CHAPTER 30
RPOV
Things were better after Dimitri had told Inna the truth. She was quiet at first, but after a while she started talking to me again. She would say hi when I came over and goodnight when I left. Then, after a week or so, she asked me to help with her homework.
She told me what Dimitri had told her and I pretended I didn't know about it – I was pretty sure she'd be upset if she found out I'd known all this time. The last thing I wanted to do was to upset her. She deserved some peace after all the drama. And so did Dimitri.
In the following weeks, Inna and I got closer. I was relieved and glad that she didn't dislike me anymore, that she understood now why Dimitri had moved on. It made things a lot easier, to be honest. Not just for me but for Dimitri as well.
I spent Easer at their home and was invited to go with them to the zoo. The kids loved it there, especially little Liam. He ran around all day, a happy smile on his face. When we left the zoo, he said he wanted to come back the next day and see the lions and elephants again. And then he asked if he could have a lion cub as a pet, which Dimitri responded to with an adamant no.
They'd also planned a trip to Disneyland in the summer. Once again, I was invited to come along – Inna invited me actually – but this time, I was hesitant. I wasn't sure if she really wanted me to come or if she was just being polite. But then Dimitri told me that she'd actually suggested it herself so I said yes to the offer. The summer was still two months away, but I was already excited that I was going to Disneyland. I'd always wanted to go as a kid, but I'd never had the chance to go. Finally, after ten years, I was able to go and see Disneyland.
"You know, I think it's about time we'd had some alone time," Dimitri said one night, after the kids had gone to bed. We were lounging on the couch, watching a TV show, but neither of us was really paying attention to it. "In a few weeks I won't get to see you anymore for a month."
I chuckled. "It's three weeks, actually. And I believe we're having some alone time right now."
"That's almost a month," he said shrugging. "And I mean more than just an hour alone time."
"It's not like you're not going to see me at all," I said.
In two weeks, my finals would start. I'd been preparing for my exams for a couple of weeks now, which was why I hadn't been able to spend much time with Dimitri. I was still babysitting his kids and would continue to do so until my finals started. Then, he'd have to find someone else because I really needed to focus on my tests.
This meant I wouldn't be able to see Dimitri anymore, either. Sure, we'd see each other a few hours in the weekends, but that was it. I'd study at his house, but I was pretty sure he would only distract me so I'd decided I'd stay on campus. He was bummed about it, but understood why I was doing this. And it's not like I was doing this because I wanted to. I needed to. I needed to pass my finals so I'd be one step closer to graduation.
"I know," he said and he pouted. "But it won't be enough."
"Aww, comrade," I said, punching his arm lightly. "Lighten up. You'll see me a whole summer afterwards. Three weeks is nothing compared to that."
"Will I?"
"What?" I asked, a little confused.
"Will I see you the whole summer?"
"Sure," I said smiling. "If you want to."
"Oh. Because I thought you'd leave and go home."
I snorted. "And what should I do there? My mom is never at home. And I've got no one else there. No way. I'm staying here over the summer."
"So you'll stay on campus?" he asked.
I nodded. "Yeah. I mean, I don't have another choice if I want to stay here."
"Well…"
I raised my eyebrow. "What?"
Dimitri glanced away. "I wouldn't mind if you'd, um, stay here for the summer," he said carefully. "I mean, here in this house."
I gasped and moved out of his arms to get a better look at him. "You want me to move in with you?!"
"No," he said quickly. "I mean…" He sighed. "I didn't mean it like that. I just meant that if you needed a place to stay over the summer, you can stay here. You don't have to spend your summer on campus. Christian will be going home, right?"
I nodded.
"See. You'll be alone there and I can imagine that's no fun. So yeah… If you wanted to… It's only for two months, really," he stammered. "And if you don't like it, you can always move back into your dorm room."
"I guess," I said slowly, frowning a little as I thought about his offer.
"What are you thinking?" he asked quietly after a few moments of silence.
"I…" I paused. "I like the idea of staying here over the summer." As soon as I said that, Dimitri's eyes lit up. "But what if it doesn't work out? I mean… What if we start fighting because we're always together? Maybe we shouldn't take the risk and-"
"Roza," Dimitri interrupted gently. He took my hand in his and laced our fingers together. "It's only for two months. And you can leave whenever you want. It's not like you are staying forever. Of course, I wouldn't mind that," he added smiling. "But I know you want to take things slow and that's okay. I'm just saying…" He frowned a little. "Well, see it as a practice for later. When you do want to move in with me," he said in a teasing voice.
"I don't know…" I said slowly. "What about your kids? What will they say?"
"I can ask them what they'd think about it if you'd stay here for the summer," he answered. "But I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind. You're practically here all the time – except when you have your classes. So it's not that much of a difference."
"I guess not," I said sighing.
"So…what do you say?" Dimitri asked hesitantly. "You want to move in here? Temporarily?"
I looked at him and made my decision. "Yes. I'll move in with you. Temporarily."
His face broke out into a radiant smile. Pulling me to him, he kissed me fiercely. Smiling, I pulled away from him and said, "But only if your kids are okay with it. And if I pass my finals, of course. If I don't, I'm afraid I'll have to stay on campus and study all summer."
"You won't fail, Roza," Dimitri said, brushing a strand of hair out of my face. "I believe in you."
I smiled again and kissed him softly. "Well, let's hope so."
Dimitri pulled me onto his lap and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"I believe you said something about alone time earlier," I said grinning as I wounded my arms around his neck and pressed my lips against his. "Or is that off the table now that I'm moving in here for the summer?"
"Hmm, no," he murmured against my lips. "It's still on the table."
"So when are you planning on-" I let out a small gasp when Dimitri sucked on my soft spot.
"I was thinking about next weekend," he murmured as he kissed further down my neck and shoulder. "We could have a fancy dinner somewhere, go to the movies…and spend the night in a hotel instead of here?" He glanced up at me and grinned. "What do you say?"
I smiled. "I'd like that, but what about the kids?"
"My mother already offered to watch them."
"So you've talked to her about this?"
He nodded. "So what do you say?" he asked again. "You want to go away for one night and have some real alone time?"
"Alright," I said. Taking his face in my hands, I leaned in and kissed him passionately. "I'm already looking forward to it."

"You asked her to move in with you?!"
Ivan looked at me in disbelief as we walked back to my car. We'd been in the gym for almost two hours. I'd lost track of time and really needed to get home right now. Rose was babysitting the kids, but had asked to come home early so she could go back to campus and study for the rest of the night.
I was really getting tired of these finals and they hadn't even started yet. I barely saw Rose anymore and when I did, it was only for an hour or so. Not that I could blame her. I mean, I knew she wanted to pass. And I wanted that for her, too. I just wish that the finals would hurry up so that I'd have my Roza back.
"Yeah. Sort of," I said with a shrug. "It's only for the summer. But I wouldn't mind if she moved in permanently," I added.
"Dude," Ivan said, looking at me as if I was crazy.
"What?" I said defensively. "Rose is the one for me. It's not that crazy that I want her to move in with me."
"I know you think she's the one for you," Ivan said. I opened my mouth to protest, to tell him that Rose truly was the one for me, but he cut me off and continued, "but now that the bitch is dead, you should have some fun. Hook up with the girls you were never able to hook up with because of Tasha."
I looked at him disapprovingly. "I have kids! I can't just screw around like you do all the time. Besides," I added, "I don't want that. Like I said, Rose is the one."
"Damn," Ivan muttered. "I was kinda hoping you'd follow my advice so I could have a go with Rose."
I looked at him, outraged, but then noticed the grin spreading across his face. He was just teasing.
"Not funny, Ivan," I grumbled.
He laughed, but then turned sober again. "Okay, so you want her to move in with you, but…"
"But what?"
"Well… I hate to break it to you, but your kids probably won't like it very much."
"Actually, I think they'll be okay with it. I'll ask them tonight," I answered. "When Rose has left."
I dropped Ivan off at his apartment and then drove home. The kids were already in their pajamas when I arrived and were watching TV while Rose was studying. Sometimes I wondered how she was able to study with all that noise in the background. I needed quiet and peace. She, apparently, did not.
I greeted my children and then walked over to Rose. I kissed her on top of her head before taking a seat next to her at the table.
"How's it going?" I asked, looking at the huge textbook in front of her.
She looked up at me and sighed. "Okay, I guess."
I gave her a small smile. "I'm sorry I'm late. I lost track of time."
"It's fine. They were calm tonight," she said, smiling a little as she glanced over at the kids. When she looked back at me, she let out another sigh and said, "Well, I should go. I really need to finish this chapter today."
I nodded and she got up, packing up her stuff. I followed her to the hallway after she'd said goodnight to the kids.
"Have you found a new babysitter yet?" she asked.
I grimaced. "No."
Rose gave me a knowing look. "Have you even been looking for one?"
I looked down. "No," I admitted.
She crossed her arms and shook her head slightly. "I already thought so."
Glancing back up, I took her hand in mine and laced our fingers together. "It's just… no one is nearly as good as you are with my kids. You're just perfect, which is why I can't find a good replacement. You're just too perfect and now I don't want anyone else babysitting my kids."
Rose smiled reluctantly. "Well, you're going to have to."
"I know," I said sighing.
"It's only for a few weeks," she said, squeezing my hand.
I nodded. "My neighbors have a daughter. She's around the same age as you, I think. I don't really know them all that well, but they seem decent. Maybe their daughter is, too. Hopefully."
"Yeah. You could ask her if she's interested," Rose said smiling.
"I guess," I said.
"Maybe she'll do such an amazing job that you don't want me back," she teased, nudging my shoulder with hers.
"Impossible," I said smiling.
Her smile widened. Standing on her tiptoes, she wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me. I pulled her closer to me, but all too soon she moved out of my arms and to the door.
"I should go now," she said, leaving. "Night, comrade."
I smiled. "Good night, Roza."
So what do you think about the moving in thing? Is it too soon - even if it's just temporarily? Do you think Rose is going to back out of it? I know you're all dying for some drama. Don't worry, it'll be there soon! Very soon ;)
Hope you liked the chapter! Please leave a review and have a nice weekend! :)
