[A/N: I finally updated. I know it took a lot a lot a lot longer than usual, but I've had absolutely no muse for this story, but it's finally come back to me. Hopefully it won't take me this long to update again. If you're familiar with the story of Pinocchio you can probably guess the chapter after this one. Anyway without further ado please enjoy the chapter!]
The new world that they landed in reminded Juliet of Disney Town. It was brightly colored and lights strung about and there was the joyful yells of children off in the distance. Unlike Disney Town however this world was dark instead of bright sunny. She looked over at Akio and Clementine who were looking around the world and pulled the map out of her back pocket. "Looks like we're in Prankster's Paradise."
Akio looked around the world for a few seconds. "Doesn't this place remind you of Disney Town?" He noticed that Clementine was looking at him in confusion. "We were there before we met you."
Clementine took a few steps forward. "Do you think we landed here at night time? It's so dark."
Juliet refolded the map and put it away. "It might be dark here all the time. It's dark all the time in Traverse Town too." She could hear the sound of the laughter getting louder. "We should have a look around. I mean there aren't any of the seven pure lights around here doesn't mean we can't poke around a little."
Clementine looked over in confusion at Juliet. "I thought you didn't know where the seven pure lights are." She saw Juliet look away and put her hands on her hips. "Is there something you're not telling us?"
"Well….when I was Timeless River some time back before we met you I met someone who spilled the beans on where the six other seven pure lights are."
"You never told us where the first one was."
"I didn't? She was a little girl in Radiant Garden. I think her name was Kairi or something like that."
"So, where are the other six pure lights?" Clementine hadn't put in much thought to why they were looking for the seven pure lights, but now she was starting to get interested. She waited a few seconds with an expectant look on her face. "So where are they?"
Juliet began to walk in the direction of the children's yells. "Besides Radiant Garden they're in Wonderland, Beast's Castle, Enchanted Dominion, Dwarf Woodlands, Castle of Dreams, and Agrabah."
Clementine started after her. "So why don't we just go to those worlds?"
"Because I don't know who they are so there's really no point in rushing to those worlds. Besides I think it's more interesting to explore other worlds too."
Akio had been thinking about Erik for the past few minutes. "So what would Erik think if he knew you weren't taking this as seriously as possible?" He saw her face go white.
"I hadn't thought about that. Well he doesn't know won't hurt him."
As they walked down the lit pathway they came onto the entrance of what looked like a giant amusement park. Clementine and Juliet were looking around in excitement while Akio had his usual look of suspicion. "This place doesn't seem right."
Remembering that Akio had been right last time he'd had a feeling like this Juliet slowed her pace. "Maybe there's something to that Akio. Do you have some kind of sixth sense when it comes to danger?"
Akio laughed dryly. "Sure that's me. I've got physic powers when it comes to trouble."
Walking through the amusement park Juliet looked from the brightly colored lights to the various attractions which included a bar, a luxury home, and a figure passing out cigars. "I wonder what all these kids are doing here?" As she continued to look around she saw that only little boys were around and seemed to be having the time of their lives by destroying the house and smoking cigars. "I guess maybe if you're a rowdy little boy a place like this could be fun."
"Hey watch where you're stepping." The voice was small and slightly high pitched and was coming from almost beneath Juliet's foot.
"Oh sorry about that." Juliet moved her foot to see a little cricket wearing a suit and top hat looking up at her. She crouched down to that she was more at eye level with the cricket and her put her hands out so that he could jump into them. "We're new around here. Do you know what all these kids are doing here?"
The cricket jumped into her hands and was brought up so that they were eye level. "I'm looking for a little puppet named Pinocchio."
Akio raised an eyebrow. "You're looking for a puppet?"
"That's what I said isn't it? His name is Pinocchio and I'm his conscious Jiminy Cricket." Jiminy jumped up onto Juliet's shoulder. "Why don't you young people help me look for him?"
Juliet looked back at Akio and Clementine and shrugged. "I guess it couldn't hurt to take a look around here." Even though there were none of the seven pure lights around it looked like this world could still be interesting to look around.
In the dark behind them lurked a woman in red.
The park was abuzz with excitement as boys scurried around going from the luxury house to the bar and then around to the figure passing out cigars. As they walked through the amusement park Clementine found herself getting distracted by the bright lights and different attractions. She looked over at the bar where she heard voices and walked over to it.
Neither Juliet nor Akio had noticed that Clementine had gone off on her own. "Jiminy, what do you mean by you're Pinocchio's conscious," asked Akio.
"The Blue Fairy made Pinocchio come to life after his Father Geppetto wished for a son and gave Pinocchio life, but Pinocchio is a bad boy and needs someone to be his conscious so the Blue Fairy picked me." His chest swelled with pride at this.
Juliet walked up the steps of the luxury house. "This seems like a good place to start looking."
The inside of the house looked like it had once been pristine fit for a king really, but now the walls were stained with some unknown substance, tables and chairs were lying about in broken pieces, and the rest of the furniture was smashed.
Propping the door open Juliet was nearly smacked backwards by a chair that came sailing her way. She clenched her fist, but opened it again when she heard a gasp from Jiminy. "Sorry about that."
"Duck," Jiminy squeaked from within Juliet's grasp.
Juliet quickly ducked when a table leg swung her away nearly smacking Clementine in the head. She looked back at Clementine and Akio. "I think we should go look somewhere else. It isn't safe here." As she shut the door there was the sound of another furniture piece hitting the door.
Once they were safely out of the vicinity of the luxury home Juliet turned back to Akio and Clementine. "I think this would go smoother if we split up. Akio why don't you go over to the Indian passing out cigars and I'll go look in the bar. Clementine look around the amusement park." She waited until she saw Akio and Clementine go off before turning and heading to the bar.
Akio walked over to the cigar passing Indian only to be nearly run over by young boys clamoring for their smoky treats. He leaned over and tapped a boy on the shoulder. "Would you happen to know where a boy named Pinocchio is?"
The boy looked over at Akio as he puffed on his cigar. "Never heard of anyone named Pinocchio."
Sighing Akio turned to go when he felt the boy pluck at his sleeve. He looked down to see the boy smiling coyly up at him; his dark eyes misted over. "So, you have a girlfriend?"
"Um, no…." Since Akio thought of himself as little more than a computer program he wasn't interested in anything the boy was pitching. "I'm going to go now."
"Oh poo." The boy huffed before turning his attention elsewhere.
Akio brushed off the shiver that went up his spine. "Well that was most certainly one of the weirder things I've experienced. Guess I better go find Juliet and Clementine and tell them that I didn't find anything."
Meanwhile Clementine was having a great time. She had found a group of boys who wanted somebody to play with and was back in the luxury house breaking furniture and drinking heavily from a bottle in a brown paper bag. She wiped her hand with the back of her hand and hiccupped. "Oh that's some good stuff." Clementine took another long swig before getting up from the table she'd been sitting on swaying slightly.
A gangly blonde walked over to Clementine and offered her a cigar. "Want a cigar, sweet heart?"
"I would love one." Clementine accepted the cigar waiting a minute for the boy to light it up. She inhaled then exhaled slowly, but coughed as the smoke caught in her throat. She heard the boy who'd given her the cigar laugh and scowled at him. "Shut up will you I'm not used to smoking." Not noticing that the boy was gawking at her Clementine took another swig of alcohol. "What are you staring at?"
"Ears…." The boy was touching his own ears to make sure they were still there. "They're so big and pointy."
Clementine cocked her head to the side. "What about my ears?" She walked away from the boy revealing that she had a tail swinging behind her. As she walked past a full length mirror (there was a large crack in it) Clementine did a double take and stopped right in front of it. Her hands went up to trace down the side of two long grey donkey ears that had sprouted up where her ears had been and there was swishing coming from behind her. Clementine reached behind her and pulled at a donkey tail that she hadn't noticed before. She continued to stare at herself for a couple more seconds before letting out a high pitched scream and running from the house.
Dodging and ducking around boys who were still having a good time Clementine saw several donkeys being herded off towards a gate. Trying to be as inconspicuous as possible she followed the man with the donkeys only stopping when the gate shut in front of her. She noticed a crack in the gate and peeked through it to see a large old man wearing a black hat and a red jacket holding a whip in front of a bunch of donkeys that were still wearing clothes. Clementine wasn't able to hear what he was saying, but whatever it was it wouldn't bode well for her or any of the other kids who turned into donkeys. Oh this is not good this is not good at all. What am I going to do? She turned around to leave when she nearly ran into Juliet and Akio.
At first Juliet wasn't surprised to see the donkey ears and tail, but when it did dawn on her it smacked her hard in the face. "Clementine, what have you been doing? I thought only jackasses got the ears and tail."
Clementine was blushing furiously and pulled on her ears. "I was just messing around I didn't expect this would happen." She thought now would be a good time to change the subject. "Did you guys find Pinocchio?"
Juliet was about to respond when she heard footsteps behind them and looked back to see the familiar woman in red striding towards them. "What was her name…..what did Erik call her? Oh, that's right she's Antonia."
Antonia had thick fluffy black hair that covered one of her eyes and fell to her waist. Her pale stomach was exposed under an open red blouse with ruffled sleeves. She ignored Juliet and Akio walking over instead to Clementine and plucked at one of her donkey ears. "You are you one adorable little jackass."
Attempting to bat Antonia's hand away Clementine winced as she felt the grip on her ear tighten.
The sound of Clementine's whimpering didn't seem to deter Antonia at all. Instead of letting go she pulled hard on the ear causing another pained whimper. "It serves you right for being a jackass. You deserve to have these ears."
Even though Clementine had made a jackass out of herself Juliet didn't like what Antonia was doing and aimed the Keyblade at her. "You better let go of her ear."
Antonia looked over at Juliet with a board look on her face. "Or you'll do what little key bearer?" She quickly darted backwards as the Keyblade swung out at her nearly missing her head. "Oh so you want to play do you little key bearer?"
"You need to leave us alone."
"Make me."
Juliet sighed and advanced towards Antonia with Akio coming up behind her. "Fine, if you won't leave on your own I'll make you leave."
Antonia grumbled under her breath as she took a step back. "So you want to play rough do you? Fine, I can play rough." She raised one of her arms and flicked her wrist.
Juliet's eyes flickered skyward when she noticed that the stars had gone out. What has she done to the stars? "You think the dark is going to scare us?"
"Oh no not the dark necessarily, but what comes out of the dark will scare you." A toothy grin came to Antonia's lips as she watched Wraiths start to materialize out of the darkness. "Let's see if you can handle the children of the dark."
Juliet swung her Keyblade out at an envy monkey and tried to force her way through the coming onslaught of Wraiths to get to Antonia who had turned her back. "Come back you coward. Come back and fight us."
Antonia stopped in her tracks and turned back around to face Juliet; her teeth bared and her eyes flashing dangerously. "What did you call me?"
Akio looked between Juliet and Antonia as he batted another Wraith away. "Juliet, don't make her mad. If you make her mad something bad is going to happen."
Choosing to ignore Akio, Juliet took another step forward smacking away a Wraith. "You heard me. You're a coward." She had to jump backwards as Antonia launched herself forward she that they were nose to nose.
"Say it again. I dare you."
This wasn't exactly the scenario Juliet had played out in her head. She had actually thought that Antonia would keep walking, but now they were eye to eye. "You're a coward for thinking you could run." Juliet felt a blast of dark magic hit her in the stomach and knock her down onto her back.
Antonia's face was flushed and her teeth were bared. With a wave of her hand she had the Wraiths vanish before turning her attention back to Juliet. "Now you've gone and made me mad and you know what that means right?" She walked forward and seized Juliet by the ponytail pulling her up. "I'm going to have to teach you a lesson."
Clementine cast a thunder spell at Antonia, but when it hit her she only seemed to absorb it. Frustrated she cast a blizzard spell, but like before Antonia only absorbed it. "Why aren't my spells working?"
Tossing Juliet aside Antonia turned her attention to Clementine. "Because I'm made of dark magic, duh." She exhaled and ran a hand through her hair. "I feel better." With a snap of her fingers the Wraiths returned. "Now why don't you stay here and play with my pets."
Juliet tried to get up, but was holding her stomach after being knocked down. "Where are you going coward don't you want to fight us."
Summoning a black portal Antonia turned one more time to face Juliet. "Don't worry sweet heart we'll see each other again real soon."
Falling down again Juliet stayed seated for a few seconds before struggling to her feet not noticing that Jiminy had gone under the crack in the gate. "I'm hoping we don't run into her again. Antonia seems like she's pretty dangerous."
Jiminy reappeared as Juliet got up. "You guys need to get out of here especially you." He was pointing at Clementine. "It looks like the Coachmen turns boys into donkeys to sell them off."
This was all the prompting Juliet needed she summoned her Keyblade and had it shift into its glider form. "Good luck with Pinocchio, Jiminy."
"Thanks, I'm going to need it.
