hate me know," Makoto said, his ears drooped as he said the words, he was afraid that his sister wouldn't forgive him.
"Keh, that's stupid and you shouldn't talk about such things. Of course she'll forgive you, but you need to apologize first pup, now go and do it." Inuyasha softly pushed his son to the door and moved his head to motion him forwards.
Makoto nodded and left the room to peak into the room where his sister slept. "Mako?" his sister said, sniffling and rubbing her eyes. Kagome was rubbing her daughter's back when she noticed her son standing by the doorway and her husband just feet behind him.
Inuyasha jerked his head to the side and Kagome slowly got up and made her way to him. Patting her son on the head softly just before leaving the room.
The two siblings were left alone to apologize to one another. Makoto shuffled uneasily on his feet. "Kisa.." the nickname he had given her,"I'm sorry."
What made him utterly confused and slightly upset, was when she bursted into laughter and she fell back on the floor.
"Hey! I'm trying to apologize and stop laughing!" he said, but his lips twitched into a smile and he couldn't help but laugh along with her.
"Mako, you look like a…a puppy with that face!" Kisara said, laughing some more. "Well aren't'cha going to say that you forgive me?" Makoto questioned.
Kisara scratched her head,"Umm…nope."
That had left Makoto silent, he didn't expect her to say no, leaving him to look dejected and saddened. "Mako, you know that I'm joking," Kisara pointed out.
Makoto harrumphed and turned his head to the side, stubbornly putting his nose in the air,"Well you didn't have to sound so mean about it."
Kisara got on her feet and tumbled to him,"You were mean too…do you really want a brouther and not me?" she asked.
"I didn't mean that, it just came out, sorry." Kisara smiled brightly at him and she clapped her hands.
"Do you think we can have a little sister? I want a sister," she said. Makoto frowned,"If mama would have a baby in the future, I'd like it to be a boy."
Kisara crossed her arms,"Girl."
"Boy."
"A GIRL!"
"BOY!"
"GIRL!"
"BOY AND I'M NOT GOING TO REPEAT MYSELF!"
"GIRL! AND STOP SCREAMING AT ME!"
"YOU'RE HURTING MY EARS KISARA!"
"THEN YOU STOP!"
"YOU STARTED IT!"
"DID NOT!"
"DID TOO!"
Kagome sighed," Well it looks like things are back to normal." Inuyasha nodded and scratched his head, then smiled,"Maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing to complete their wish."
Kagome arched a brow,"Hm…then you try having a baby, I won't, not yet anyway," she patted his shoulder and went to make lunch.
The people in the village looked around. Sango smiled and laughed to herself,"The memories."
