"So the rascal is now two isn't he?" Totosai said, craning his head up, thinking long and hard.

"Yes, young Makoto is two and Kisara is turning one years old. Funny how time goes by," Myoga said, crossing his four arms and nodding continuously.

"Eh? He had another one?" the swordsmith question the flea that sat on his shoulder. His eyes went to the sweat-beaded Myoga who chuckled. "Yes, Master Inuyasha has a daughter named Kisara, I thought you knew."

"Kisara hm…his daughter? Who is the mother again?"

Myoga groaned, Totosai was getting older, being the thousands of years he had lived.

"Rin-chan, why do you always look up at the sky?" Kisara wondered, looking up at the blue sky that had a few clouds, and small birds that would fly above them.

"Just waiting," she had heard Rin say and Kisara's brows furrowed in confusion. "Waiting for what?" Kisara asked her. Rin giggled to herself and smiled at the almost one-year old Inu-Hanyō.

Her blue eyes blinked rapidly, waiting for a response from the fourteen year old. The ground started to shake and the two girls exchanged looks of bewilderment.

Kisara turned her head to see a small serpent gliding in the air, its jaw wide open, showing its five inch razor sharp teeth headed for them. A normal child her age would've shuddered and shouted for help or cried, but she had demon blood in her veins and she grinned in anticipation. Even if her claws were small, although, they were sharper and a half inch longer than a regular child's nails.

Kisara heard Rin gasp and take her hand. "I knew it wasn't good for us to be out here without Kagome-sama or Inuyasha-sama, where is-"

"Onii-chan!" Kisara shouted, using her other hand to cup her mouth, calling her older brother. A few seconds after she shouted, a flash of silver and red zipped past them, claws raised threatening and deadly, even the angered growls were heard.

The two year old boy landed just after cutting the flying serpent in half, his claws digging into the ground just after his feet touched the ground. His head was bowed down, unable to see his face, being covered by his white locks that were in the way.

"Makoto-chan," Rin said, completely startled in seeing the boy appear out of nowhere like thin air.

The said boy stood up and was half her size, he smiled a smile that compared to his father. Rin smiled back and thanked him for slaying the demon.

"Papa said that I should be watching you Kisara," Makoto said, crossing his arms, with his eyes closed while nodding.

"But I'm a big girl," Kisara stomped on her foot to make a statement, she pursed her lips and pouted. She wasn't a baby, she was strong, even her father said it!

"But you are still a baby," Makoto declared and turned around to start walking away to his favorite branch. The boy was truly like his father.

"I am not," she retorted and fumed, crossing her legs to sit on the ground,"I'm no baby."

Rin giggled and sat next to Kisara, then smoothed out her long orange skirt - similar to the one Sango-san had - and patted her head.

"You are no baby Kisara-chan, but you are still a baby to your Okaa-san and Otou-san," Rin had said to her. "They wouldn't want anything to happen to you Kisara-chan," the teen had enveloped the girl in her arms, squishing her in a hug. "You are just too cute!"

Kisara started to laugh and then the earth shook again, but her ears twitched to hear deep voice and her fuzzy appendages caught some words. "Look, something to eat," someone had said.

Her eyes shifted to the bushes that shook and were torn into shreds when huge claws tore it apart. "Ah, now this is what we're talking, just a puny half breed and a ningen," the demon said.

Half breed? Kisara thought. She definitely knew what a ningen was, she had heard her uncle call her mother that once. Although, as young as she was, that particular word made her flinch subconsciously. She managed to get on her feet when Rin jumped on her feet, tugging on her hand so they can start to run.

Makoto heard the commotion and he sat up, hidden from view behind the leaves provided by the tree, he then watched his sister and Rin run away. The demons stand there and he sees that the girls go in separate ways. Stupid, he thinks, knowing that Kisara would try to run home, but she doesn't know her way around the forest and Rin heads off to the village to seek for Kaede or his mother's help.

Noticing the demons starting to whisper and wanting to separate to catch the both of them, he kneels on the branch and leaps into the air. His foot sticking out to land on the demon.

"Run stupid!" Makoto shouts and lands a surprise kick on the demon's head, but his strength is only that of a ten year old, he still hasn't had a full grip of his powers. The demon's head bobs down and it growls in irritation.

Kisara's bottom lip quivers in fear and she hastily gathers the strength she still has left and takes off in a quick run. Unshed tears swell in her eyes, but she refuses them to drop down.

It would've been easy for her to run her way home, if it wasn't for the demons that were blocking their path, she would have to run all around to just get to the edge of the clearing. She can hear her brother not far behind her, constantly repeating for her to run as fast as she could.

She was still just a child, only at eleven months old, but the energy of a six year old.

Kisara stops abruptly once she notices the bone eater's well just nearby, her home wasn't far, now she knew. A happy cry escapes her lips and she swiftly turns to the side.

When just half way, just near the ledge of the well, something -rather a snake demon, makes her stumble over and she swivels to her right - tumbling down the well.

Makoto watches as his little sister falls over and into the well that she has always feared - the fear of the dark and unknown, at the bottom of the well.

He then is tugged off the ground and is dangling in the air, held from his ankle, by the green and plump demon that had warts all over its body. "Hehe, finally got em'," the mixture between an ogre demon and a goblin.

"Oi!"

All of the three demons attention turn to a red clad figure standing with flex claws and a snarl, his golden eyes narrowed at them, teeth gritted in fury.

In just a swift movement, nor Makoto or the demon that held him by his ankle, could've be shaken at the fast action of the Inu-Hanyō.

It was in three seconds flat that Makoto found himself held in his father's arms and the demon that held him, lying face-flat on the ground with eyes rolled back.

Inuyasha turned to the two other demons that shook in fear and they took off in a run. Makoto blew a raspberry and then hugged his father tight. "Don't worry, I'm here now, don't cry," Inuyasha said softly to his son.

Makoto sniffled, then blue eyes widened at the memory of his little sister. "Kisara!" he cried out. Quickly jumping - although falling onto the ground because of his haste - Makoto looks over the ledge of the well.

Inuyasha hurries over and got ready to jump into the well to retrieve his daughter. She could be in the bottom hurt, or worse, unconscious from blood loss. She had fallen down it head first.

Makoto looks in and sighs in relief, seeing his sister dangling on a vine, he smiles when he extends his hand to pull her up.

Kisara smiles brightly and once she's out of the well, she rushes into her father's awaiting arms and snuggles to him,"Papa, I was scared."

Makoto rolls his eyes,"Baby," he mutters under his breath. She flashes him a glare and then pouts,"I'm no baby."

"Yeah and only a baby would say that," Makoto mumbles and the trio set off to their home. The siblings were told that Rin had stumbled upon their father when he was looking for the two of them.

"I'm relieved that you two are alright, are you hurt?" Kagome asked, hugging her two children close.

"No." They said simultaneously. Kagome smiled,"That's a relief."

Kisara played with her fingers,"Onii-chan," she said when her parents went to speak with Rin and Kaede who waited.

"What," Makoto said, not looking at her but at the distance. "Arigato," she said, hugging him by his side, smiling to herself. "You are the best brother," she mumbled and then yawned.

He never heard her say that and he smiled,"No problem little sister, I promised to protect you."
